Re: Highguard Permanently Shuts Down on 12th March

@LogicStrikesAgain "I hate diversity." I dislike forced diversity because then it's not diverse as its taking away the choice that some people need to feel included etc. Its a hard one to put across in the right context so nobody gets upset. I don't understand the mentality behind gamers wanting studios to fail and be closed either. I'm not a fan of TLOU games but I don't jump in every article saying I want them to fail and ND be closed. I can see exactly why people love them and I'll acknowledge they are brilliantly made games (all 25 remakes 🤣) but they are not my cuppa. People were hating on marathon before it was even shown off properly and are still trying to make their voices heard above all others..its downright depressing. If you don't like something great but to keep constantly complaining about it can't be healthy. What I played of highguard was OK but nothing special. The graphics and sound was good and the gunplay was OK too but it really needed better overall design. Such a shame and I wish the devs luck with whatever their future holds.

Re: Hands On: Marathon Is Dense, Demanding, and Drop Dead Gorgeous

@Ambassador_Kong fair points. Arc raiders has proven that a £40 live service game can succeed and thrive if its a good game and done well. Marathon is equally as good as AR and it's user interface is equally as clunky as AR's is. They both have micro transactions to support their eco systems. Once again I'm not attacking anybody for having a different opinion to mine but I'm getting fed up with the same old faces that have had it in for marathon since it was first revealed and continue to do so. There is such a thing as constructive criticism and outright negativity for the sake of it.

@Ambassador_Kong I'm not camped out here. I'm following this discourse in between the other things I'm doing today. Also I'm not attacking everybody who has a differing opinion to mine just those that constantly spout the same old rhetoric about every live service game that is released and I mean every game. You could just hit the ignore button if my presence irritates you or accept my opinion for what it is..my opinion.

Re: Hands On: Marathon Is Dense, Demanding, and Drop Dead Gorgeous

@UltimateOtaku91 exactly. I'm playing this weekend to get a grip on the games mechanics so when it drops I know exactly what I'm doing and I'm in a much better position to help others out that have not taken part in this weekends beta. Judging the game on this build is a moot point because as I've said earlier it's not complete and nobody knows how old this version currently is. I've just pre ordered it because I'm loving it and to be honest i prefer the playstyle over Arc raiders.

Re: Hands On: Marathon Is Dense, Demanding, and Drop Dead Gorgeous

@Cherip-the-Ripper it actually is really good but it's not an easy game to get into. It's convoluted and really needs to be made more accessible in terms of menu navigation etc but the core gameplay and gunplay is very slick. I'd be lying if I said I didn't find it confusing at first but after a few hours it's starting to click with me and I'm finding things a lot easier. I'm not trying to convert people into buying this because I like it a lot but I do feel there is a lot of unnecessary negativity which I personally find unwarranted.

Re: Hands On: Marathon Is Dense, Demanding, and Drop Dead Gorgeous

@Boxmonkey @JayJ my criticisms of pushsquare over the years are well documented but just because they've chosen to support this game because it's actually really good dosnt mean they are shills or getting some form of monetisation. I take it you have proof of this? I'll be accused of being a shill but I'm not invested in this game yet because I'm playing the free beta which does state at the start that it's practically a work in progress so until its actually released next week nobody knows how old this build could be. Everybody wants to be part of the problem.

Re: Hands On: Marathon Is Dense, Demanding, and Drop Dead Gorgeous

@Sanquine I love the gunplay. Its really snappy and responsive. I prefer this to arc raiders as its first person and much more my thing. People moaning about no story but they are lapping up arc raiders which has no story too. Yes the UI and menus need a bit of work but Arc raiders menus and UI is equally as clunky. A lot of hullabaloo over nothing again.

Re: Marathon Server Slam Gets Underway Today - Here's Everything You Need to Know

Northern_munkey

Well it's pretty much what I expected. The gunplay is tip top and the graphics are very nice and crisp. Smooth as hell. The UI could do with a bit of work but it's not that bad once you get used to it. I prefer the first person view over the 3rd person view in arc and I think I'm going to enjoy marathon more. I've not had too many issues joining games but then I have my Nat settings configured properly. Wicked so far and I can't wait to get stuck in proper over the weekend.

Re: For Some Reason, Sony Apparently Got Gran Turismo 7 Running on Switch 2

Northern_munkey

No I don't believe it. With the advent of AI generated videos I can't honestly see it. Recently there's been vids floating around of the next NFS entry which turns out is AI generated. I don't put much stock in what Grubb says (an apt name if ever there was one) and I think he just spouts any old crap he happens across to try and stay relevant. Why would Sony port GT7 to the switch 2? As great a game as it is it dosnt run flawlessly on a base ps5 unit so I can't see the switch 2 handling it without some serious concessions.
