Re: As PSVR2 Dies a Slow Death, One of Its Best Devs Confirms Mass Layoffs

Northern_munkey

I just bought my psvr2 specifically for GT7. It's a superb bit of kit and GT7 is a whole new game using it. It's a shame Sony hasn't done more to support it but is it all sonys fault? What's wrong with the big devs supporting it? EA's formula one game has a vr mode which I may have a look at further down the line but I'm not a huge fan of the F1 games. It baffles me how EA didn't have codemasters include a vr mode for their wrc rally game as I would be playing the heck out of that. At least I know that if ever I decide to get a PC then I can use the psvr2 on that and by all accounts it's pretty damn cool on the pc too. If GT7 is the only driving game that I ever play in vr again I've got to be honest and say I wouldn't be bothered..its that damn good.

Re: Crimson Desert Improves Image Quality on Base PS5 with Simple Upscaling

@KundaliniRising333 @lazarus11 despite our differing opinions about marathon I have to agree that 1) the ps5 Pro version is significantly better than the base ps5 (I installed it on my pro and the og ps5 to compare the two) and 2) I feel the review wasn't that fair to the game. Granted I've not played a lot of it due to time constraints but it's a rock solid 8 for me. Glad I purchased it.

Re: 'We're in It for the Long Haul': Bungie Rejects Rumours It Could Move on from Marathon After Unremarkable PS5 Sales

@wildcat_kickz these commentors just don't like it when games are not made for them. They don't like other gamers enjoying themselves. I've not been on marathon over the weekend and that's because I got lost in GT7 vr which is just superb. I also used my last store voucher to purchase crimson desert which I'll get round to playing properly soon so that means marathon is going to have to be every other evening with you guys. I've stretched myself too thin 🤣

Re: PS6 Could Be Cheaper Than Expected, Despite $1,000 Concerns

Northern_munkey

@Vyse_the_Legend "PlayStation Pro's = People with a lot of income." Rubbish. I have a very modest income and my wife's quite moderate too. I just upgraded to a ps5 Pro and a psvr2 but I saved like a penny pinching hermit to get them luckily before this price hike. I understand your point but I don't agree with it.

Re: Feature: PS5 Price - Why Does It Cost So Much in 2026?

Northern_munkey

@Rich33 another thing I really like is how it can make ps4 games look sharper. Dirt rally 2.0 looks a little bit crisper and seeing as that's one of my main titles I play it was a nice little bonus. I think the HDR is better on the pro too and I did notice the colours seem to be more vibrant. I've not changed any settings on my TV and my HDR calibration on the pro is the same as my base ps5 which looked a bit washed out on some titles.

Re: Feature: PS5 Price - Why Does It Cost So Much in 2026?

Northern_munkey

@Boxmonkey I guess you were. A few of my mates had ps4 pros and they complained about the fans as well. I never had a ps4 pro so I don't have any experience other than my brothers weed whacker but I had to get a ps5 Pro just to have GT7 running at its absolute best. The leap from GT7 running on the base ps5 to having it running in 4k@60 with Ray tracing on the pro is to me just jaw droppingly awesome and I can't wait to get my psvr 2 either this weekend or next. So glad I got one when I did.

Re: Crimson Desert (PS5) - A Generational Open World Buried in Early Access Cruft

Northern_munkey

@Ambassador_Kong you can't compare the two games as both are completely different. I love marathon and I just bought crimson desert and from what I've played so far it's pretty decent. I didn't think marathon deserved a 9 and personally I'd have given it an 8 based on the fact I don't really like the UI. I think CD should be around an 8 in all fairness as its better than a lot of games similar to its ilk that have scored better.

Northern_munkey

@Member_the_game I bought my pro from argos last weekend. Very nice machine and the step up from ps5 to ps5 Pro is much bigger than the ps4 to ps4 pro. The only big difference I noticed about my brothers ps4 pro over my base ps4 was the noise.. Jesus it was as if he had a leaf blower turned on in his room..loving my ps5 Pro.

Re: PS5 Players Seemingly Skip Marathon as Sales Estimates Look Very Weak

Northern_munkey

@Golfman159 if you are running any shell other than rook the wait time to get in a match can be a bit annoying as it will always start you and your squad right at the start of the round. If you play as rook you will find matches rapidly as it will start you in with 15 mins left max sometimes less. It's not ideal granted but I prefer starting a round with the full time allocated rather than halfway through like arc raiders does.

Re: PS5 Players Seemingly Skip Marathon as Sales Estimates Look Very Weak

@Boxmonkey "This game has flaws that aren’t being addressed or even recognised by the msm and fans playing." Show me a game that's perfect and I mean 100% perfect. Every game has flaws but what you see as flaws may not be the same for everybody. I'm not going to say marathon is perfect as it has things that bug the crap out of me but they are personal preferences to how I'd like the game to be. Regardless of what you think (I'm presuming you didn't play the free server slam to back up your claims) marathon is top quality in terms of stability online and overall presentation and the controls are very responsive and slick. It's not for you and that's fine but please try and show a bit of support for your fellow gamers that really are having a blast instead of dog pilling on every marathon thread. Incidently what is your ideal game?

Re: Marathon's Cryo Archive Locks Out a Lot of Players, But Bungie Is Listening to Feedback

Northern_munkey

I didn't try cryo out but that was mainly because I was trying out other games on my pro to see which were improved the most (AC shadows so far.) Now I love marathon and I love its deep game play and the gun play is sublime. I love the grind and for me the week long grind to level my shell with a load out to face the cryo challenge is what it's all about. I find playing solo a lot of fun and quite nerve wracking but in a squad with friends is where it shines. I think bungie should have different modes for those that don't have much time or those that just want to play solo but for me on a personal level marathon is just right for me as it stands but that UI and menu system really need a good working over. Maybe this weekend I'll be worthy enough to jump in the cryo.

Re: Embattled Publisher Nacon's Three Biggest Dev Teams Are Now in Trouble Too

Northern_munkey

@Nexozi codemasters didn't drop the ball at all. EA gave them no time to cook their game and they had to use the ancient UE4 engine. Dirt 2.0 is currently the GOAT for us rally nutters and EA wrc is a solid rally game. I found WRC 10 to be the one I'd award 3rd place to. I bought sebastian leob rally for £3.50 in a psn sale and even though it looks rougher than Daniella westbrook it's a surprisingly good rally sim. EA did to codemasters what I predicted when it was announced they had bought them the F**Kers..
