@LOVDEATH8ROBOTS not true. Motion blur can be disabled (at least to a minimum) and there is wind in the world. Movement of trees has been reduced a bit compared to earlier versions (they did it already some patches ago). Games looks incredible also in den 60 Fps mode now.
@WallyWest I can confirm. Played a bit with the new patch 1.15. it’s a massive improvement. Picture is way more clean and no more shimmering on trees and bushes. Even these red spores looking fine now.
That’s nice. 4 weeks after the last patch. Curious if there are really visible upgrades in the performance mode. Transmog system is highly welcome, too.
@NeThZOR it makes money so companies are adjusting to this… As long as they still focussing on good Triple A games I’m ok with this. I don’t need a mobile GT or anything like that.
@Bismarck it’s one of the main hype titles for the PlayStation platform and a release to other platforms is not their intention currently. Furthermore this has nothing to do with accessibility options. A pc release soll follow later, I guess in 1-2 years.
Still a shame that they went with cross gen. Game will look very nice but very similar to the first one before. As ps5 only they could have made a real visual banger here.
@THEONE19 the shadow of the colossus remake runs with 60 fps and a framerate above 1080p. I think it’s fine and there are games that need a further patch more as shadow of the colossus.
@Olmaz thanks always hard to judge. From framerate, loading times, enemy account, lightning… and many more. This huge jump that we have some decades ago in video game visuals are not to expect with this gen but there are still a lot of details that are not longer possible on the last gen consoles.
As much as it hurts for ps4 owners that might struggle to upgrade to a ps5, but it’s time that the cross gen development is going to end soon. The capabilities of the ps4 are far exceeded. A great console with fantastic games and visuals. But after almost 9 years after launch, it’s time.
@Werewius especially the implementation by Insomniac (Rift Apart and Spider-Man games) is soo good. Fidelity modes running pretty fine and smooth while the former 60 fps modes are smooth as butter now
Still hard to decide in which mode to play.
@stu123 burn in is not such a huge thing anymore with current oleds.
When you play a single game for hundreds of hours, running the tv with the highest brightness (oled light) then it might become a problem but under normal conditions it’s very unlikely that a burn in will happen.
@BReal it’s a hot topic currently. We waited 18 months for the VRR feature. As currently not so many games offering a „native“ VRR support - it’s fine to write articles about it. When it will become a standard, no more articles are needed.
@Woogy then check your setup. The results especially in the Insomniac games are fantastic. I took long to finally get this feature but it’s pretty good.
@themightyant furthermore the statement from Sony that „it will boost performance“ is a bit misleading. It’s not wrong because when the framerate is uncapped it can succeed the capped framerate of course in some Momentes but people shouldn’t expect that VRR will boost performance in any magic way in their games.
@SystemAddict I expect it will help with Cyberpunk. The feature won’t be officially supported by the game this week but I would give it a try. I would expect that Cyberpunk receive a VRR update to a later date.
@KidBoruto with the games mentioned above you won’t notice such a huge difference. All of them running pretty stable, especially the games from insomniac. There was not really the need to hold off these games until VRR. I think the most expected title to receive proper VRR support would be Elden Ring.
@themightyant yeah true. In Germany a lot of people still have SD TVs but it still makes sense to offer HD channels or 4K streaming services. Why not offer such a feature. You see that this wasn’t the highest priority in Sonys list when they offer it 18 months after the consoles release. So nothing to complain. And it’s not needed for games. The console works totally fine on display without VRR or even 4K.
@themightyant not true in all of your points. The supported VRR range of TVs is mostly from 40 fps up.
Neuwert TVs true - but people bought a next gen console and some of them might already have bought a newer tv as well. LG offers these hdmi 2.1 features like VRR since their 2019 TVs for example. Three years now.
120 are not needed for VRR. But it ca be useful as well. Nearly every game with 120 fps mode struggles to hold this fps consistent in demanding scenes. Theses drops within the range from 80 - 120 hz can feel even smoother with VRR. In general I agree with you that more demanding games and next gen exclusives won’t offer a 120 hz mode every time.
@Ken_Kaniff it can be useful to iron out some minor flaws with frame pacing, slow downs and/or tearing. But yes, the hype around it is a bit too much. But it’s next gen and we expect nee features that weren’t available on the previous gen. So its nice but nothing groundbreaking. But I’m happy as well that the console finally receives the feature.
@Max_the_German we don’t know if devs will behave like that. So far most of the ps5 titles are optimised to offer stable framerates.
People will always complain whatever is happening.
VRR not available: Where the hell is the VRR support, Xbox has supported it since the One X.
VRR update arrives: Devs will become lazy.
…. Okay

Re: UK Sales Charts: Horizon Forbidden West Back on Top Thanks to PS5 Restocks
@Shstrick what should you expect from Xbox fans that only know about backwards compatibility and game pass? They aren’t used to get such great games.
Re: Soapbox: I Really Miss E3
What about „wait until e3“ from Phil spencer?
Do Xbox fans now have to wait an additional year for any games?
Re: Horizon Forbidden West Update Makes a Huge Improvement to Performance Mode on PS5
@KidBoruto unfortunately it’s the way to go with most games these days.

40 fps mode and VRR support also coming with further patches due to the PlayStation blog.
Perfect!

Re: Returnal, Sackboy: A Big Adventure PC Ports Appear to Leak
Nvidia leak was right.
Curious if we will see even a pc port of Gran Turismo 7 because it was also part of the leak, if I remember it right.
Re: PSVR2's Horizon Call of the Mountain Massively Upgraded in New Teaser
Not day-1 in Game pass!
Re: Rumour: Biomutant PS5 Version Discovered on PS Store Backend
Ahh cool. Would give it a try when it’s a further polished version.
Re: Assassin's Creed Origins 60FPS PS5 Patch Arrives 2nd June
Uff. If there would be more time and no GT7 & Horizon 2 then I would jump back in the game and finish the DLC.
Re: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Revealed for PS5, Out Next Year
Next (current) gen only. Happy about it.
Day-1 purchase.
Re: Gran Turismo 7 Patch 1.15 Available Now, Adds More Cars and Events

Re: No Man's Sky Now Has Its 20th Free Post-Launch Update
The post launch support is insane.
I just as myself - do they still earn money with the game?
Re: Next Gran Turismo 7 Update Includes Another Three Cars
@SpaceDonkey it’s all there but it needs further polishing.
True with the AI. Hopefully some update at least coming with the Sophy KI will help.
Re: Assassin's Creed Origins 60FPS PS5 Update Could Finally Drop Next Week
Uhh that’s a nice support. Origins was the last AC that I’ve played so far. Highly enjoyed the setting in the old Egypt

@lolwhatno that doesn’t change my first comment
Re: Battlefield 2042 Update 4.1 Reduces the Player Count of Breakthrough, Among Other Changes
Loool wasn’t this one of their main features in terms of pre-release marketing? Hahahaha
Re: The Last of Us PS5 Remake Allegedly a Major Holiday Release
They did the same with the Uncharted package - so it sounds highly realistically.
Re: Deathloop Adds Photo Mode, More Accessibility Options in Third Update
@Nepp67 what do you mean? Do you mean in terms of any additional DLCs?
Re: Latest PS5 Firmware Update Available Now, Here Are the Patch Notes
@TheDarkSide Sony betrayed us, nothing new in this update. Worst console ever!!!!

@PlayNation5 totally agree
Re: VRR Support Patched into Ghostwire: Tokyo

Happy to try out VRR with miles and Rift Apart this week

These guys are simply insane.
Nr. 1 Ps Studio. I think they have overtaken Naughty dog as well in terms of their engine.
