You’re not getting Bloodborne 2 and we’re committed to live services, here’s an ad for the biggest game on the planet which appears on everything. #4ThePlayers and all that.
@roguepanda88 there are only so many numbers so the codes might sell out. It costs more if they start using Roman numerals or some kind of bartering system.
Walling off content for the single player game is such bullshizzle. I was a maybe on picking this up at launch but it can wait. I know it’ll sell millions but I just couldn’t care less if they’re going to behave like this.
@Frmknst do you have an allergy to fun or something? It’s a cracking little game, loads of content, countless fun ways to play it, costs under a fiver, is well made, has a great soundtrack, and is adding more and more stuff to it. I’ll take that over a gatcha or gta online any day.
(Btw Sammy, Poncle is Luca Galante, he’s Italian).
This is why I check the site daily. You’re honest and you do this because you genuinely love great games and great quality writing. Good to know you’re around lads, lasses and everyone in between.
Add a single player mode and story missions, add some deathmatch content. Keep iterating on both these things while continuing the extraction gameplay.
There you go, that’s how to entice new players. Even if Bungie said “we’re working on these things” I’d be interested. As is this just looks like yet another extraction shooter and a lot of the D2 player base just aren’t interested. If they turn it around then I’m in, otherwise no, it can do one.
@DennisReynolds excellent analogy! I wouldn’t have had a Faye spin off as my first choice for the main entry, but I still have very high hopes for it. Santa Monica don’t exactly have a habit of making poor games.
5 min wolverine trailer, Sony brings back that superhero tv show they had (powers?) for a new series entirely written, filmed, and acted by AI, then a 40 min gameplay reveal for Break In with Herman Hulst playing against Andrew House with special guest shoutcaster Jethro Tull. Then a just one more thing and it’s a new F2P gotcha game where it’s just the sidemen screaming at you to spend more money.
Show it so we can all have a good old laugh. These games are being seen for what they are; publishers and execs asking us for all of the money, and I love watching them fail. The devs deserve better than being put on these things, so the more they fail the happier everyone is.
What a joke. Destiny 2 was so much fun at one point, the only live service game I ever played much. Then came the eververse, then the constant monetisation, the shuttering of older levels, and whatever else. They ran it into the ground and now they’re focusing on a DOA game that has less than 5k players daily on steam.
How can Sony and Bungie have messed this up so badly? Such a huge shame.
Good to hear, nice that they moved the devs to proper games as well. Live service is hopefully dying out and going the way of motion controllers and shovelware. Marathon is under 5k players on steamdb, most other live service games are DOA. Hopefully the message is getting through now.
“Er… lads we’ve spaffed a load of cash on Marathon which died on its arse, and Herman is about to make us release a Horizon game which will be about as popular as a fart in a wetsuit. Should we sack him and make decent games again?
What, remove sales? But that… oh. Ok well if you insist. Yeah ok praise Herman”
Heard good things about the atmosphere and story but not so much on the gameplay front, which this review seems to concur with. Shame but still, hopefully it finds an audience.
@Scottyy you’re correct. I had the original PSVR and it was pretty good, though the screen door effect was annoying. If they ported those games to psVR2 then I’d have been in day one, but nope. Baffling decision as Astro was the best game on it by a country mile.
The two scenes mentioned are exactly the ones which made my jaw drop when I played it. First title that I’ve played where I thought, yeah this could never have been done on a ps4 pro.
This is gonna at least triple the player count for Seasons. Now all three players will be able to play it and think; “wait, this isn’t Spider Man 2! What have I downloaded?”.
We shall see, but as someone who ploughed hundreds of hours into Destiny 2 I’m not touching this yet. Too much potential for failure or generally being ruined by extra mechanics and mtx nonsense. Bungie make some amazing gunplay, but they also make some huge mistakes.
“Ok lads all but one of the survey responses were incredibly negative apart from this one guy, Berman Bulst who thought it was a great idea. Best pull it now.”
@johncalmc a school friend had it on the master system, and on the walk to school me and my other friends would stop at his to play it for a little while before leaving in the morning. His mum had to have a word when it got progressively earlier and she ended up with four of us turning up at 6am to play it 😂
“We need to get beyond the arguments of slop vs sophistication and develop a new equilibrium in terms of our 'theory of the mind' that accounts for humans being equipped with these new cognitive amplifier tools as we relate to each other. This is the product design question we need to debate and answer.”
TALK. LIKE. A. HUMAN.
Maybe if these corporate mannequins start behaving like actual people and not a walking press release they’ll be a little more relatable.
Voted Clair Obscur every possible time. That game proves that a quality single player experience which doesn’t insult the player, at the right price, will succeed. It’s everything right with the industry and deserves all the love.
Voted Black Ops 7 for best multiplayer because seriously MP can do one.
I got fallout 4 for about a fiver with all the DLC included on PC, and that’s before the free mods and Fallout London. Bethesda can do one, console players get the shaft every time. It’s been an eye opener after decades of console gaming to see just how much we get ripped off.
You have to wonder at this point; why bother? With the Xbox it’s presumably going to be proprietary hardware, whereas a PC made from used components will do the same job at a far lower price point, and be upgradable as needed.
It’s like MS looked at the Vita with the memory card debacle and said “ooooh I’ll have a bit of that”.
If they had the exclusives to necessitate keeping within the console space then that would be something, but there’s nothing you can play on Xbox that you can’t easily get on PC.
@Bettyswollocks I thought the same tbh. I’d be in the middle of a firefight and captain soul patch would get stunlocked while diving into distant cover instead of rolling. That and the AI on your team mate attempting to make sweet love to the berserker only to die immediately. I remember quite liking it at the time but it’s not great.
Not sure I’m feeling the sci fi direction, as ND do so well in the “real” world. I’d like to have seen a Last of Us 3, but I get it.
So hyped for Saros though. Housemarque are just one of those studios who never miss. Gameplay over all. Returnal is one of the best games ever so I am so, so, excited for this.
I’d argue that nobody needs Nicki Minaj. She’s not exactly pleasant. I used to dip my toe into CoD now and again but since the Cold War campaign I’ve seen nothing that makes me want to come back. The Beavis and Butthead thing was hugely off putting.
Having a stepdaughter who adores Animal Crossing and LOTR meant that I had hopes this would be good, sadly they seem to have made a mess of it. It’s a shame as the market is definitely there, but hey ho.
I’ve confidence this will be good. My stepson is a huge Zelda fan so he’s really excited to see it, and I’m excited to take him on a lads day out to see it. Would be nice if they could get Hunter Schafer in there as well, she’s got a lot of fans who want her in there. Maybe a Gerudo or something?
Looks great of course, but I found the first game so boring that I can’t bring myself to care about this. That’s not a reflection on quality or even a diss on the series, they’re exceptionally well done, but it’s just not clicking for me personally.
@IntrepidWombat knocking the difficulty down to story doesn’t affect trophies and makes the dodge mechanic way easier. It’s worth sticking with. I got to about the last couple of hours of the game and was getting trounced until I did that. No shame in it, and there’s always NG+ if you want the challenge afterwards.
Not a hope in hell. It looks like it’s got all the depth of a Kardashian, and it’s going to be yet another nasty little cash grab which dies within weeks.
Ah Dragon Breed is boss! I got a subscription to Antstream (DO NOT DO THIS) and ended up playing it for hours. Just as good as I remember from when I was a kid.
Loved it then, love it now. There are some things I didn’t really care for in there (a few overlong story parts which aren’t much fun to play through again), but the combat was superb and the story was excellent. Performances were likewise great.
I’m a big fan of the series and never played a game I disliked, I even bought a psvr just to play Doom VFR and I loved it. I play through the series about once a year, it’s my sort of comfort food in gaming form. I thought Doom TDA would be at least on par with Eternal.
Nope.
It’s good, don’t get me wrong, but some bad design decisions and the horrible muddy look aren’t what I was after. I’m enjoying going through again and getting the platinum, but why does it boot me back to the title when I finish a level? Why is there no NG+ in a single player game? Why is there no new modes to try after the campaign is done? Why did they need to put a B&M He Man story with loads of cutscenes in? Why should I care about the bland woman who is there for reasons when the king was the only other cool looking character in the game? Why were the mech levels basically a watered down version of Punch Out? Couldn’t they do anything with the dragon parts apart from what amounts to a half arsed rhythm game which lasts seconds at a time? Why is the default speed so slow? What’s the point of the chain shot?
I have so many questions. It’s not a bad game at all but seventy quid for this?
