Re: Release Window for Anticipated Superhero Game Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Seemingly Revealed

Nem

@HotGoomba The game is written and likely directed by the legacy of kain and first 3 uncharted writer, Amy Hennig.
It will certainly be good.

My worry is if people will care. This game went radio silent for a long time and still is. The studio is working on a star wars game too. They are a studio built to make story driven games.
I do hope this game does well. But i am worried.

My dream is for the studio to do well and be hired by embracer to make a new legacy of kain.

Re: Poll: So, Is Monster Hunter Wilds 'Too Easy'?

Nem

I think the difficulty is fine. The problem is the inconsistent presentation with high and low res textures mashed together for a completely terrible image and ofc, the performance.
They just need to fix the game on a technical level and then it will be one not to miss.
The difficulty is right where it should be. It is easier for long time players, but it's not for new ones. Also, the new mechanics that make it more approachable and more abusable by the experienced players. The weapons also lost some of the complexity, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But without the extra moves and switch skills from rise sunbreak they do feel a bit simplistic.
Let's hope the expansion brings back some switch skills to spice things up.

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds a Best-Seller in the UK as Series Continues Upwards Trajectory

Nem

@Cutmastavictory Are you kidding? How is using 2 combos the whole game "hard"?
Rise sunbreak is leagues better. There is no comparison. There is so much more customisation with playstyle with switch skills and silkbind moves. The monsters have much cooler moves. The mobility makes it faster paced and fun.

I like Wilds but there is no comparison. If they released this and a rise expansion at the same time, i know what i would be buying. 😅
And it's not cause of difficulty. It's just fun factor. I get way more satisfaction from rise sunbreak combat.
I can agree Wilds is a good entry point cause of it. But, so was rise and there is so much more meat to it.

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds Eclipses All Expectations on Launch Day

Nem

@B0udoir Not during hunting. In town is when it's worse. I noticed the ground after i ended the hunt and when farming for materials.
I don't even mention overall resolution, just the textures. It's the mode that is called that. Though performance mode is clearly blurrier.

No it's not the same. You have cut-scenes with these characters and the camera zooms in on them and it's impossible not to see it. For example, the merchant that sells you items (you will interact with him often) has one texture resolution and he has a sort of half kilt on his waist that is low res. It's impossible not to see the contrast.
Even in cutscenes they put a rug which is a triangular mess with low res texture in front of the screen. It's all over the place and it's definitely very noticeable. It's messy.

You are very mistaken if you think i am nit-picking. This stuff is literally front and center.

Did you think i was zooming in on the book? Literally have to talk to the guy and the camera zooms on him.
Stop assuming we are all trolls around here. This game has issues and you should not wave them off based on what are nit-pickers, which btw i dislike as well. You will never seem me picking on something such as trees on gran turismo unless the game was zooming in on them and that is even not the biggest issue. It's the contrast of high res textures next to low res textures.

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds (PS5) - A Timeless Formula Refined to Near Perfection

Nem

Ok, now that i played it i can dispute this review when it says near perfection and top of class combat.
The game is good, don't get me wrong. But first, the combat is a step back from Rise/Sunbreak and it gets dull pretty fast. The aim feature actually removes the importance of positioning. It's what makes the game "easier" as they say.
The performance and graphics the review addresses a bit but are completely unacceptable. There are tons of low res textures all over the place and many are even streched on the ground. Something like a book on the hands of an NPC looks like a PS2 model... it's alarming. The models in cutscenes look much better than the ones in the game on resolution mode. It's like we are playing on the switch and not PS5. Heck Rise on switch looked more consistent than this does.

This is not an issue solved with hardware either. A PS5Pro will not solve the texture and performance problems. It will just make them slightly less pronounced in the performance and will do nothing for the textures, ofc.

This game is clearly still in a beta state and was rushed to make the fiscal year for capcom. We should really push back against this kind of release.

I do not recommend anyone expect a polished experience to buy it yet. Wait until they fix this stuff and buy on sale or be prepared to deal with them. I expected this to be the case after i played the beta. I did not believe the copium cause i have done this dance enough times to know this stuff doesn't get fixed in 3 months. I was prepared to deal with it. But i am still tempted to just wait for patches before continuing. The gall to print discs with this though...

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds Eclipses All Expectations on Launch Day

Nem

The game looks bad even in fidelity mode on ps5 with lots of warped and low res textures.
Main characters and cut-scenes look fine but it's like playing it with a graphics card 2 gens old.
This is not a hardware issue. It's a rushed game. I hope they work to fix those textures and the performance.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Monster Hunter Wilds?

Nem

The game itself is good, but the performance and graphics are lacking. Lot's of bad textures. Warped and stretched textures and triangles just popping up in places. Ground textures can be appalling too.

This quite frankly is a game in beta still. Capcom does deserve flak for it. They rushed it out for their fiscal numbers and it's not in a good state.

But, if they fix it, it will be great.

Re: Bloober Team Partnering with Konami Once Again Following Silent Hill 2 Success

Nem

@Anthony_Daniels You don't get the definition of a remake even though you just gave it.
Hey, it's not my fault you don't like it. But it exists.

SH2 remake does have changes in all those areas. Even if they are smaller. That is a creative choice. Because that SH1 remake exists is why we got a SH2 remake this time. I am sorry you don't like or don't want to recognise the remake of SH1, but it exists.

Re: PS5 Pro Is By Far the Best Way to Play Monster Hunter Wilds on Console

Nem

Still not getting one.
Good try though.

The problem is not in the hardware, it's in the software and they will be fixing it.
I am not gonna throw 800 euros on a digital only machine to slightly solve the problem for them.
That's the equivalent of flushing money down the toilet.
The 30fps resolution mode was fine for me in the beta. I knew what I was getting into.

I may eventually get a ps6 in a few years and then I will have even better performance without spending all the additional money and having access to a new library of games.

Re: Some Monster Hunter Wilds Fans Are Losing Their Minds Over the Game Being 'Too Easy'

Nem

@Nepp67 OK, well have that talk with them then over what a souls game is cause they are literally saying how they want the monsters to kill them over and over. I don't share that masoquism. I don't enjoy Souls games and I don't want MH to go overboard again like it did in iceborne. I don't play for bragging right like the no-lifers.
I want to be able to clear all TU's like I did in Sunbreak. They were challenging and fair fights. That is what I want, not whatever the hell those scripted Alatreon and Fatalis fights were.

Re: Evidence Mounts for Seemingly Inevitable Persona 4 Remake on PS5

Nem

I have been holding off in rebuying it on new systems cause of the inevitable remake.
Still got my vita version and I feel like it's worth a replay on the big screen, but after a remake.
With that said... I won't be happy if they carve out the golden version to sell as dlc.
I don't care about the answer in p3 cause it doesn't matter and doesn't really change anything, but the golden incorporates Marie from the beginning of the playthrough. It is not something that can just be added later without a completely new playthrough.

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds (PS5) - A Timeless Formula Refined to Near Perfection

Nem

I really hope they continue to work on the graphics and performance. A game with this budget shouldn't be having these issues.
Not sure what best in class combat is supposed to mean. It has it's satisfying formula but it's a step back from rise sunbreak and that needs pointing out.
Capcom does these weird 2 versions of MH where the so called portable titles take risks and expand and advance the series and the mainline such as this that are more conservative and reel things back.
I am not a world iceborne fan. I think that game didn't move the series forward in anything but graphics and actually was a step back with the horrible clutch claw mechanic and throwing away all the combat advancements from generations.
Wilds is what world should've been. It incorporated some of portable games advancements.
I know some people prefer the slower combat. I don't think it's an improvement, but wounds certainly are a better system than the clutch claw and the tenderising nonsense.
This is certainly a step forward from world iceborne but it's a step back from rise sunbreak.
Wilds will be great entertainment but the next entry should be something special that will push the envelope once again and I am excited about what that will be.

Re: Sony Japan Studio Closed Because AA Market 'Disappeared', Says Shu Yoshida

Nem

@Ultimapunch That's the thing. I think creative games as you put it are not the AA market. They are the niche market and perhaps it has disappeared.
Falcom and nippon ichi make traditional, strategy rpg's or action RPG's. They are making things that still sell.
In the case of Sony this could be a wild arms, for example. It could be a wipeout or even a more modestly budgeted legend of dragoon. Ape escape comes to mind as well. It doesn't need to be weird like gravity rush and pupeteer. Those feel more like indie games in approach, which is where the "creative" niche market moved to.

Re: Sony Japan Studio Closed Because AA Market 'Disappeared', Says Shu Yoshida

Nem

That's not the AA market, it's the niche game market.
Plenty of companies in japan still making great AA games like Falcom and nipon ichi.
The thing is, Sony doesn't want small gains to foster consumer trust, they want big blockbusters that may make millions and that is simply short sightedness.
You can have both. Is Nintendo not proof of that as well?

Re: Embracer Groups' Sales Tumble 22%

Nem

I think they will be fine.

They had the gothyc remake slip to 2025 and alone in the dark didn't do well sadly. They expected more from that. But KCD will make up for it.
I wonder when the KOTOR remake will be coming.
I would also like to know how well Soul reaver did. Last we heard it was above expectations. A year or lows and highs for them, but the boat seems to be balancing at the moment.

Re: The Hype for Monster Hunter Wilds Is Real as World Sales Erupt Seven Years After Release

Nem

@JohntheRaptor In NG and DMC you do not get as punished and you have a difficulty level for players that aren't good at action games to complete the story.
Regardless i disagree with that premise. I think Souls likes are worse than action games. I do prefer the faster gameplay and responsiveness of the action games though.

Anyways... it's not like i didn't beat World. But i only played world after Iceborne was out, so we might've played different versions. The clutch claw being an especial pain point. Iceborne was the worst one where i got sick of the whole thing. But world is not great either towards the end. Good for you if you enjoyed it. I loved Rise (minus rampages) and sunbreak. Sunbreak is just chef's kiss.

Anyways i played the beta of wilds some more and got more used to the game and the weapons that work best. I may give it a try. It does look like trash on performance mode, but fidelity mode is ok, oddly enough. I am curious to see where this will land at launch cause the game is very unstable on the beta.

Re: Reaction: The PS5 Discourse Around State of Plays Is Becoming Draining

Nem

Yes, well... i am glad you understood you are feeding a monster for clicks.
But, yes, it's been getting absolutely awful. The amount of vitriol in the internet for anything that is not perfection is exhausting. These kids are becoming impossible to please and life has nothing but disappointment in store for them. I hope they enjoy it. 🤷‍♂️

Btw the State of play had nothing that interested me and i still ranked it average. It doesn't have to appeal to me personally. I am not at a loss for what to play.

Re: Trails through Daybreak 2 (PS5) - Adjust Your Expectations for This Slick But Strange Trails Sequel

Nem

Sounds like the usual for the series.
I have been busy with so much stuff that i am still on ToCS3. I have got a marathon waiting for me.
On the bright side... i won't have to wait between games. 😁
By the time i get around to them i am sure Kai and Sky remake will be out already.
I WILL get to them though. I have this thing where i like to save the best for last, in this case on the PS4.

Re: The Hype for Monster Hunter Wilds Is Real as World Sales Erupt Seven Years After Release

Nem

@Cutmastavictory I can also say you are very wrong. At this time i am not interested in debating people over what is hard and easy.
I play solo. I didn't just play Rise but Sunbreak. I killed primal malzeno and did Qurio quests.

Yes, it helps cause i can get other AI hunters to help me when i'm playing on my own instead of just me alone (though i had to go through all of Rise and some of sunreak solo with my cat/palamute) and having the full focus of the monster, though i still had it most of the time.

I don't care if you consider it "easy", i consider it fun. I am not wrong cause most people play these games in multiplayer which in itself makes them a lot easier than solo. The scaling in world iceborn was such that solo is harder than multiplayer (you have to do more damage per player as solo than with 2, 3 or 4 while having the monsters full focus), which is why many of you that are fans of world iceborne don't get the issue i and many others have with it.

I don't care that it's "easier" in your opinion. Easier is fine with me if i am having fun. I don't have the "souls" masochism gene.
