Well, this should make for an interesting poll!
We don't want to colour your opinion right out of the gate, but we think it's more than fair to say that April 2026's PS Plus Essential lineup will be divisive.
In a nutshell, we've got a Soulslike, an anime action RPG, and a remastered collection.
We'll start with Lords of the Fallen, which makes for an interesting headliner because it was met with somewhat mixed reviews.
This dark fantasy adventure has received several major updates since its October 2023 release, however, and now, the general consensus is that it's probably one of the strongest overall Soulslikes on the market.

We think it's worth a shot even if the genre isn't quite your thing, but we can't really say the same for Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream. At this point, you're either into Sword Art Online or you just can't stomach it; and this latest adaptation won't be changing your mind either way.
It's an MMO-styled hack-and-slash RPG with a lot of grinding, loot, and increasingly bulky bosses. You can play it online, too, taking part in raids with whole gangs of other players. But again, its trope-ridden story and hyper anime characters certainly won't appeal to everyone.
And finally, we've got Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, which would have been an easy recommendation for anyone with a PS1 itch — but a recent update reportedly mangled the game in various ways. Amazing timing, but here's hoping that it all gets fixed sooner rather than later.
