Is this always going to be the trade off . Loose the raytracing for 60 frames ? Didn't miles morales have an option that gave you both but just no 4k resolution? I'm just curious because I could have sworn the selling point for these new consoles was so we didn't have to sacrifice as much . I hope it's just becuase these are still technically launch games . It's going to be alot harder to upsell people in a couple of years on a pro version of the ps5 when the general naritive around the ps5 now is how hard it is to get .
How did we go from what the industry was describing as obsolete with e3 to now every one and there mother hosting some kind of games event . I loved e3 and was bummed to see it go the way it did but this idea of every one hosting there own gaming event feels like there is going to be a lot of news that gets lost in the shuffle. I'm sure there is some level of communication between every one but even that has the potential to get mixed up . I guess we'll see . Who knows though this could ultimately prove we need e3 in its old form if for nothing else but organization.
@Splat I definitely don't want that. How ever what if they make a larger scale survival game mode like they added from the first one . That could actually be alot of fun.
I'm interested but seems like it's in the completely different direction I thought they would have gone . I thought there was a stroy a little wile back where there was some kind of document or poll conducted where they seemed interested in Making a stand alone single player or more streamlined version of the division with out so much the rpg element and more inline with old Tom Clancy games . Either way I'm always up for more division
So I'm actually a fan of the franchise . I really liked 1 and 2 . I picked this game up on sale almost out of a werid obligation, that being said i still haven't taken it out of the package. I m curious though is this part of the mainline series? Or is this an off shoot? I'm not a a fan (on paper I guess seeing as I haven't experienced it yet ) of the a ability to switch between all these characters. I only ask becuase this one hasn't been numbered , not that that necessarily means anything anymore but still has any one come across any news of there is or going to be an actual numbered sequel to 2 ? I personally haven't come across anything but maybe there was a story I missed .
@RudeAnimat0r you are right about that ,this game is definitely difficult to market to the casual audience for lack of a better term. I wonder if they are just going to let positive reviews and the fact that there is a very small pool of ps5 games to choose from to do most of the heavy lifting regarding sales .
@RudeAnimat0r I do get interims of team size its not an apple to apple comparison , The point I was more or less trying to convey is I don't think the size of the team or budget should be the deciding factor on choosing to evolve. this team is pretty talented, that much is aperient I mean just for the little bit I've seen of the trailers is super enticing . Now lets say your some one who isn't in the know and you just stumbled across this game from a commercial or what ever, visually and tonally its very easy to think this game isn't a rouge lite. we of course know it is because we frequent these sites we listen to podcasts we know the studio. but if you were able to produce something that looks and feels like something else how much harder would it have been to change the game from rouge lite to survival horror (I'm just suggesting survival horror because that's how it looks to me)
for the record I'm not trolling you or trying to start an argument I'm just enjoying the conversation. and I do share the same thought that not every game needs to be the same its cool we can get a high end arcade shooter .
@ztpayne7 i should clarify I don't dislike arcade shooters I just have to be in the mood for them . I'm just more curious because the production and everything about this game looks so ***** cool that i guess it's more surprising they chose to keep with there more traditional style of game instead of seeing if it would have worked as something else.
If I'm being totally honest I loved dead space 1 and when I first saw the trailer I was getting alot of the same vibes so when I saw that the game was going in a different direction I was a bit disappointed. All that aside I'm probably going to pick this up anyway I was just curious how the game could have felt if it was more story based
@RudeAnimat0r see i wonder if thats true in regards to them just being a smaller team. Sure they may not have the same budget as some of the bigger studios but thats not a reason they couldn't evolve or want to try something different. Look at Gorilla games . They went from making FPS games to one of the best action rpgs to date . I do get they are a bigger studio with more money but still they stepped out side there comfort zone and it paid off. don't get me wrong I'm not poo pooing the game or the studio for there style or choice of game. They make really good arcade games and I really like there other stuff I was just curious if they removed the typical hooks that they usely use in there games if they could have made a let's say a third person horror game.
Regarding the Arcade title turning people off i think that's more of a sociological thing. The name usely implies cheep smaller games ,hell even call of duty which is always full price is widely considered arcady and isn't look at as seriously when compared to other big showers . So if a game gets labeled arcady I feel it's a buzz word that hinders more then helps . Which shouldn't be the case .
Could this game worked with out it being a Rouge lite stile game ? Every thing about this game looks cool and give me a huge dead space vibe but the idea that it's an arcade shooter is the only thing that's putting me off . I'm just curious if they had just stuck to the story they wrote would the game have worked just as well .
@FatalBubbles lol no worries man . And that's even stronger honestly lol . As an update i have put the battery's back in and so far it's been ok . So who knows lol
@FatalBubbles that's even stranger to me that just removing it from the room solves the problem. I'll put the battery back in and see if that helps . It's still just weird that I've had it from launch have barely used it and it's just now acting up. Ah well thanks for the input in any case .
@God_of_Nowt I might try that . Not since the days of my old NES did I feel the need to smack my electronics around. Funny how sometimes the most basic of answers is usely the one that works lol.
@SJBUK thats what i had initially thought . I checked over the buttons I even used a small flathead screwdriver to see if I needed to pop out the PS button but it was already up as high as it goes . You are right though with kids and sticky fingers. They just can't be trusted lol
Quick question to you guys or i guess to any one who has the media remote . Have any of you been finding that the ps5 would randomly just turn on if the media remote was near by . The other day my ps5 just kept turning its self on and I couldn't figure out why so after a bunch of trial and error I decided I'd see what happens if I take the battery out of the remote and sure enough no more random boot ups. I've had the remote since launch and it only just started happening . Any one else experience this?
@Feena that would be a huge good will gesture that sony kind of needs right now. Coupled with the fact they just backtracked on the vita, ps3 stores no longer closing could be a good way to get the positive ball rolling
I'd say this is a perfect way to counter the xbox game pass dibocal of The Show 2021 buy they them selfs giving it for free but then that also has the potential to blow up in there face from the people that have already bought the game .
Yeah i saw the image before the headline and was like oh ***** my wish was coming true . But then the story was alot more depressing.
I like RSS but *****, ubisoft needs to stop making every game so multiplayer focused. If it's not multiplayer it's open world. Back in the day I could confidently say they were one of the best publishers of games . Now sure I still enjoy there games but every time I start a new one I can't help but think how much better it would have been if maybe the story was alittle more contained .
What's worth checking out is what rainbow six was gojng to be before it turned into seige . https://youtu.be/CCQysh2Ci0c
There is a little documentary video on you tube that talkes about what happend . If your a fan of the franchise its worth checking out
I really don't think this is as big a deal as people think. Sony probably got paid well enough for this deal that they could care less what Microsoft does with it . Also not that this speaks to its quality but The Show usely gets hit with a discount price almost a month after release year after year . (Worked at eb games for a bunch of years) I think the only people who could arguably say this is ***** are the people who buy the game on day one , but honestly those people don't care because chances are it's one of the few games they buy a year and they just love there baseball. And chances are most of them probably have no idea that it's available on Xbox this year and I'm willing to bet that alot of the same casual Xbox players who do want this aren't game pass subscribers and will probaly buy the game outright.
We in know like to think these kinds of deals are major pendulum swings but the sad reality is most consumers haven't a clue .
Which is why I think Microsoft knows this and if they want to get this game in as many hands as possible becuse other wise they spent a ***** tone of money with little to know return .
Seems like a werid statement to make .Ubisoft managed to do it for Rainbow Six which I belive they actually made a straight up ps5 version of the game, and patched the division 2 as well as ghost recon breakpoint, a game that doesn't even have a fraction of the player base overwatch has . But like most of you said it's alot easier to play the blame game instead of actually doing the work.
Its not a bad month, I am a bit bummed that the FF7 remake doesn't get the ps5 update. I do understand it why they wouldn't but it looks bad considering the last 2 months offered ps4 games with the ps5 version as well (Maneater, Control) sure there not as big as FF but I feel by offering the ps5 version as well your able to bring in more people and use that as bait to potentially attract more people to buy the next one .
Days gone on pc could be really cool especially with mods and what not . This game needs to be played by as many people as possible. I just finished it on the ps5 and it is a terribly under-rated game .
Also sony seems to be approaching there games hitting pc in a better way (depending on how you want to view it ) then Microsoft.
I feel Microsofts approach really hurt there consoles identity becuase there games were being mostly released day and date on pc . Where sony is doing it much later, after the game has done what it needed to do for the console and they never mention the release of a pc version when talking about there games. Honestly I'm just waiting for the console and pc market to be the video game market .
The way the video game industry is evolving it makes sense for the bigger company's to buy up the smaller ones . On paper sure it sounds bad becuase generly that means if one company's ends up buying up everyone the create a monopoly leading ultimately to a one console world.
However Microsoft doesn't seem as interested in buying all of these studios for the sake of having "exclusives" on there machine becuase I feel there business model has changed gears . They have been talking about unifing and breaking down the walls that restrict alot of console gamers from playing with one an other for some time now .
I feel like there spending sprees are to ultimately make game pass the top tear streaming gaming services that will be available on pretty much everything at some point . But In order for it to be worth it your going to need as many big games as you can afford/are up for sale. So sure being owned by a huge company usely is a bad thing how ever this time around if someone is willing to foot the bill and all they want in return is for you to make good games then it might not be as bad as people think .
This game had hands down the best capture the flag game mode offered in any multiplayer online game . The maps all be it there were only 3 if memory's serves correctly but the maps them selfs could be broken down based on the type of game mode . Plus the fact that there were so many ways to get around the map really made the game play fun and enjoyable. I'm not sure why Sony hasn't tried to roll out something like this again or even a new socom .
@wiiware I feel they just want a piece of the multiplayer pie.Once Capcom puts out a game even if its well received none of there games have the same kind of legs as something that you can constantly spend money on like a destiny ,Fortnite or a call of duty. Its like they want to keep trying different ways to stick MP in their RE games and every time it seems like it gets worse and worse .
@TechaNinja yeah man . Im not a fan of warzone my self. But I feel thats more on me then the game . I loved blackout. I still think thats ultimately the better BR game . It had enough interesting things added to it to make it more unique compared to the other BR games out there . My reason for disliking warzone is because it doesn't feel like a BR game. It feels like a larger drawn out deathmatch. The fact that you can reapawn team mates and get Loadouts as well as killstreaks its less a BR game and more a new COD game mode that could just be part of the regular multiplayer .
I do recognize that im definitely in the minority on this one though, the money they made alone off a free to play add one speaks volumes.
@kyleforrester87 there aren't any higher accolades i can give you sir other then this like button but rest assured if there was beer to hand you i would . I miss the days of online multiplayer games where if you were good it didn't matter what gun you had . Now games punish you for not sticking with the meta . Games now might as well ship with 3 guns cause ultimately thats what it always boils down to. But man CSS ***** man if you were good you could ***** ***** up with body armor and the USP
I wonder and this may be a huge stretch but what if this is a way to see how the steam comunity might react . my reason for thinking this is, steamOS is or runes on a version of Linux what if there just testing the waters for something maybe not terribly exciting, but could be something as mundane as adding steam support for the steam link or there support for there VR headsets.
Games actually a lot of fun and not a bad game to trophy hunt . Except for one trophy i think its called string together. Its hands down the most annoying trophy to get in any game . Its the only one I need to get the plat but I just don't think I can get it.
You know what dont try and get the trophy in this game it may actually ruin the game for you lol.
@Bytemare my guess is they would have liked to release it the same time, but because there are still so few ps5's out in the wild compared to ps4's if there was a tangible version of the game that was supiour but could only reach so few people that may end up hindering sales . Sure people will still wait for the ps5/XBSX My self included but that won't be nearly as big of a hit compared to something people could physically compare. Im guessing of course but I also wouldn't be surprised if sales aren't as high as they hoped-for we may get the next gen release date sooner then we think my guess is February.
The problem with even saying anything like that publicly is what happens if the same thing happens again to Microsoft happed to them last gen . The number of consoles sold are no where as high as they would have liked and the playstaion ends up being the dominant system again. How do you back track or prove that isn't the case because now you need to sell more games then you original thought but you've now openly admitted that the higher selling console is the one getting a lower quality version on your games. It will be interesting to see how this ultimately shakes out but my guess is Microsoft has a backup plan with game pass . I.wouldnt be surprised if we see gamepass on the playstation at some point down the road , and the way you get the "better" version of there games are through the purchase of game pass.
I feel the issue hear is Sony clearly wants to maintain the illusion that there platform is the ideal place to play COD but also don't want to be "that company" thats locking out major content to other players. So how do you keep this relationship going but make it worthwhile for your platform? I feel we all know that no amount of customer backlash is every going to stop this practice, and we all know if the shoe was on the other foot this same conversation would be going on just replace the company name . Im not sure there is a good solution to this at least from a customer stand point anyway . But the artical is right its pretty a pretty weak offering that I don't think Sony is actually making that much off of but at this point if they let it go chances are Microsoft will jump all over it and probaly never let go.
I wonder if this ends up being a game that could actually take advantage of cloud based gaming ? I can see Microsoft being able to implement it a little smoother only becuse of how game pass works but might be harder on Sony only because they don't have as established of a streaming service. (One that carries the same weight to it not from a technical standpoint )
I hate this and there is no excuse for adds in a almost $100 game (canadian price tax included) but playing devil's advocate what if this is a way legacy systems and servers can justife staying on longer . In the past it wasn't cost effective to keep servers and stuff going past a games prime despite maybe having a dedicated fan base . With times being the way they are there might be fewer people making the jump to next gen as fast as they normally would so this ends up being the way more games continue to ve made and sold on legacy systems . Again still no excuse for this it sucks im just wondering if this might have something to do with it .
Its not a bad idea on paper . As someone who worked for the company for 5 years I can say this is one that at least seems more of self preservation deal then anything else . That being said the company has a way of turning something seemingly harmless into bad business practice . Its one thing to make a deal with a company its an other to "force" your deal onto your customers . If they allow the staff to operate normally without pushing one product or an other this should be fine but if bad business gets in the way it could potentially hurt both Microsoft as Gamestop .
I dont think this has been mentioned yet or maybe it was but I missed it . Does anyone have any info on how they are handling multi users on a console ? Or i guess more specifically how primary user accounts will work. My wife and I both have ps4s so I just put my account on hers and made it my primary system so when I buy a game we both have it same as ps plus I haven't seen anything if things are going to still work the same. Has anyone else seen anything ?
@I_Like_It my guess would be that it was actually the retailers that broke the street date . So rather then through them under the bus by calling them out they just took responsibility for it . Im just guessing though.

Re: Resident Evil Re:Verse Is a PS4 Multiplayer Game, Will Play on PS5 via Backwards Compatibility
Re: Call of Duty: Warzone Has No Proper Meta Right Now, And Fans Love It
@TechaNinja yeah man .
Re: Call of Duty: Warzone Has No Proper Meta Right Now, And Fans Love It
@kyleforrester87 there aren't any higher accolades i can give you sir other then this like button but rest assured if there was beer to hand you i would .
Re: Sony Releases Official PS5 Controller Driver for Linux
I wonder and this may be a huge stretch but what if this is a way to see how the steam comunity might react . my reason for thinking this is, steamOS is or runes on a version of Linux what if there just testing the waters for something maybe not terribly exciting, but could be something as mundane as adding steam support for the steam link or there support for there VR headsets.
Re: Sackboy: A Big Adventure Sews Up Online Update Today, PS4 to PS5 Save Transfer
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Saves Can Be Transferred from PS4 to PS5
@Bytemare my guess is they would have liked to release it the same time, but because there are still so few ps5's out in the wild compared to ps4's if there was a tangible version of the game that was supiour but could only reach so few people that may end up hindering sales .
Sure people will still wait for the ps5/XBSX
My self included but that won't be nearly as big of a hit compared to something people could physically compare. Im guessing of course but I also wouldn't be surprised if sales aren't as high as they hoped-for we may get the next gen release date sooner then we think my guess is February.
Re: Bethesda's 'Will They, Won't They' Relationship with PS5 Rumbles On
The problem with even saying anything like that publicly is what happens if the same thing happens again to Microsoft happed to them last gen .
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's PS5, PS4 Bonuses Are a Bit Embarrassing
Re: There's Growing Concern Over the PS4 Version of Cyberpunk 2077 Following Delay
Re: NBA 2K21 Is the Next Game to Include Unskippable Adverts After Launch
I hate this and there is no excuse for adds in a almost $100 game (canadian price tax included) but playing devil's advocate what if this is a way legacy systems and servers can justife staying on longer . In the past it wasn't cost effective to keep servers and stuff going past a games prime despite maybe having a dedicated fan base . With times being the way they are there might be fewer people making the jump to next gen as fast as they normally would so this ends up being the way more games continue to ve made and sold on legacy systems . Again still no excuse for this it sucks im just wondering if this might have something to do with it .
Re: PS5 Revives One of PlayStation's Iconic Bugs
Its a feature not a bug lol
Re: Don't Be Surprised if GameStop Push Xbox Series S|X Harder Than PS5
Its not a bad idea on paper . As someone who worked for the company for 5 years I can say this is one that at least seems more of self preservation deal then anything else .
That being said the company has a way of turning something seemingly harmless into bad business practice . Its one thing to make a deal with a company its an other to "force" your deal onto your customers . If they allow the staff to operate normally without pushing one product or an other this should be fine but if bad business gets in the way it could potentially hurt both Microsoft as Gamestop .
Re: PS4 Games Will Take Advantage of PS5's New User Experience Features
I dont think this has been mentioned yet or maybe it was but I missed it . Does anyone have any info on how they are handling multi users on a console ? Or i guess more specifically how primary user accounts will work. My wife and I both have ps4s so I just put my account on hers and made it my primary system so when I buy a game we both have it same as ps plus I haven't seen anything if things are going to still work the same. Has anyone else seen anything ?
Re: Sony Apologises for PS5 Pre-Order Panic, More to Be Made Available
@I_Like_It my guess would be that it was actually the retailers that broke the street date . So rather then through them under the bus by calling them out they just took responsibility for it . Im just guessing though.
