Legendary Japanese developer Irem’s collection of classics are slowly making their way onto contemporary consoles, and that will continue with the Irem Collection Volume 3 from 1st July.
This package bundles together the multi-language ROMs of three titles: Mr. Heli, Mystic Riders, and Dragon Breed.
For those not familiar with these titles, Mr. Heli first launched in 1987 and sees you pilot a helicopter with legs through vibrant puzzle-like stages.
Meanwhile, Mystic Riders has a pinch of Cotton to it, as you ride broomsticks through whimsical worlds in side-scrolling shoot-‘em-up scenarios.

The one we’re most interested in, though, is 1989’s Dragon Breed. This puts you on the back of a giant dragon named Bahamoot, in epic skirmishes which are best described as “R-Type with wings”.
“This fabulous coin-op was overlooked by many players when it was released, but now you have the chance to see for yourself why so many arcade aficionados consider this to be one of Irem’s best-kept secrets,” the press release reads.
All of the games above will include various quality of life improvements, including optional controller options, quick save, rewind, and screen filters. Mystic Riders will also support local co-op out of the box.

I remember on my PS2 capcom etc would release 20 or more ROMS on a single game. These releases now are absolutely a joke.
I wish they release it similar to Capcom Arcade Stadium where you have the options to buy each game for like 1-2 bucks. I want to get Air Duel and Gun Force 1 & 2 but 20+ bucks for just 3 old arcade games?
Ah Dragon Breed is boss! I got a subscription to Antstream (DO NOT DO THIS) and ended up playing it for hours. Just as good as I remember from when I was a kid.
Super excited for Mr. Heli !
