Anime fans already struggling to divide time between Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero may be concerned to learn another new title is out today: Crystal of Atlan.

Now don’t worry too much just yet: this is described as a “magicpunk MMO”, so it’s a little different conceptually to the gachas that have been consuming your life of late.

Free to download on the PS5 from today, the game has a pretty compelling combat system, which is being sold on its similarities to proper character actions games, like Devil May Cry.

But unlike, say, Wuthering Waves, this is more of an online experience, where you tackle dungeons in co-op and join guilds. So, this is more targeting the Final Fantasy 14 fanbase, as opposed to the gacha crowd.

It does look decent, though – the combat especially looks like a welcome improvement on what you usually find in MMO games. We’ll definitely give this a spin at some point this week and check back with our impressions as soon as we can.
