I'll have a bit of this, not the reveal, the game when it actually releases. Hope it's sooner rather than later. One of only two AC games I actually enjoyed/liked.
Tides of tomorrow actually looks decent but narrative games aren't for me. Shame, hope it does well. Nothing else really tickles my fancy unfortunately, maybe next week.
None for me really but if I was forced to play one it would be HZD. They're ok just probably not my kind of ok. Maybe if I tried them I would enjoy them but I can't stop playing games I buy on the off chance. Tried Metal Eden a few days ago with that in mind but nope, not for me. Not a bad variety though all said and done. SP games have an uphill battle to grab my attention.
I like extraction shooters but even I'm sceptical. Getting perks in game? Not for me by the sounds of it unfortunately, plus it's F2P which is also a massive turn off for me as well. I'm hoping that F2P isn't going to be their mandate for all future GaaS games. I know the majority here hate GaaS but I like them.
Might try HZD, might not, not really for me but you never know it could be fun. To busy playing other games anyway, not a great month but not bad either.
Great game, don't understand how people say the main story is flawed? It's pretty straight forward, makes perfect sense to me and isn't disjointed at all. Love the MMO feel it has to it and the complexity of the gameplay and mechanics which are by far the most important thing about games anyway. Only on chapter 7 here but I play daily in bite sized chunks. 37 hours in.
Great game, great support, not played it for a few days but I have so much to play and I find it hard to focus on one SP game at a time. I get SP fatigue real easy. Getting kinda tired of the 'criticism' as well by people that have not played the games they criticised. I only comment on games I have played and bought but I'm older now, the less negativity in my life the better 😌 I get it though but I suppose that comes with maturity.
Couldn't get on with the game, bought it a while back. Main character is annoying as hell to the point her constant frustration really starts to grate. Climbing was ok but it got old quick. Still have it downloaded and might give it more time.
150 hours solo and only have 3 primary quests left, the last 2 for Traxus and the last 1 for Mida. The quests are perfectly soloable. Love the game but those costs are ridiculous. The industry is in a state. They need to crack that MP because it IS the most popular genre, like it or not.
Lol what strange comments 😅 damned if you do and damned if you dont. Just bought it (again) for £16 as it's in a sale atm, bargain. Will probably take a break from Crimson and dive into this, bang Crimson into the backlog, great game but can drag a bit.
Sounds pretty awsome, may have to start this game again for like the 4th time since it launched, been a few years since I last played. Bit daunting though.
Yeah not to shabby, doubt I'll play any but if I was it'd be Lotf. To busy with Crimson for my SP fix. It's criminal it got a 6/10 but each to their own.
Yeah 'one day' obviously but I don't think it will be anytime soon, it's generations away. I won't even use WiFi. I need to be hardwired into my router if anything for assureness that I'm getting the best speeds I can possibly get.
Nope. We are still an age off of playing MP games via streaming, it would run like dialup with 64 players in a lobby. Maybe for card games and walking sims but I'll be stumping up the money for hardware.
No problem for me, I haven't filled up the storage on my Pro, I have 766 gb spare atm with some big games on there and don't have a disc drive. Never used the disk drive on my XboxSX either.
Plenty of low skilled workers have been replaced by machinery and more efficient kinds of new tech in history from cotton mills to car makers or even self service checkouts in our supermarkets. This is just the next step in evolution, sucks but this isn't anything new, it's progress and life. I struggle to see the difference to be honest, I feel sorry for the guy but it isn't my problem. Get a different job. Life can suck. It's unfortunately his turn for a bad bit of life. Maybe it will free up some funds spent better elsewhere in the games development and be better for me.
Last I looked (about 3 days ago) there were 4 singleplayer games in the top 20 most played on PS, the new Resi at 7th and the other 3 were 17th, 19th and 20th. Crimson, Ghosts of Yotei, cant remember the other. The rest were all MP/GaaS games. Marathon is the best extraction shooter on the market right now, I like Arc but I wouldn't necessarily call it an extraction shooter in the true sense. Marathon doesn't deserve the hate or the time and effort some people are putting in to try and derail the game. I hope it stays for the long run, I love it. Awsome game. Just hope Sony give it time, they will be the life or death of Marathon.
I can't see any other options being any cheaper, they will all suffer from the same thing, Sony wouldn't be so stupid to sell it at this price if a competitor somehow managed the same thing cheaper.
I would unfortunately be there day 1, I have to be. I don't watch TV or films I can't stand them, I only game in my spare time (and gym), they have me by the short and curlies. I hate the fact they will cost £1000 but it is what it is. The world's a scummy place. You couldn't build a decent enough PC that I would be satisfied with for £1000, I would need bells and whistles and be able to play the latest MP games at full specs. More power to people that could cheap it out but that isn't for me.
Can't let the state of the world affect their luxurious lifestyles is what they mean. I bet they still get a bonus or ten. Someone has to pay for it, just wouldn't do for them to take the hit every now and then would it. Disgusting.
@JB_Whiting nice, hope you enjoy it, just not the kind of game I'm necessarily going to enjoy for sure. I'd just hope for more than 25 hours out of a £70 game myself. I'm more of a mp fan. For example I got 900 hours give or take because of going afk in the menus out of Arc (500 topside) for £50 and have already racked up 100 hours, give or take in Marathon for the same. Different people different preferences, honestly hope you love the game and it does well though.
I'm enjoying it, more like 7/10 at least. Bouncing between this and Marathon, few runs on Marathon then an hour on this and back and forth. The last few months have been the best gaming I've had for a long time. The amount of stuff you can do is insane in this game, I think it's vague because it wants you to have the thrill of discovery and a sense of depth. Can't complain tbh, each to their own though. Spot on price as well, £55, banging, worth every penny. Sorry for the editing but it just occurred to me that it might of sold millions of copies already because of the price? They didn't try and pull our pants down. Worth thinking about no?
It's a roguelite right? No way it is a £70 game. Hope it does ok but I doubt it at that price. £40 and I might of bought it at launch myself but no chance at £70.
Don't really think giving us shorter, basically giving us less is the answer, the business men/women need a reality check and it's been a long time coming. I wouldn't pay 80 quid for the standard edition of a game very often unless I really wanted the game, maybe a once a year thing, probably not even that. I'd certainly have second thoughts about getting even the standard version of GTA6 on launch day at £80. £60 max Thank-you.
Hopefully it's a slow burner and will pick up. A TDM or similar mode would be easier to implement, with standard kits. A no risk option. Getting games is easy enough in solos, only like a minute wait. The cost of making this game is the problem, if it was 100 mill instead it would be a success. Crazy numbers, something needs to be done about the money these people make, live service or MP games are what the majority want but the cost is so damn ridiculous it's ruining the whole industry.
I dont get the hate from Destiny players either, I remember they said Destiny was a ten year game when it launched, well the ten years are up, they fullfilled their obligation.
I won't be playing Cryo until they add solos and if the want the game to do well then they will add solos. I'm confident they will, hope I'm not wrong. I love the grind anyway and I'm content with not playing Cryo or even ranked right now but once I've hit 100 and maxed all the factions I will need something else. They better add solos!
I'm enjoying it, the most obvious fix for me was the map crash bug. Fixed it super quick so all's good. Didn't crash once tonight and the stash in your camp is a biggie. On chapter 4 and it's getting better and better.
The player count has been stable for a couple of weeks now. It's hit 60kish on steam alone for the last 3 weekends and last I looked it had risen to 27th most played on PS. I have no idea of the numbers on console.
An absolutely awsome game, great review and score. The art, graphics, depth all are brilliant. It's one if the best performing and polished multilayer games I've ever played, almost perfect in those regards. Cryo for me is a bit disappointing as it doesn't have solos but I've read a dev comment saying they are looking into adapting the map to being able to host solo players as well. Game's doing well and holding its own, love it.
It's fun I like it, needs a patch or two but every game does. Can't find my tent though to utilise my stash is a bit annoying, needs a few of the basic markers on the map. Having fun though and don't regret the purchase.
Haha oh wow people really do like bashing Marathon, what a joke 😃 just forget about the damn game and move on if you dont like it. Like wtf does this game have to do with Marathon rofl.
Seems alright but the first puzzle quest in the abyss seems a little obscure. Already feels like a YouTube game as in I will have to look up how to do the majority of the puzzles and I hate that in a single player game. I got through the floor and put the floaty square disc against the wall but nothing seems to happen and I hate having to look things up, especially in the first few hours. I'll give it more time later but cba'd right now. Gunna jump back on the excellent Marathon someone already mentioned xD (so salty) and try it again later. If it ends up being a YouTube game I'll be pretty disappointed. Removes any sense of achievement or fun for me when I have to watch other people solve in game stuff for me. Shame though, I was kinda really enjoying it.
@lazarus11 haha yeah, I actually like Tainted Grail and will give it a good go some time, but I just couldn't get along with KCD2, I like to play blind but I don't think that's that kind of game.
Don't really care, I bet I've bought worse games this year. KCD2 which ppl on here seem to love was for me awful, Dragons Dogma 2 also awful so I should like this game. Story driven cinematic campaigns aint for me and the graphics can't be as bad as Avalon which I also bought this year xD Going in Blind as per usual so not watched any vids, looking forward to tomorrow when I finish work. Only £55 lol.
Great review, there's no way it will get a bad review anywhere, it's that good and polished. I'm loving the game. Performance, graphics, gameplay, PvE, PvP, depth and quality in every department, lore, the lot. There's not a category it fails in. It really is that good. I didn't think anything could better Arc especially so soon but this game has. Both are great games in their own right but Marathon has blown me away. I hope for MP gaming sake that other MP fans give it a fair go and put aside their unwarranted (in my opinion) prejudice for this game. You're missing out on so much.
Well I'm loving it, its one of the most solid, polished and genuinely fun games I've played. Even more so than Arc tbh, actually prefer it, I struggle to stay engaged in Arc, it feels far to easy and casual now. Almost no interest in Arc ATM, I just play it to try and get ready for the next expedition as I don't want to fall behind. That's my only incentive when I play Arc. The numbers suggest to me at least that Marathon will go free to play if the numbers don't pick up. I've read many people say that they are waiting for reviews before they buy and I'm sure it will get positive reviews so maybe that will help.
Space Marine is pretty good and the LOTR title is excellent, well made with base building, resource gathering and decent CooP for CooP fans. Own them both on Xbox,.
@Northern_munkey nice, thnx for letting me know, it was bugging me. I could maybe of just googled it but it never occurred to me. Old man syndrome probably.
@Northern_munkey think I solved the late spawns thing. Was you using Rook? I recently used Rook a few times and spawned in late every time, never had it happen using other runners.
80k isn't terrible, it has plenty of variables as well. Marathons release time isn't ideal straight after Arc, extraction shooter are already a niche audience and Arc has done amazingly well, like I already said, not many people will have time or the appetite to start another extraction shooter this quickly after Arcs launch. 86k isn't great but it isn't terrible either, even compared to Highguard as that was F2p.
You get a game pretty much straight away, or at worst 30 seconds. No late starts either which is awesome, you only ever spawns in at the start of the round.
It'll be tough for the game as many people will be heavily invested into Arc and won't have time for another extraction shooter. Personally I think it's pretty damn good and will certainly get hundreds of hours out of me.

@Northern_munkey really? Fair enough, hasn't happened to me yet though. Only ever started at the beginning myself.
Re: Site News: Where's Our Marathon PS5 Review?
You get a game pretty much straight away, or at worst 30 seconds. No late starts either which is awesome, you only ever spawns in at the start of the round.
Re: Site News: Where's Our Marathon PS5 Review?
It'll be tough for the game as many people will be heavily invested into Arc and won't have time for another extraction shooter. Personally I think it's pretty damn good and will certainly get hundreds of hours out of me.
