Re: Hands On: Marathon's New Season Is Impressive, But Probably Not Enough

Johnnycide

Add a single player mode and story missions, add some deathmatch content. Keep iterating on both these things while continuing the extraction gameplay.

There you go, that’s how to entice new players. Even if Bungie said “we’re working on these things” I’d be interested. As is this just looks like yet another extraction shooter and a lot of the D2 player base just aren’t interested. If they turn it around then I’m in, otherwise no, it can do one.

5 min wolverine trailer, Sony brings back that superhero tv show they had (powers?) for a new series entirely written, filmed, and acted by AI, then a 40 min gameplay reveal for Break In with Herman Hulst playing against Andrew House with special guest shoutcaster Jethro Tull. Then a just one more thing and it’s a new F2P gotcha game where it’s just the sidemen screaming at you to spend more money.

Re: Bungie Is Not Making Destiny 3, Dev to Be Rocked by 'Significant' Layoffs

Johnnycide

What a joke. Destiny 2 was so much fun at one point, the only live service game I ever played much. Then came the eververse, then the constant monetisation, the shuttering of older levels, and whatever else. They ran it into the ground and now they’re focusing on a DOA game that has less than 5k players daily on steam.

How can Sony and Bungie have messed this up so badly? Such a huge shame.

Re: Microsoft CEO Really Wants You to Stop Calling Generative AI 'Slop'

“We need to get beyond the arguments of slop vs sophistication and develop a new equilibrium in terms of our 'theory of the mind' that accounts for humans being equipped with these new cognitive amplifier tools as we relate to each other. This is the product design question we need to debate and answer.”

TALK. LIKE. A. HUMAN.

Maybe if these corporate mannequins start behaving like actual people and not a walking press release they’ll be a little more relatable.

Voted Clair Obscur every possible time. That game proves that a quality single player experience which doesn’t insult the player, at the right price, will succeed. It’s everything right with the industry and deserves all the love.

Voted Black Ops 7 for best multiplayer because seriously MP can do one.

Re: PS6 Could Be Less Than Half the Price of Microsoft's 'Very Premium' Next-Gen Xbox

Johnnycide

You have to wonder at this point; why bother? With the Xbox it’s presumably going to be proprietary hardware, whereas a PC made from used components will do the same job at a far lower price point, and be upgradable as needed.

It’s like MS looked at the Vita with the memory card debacle and said “ooooh I’ll have a bit of that”.

If they had the exclusives to necessitate keeping within the console space then that would be something, but there’s nothing you can play on Xbox that you can’t easily get on PC.

Re: Sony's Zelda Movie Confirms Its Link and Zelda Actors

I’ve confidence this will be good. My stepson is a huge Zelda fan so he’s really excited to see it, and I’m excited to take him on a lads day out to see it. Would be nice if they could get Hunter Schafer in there as well, she’s got a lot of fans who want her in there. Maybe a Gerudo or something?

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on Ghost of Yotei?

Johnnycide

Looks great of course, but I found the first game so boring that I can’t bring myself to care about this. That’s not a reflection on quality or even a diss on the series, they’re exceptionally well done, but it’s just not clicking for me personally.

Re: Feature: Top 20 PS5 Games of 2025 So Far

Johnnycide

@IntrepidWombat knocking the difficulty down to story doesn’t affect trophies and makes the dodge mechanic way easier. It’s worth sticking with. I got to about the last couple of hours of the game and was getting trounced until I did that. No shame in it, and there’s always NG+ if you want the challenge afterwards.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give DOOM: The Dark Ages?

Johnnycide

I’m a big fan of the series and never played a game I disliked, I even bought a psvr just to play Doom VFR and I loved it. I play through the series about once a year, it’s my sort of comfort food in gaming form. I thought Doom TDA would be at least on par with Eternal.

Nope.

It’s good, don’t get me wrong, but some bad design decisions and the horrible muddy look aren’t what I was after. I’m enjoying going through again and getting the platinum, but why does it boot me back to the title when I finish a level?
Why is there no NG+ in a single player game? Why is there no new modes to try after the campaign is done?
Why did they need to put a B&M He Man story with loads of cutscenes in? Why should I care about the bland woman who is there for reasons when the king was the only other cool looking character in the game? Why were the mech levels basically a watered down version of Punch Out? Couldn’t they do anything with the dragon parts apart from what amounts to a half arsed rhythm game which lasts seconds at a time? Why is the default speed so slow? What’s the point of the chain shot?

I have so many questions. It’s not a bad game at all but seventy quid for this?
