Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game is a good example of software that suffered for being a digital only release. Back on PlayStation 3, the title was removed from sale after licensing lapsed, meaning you couldn't buy it for a number of years. The good news is that it's coming back on PS4 in a matter of days, but if you want to ensure you always have access, Limited Run has some options for you.
While you'll of course be able to nab the game digitally from the PS Store, the aforementioned company has created not one, not two, but three physical editions of the fan favourite.
The standard edition comes with exclusive reversible artwork — one side is a brilliant Sonic Adventure-esque illustration from Scott Pilgrim artist Bryan Lee O'Malley himself. It also includes a Clash at Demonhead concert ticket and a full-colour instruction booklet (remember those?). It retails for $34.99.
Next up is the Classic Edition. It includes everything in the standard version, plus a Mega Drive-style game case (also with reversible artwork), a set of stickers, physical CD soundtrack, and an overworld map. This edition will set you back $54.99.
Finally, we have the K.O. Edition. This ultimate version of the game gets you everything in the Classic Edition, plus a hard-shell roadie case box "featuring working lights and sound", a hardcover guide book, the soundtrack on CD and cassette, wooden drum sticks, a trio of Sex Bob-omb guitar picks, an enamel pin, and trading cards. It's obviously the priciest of the lot, going for $139.99.
All three editions are being put up for pre-order in a week's time, on 15th January 2021 at 10am EST (7am PST or 3pm GMT). You'll have six weeks to secure your purchase.
So, there you go. Grab one of these, and you won't need to worry about any digital shenanigans. Will you be pre-ordering a physical version of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game? Level up in the comments section below.

It's my birthday at the end of February. Just putting that out there.
I like the Ramona slipcover art on the classic edition.
Wish ubisoft had put this out. Love the box cover, but i can never justify the postage fees on top of the cost of LRG releases
@Rob_230 Yeah, I hate seeing huge 3rd parties using these boutique retailers when they have the cash already to self-publish. The original spirit was to give indies a chance at boxed retail, not billion dollar international publishers.
@Quintumply happy birthday to you 🍰🎂
@Quintumply
Happy illegally-early-birthday!
I still have this on PS3... I thought it was OK, I don't like having to level up in scrolling beat 'em ups. Very nice packaging though. To be honest I'd be far more excited if Out Run 2 or GTI Club came back from delisted status.
I want it, but I'll just wait for the inevitable retail store version. Which will no doubt release before LR sends their own orders out!
The cover art is really good, the standard sonic-like cover is the best I think 😃
I prefer the digital version though since this type of game is perfect for 15-20 minutes of gameplay between the big AAA titles. But it's nice to have the physical version for the collectors.
Classic Edition for me just for the soundtrack
I still have it on PS3, but I think that Classic Edition is calling my name....
It's nice to see this game get a rerun. It's one of my favorite Beat-'em-ups, and it's just fun if you're a fan of the comic.
@Ristar24 Same here. Outrun 2 especially. The amount of versions I’ve bought of that is crazy. Amazing game.
Please Sega, if you don’t have the Ferrari license anymore, just “edit” the cars enough and rerelease it!!! Haha.
@Ichiban Yeah, I’m a little more hesitant with these companies now. I like to buy games I’ve really loved (I don’t just buy any old limited run games). But I’ve been burnt by a few now, so I may stop.
@SoulChimera Yep,I have the PC disc version of Out Run 2, both Xbox versions and the PSP, but that PS3 version looked great and I missed it. Its a timeless arcade game and SEGA should bring it back somehow... they seem to waste so many oppertunites.
@Ristar24 Yeah, I’m the same and I’d 100% buy it again. Haha.
I missed the PS3 version too as I’d bought it on the Xbox 360. Meant to get it before it was taken down but forgot to.
@SoulChimera I missed the 360 version too, but the original Xbox 2006 works fairly well on the 360 through BC. The is where digital only is a pain. I also have the Simpsons Arcade game on my PS3, which is now long gone as something you could purchase.
@Ristar24 Yeah, I’ve got that on the PS3 too.
Recently bought an RG351P because my GPD XD+ case snapped. It runs the PSP version of Outrun pretty well.
I like to have a load of old systems and MAME on the go.
I’m going to back the GPD Win 3 on indiegogo next week.
@SoulChimera @Ichiban What makes you two hopeful/sure that there will be a second physical run done by Ubisoft/in stores?
@KidBoruto Nothing to be sure of. May not happen. It has just happened before.
Most recently, Streets of Rage 4.
Like I say, it may be perfectly safe to assume it will only be done through Limited Run Games this time.
