The power of Hype. I never had any interest in the game, but seeing the poor state this launched in on PS4 reminds me of From Software's 'actual gameplay' of Dark Souls 2 prior to lauch. I rushed out and bought that one at launch on PS3 to find a game that didn't come close, I wouldn't make the same mistake twice.
Codemasters for me will always remind me of buying budget games for my C64 in WH Smith, back in the 80s. Thinking on, EA will always remind me of EA Hockey, Desert Strike and Road Rash on the Megadrive, those were the days.
The Oliver Twins are releasing Wonderful Dizzy this month, so thats something!
Reminds me of seeing Shadow of Mordor on PS3... though maybe its not quite that bad as that was with sub-HD resolution, screen tearing and sustained frame drops. I suppose the problem here is this game is so hyped with adverts everywhere but the current product, at least in as far PS4 players are concerned, is in a far from optimal state for a 'triple a' game.
Just doesnt seem like my time of game from the previews so no. I didnt find the Witcher 3 compelling either though, so I dont have the expectation of greatness that people who enjoy that game have.
Just Cause 4 actually had a much better framerate than 3, but it suffered in terms of resolution and pop in on base PS4 where I played it. I never completed it but I'll download it as was kind of fun.
It looks great, the 60fps boost on so many PS4 games is really impressive. I hope Bloodborne gets a patch as Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro suggest it could be pretty much flawless 60fps. I'd put off Sekiro due to the frame pacing, but will intend to pick the game up once I have a PS5.
Great game, only the retro soundtrack was a bit of a let down for me, Game Gear was a weird choice. Having said that, I realise you can just play your own selection with the media player.
@Jake3103 Cheers, I'll keep an eye out for an analysis. I'm on 'base' PS4 and always interested to try a new racer (even if this does look a bit middle of the road), but performance makes a big difference in driving game. Edit: I just found some base PS4 footage and looks pretty rough.
I have the 'day one' physical edition, came with a nice map. I found this an interesting, if very technically flawed game on PS4. I like how they tried to extend the detective formula to an open world, but the combat was pretty bad and for me detracted from the atmosphere.
They should have... the PAL version of Vice City Stories on PS3 is 50Hz and pretty poor. I probably would have bought it again just for a decent 60Hz PS4 version. The PAL PS2 PS4 releases were pretty messed up at launch though, Vice City and San Andreas were released initially as a 50Hz versions forced into 60Hz, resulting in 25fps and bad frame pacing. They patched them later, but San Andreas still has sound glitches and a weird visual 'grid' over the screen. Overall, PS2 on PS4 was a poor show for PAL gamers.
Still have this on my good old PS3, along with The Simpsons Arcade game. The delisted game I most regret missing on PS3 is OutRun 2006 Online Arcade. At least the Xbox disc (of OutRun) works on a 360 and there was a disc PC version.
People seem to really like Animal Crossing these days. I dont have a Switch, but I do remember importing the Gamecube version back in the day. I did buy GoT, but not really had a chance to play it beyond a few hours so far.
Been playing DiRT 4 after picking it up in the sale for £4.99. I had this game in 2017 and not sure why I sold it... Rally on 'racer' mode reminds me of 90s arcade style Rally games, and the 60fps is great.
Just ordered a copy... I skipped Last of Us 2 for now, but I really like the visual style here. Its crazy when I recall how something like 'The Last Ninja' on the C64 felt so atmospheric when I was a kid. Looking forward to trying this one.
If you are a Terminator fan, I'd suggest Terminator: Resistance as a good game to pick up on sale, I waited for a sale and was a compelling budget title.
How horrid. Ive not played the Last of us Part 2 yet, but Laura Bailey did great work as the Boss in Saints Row 4. Her voice acting is my first choice when I replay the game. What motivates these people, I just don't know.
I played the trial, it did seem interesting but some of the stealth seemed a bit clunky. Good atmosphere though, I may get it at some point if on sale.
I actually bought the Spongebob game as I thought be fun to play retro style 3D platformer. It is fun, but has a few small issues. I always invert the vertical camera, but the game changes it back everytime you swap characters, odd. Snow Runner recieved a hotfix which has almost restored the game's graphics on base PS4, so can now play the game again.
Well, they would have to say that... For me backward compatibility is a big deal at this point, as have a fairly large digital library I've built on PS4. I have an original Xbox, and a 360, but thats it with Xbox for me. What they tried with the 'One' all those years ago just put me off their consoles thereafter. If I buy a next gen system, it will be only one, so PS5 is the option I'd go for.
It really depends how replayable a game is. OutRun 2006 can be competed in about 6 minutes, but Ive played the game countless times as it has rewarding gameplay. A long story based game can have fairly stale gamplay which becomes tiresome before the end, so I dont go back to it. Its about balance I think, if a shorter game is replayable, you can spend more hours on it anyway.
This must be like Sonic Mania was for me, but for slightly younger gamers who grew up with PS1. Looks good, even though I was a Saturn owner, so don't really have the Crash nostalgia myself.
Ill find one more place to complain a bit about the latest patch for Snow Runner, as I was really enjoying the game. Since the last patch it appears to runs at a sub HD resolution on base PS4, so I cant play it until they fix it (they say they are going to). Its so low there was a point I couldn't see the road for the trees. Got Saits Row 4 in the current sale so am replaying the game on PS4, might try finish a couple of bits in Horizon Frozen Wilds.
No, though I think it does look like a remarkably well crafted game. I'm just playing video games more for a bit of escapism at the moment. I'm replaying Saits Row 4 as was on sale, was enjoying Snow Runner (before the recent patch ruined the graphics on base PS4...). I thought the first game was great, will intended to play this one down the line.
I think it is best to play a game in order to review it. I dont really want to play the LoU2 at the moment as seems a bit too harrowing, so I just move on. Reminds me of the No Mans Sky outrage, I did buy that game and enjoy it, I felt a lot of the rage came from people who didn't have the game.
Saints Row 4 is £3.99 at the moment. While the frame rate is uncapped and doesn't hit 60fps that often, I liked this game enough to play through it years ago in the very rough PS3 version. Fun to play it again on PS4.

Been playing Dirt 5, this is the closest game to SEGA Rally I've played in years, great arcade racer.

Street Figher 5, I'll take that, I owned the game back
at launch. I wonder if they ever fixed the dithered shadows on PS4...
Re: Project CARS 3 - A Somewhat Fun Arcade Racer Going Through an Identity Crisis
How is the framerate? GT Sport's 60fps is really good, even on a base PS4.
Re: PS Plus Temporarily Discounted in Europe
Yep, I've managed to get a discount for past two or three years, always seems to be an opportunity.

I finally bought a fairly basic compatible steering wheel for PS4, so some GT Sport and Wreckfest I think.
