Re: Talking Point: Does PS5 Have a Sequel Problem?

Otherbarry

There is absolutely no science to this statement but I'm going to say it none the less. Sonys even numbered consoles for what ever reason seem to be the consoles that have the better games where is the odd numbered ones all seem to do well enough but if you ask most people games people most think fondly over are ps2 and ps4 era games. I am by no means saying the ps 1 3 and 5 don't have great games unto them self but as time goes on those systems won't be as fondly thought about.

Re: PS Portal Gets So Much Better Today in Huge UI, Cloud Streaming Update

Otherbarry

@Dlld0Baggins that's super helpful thank you. That part of the article was confusing me for a min. I'm in the same boat I like using it but the extra price for the highest tear of plus isn't worth the feature honestly. It would be cool if the device supported usb storage to allow for digital games to be saved and played off of that natively as a way to bridge the gap but I suspect the allowance of any external drive would lead to some amount of piracy. Ah well thanks for the info though at least now I won't be staring at my portal confused as to why I can't play my digital games lol

Re: Rumour: PS6 Handheld Device Can Be Docked Like Nintendo Switch 2

Otherbarry

It would be cool if the handheld was the console that had the ability to be connected to a dock and played on the TV keep it digital to keep price down but then create different docks that also have a disk drive so that gives people the best of both worlds also keeping things affordable. They could then create a pro version of the dock rather them releasing a new system while still keeping things decently priced. I think an approach like that wouldn't be the worst idea.

Re: Xbox Is Stepping Up Its Backwards Compatibility Efforts Again, to the Envy of PS5 Fans

Otherbarry

I really feel the problem of Sony dropping backwards compatibility is an issue the Industry created years ago. In my opinion of course.

When the ps3 launched it was capable of playing all it's current previous gen games. That was one of the a big selling points back then, not to mention it had 4 usb ports sd card reader and was wirelessly able to conect to the internet not to mention it was also the cheapest Blu-ray player you could buy at the time.
Compared to the 360 it shouldn't have even been a question what people should have chosen but the price difference was far to large at the time also the 360 came out a year earlier.
All that aside one of the reasons the system was so high was instead of utilizing soft ware to handle the older gen games they were putting the components from the ps1 as well as the ps2 into the ps3.
At that time alot of people and outlets criticized the idea of BC to the point Sony created a different ps3 sku all together at first minimizing the backwards compatibility with the 80gig model then just dropping it all together with any other iteration.

Obviously cost will always be the factor as to why people lean one way or the other but the actual value of the tech at the time was in my opion a reasonable price to pay.
I feel of they weren't so scrutinized over BC back then they would have continued to be more forward thinking when it came to future systems.

Re: Older Live Service Titles Take Up Over 60% of Overall Playtime, Report Says

Otherbarry

I have a feeling this trend will ultimately leed to a new boutique style console. It would come from some company that can support and sustain it but if Handeled correctly would fill the need for the "mature" gamer. It would be no diffrent then the way Apple positiond them selfs sure it was a smaller market but it was one people didn't mind spending the money on.
If the console was positioned in a way that enticed devs to come and exclusively make games for there system with out fear of having to every develop any kind of live service or free to play game it could be interesting to see if that affected things a larger scale

Re: Microsoft Still Wants to Put Xbox Game Pass on PS5, PS4

Otherbarry

Its smart for sony not to allow it. Why give there competitors revenue , with out sonys user base MS is likely to hit a New subscriber wall sooner then later. If sony holds out MS will eventually have no choice but to make there games natively for sony anyway. There is no way it would be cost affective for MS to keep making there first party games only to have they free on there service. Sony is smart by waiting them out.

Re: US Children Want Subscriptions and Currencies for Christmas, Not Games

Otherbarry

Would the poll show the same results if the games Industry hadn't made the move to a live service model? It makes sense considering that the most popular multiplayer games are basically free to play. I really think it will be impossible to go back to the way things were. Now if one of these live service games got hit with a psn level hack that killed it for a month or so then maybe we can go back to the Good ol days lol

Re: Reaction: Sony Flubs First Proper PS5 Presentation in Over 18 Months

Otherbarry

I'll say this it wasn't good. But I also think that was on purpose. If you look at the bigger picture the Activision deal with Microsoft isn't completely dead and Xbox still has their show case coming up. Sure they probably don't have as much to show bit still you never know , I wouldn't be surprised if Sony had 2 of these ready to go .one if the deal went through and this one. The annoying part is if they were going to play it this safe should have just waited till they were comfertable to go hard. Just how I see this anyway

Re: Poll: Was The Last of Us - Episode 3 the Best One Yet?

Otherbarry

This was hands down the worst ep so far. They had done such a good job of capturing the game then we get this. The section of the game where you enter Bills town is filled with alot of really cool moments. I was really looking forward to the dialogue between Ellie and Bill. I really do not understand why they felt a story that is so dark needed something like this. The reason the more light parts of the game hit so hard was because everything was so grim , that made the player really appreciate those few moments. i truly believe the the viewers would have had the same experience the payers had ,had they stuck to the same story line.

Re: DualSense Edge PS5 Controller Is Coming Soon, and It's Pricey

Otherbarry

I'm not sure why any one is surprised by this price point , the xbox elite 2 controller came out at $200 when it came out in canada this is pretty standered pricing for higher end stuff. I get its not great and don't think it should be that high but I think some people are blowing the price of things out of proportion.

Re: PS Plus Premium's Logic Doesn't Even Make Sense to Sony

Otherbarry

I predict that with a year oct2022/oct2023 sony is going to drop the original iteration of PS plus , they will go back to allowing people to play online for free again which will make sense seeing as a lot of there games are coming to pc as well. Now the argument could be made that they have only released single player games on pc which is true for now but they are going to eventually release multiplayer games and some of those aren't going to be free to play.
I feel if they drop the one level of plus having just the 2 levels it won't seem so bad and at the higher price point for the current middle level they could probably stomach allowing the free online again as it will also come with the added bonus of looking like their the good guys allowing "free online"

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's Marina Bay Grand Prix Map Missing in Action

Otherbarry

@PegasusActual93 with out having the knowledge of how any of that works I can't really dispute it, that being said I don't think it would be as disorienting as you think . Let's take the division for example ,now I realize these are drastically different games but the way the zooming works is kind of what I was thinking but as I'm typing this I now realize that wouldnt be a solution. Not because I don't think they can do it but it would ultimately render all the scops irrelevant except sniper scopes.
Thank you for the info on the xbox controllers I didn't think they had any kind of motion but wasn't a hundred percent sure. So that eliminates that option. I still don't think l2 and r2 at the same time is the worst idea but still not perfect.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's Marina Bay Grand Prix Map Missing in Action

Otherbarry

@PegasusActual93 I see where your coming from and you are probably right ,however and I have no idea but could you not mimic the zooming in and out by manipulating fild of view ? . Ultimately it's fine and I'm sure people would get use to it just fine ,it's not bad by any means. As for the ability to switch shoulder views for Xbox you could have it be a press of L2R2. It's not the best solution but I still thunk it's better then not being able to do it on the move .
I did just think of something though does the xbox controller have any motion controls to it? You could have it just as simple as tilting the controller left or right that might be an alright solution.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's Marina Bay Grand Prix Map Missing in Action

Otherbarry

@PegasusActual93 i totally agree, if i had any notes to give its would be for the third person view to maybe change the way you switch over the shoulder view. As it stands the only way toi do it is when your not moving, i think it might be better to see if you could set it to either end of the touch pad, that wouldn't disturb the way the middle of the touch pad works. and the other thing would be when aiming down the sites i think it would be cooler if it stayed in third person view but zoomed in the same way other third person shooters do it.

other then those to critics this is looking to be a really fun game.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's Marina Bay Grand Prix Map Missing in Action

Otherbarry

I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised so far with the map design they have so far. I can not stress enough how much i hate the small 3 lane maps they have chosen to roll with for ever. These maps at first look seem to fallow that same formula however if you look around the maps there are actually multiple pathways that bleed into each other, ontop of that there is a tone of vertical spaces to explore.

Re: Not Everyone's Impressed with PS5's New DualSense Edge Pad

Otherbarry

If people want so many extra buttons wouldn't it just be easier to learn using a keyboard and mouse. I understand the form factor is muscle memory for most people regarding a controller but if they keep adding buttons I have to imagine at some point it would be just as easy learning KM

Re: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Playable One Week Early with Digital PS5, PS4 Pre-Order

Otherbarry

@JaaackTommyyy black out to me is still the better BR game forsure . The addition of loadouts the fact that you can come back after you've been killed , the constant mixture of weapons warzone took what actually made BR games interesting and found away to "call of duty" it , Blackout had a really good map decent weapons no respwans cool ways to unlock characters even the few locations with zombies was kind if neat .

Re: Sony to Take Action as PS5, PS4 Owners Play Less Than Anticipated

Otherbarry

This could be a good thing. This might get the ball rolling on getting back to the early days of ps4 where there where alot more events and just news in general. I don't mind the playing it close to the chest but i have to say as some one whos been around video games all their life This Era has been the least exciting due to the radio silence these company's have decided go with .

Re: TV Show Review: Resident Evil (Netflix) - Braindead Horror for the Riverdale Crowd

Otherbarry

I finished it last night , this show from top to bottom is unenjoyable, the pacing is not good , the characters are annoying and unlikeable, the music at times feels like it doesn't fit. There so many times where i wasn't sure what kind of direction they wanted to go with the show , like it starts off like it wants to be horror then there are some really poorly delivered lines that were supposed to be humor , then of course the teen drama...

I will say this there where a few instances of things that i did appreciate as a long time RE fan the lickers were actually really cool , they also added an old school puzzle that needed to be solved in RE 1/2/3 fashion.
AS I did appreciate that stuff it also led to more of my frustration because who ever did make this clearly knew enough about the source materiel to add these things and yet with the knowledge of RE still managed to go in this direction .

Re: Poll: Is The Last of Us: Part 1 Really a 'Cash Grab'?

Otherbarry

I know it doesn't make any sense to do this and I don't actually fall in the camp of it being a cash grab but see how it can definitely be viewed that way, but what they should have done as a good will jester and let be honest good PR , they should have just made this game free for the month of ps plus. Amd I'm not talking just the premium tear I'm talking right from the bass version of plus.

The other option which I don't know is even possible was they should include the ps5 update to 2 as well and done it as a complete bundle. If they had done that the argument about it being a cash grab wouldn't hold as much water. People could still claim its a cash grab but if your being offered 2.5 worth of games in one package those people complaing are fewer in numbers .

Re: Skull & Bones Finally Sets Sail for PS5 in November, a Day Before God of War Ragnarok

Otherbarry

Im no conspiracy theorists, but if they don't seem overly bothered by releasing their game the day before God of war this could just be the excuse they need to blame for poor sales . Despite ubisofts track record I am a big fan of alot of their franchise, that being said as a fan I am very tired of there approach of dumping out a game that has the bones of a potential good game but needs way more time in the oven. Having God of war basicaly distract players kind of offers them that time . Again I'm just guessing they game could be fine but my gut says this is going to be a for honor ,rainbow six , the division scenario where it'll be a year or so later does this game come into its own

Re: Hot Shots Golf (PS1) - Utterly Iconic Arcade Golf

Otherbarry

I'll never forget getting my og ps1 and it coming with a demo disk and hot shots was on it . Fell in love with thus franchise instantly. Have bought every iteration of this game since. My only complaint is in the hotshots golf they added mini put which was almost better then the game its self. No other version after that had mini put ,which makes no sense . You'd think at the very least the last one would have considering it would have made for a nice social area that that game really could have used . But other then mini put this game slaps

Re: LEGO Brawls Smashes its Way onto PS5, PS4 on 2nd September

Otherbarry

This arguable has the potential to be huge just based on what you could create . If they nailed the combat this could be a hit. They biggest thing it has working against it is its own ambition. Having that many custom characters on paper sounds great but there is no way they could possibly have a different move set for all of them and that's where your own ambition can stifle you . Who knows id be curious to see how this shakes out in the end.

Re: Video: In Defence of The Last of Us' PS5 Remake

Otherbarry

If the work is put in, there is no reason it shouldn't come with a price tag that supports it. That being said knowing how the current financial climate is it wouldn't have hurt to get a little more bang for your buck , for instance if this bundle included a ps5 version of the last of us 2 i don't think anyone would bat an eye at this.

Re: PS Plus Collection's Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Won't Upgrade to PS5 for Free

Otherbarry

I know as a customer we should always demand more considering how little our doller gets us these days , however if work is put in then it's not unreasonable to want to be paid for it. Also if we keep approaching things with this mindset who's to say devlopers might stop putting in the work to upgrade past gen games if they don't think they are going to get anything out of it.

Re: Xbox Appeared to Embargo PS5, PS4 Versions of Some Showcase Games

Otherbarry

On paper the idea of this embargo makes sense however I feel it's ultimately wasted money to have in place . These show cases are generally only viewed by the most hard core enthusiasts and industry people. Those groups of people generally have a good understanding that if a game shown doesn't say exclusive its probably coming to something else . The general public wouldn't even be aware of this till much later anyway making the embargo all the more useless.
Thats just how I see it anyway.

Re: Wanted: Dead Brings Daft Character Action to PS5, PS4

Otherbarry

This reminds me of a launch Era ps3 game published by Sega that was a werid arcade style third person shooter where if I am remembering right had the crazy taxi mechanic where you had to go through the level as fast as you can before tge timer ran out but you would get more time based on your kills, you of course could get combos and stuff but yeah getting those same vibes from this .

Re: Assassin's Creed Origins 60FPS PS5 Patch Arrives 2nd June

Otherbarry

@Nightcrawler71 you know what you might be right i didnt think of that , I had forgot that there where a few other AC games after Origins for some reason i thought that was more recent one. Here hoping I would like to go back and get the Plat in Wildlands but when i tried to go back to it recently i found it almost unplayable with the 30fps. I've been spoiled with the 60 and in some cases 120fps

Re: Reaction: Sony's Positive PS Plus Reboot Proves the Value of Catalogues

Otherbarry

@Milktastrophe Your probably right , that being said i don't think the licencing thing would be that big of an issue . lets not forget Sony owns the patent on Blu-ray and is able to collect royalties from every game that sells , sure not huge money but whos to say a mutually beneficial agreement couldn't be worked out lol . Again though i ultimately feel your right and and it seems unlikely would be cool though only because i still have a bunch of old ps1 ps2 games

Re: Reaction: Sony's Positive PS Plus Reboot Proves the Value of Catalogues

Otherbarry

what would the possibility be that older disk games we own would be playable or at the very least used as a sort of verification check . For example I own a copy of MGS for the ps1 if they add it to the new plus subscription with the ability to buy it if i just put my disk in would there be a way to acknowledge that and allow me to download and play it as if i purchased it off the store
