@johncalmc a school friend had it on the master system, and on the walk to school me and my other friends would stop at his to play it for a little while before leaving in the morning.
His mum had to have a word when it got progressively earlier and she ended up with four of us turning up at 6am to play it 😂

Voted Clair Obscur every possible time. That game proves that a quality single player experience which doesn’t insult the player, at the right price, will succeed. It’s everything right with the industry and deserves all the love.

Voted Black Ops 7 for best multiplayer because seriously MP can do one.

I got fallout 4 for about a fiver with all the DLC included on PC, and that’s before the free mods and Fallout London. Bethesda can do one, console players get the shaft every time. It’s been an eye opener after decades of console gaming to see just how much we get ripped off.

@Oram77 and that’s ok. People are more than welcome to spend money on convenience, and it’s not some cardinal sin to do so.

You have to wonder at this point; why bother? With the Xbox it’s presumably going to be proprietary hardware, whereas a PC made from used components will do the same job at a far lower price point, and be upgradable as needed.

It’s like MS looked at the Vita with the memory card debacle and said “ooooh I’ll have a bit of that”.

If they had the exclusives to necessitate keeping within the console space then that would be something, but there’s nothing you can play on Xbox that you can’t easily get on PC.

@Bettyswollocks I thought the same tbh. I’d be in the middle of a firefight and captain soul patch would get stunlocked while diving into distant cover instead of rolling. That and the AI on your team mate attempting to make sweet love to the berserker only to die immediately.
I remember quite liking it at the time but it’s not great.

As an aside, I bought Gears of War and went into the MP a few days ago, it’s already dead. Shows how well that took off.

Not sure I’m feeling the sci fi direction, as ND do so well in the “real” world. I’d like to have seen a Last of Us 3, but I get it.

So hyped for Saros though. Housemarque are just one of those studios who never miss. Gameplay over all. Returnal is one of the best games ever so I am so, so, excited for this.

I’d argue that nobody needs Nicki Minaj. She’s not exactly pleasant.
I used to dip my toe into CoD now and again but since the Cold War campaign I’ve seen nothing that makes me want to come back. The Beavis and Butthead thing was hugely off putting.

Having a stepdaughter who adores Animal Crossing and LOTR meant that I had hopes this would be good, sadly they seem to have made a mess of it. It’s a shame as the market is definitely there, but hey ho.

This series sorely needs a new entry which doesn’t suck, so I’m all in on this.

I’ve confidence this will be good. My stepson is a huge Zelda fan so he’s really excited to see it, and I’m excited to take him on a lads day out to see it. Would be nice if they could get Hunter Schafer in there as well, she’s got a lot of fans who want her in there. Maybe a Gerudo or something?

Looks great of course, but I found the first game so boring that I can’t bring myself to care about this. That’s not a reflection on quality or even a diss on the series, they’re exceptionally well done, but it’s just not clicking for me personally.

I’m playing the directors cut of the first game at the moment so I’ll pick it up once I’m done with that. I’m sure at worst it’ll be a sleeper hit

Never played Diablo 4 so that’s worth the price of the month alone. Nice!

@IntrepidWombat knocking the difficulty down to story doesn’t affect trophies and makes the dodge mechanic way easier. It’s worth sticking with. I got to about the last couple of hours of the game and was getting trounced until I did that. No shame in it, and there’s always NG+ if you want the challenge afterwards.

Not a hope in hell. It looks like it’s got all the depth of a Kardashian, and it’s going to be yet another nasty little cash grab which dies within weeks.

Ah Dragon Breed is boss! I got a subscription to Antstream (DO NOT DO THIS) and ended up playing it for hours. Just as good as I remember from when I was a kid.

Loved it then, love it now. There are some things I didn’t really care for in there (a few overlong story parts which aren’t much fun to play through again), but the combat was superb and the story was excellent. Performances were likewise great.

Seems the public just love the taste of boot. If we keep buying these games then it only gives them more reason to turn out more and more copies.

I’m a big fan of the series and never played a game I disliked, I even bought a psvr just to play Doom VFR and I loved it. I play through the series about once a year, it’s my sort of comfort food in gaming form. I thought Doom TDA would be at least on par with Eternal.

Nope.

It’s good, don’t get me wrong, but some bad design decisions and the horrible muddy look aren’t what I was after. I’m enjoying going through again and getting the platinum, but why does it boot me back to the title when I finish a level?
Why is there no NG+ in a single player game? Why is there no new modes to try after the campaign is done?
Why did they need to put a B&M He Man story with loads of cutscenes in? Why should I care about the bland woman who is there for reasons when the king was the only other cool looking character in the game? Why were the mech levels basically a watered down version of Punch Out? Couldn’t they do anything with the dragon parts apart from what amounts to a half arsed rhythm game which lasts seconds at a time? Why is the default speed so slow? What’s the point of the chain shot?

I have so many questions. It’s not a bad game at all but seventy quid for this?

I bought it 🤷‍♂️. I am currently trying to get the platinum on it as it’s not a bad game, a little disappointing after the previous two though. The story is utter garbage, and the dragon sections are just pointless. Still, the action is fun once you crank the speed up, and it was a decent enough 15 hour campaign.

If it goes below 20 quid in a sale then it’s an easy recommend, but I did get ripped off.

Finished doom today so had a look at what’s on sale, good lord it’s vile on there. Just rows and rows of garbage. It’s borderline impossible to find any little indie gems now due to it.

@Mintie play the dark ages first. It’s very good but Eternal is something else, it perfects fps shooting to an embarrassing degree.

It’s fine. It’s ok. It just feels like a huge step backwards after Eternal, which I believe is the greatest FPS of all time. The plot is too prominent and they’re putting vehicle and mech sections in that don’t really work. That and the muted colour scheme isn’t really doing it for me after the look of the last two games.

@throwmeaname definitely worth the money. I’m gobsmacked at how good it is.

I bought it due to word of mouth and I’m loving it so far. Pure class in every way. I love how they released a superb game from out of nowhere, don’t overcharge, don’t shoehorn in mtx or online bloat, don’t lecture the player, don’t need to score culture war points and just let the exceptional art and writing speak for itself.

Biggest surprise in a long time, and I’m very happy about it.

Decent month tbh. Ark isn’t for me, but Boltgun is good (I’ve got it on Switch) and I loved balatro so much I bought it on both consoles. It’s such a good game, don’t overlook it as it’s one of the most iconic games since Tetris.

@Almost_Ghostly yeah….. no. What I’m saying is that you’re getting a bit too annoyed over a difference of opinion. It’s ok, you’re allowed to be excited about the biker man and his zombie friends.

Can’t wait to not play this on PS5 either. Played maybe two hours on PS4 and this has to be the blandest game I’ve ever played.

I bought a switch a couple of years ago and played all the games I wanted to on it. It’s ok but I’m not itching to upgrade. I was initially floored by Duskbloods til it turned out to be a multiplayer game, and the only other thing I’m really into is Metroid Prime 4 but I can wait. That c button demonstration was painful to watch too. Good god.

I’d like them to bring back the infamous games, only shift it to a new engine with smaller load times, and give Cole some nicely animated hair. They were really good games but marred by the limits of the system and in game barbers.

I mean I just used to turn off all the hip hop anyway so it’s not a big deal. 100 Gecs are good though. Like them.

@Boxmonkey I have a leaked email from ND which tells us that she’s a Jehovah’s Witness and that the gameplay loop is mainly knocking on people’s doors and being nice, so you’re out of luck there.

@Atreus97 it just suggests laziness on the part of the devs. Like they’ll animate things perfectly and then chicken out of the hair physics. Renders most games unplayable for me. You know they animated every hair on Donkey for Shrek? I have to applaud that. This is why I still send Dreamworks Christmas cards every year, those guys know the score.

Well that’s a terrible month seeing as I bought Robocop a while back. It’s pretty good but the other two? Yikes, they weren’t supposed to actually go THROUGH the barrel!

@TheArt mate, Baldurs gate is worth it at full price for the amount of depth and quality writing.
