@LogicStrikesAgain "I hate diversity." I dislike forced diversity because then it's not diverse as its taking away the choice that some people need to feel included etc. Its a hard one to put across in the right context so nobody gets upset. I don't understand the mentality behind gamers wanting studios to fail and be closed either. I'm not a fan of TLOU games but I don't jump in every article saying I want them to fail and ND be closed. I can see exactly why people love them and I'll acknowledge they are brilliantly made games (all 25 remakes 🤣) but they are not my cuppa. People were hating on marathon before it was even shown off properly and are still trying to make their voices heard above all others..its downright depressing. If you don't like something great but to keep constantly complaining about it can't be healthy. What I played of highguard was OK but nothing special. The graphics and sound was good and the gunplay was OK too but it really needed better overall design. Such a shame and I wish the devs luck with whatever their future holds.
@SystemAddict asseto corsa rally looks amazing. One of my rally cohorts is currently playing it on his pc and he's constantly taunting me the rotter. The devs have confirmed the console versions are well into development so hopefully by the time it arrives the pc master racers will have beta tested it to high heaven for us.
@LogicStrikesAgain yes the resets keep the balance and make the game accessible for new players. Arc raiders expeditions took a huge grind and the payoff was quite disappointing after all the hard work you put in. I can't wait for the 6th..
@DaPrince on ps5 only? You'd better let the pc players and the xbox gamers that were playing at the weekend know that they were not supposed to be. Also its not a BR game you nit.
@Ambassador_Kong fair points. Arc raiders has proven that a £40 live service game can succeed and thrive if its a good game and done well. Marathon is equally as good as AR and it's user interface is equally as clunky as AR's is. They both have micro transactions to support their eco systems. Once again I'm not attacking anybody for having a different opinion to mine but I'm getting fed up with the same old faces that have had it in for marathon since it was first revealed and continue to do so. There is such a thing as constructive criticism and outright negativity for the sake of it.
@Ambassador_Kong I'm not camped out here. I'm following this discourse in between the other things I'm doing today. Also I'm not attacking everybody who has a differing opinion to mine just those that constantly spout the same old rhetoric about every live service game that is released and I mean every game. You could just hit the ignore button if my presence irritates you or accept my opinion for what it is..my opinion.
@8thDoctor that's a fair point. It's hard to take most of the detractors seriously and I didn't mean offence so accept my apologies. Most of the usual suspects showed up in force to voice their usual very negative spin and they didn't fail in their mission.
@UltimateOtaku91 exactly. I'm playing this weekend to get a grip on the games mechanics so when it drops I know exactly what I'm doing and I'm in a much better position to help others out that have not taken part in this weekends beta. Judging the game on this build is a moot point because as I've said earlier it's not complete and nobody knows how old this version currently is. I've just pre ordered it because I'm loving it and to be honest i prefer the playstyle over Arc raiders.
Mostly marathon as it's damn cool but I do have a few rally challenges to reclaim on EA wrc so I need to get those bragging rights back. Have a great weekend everybody 👍
@SuperSilverback I'm really digging it. It's taking a bit of working out what augments do what and which health/shield regeneration are what but I'm loving the whole not having my hand held discovery. If I'm on gimme a shout and we will team up.
@JayJ I read the piece about the collectors edition and my take was that they were showing that its a really cool collectors item. Being enthusiastic and acknowledging the effort that somebody has put into crafting such a thing is not pushing it on anybody.
@Cherip-the-Ripper it actually is really good but it's not an easy game to get into. It's convoluted and really needs to be made more accessible in terms of menu navigation etc but the core gameplay and gunplay is very slick. I'd be lying if I said I didn't find it confusing at first but after a few hours it's starting to click with me and I'm finding things a lot easier. I'm not trying to convert people into buying this because I like it a lot but I do feel there is a lot of unnecessary negativity which I personally find unwarranted.
@Boxmonkey @JayJ my criticisms of pushsquare over the years are well documented but just because they've chosen to support this game because it's actually really good dosnt mean they are shills or getting some form of monetisation. I take it you have proof of this? I'll be accused of being a shill but I'm not invested in this game yet because I'm playing the free beta which does state at the start that it's practically a work in progress so until its actually released next week nobody knows how old this build could be. Everybody wants to be part of the problem.
@8thDoctor well ammo is quite easily obtained by looting the bots corpses and there are ammo supply crates. Lots of augments to increase speed, stamina and health..I don't know maybe I've just been paying more attention instead of looking for reasons to knock the game.
@Sanquine I love the gunplay. Its really snappy and responsive. I prefer this to arc raiders as its first person and much more my thing. People moaning about no story but they are lapping up arc raiders which has no story too. Yes the UI and menus need a bit of work but Arc raiders menus and UI is equally as clunky. A lot of hullabaloo over nothing again.
I agree that the menus and UI need some work but it's right up my street and I'm still buying it. It's a steep learning curve. Seeing as I was finding it hard to sleep last night even though I was dead tired I was playing it around 4:00am and managed to work out what was what and where the extraction points were.
@liathach " i dont think it is partiularly inclusive which is a dangerous route to go down." Why? What isn't particularly inclusive about it? And why would it be a dangerous route to go down?
Well it's pretty much what I expected. The gunplay is tip top and the graphics are very nice and crisp. Smooth as hell. The UI could do with a bit of work but it's not that bad once you get used to it. I prefer the first person view over the 3rd person view in arc and I think I'm going to enjoy marathon more. I've not had too many issues joining games but then I have my Nat settings configured properly. Wicked so far and I can't wait to get stuck in proper over the weekend.
@wildcat_kickz one of my fellow rally nutters has his own YouTube channel. He recently bought himself a really great pc and a vr headset and his dirt2.0 vids are just amazing to watch. His previous GT7 vids were awesome too. I'm not buying a PC because I don't want to get stuck in the whole money pit thing again but I'll bite on the pro and psvr2.
@Wakkawipeout I agree with you. I love forza horizon 5 but I really prefer racing games like dirt 2.0,EA wrc,GT7 and I'm trying to get to grips with project motor racing but that still needs a bit of work and it's bloody difficult which is good.
@naruball @wildcat_kickz it's not in a great place granted but the over exaggeration about it being dead is laughable. VR is a relatively niche platform anyway so I never expected it to be a massive seller. I'm still going to buy one just for GT7 and I'm still toying with upgrading to the ps5 Pro again just for GT7. Everything else is just a bonus.
@joey302 I really like wrc 10 but generations is a bit knob. HDR is terrible and the handling of the cars is really floaty especially using a steering wheel. Steel rising is a brilliant game and one which any self respecting souls like fan should jump into.
No I don't believe it. With the advent of AI generated videos I can't honestly see it. Recently there's been vids floating around of the next NFS entry which turns out is AI generated. I don't put much stock in what Grubb says (an apt name if ever there was one) and I think he just spouts any old crap he happens across to try and stay relevant. Why would Sony port GT7 to the switch 2? As great a game as it is it dosnt run flawlessly on a base ps5 unit so I can't see the switch 2 handling it without some serious concessions.
@JayJ it's called an opinion..ever heard of them? Also seeing as they are an integral part of the game..you know the story bit..I'd say its a pretty important part of the game.
@JayJ test drives biggest issue is the crap story and awful character graphics. The voice acting is bloody awful too. The actual driving is quite good but unfortunately forza 5 and the crew motorfest are so much better.
@Frmknst "Kinda hilarious though how public reception changed for no reason whatsoever. Just shows yet again how braindead so many gamers are." And how oblivious and insulting others are for no reason other than pent up bitterness.
@Tatarimokke yes I enjoyed the first 2 but I don't have the time at the moment. Marathon is a pick up and play title for me but all my time is pretty much spent between dirt 2.0 and EA wrc.

@streetshadow I'm eager to see the improvements to the UI and menus. That was the only gripe I had about the server slam.

Personally I can't wait. Got mine installed and ready to go as soon as that countdown reaches zero.
