PS5's Mountain Climbing Game Cairn Wants You Back for Free DLC Drops

First new DLC in the Summer

The Game Bakers is asking you to return to its PS5 mountain climbing title Cairn this Summer as it has got the first of a number of free DLC packs to release.

Named "On the Trail", this first drop adds new climbing areas, challenges, and "water soloing" to the experience. "Find your route freely, solve fresh climbing problems and explore new iconic locations as you follow the trail of a legendary climber," the official description continues.

The new content expands on a unique PS5 mountaineering game we recommended you check out when it first launched at the start of 2026.

"Cairn is a great climbing simulator, one that presents you with an entire mountain and complete freedom to traverse it as you please," we said in a 7/10-rated review. "Some light survival mechanics apply just enough pressure to push you forward, and the purposely slow pace encourages careful climbing and proper planning."

Picked this up on launch back in January following the demo last year, had an absolute blast with it. Highly recommend for anyone looking into it - great to support the smaller studios too.

Freaking loved this game and can’t wait for this. I would have easily dropped ten or fifteen on this if it wasn’t free

Couldn't get on with the game, bought it a while back. Main character is annoying as hell to the point her constant frustration really starts to grate. Climbing was ok but it got old quick. Still have it downloaded and might give it more time.
