Re: Xbox Is Pushing for Free Next-Gen Upgrades, And That's Good News for PS5

SZRT_CIC_Ice

@GamingFan4Lyf

That's not a guaranteed part of Smart Delivery. And some PS3 to PS4 cross-buy games, did indeed carry data over, if the game supported cloud saves. GTA Online may do just that, when it drops free for the first 3 months, next year. As although it wasn't free, the data did in fact carry from PS3 to PS4. Actually, it was cross platform, so you could've went from 360 to PS4, PS3 to XB1, or either platform, to PC. So yeah, that aspect is in the hands of the developers.

Re: Random: Sony's PlayStation Studios Ident Actually Debuted Years Ago

SZRT_CIC_Ice

@MedaXbot How??? This literally shows that they ripped off of themselves. It's more likely that there's a paid leaker within Sony that is leaking PS info to MS, so that they can attempt to "steal the spotlight" by "beating Sony to the punch" on features/reveals. As the platform leader this current generation, Sony has little reason to mimic MS on approach.

Re: Soapbox: Sony Needs to Share a PS5 Roadmap

SZRT_CIC_Ice

Sony is holding their cards close to their chest for a reason. They are the current platform leaders. They may not necessarily "need" to do anything different from what they're already doing. Their attack is ready, but they likely want to position it as a counterattack for maximum effect. But, I think Microsoft are doing the same. So once Sony's bomb drops, expect MS to drop back, and then both parties to go back & forth dropping reveals in rapid succession. But you can believe, that if Sony says nothing all year, and then drop PS5 this holiday season, and simply say in a tweet, "in stores now", with so much as a whisper, it will still sell the buckets in retail.

Then there's also the issue of a possible delay from MS, and of price. If Sony reveals too much & MS delays their launch, that could potentially play into their release strategy & give MS a chance to adapt their strategy to counter Sony. A scenario I'm sure Sony doesn't want. It's already been stated by Sony that they are waiting to see what MS decides on regarding price.

Regardless, at the end of the day, what's coming is coming. People are annoyed because they're anxious to buy it & see what's coming next. But knowing won't get the thing in our hands any quicker.

Also, MS revealing so early, in some ways, already make their console seem dated. Like, it's old news already... Terrible marketing strategy imo. Having a new hardware product be considered "old news" by comparison to its competition, before its initial release has even occured.

Re: PS5's SSD Has Developer Dreaming Big and Thinking of New Frontiers

SZRT_CIC_Ice

@robjewitt Series X streams 2.4GB of data a second. PS5 is more than twice as fast, at 5.5GB a second. This measurement, is more of a significant difference than having 1.7 more teraflops at a 10.3 & 12 TF comparison. Seeing how both consoles are teraflop overkill for games running at 1080p-4K, since they can both do 120fps & 8K, I wonder how many devs will even push these things to the peak percentage of what they can do graphically.

Re: PS5's SSD Has Developer Dreaming Big and Thinking of New Frontiers

Imagine GTA6, where every interior location can simply be walked into. No load screens or transitions. Imagine builings collapsing and being destroyed. Getting an invite to an event, and not getting moved into a separate session, freeplay is your lobby. A quick menu pops up, you select your vehicles/weapons, while doing your thing; still in free mode, and when everyone is ready, instant teleport to the start line, 3, 2, 1, go.

Imagine giant dynamic Uncharted style chase scenes & set pieces in a multiplayer game. Happening on a whim, without warning.

Imagine regular first-person style games supporting VR optionally AS A NORM, and the capability of mixing players in with regular players in multiplayer games. FPS's, racing/vehicle style games, horror games, etc. All w/ VR capability out of the box. And for devs, implementation is made easy, & it's a matter of a simple plug-in for them to make it possible. Proprietary tools courtesy of Sony's dev kit.

Earthquakes, tornadoes, tsunamis, etc. happening in-game in realtime, with cinematic style transitions into gameplay. Trees swaying & falling over, the ground bulging up, parting, and revealing crevices in the earth, looking up & seeing an asteroid in the sky, bigger multiplayer lobbies, 1,000's players leaving earth in space ships, multiplayer co-op Days Gone zombie herds, happening on an even more epic scale with a 1-million zombie survival mode, 1,000 racers in an open world Gran Turismo café race/cruise session w/ custom vehicles, etc.

Some ideas may be a stretch, or maybe not... But when I hear fundamental change in game design, things like this come to mind.

Re: More Developers Sing PS5's Praises After Tech Specs Reveal

SZRT_CIC_Ice

Triple A games supporting VR mixed in with standard players. Nolonger will VR have to have it's own exclusive library. Reading through the lines from people like Mark Cerny, Kazunori Yamauchi, and the developer above, it's clear. 3D audio, more datathrough the pipe so that data can be loaded faster in all directions. Faster framerates. Innovation in world designs. I got a strong feeling about this. Will definitely be great in racing/vehicle related games as well as fps titles.

Also, PS5 will be easier to develop for & have less bugs/glitches & be easier to patch. People don't understand the developmental benefits of this.

Re: Hands On: Final Fantasy VII Remake's Modern Combat Thrills, But Level Design Feels Stuck in the Past

SZRT_CIC_Ice

Terrible review. Check out this for a better, more accurate take.

https://youtu.be/ZCeFBKFctvQ

This reviewer sounds like he's looking for something other than a FFVII game.

I wonder if he even played the original? It's a "remake", not an "alternate story" or part 2. What would be the point of pointless open world exploration if it doesn't fit the narrative? Open world doesn't become necessary until you leave Midgar, and the linearity drives the plot forward. Unless you just want to walk around Midgar, pointlessly gawking at its citizens for hours, I don't get the complaints.

Re: Rumour: PS4 Firmware Update 7.50 Beta Incoming

Things I'd like to see that PS4 Could Use/Needs -

Custom Capture Folders: To title/organize captured videos/pictures for sorting/editing/uploading.

Quick Search: Hold a button to scroll through menus at a faster speed, or at higher intervals.

Trophy Sorting Options by Game:
•% Completed/Progress
•Rarity
•Platinum Acquired
•Platform [PS4, Vita, PS3]
•Difficulty
•Etc. (View psntrophyleaders.com or psnprofiles.com for more examples. We should be able to do this from our consoles).

Fix Share Play, as it doesn't work for many players anymore.

Update the speed of navigating the PS Store, improve video quality of game previews, & fix loading for preview images that don't load.

Update the Internet Browser (YouTube support is ending soon).

Allow YouTube hyperlink sharing again.

Allow link sharing from the YouTube app.

Play/stream videos [plug-ins] within messages.

Share animated gifs in messages.

Add Video Chat.

Update livestream comments section interface and make it customizable (theme, background image, color scheme, text color, etc).

Individual Accessibility Options for Home Screen & Game: Custom Button Assignments: PS4 Menu/System [Off/On] In-Game [Off/On]

Re: Nioh 2 Difficulty Level to Be Adjusted for the Final Game Following Beta Feedback

SZRT_CIC_Ice

They should just do optional dynamic difficulty, based on hit/defend rate or something. I really enjoyed the beta & the difficulty it present me. My friends all seemed to enjoy it the same. It also increases replay value & longevity. Idk, the game is meant to be grinded a bit, until you get better gear, abilities, and can move forward. I personally find it very rewarding, and prefer having things unlocked before completion. Once I complete a game, grinding for gear, levels, abilities, etc. feels less important, as completion is my driving force. So I don't mind the slow burn, as the journey, replayability, & every victory is more important to me than rushing to the destination. I'd rather the game make me work for it.

Re: Need for Speed Heat - The Best NFS for Years, But That's Not Saying Much

SZRT_CIC_Ice

To those asking, yes. You can play offline.

If you're rushing to complete a review of a game to quickly write an article about it, yes. The cops will be a pain. But once you've familiarized yourself w/ the map, your vehicle's abilities, how to break line-of-sight (get them out of the red circle surrounding your icon on the GPS, get away from the road out of reach of their search cone, and how to turn off your vehicle (L1 + 'Push Square'), the escapes become much easier, exciting, and satisfying.

Aurthor also forgot to mention the fun that is co-op, joining a crew, and engine swapping. As well as new paint types (damascus, carbon fiber, brushed metal, + much more), the return of BBS wheels, unlockable vehicles like Eddie's Skyline (Underground) , the FXX-K Evo, M3 GTR (Most Wanted), and more. But yeah...

Re: Soapbox: Why Sony's PS5 Strategy Will Pay Dividends

SZRT_CIC_Ice

For the record, targeting hardcore doesn't mean forgetting casuals. PS4 was marketed the same way "For the Players", initially marketing features like game sharing, better graphics, no DRM, etc. while Microsoft initially touted XB1 as a (casuals included) "does everything" box, targeting the wider casual market (and we all see how that turned out). Sony's simply sticking to their guns and doing what worked for the PS4. The "fluff" casual features won't be forgotten, and will add more buying incentive once marketed later on.

That CCN article should read: "Grasping At Straws: 101". Likely a piece created to sow doubt in order to limit initial investments so investors can gain bigger returns when it succeeds. Or worse, a paid piece by a competitor, or worse yet simply an outright gross oversight that doesn't consider the PS4's success in having any effect on the PS5's.

Imo, if for tny reason the PS5 doesn't do astounding numbers, targeting hardcore players will not be the reason. It would be because the didn't offer the hardcore enough incentive to see value in the system. And from the looks of things from stats released so far, that won't be a concern.

Re: Gran Turismo Sport's Livery Editor Lets You Upload Decals

SZRT_CIC_Ice

Thank God not all game devs create their games based off of pessimistic people like these found here.

The livery editor has none of these problems mentioned above, and being a first party Sony dev, the report function is linked directly with the PSN report function. It's also one of the coolest features within the game (especially when combined with the amazing photo modes, in-game social features; i.e photo sharing, livery sharing, replay sharing, decal sharing, etc.) and artistic community found within the game. And the liveries have to be uploaded to be seen/shared.

So getting around this isn't very likely, as a report is a click away.

Re: Poll: What Year Should Sony Launch the PS5?

SZRT_CIC_Ice

2019 is PlayStation's 25 year anniversary. Perfect time for an announcement/reveal. The release should be the year that follows...

PS5 in 2020.

2020 is also divisible by 5 (PS5), so they're likely to have a 404 Error if the system's release date isn't found that year (2020÷5=404).

Re: Sony Ships Another Half Million PlayStation VR Headsets

SZRT_CIC_Ice

Looking forward to optional full fledged implementation into single/multiplayer games that have a first-person perspective. So that VR players can play alongside TV players. And just like choosing between 720p,1080p, and 4K. VR would simply become an alternative monitor option for our gaming experiences, across the board.

But yeah, we need further investments in software from major 1st & 3rd party devs if we're ever to come close to that.

Re: Gamescom 2017: And You Thought Final Fantasy XV Couldn't Get Any Stupider

SZRT_CIC_Ice

Anyone over there at Push Square that's actually a fan of FFXV and that can write a positive and informative article detailing this? You know, without ridiculing the game and in doing so, underhandedly ridiculing anyone that may be a fan of it? If it's not for you, it's not for you. But it's not "stupid" content that nobody will enjoy. You're making it seem as if they crossed over with the Saints Row franchise.
