Re: Game of the Year: Aaron's Top 5 PS5 Games of 2025

Northern_munkey

Nice to see Arc Raiders at the top of the list. Such an awesome game which has me glued to the ps5 for a few hours most evenings. Imperfect audio? The audio in AR is the best I've heard in any game and you know exactly which direction the action is at and it's very easy to hear the rats trying to sneak on you.

Re: 'Sony's Never Experienced This Phenomenon Before': PS5 Smash Hit Gran Turismo 7 Getting Stronger Over Time

I've always enjoyed racing games. However the ps5 threw 3 incredibly great driving games at me and those are in order of my preference..
1)Dirt rally 2.0
2)EA wrc
3)GT7
These 3 games transformed how I play and how I approach the racing genre. They are also responsible for making me fork out for a decent sim racing wheel and frame to house it. GT7 is a stunning game that is accessible to everybody and can be tweaked to accommodate all levels of driving abilities. I initially wasn't an adopter of GT7 because of all the negative things I'd read about the graphics being rubbish etc, etc, etc but when @Kidfunkadelic83 put his sale pitch to me (much the same way I allegedly bullied him into buying the T598) I took the plunge and bought it and I love it and one thing became very clear to me and that was all those people talking smack about the graphics have obviously never played it properly or have extremely bad eyesight. I'm a rally enthusiast foremost but that does not mean I like GT7 any less and I'm waiting for GT8 patiently seeing as PMR has turned out to be such a mess. Asseto corsa rally next year. Oh I'll be taking GT7 for a big spin soon once I get my ps5 Pro and psvr2..what a game.

Arc raiders for me and the obligatory rally session. I just bought painkiller in the sale so I'm also up for a bit of silly turn your brain off doom style mayhem. I must get back to BF6 as well because I've really been neglecting it and it deserves more respect from me but you know..Arc raiders. Anyhow have a great weekend folks 👍

Re: Hogwarts Legacy Tops an Absurd 40 Million Copies Sold

Northern_munkey

Being a 53 year old gamer and in no way a Potter fan I really liked this game and enjoyed my time with it. When the ps5 was announced this was one of the games that immediately caught my eye and it turned out to be one of my favourite chill out games. I can't comment on the differing spell colours or descriptions of other spells as I had zero knowledge of the Potter verse but I still enjoyed the game. When I get my ps5 Pro I will jump in again to see how much better it is.

@Balaam_ when lotf launched it was a bit ropey but I never saw the resolution drop at all..it had frame rate dips and some screen tearing but the devs were on it super fast and it was sorted in a few days. Everything that was a bit iffy was super over exaggerated to the point I was actually laughing my arse off at some of the bullsh*t I was reading. I can't wait for this one.

@LogicStrikesAgain I'm an unapologetic ps5 fanboy..it would be a bit strange to include myself on a PlayStation centric site if I wasn't. Anyhow I think this game looks pretty decent. I loved left 4 dead 1+2 and I still enjoy a spot of back 4 blood as well. I was really enjoying BF6 until I bought arc raiders and that's my go to online game for the foreseeable. I hope this turns out to be great.

Re: 'The Franchise Has Not Met Your Expectations': Call of Duty Vows to Overdeliver After Black Ops 7 Misfire

Northern_munkey

If I'm going to get interested in another CoD entry it will need a new game engine that delivers a similar destruction on a BF6 level. It will also need to get rid of the archaic install system as that is just ridiculous and very convoluted. Return warzone to its original incarnation with zero rainbow coloured characters and cartoon nonsense and no "wannabe" very minor annoying celebs. Keep it real in a modern era or at least a conflict that hasn't been covered yet such as the Korean war or a full blown viet nam campaign.

Re: The Boys Brings Some Much-Needed Heat to PSVR2 Next Year

Northern_munkey

@LifeGirl the comic run was exactly the same. Just when you thought you had read and seen everything Ennis just ramped it up. My only gripe with the series is that it dosnt really follow the plot of the comics and major characters such as love sausage are relegated to cameos. Still an awesome series but could have been better. We won't even discuss preacher.

Re: New PS5 Controllers Said to Be Optimised for Better Battery Life

Northern_munkey

My original dual sense that came with my ps5 was truly awful in terms of battery life..After a few weeks of use it was always on charge. I replaced it with a midnight black version a little over a year ago and this one stays charged for considerably longer considering how much I use it which is a few hours most evenings (damn that arc raiders.) So is this actually a new thing?

Re: Gran Turismo 7's Biggest Update Yet Available to Pre-Load on PS5, PS4 Now

Northern_munkey

@yume26 in my honest opinion its worth every penny. The T598 is very smooth whereas the logitech is quite gritty in feeling. The pedals are far superior with the T598 being Hall effect sensors whereas the logitechs are potention meters and just can't compete. I would like to upgrade mine to the load cell pedals when they are released next year. Also worth mentioning is the T598's wheel is 30cm whereas the logitechs is 28cm. The T150 was 28cm and believe me the extra 2cm makes a difference..so the wife tells me 🤣

@yume26 sorry I didn't reply as I was so damn busy today at work. I myself like @Kidfunkadelic83 have a thrustmaster T598 which is a really good solid mid level direct drive wheel. I have it bolted to a GTplayer frame which dosnt take up too much space. My TV is a hisense 43 inch 4k which is on the corner unit in the back half of the living room and not bolted to the racing frame as its not possible to mount it to my frame. I use the racing frame as my main gaming chair too. If you can afford the T598 and a sturdy stand it's highly recommended from myself.
