When it comes to video game glitches, it never rains, but it pours. No doubt you've already seen the David Lynch-inspired monstrosities pouring out of the recently released bug-fest Assassin's Creed: Unity. Well, now reports are emerging that the PlayStation 4 version of Alien: Isolation is experiencing some glitches of its own – albeit of a much more insidious nature.
Several users have reported that their attempts to play the game have been marred by corrupted save files, and game crashes. The source of the problem seems to be a recent patch, with the game's official Twitter account confirming that its developer is hot on the case. "We're aware that some people are experiencing problems on the PS4 with Patch 1.1," it said. "We're looking into it now and hope to have an update shortly."
Have you had trouble storming the Nostromo, or has it been a smooth ride? Nuke it from orbit in the comments section below.

What is wrong with developers these days, don't they try their updates before releasing them? This is getting ridiculous....
At this point I'm convinced these stupid f'ing companies are getting together and plotting ways to screw the consumer up the a$$. F the damn digital age, f discs, take me back to the days of mostly offline and cartridges and non-lazy devs who had talent, pride and actually had to put forth effort.
@ivanmata Of course they do, but its impossible to account for every variable that could cause any issue when the patch is out in the wild. Social media these days means that even a small issue from a patch only suffered by a handful of people is now reported on as a Major issue with the game
Don't know about the PS4 game, but on Xbox One I tried playing the game before it had fully installed onto the console (HUGE flaw with the XBone, by the way), and first time round it hadn't even loaded the first corridors into the game. I exited the first room and was floating around in deep space! So I gave it a few minutes, but about five minutes in I tried to grab the mission briefing docs and was told that these hadn't been loaded into the game either, so I couldn't proceed any further...
And someone told me this game wasn't just another bug hunt!
@MadchesterManc Agreed, I hadn't thought about that. Obviously not everyone is affected, but when you read it, it seems as if it's a major issue for the majority of players.
I wouldn't say developers today don't have talent, pride or laziness. Games now don't fit into 4K cartridges like they used to. However these are bugs I would expect on the open PC platform, where there are so many variables on setups. A closed system such as a console should give devs a smoother landscape to develop and test on, since every system is the same. That being said, Alien: Isolation has been bug free for me, and so have most games I've purchased on consoles.
I'm no developer. Just a gamer.
I was playing the game last night and I think the patch had installed...I had no issues greater than not getting the controls right and setting off flares by mistake....oh and getting evicerated by the Xeno repeatedly.
I think I'll leave the game aside until the issue with the patch has been sorted, just incase it effects me.
I could understand Sonic Boom and AC Unity because those were rushed, but this is a bouquet of oopsie daisies
It seems to be centered around Level 5, the Medical centre. Try to load a save within this level OR restart the level and then enter the elevator up to the medical center and the game crashes to a blue screen and that's it.
What, game breaking bugs you say? Sounds like more of the same to me.
@MadchesterManc Also, the new hardware architecture probably plays a part too.
New kit, new ways for something unexpectedly going wrong. Happens every cycle but as you pointed out, social media is more prominent now, so minor is no longer so.
Yep every time I try to get the lift in the medical bay in chapter 5 it goes to loading screen and then crashes with error code. I've looked online and from what I can tell this is widespread in the game making it basically unplayable
