Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Thoughts on Potential $80 PS5 Games?

Nem

The stance has not changed and I have seen 80 euro games around already.
My stance is that I will wait for a price cut.
It's just what it is. Thankfully I come across retailers making up the difference, but they are trying to screw them over too.

I simply don't buy them. I simply can't justify it. I have never bought a game over 65 euros and I never will.

Re: Poll: PS5 Fans, Are You Sold on the Nintendo Switch 2?

Nem

I am disappointed. I was looking forward to it until Nintendo went full greedy with it.
Charging for last gen upgrades, huge game price increase and the system itself nearing the limit.
None of the games were for me either.
So... I am thinking about waiting on this one until games that interest me are out.

Re: Animus Hub to Bridge Assassin's Creed Shadows to Modern Day Story

Nem

@Jenny_Jones Then he really should use "I" and not "we". It's all fixed now, I see.

But, what I said does not apply to push square in particular. Many reviewers out there don't bother playing the games to the credits or engaging with their systems before writing so called "reviews".

Re: Fans Unsure Whether Sony Will Block PS5 Games on Xbox's Rumoured PC Hardware

Nem

This is nonsense. I don't believe Microsoft will do this.
Being on steam means they can't charge for online play anymore or have control of the network and the fees gained from sales on it. Their whole Xbox live thing will be gone. It will just be a game renting service.

If that's what they want to do, I don't think they will be competition. Also, games are not optimised for that kind of platform. I guess Microsoft can optimise theirs, but how will you feel playing say MH wilds which looks and performs terrible on a mid range pc, compared to the console versions which are more optimised, even if still with issues?

If microsoft wants to sell a packed in PC, let them? It's not different from a regular PC. Actually, it's worse.

I don't think there is anything to worry about. It's the same as them leaving the console market.
Probably no same day releases on PC though. But, that was already the case.

Re: The Future of the Baldur's Gate Series Will Soon Be Revealed

Nem

I don't envy who gets the "honor". Fans are already hating on it and the game hasn't even started development.
Honestly, they should just give it a wide birth and do nothing. It's what those people deserve. They have been going around trying to kill every other RPG that isn't a CRPG. I am starting to think BG3 was the worst thing to happen to the genre just due to the entitled jerks it created and how toxic they are.
Good on larian for having jumped that ship. There is no winning with those people.

Re: Disc Rot Already Afflicts Your Physical Game Collection

Nem

@Bamila My oldest one is Sonic CD. It's 32 years old. Still fine.
Actually, they are all fine. I only had one rot in hundreds from one i burned myself on the pc and they are all still fine. Honestly the rot came from the golden top surface. I believe that was the issue. It was a bad quality disc.

Re: Disc Rot Already Afflicts Your Physical Game Collection

Nem

Not a single one.

The only one that did was a cheap cd burn i did back in the day. Console games are all perfect.

If you store them in your moldy basement without any protection then i can see it.

But, another thing, don't use this to say digital is better cause hard drive discs are subject to the same thing.

Re: Horizon Dev Promises It Isn't Trying to Replace Aloy Actress with AI

Nem

Well... I have yet to hear an AI that isn't completely bonkers and broken in some way.
Sure, with perfectionioning it might get better. But, I have doubts it will resonate with audiences.
Also, to improve said AI will require lifting up the work of many others and I can see legal issues with that.
In the end what an AI does is gather up lots of examples of what you want done and create an average approximation. Is that really original work or plagiarism en-masse? 🤷‍♂️

Without real artists adding to the data pool will AI keep being able to come up with new pieces of art? It's certainly not a great spot to be in. I can see it getting stale and repetitive fast.
Actually, I already see it in art AI bots. They are all very samey with what they draw. They aren't capable of originality.

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds Player Shows Off Extent of Its Massive Open World

Nem

The game really isn't an open world. Just a bunch of the usual MH maps connected by a corridor to mask the loading time.

If you grabbed MH world and put a corridor between each zone to mask the loading it would be the same.

Just preparing people who read stuff like this and expect a real vast open world game. That's not what this is.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Monster Hunter Wilds?

Nem

I will not give it a final score yet.
I have not even entered high rank yet.

But, i have been enjoying it minus the issues with performance and the low res textures. I think they really hold back the game. I could not in good conscious give it more than a 7 while those remain. When those are gone, it may upgrade to 8 or 9.
