Were they considered permanent? Or were they considered as being on the service indefinitely? Big difference. Assuming the former was a silly idea for anybody that did think that.
I think there should be a third tab at the top after Media, called “Subscriptions” and that can house things like PlayStation Plus, PlayStation Now/Spartacus, EA Play, etc.
Has anybody who previously downloaded Vampyr on PS Now been able to add it to their PS Plus library? I go onto the store page for it and it only presents me with the option to download, not add it to my PS Plus library. I downloaded it and checked how long it has until it expires (for me it should be 380 days for PS Plus games at the moment) and it's definitely not the PS Plus version. I thought this was fixed last month?
For those of you that are going to be getting a PS5 in a couple of months, it's worth remembering that multiple games in this sale, including Resident Evil VII, Final Fantasy XV and Persona 5, are going to be given to you for free with your PlayStation Plus subscription when PS5 launches.
@Powerpellet Discs are fine. This is such a common misconception surrounding why backwards compatibility doesn’t work. It’s nothing to do with disc v digital. In fact if you put a PS3 game in your PS4 it knows it’s a PS3 game and will tell you. The problem is the game itself.
I'm going to outright buy MediEvil (it's only £20 and I have a thing about supporting smaller, more unique titles - you know, vote with your wallet), and I'll be renting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and The Outer Worlds.
I've spent maybe 25 hours on it so far and I'm loving it. There are a few annoying things, don't get me wrong - the blue question marks are there for like a second, those f***ing wolves sneak up on me when I'm trying to clear out a camp silently - but the reviews are way too far out. It's no less than a 7/10. GameSpot gave it a 5/10 and that's just taking the piss.
Any word on actual sales numbers? Sony boasted about Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Spider-Man, etc. but I've heard nothing of Days Gone so far.
I'm like a lot of the people posting here. My base PS4 has been resigned to my bedroom, hooked up to my 1080p PC monitor, while my PS4 Pro sits in the living room under my 4K TV.
It just doesn't have the incentive for me to sign up. With XGP you get their exclusives straight away, but they're usually meh. If I could play TLOU2 day and date then... yeah, alright.
I agree. And as Xbox has proven from their last few E3s, they run the risk of over-hyping and under-delivering. I'd rather that they simply said it will be a good show with new announcements and left it at that. Due to the time zone differences I'm not 100% sure I'll tune in live but it'll be the first thing I watch in the morning if not.
@jdv95 Microsoft can't touch Santa Monica Studio, Naughty Dog or Guerrilla Games because Sony already outright own them. Third-party studios that are very friendly with PlayStation are also unlikely, such as Supermassive Games, Insomniac Games and Quantic Dream. I think it's going to be a studio like Ninja Theory - a studio that was once very friendly with Sony but ended up getting ditched due to low sales or poor/average critical reception. My money is going on Ready at Dawn, creators of The Order: 1886.
It's weird that Sony haven't given us updated numbers for it. Like Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War, which sold 2.7m in a week, 2.6m in two weeks, and 3.1m in 3 days respectively, we learned that Spider-Man sold 3.3m in 3 days, but these other games all got updated numbers. We know that God of War sold more than 5 million within a month, but we've no idea where Spider-Man is at. An educated guess could put it at around 6 - 6.5m at this point.
@get2sammyb I watched Colin Moriarty bring up a good point on one of his videos. He said that he believes the old PlayStation 4 will eventually be phased out, making the PlayStation 4K the only system on the market. However, the old system will still be supported with games, it just won't be sold at retail anymore.
I wonder if this is likely? It sounds like a good idea once the PS4K is priced low enough.
I imagine the PS4's web browser will be the best bet of VR porn on PlayStation 4. I highly doubt Sony will do something like offer it via PlayStation Video or have a dedicated app available.
@john_c Bloodborne was made by the creator of Dark Souls, Hidetaka Miyazaki, but he didn't create Dark Souls II. Luckily for you, however, Dark Souls III has Miyazaki back at the helm and is said to have a taken a fair bit of gameplay styles from Bloodborne, creating a nice mix of Bloodborne and Dark Souls.
I've recently finished Just Cause 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops III and Killzone: Shadow Fall. Right now I'm tackling LittleBigPlanet 3. Also, when do you consider a game to be 'done'? For me, it's when I've completed the story. I don't look at the pure multiplayer side of things (such as Team Deathmatch) because that can never be finished. For games that are MMOs such Destiny The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, it can be a grey area.
@get2sammyb They have quite a few. 'Only on Xbox' for when it's also on Xbox 360. 'Only on Xbox One' for when it's only on Xbox One. 'Only on Xbox & PC' for when it's also on Xbox 360 and PC. 'Only on Xbox One & PC' for when it's also available on PC. 'Only on Xbox One and Windows' for when it's also available on PC but only via the Windows Store.
I also noticed that my copy of Halo 5: Guardians doesn't say 'Only on Xbox One', but rather 'Xbox One Exclusive'.
Personally, I really like it. I've actually been trying to find exact picture with the new logo for a while. Some of my Xbox One games say 'Only on Xbox One & PC' so I thought Sony would do something similar eventually. I think it's wise of them to say 'PS4 Console Exclusive Game' rather than 'Also on PC'.
I agree with what you've said in the article. Releasing in a year's time will just create the same problems. Rise of the Tomb Raider thought it would do well against Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Fallout 4 and Star Wars Battlefront. It didn't, so there's no way it's going to do well against the likes of the next Call of Duty, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Horizon: Zero Dawn, The Last Guardian and maybe Battlefield 5 next holiday season. They need to find a dry spell, perhaps summer, and stick it in there. Quite often with these business deals there is a clause that states that they can back out if X amount of copies aren't sold within a certain time frame. Something I've found funny is that Square Enix and Microsoft are both saying they're happy with Rise of the Tomb Raider's sales. This an obvious lie. Remember how Square said that they were disappointed with the reboot's sales, when they were at like 3 million? Rise of the Tomb Raider has sold, what, 600K? Rise of the Tomb Raider has been a commercial failure due to the deal with Microsoft. It's a shame, because, as you've said, the game is solid.
Sony need to start supporting the PlayStation Now UK library. I'm actually a fan of the idea of PlayStation Now, a rare breed of PlayStation gamer. Every month we see the US catalogue grow and grow. The recently got 105+ new games added to the subscription model...in the US. The recently got BioShock 1 & 2, Borderlands 1 & 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum & Origins...in the US. PlayStation Now is only available as a full release in the US and UK, and the latter doesn't receive any monthly updates. The US also has an official Twitch app for PS4, Sony Rewards program and a completely redesigned PlayStation Store, among other things. PlayStation treats all non-US customers as second class.
My top 3 most anticipated games of 2016 genuinely are Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Horizon: Zero Dawn and The Last Guardian. Picking one was an absolute nightmare. I ended up choosing Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.
Very likely they already have a small team working on it. They're probably working on the story and some character and environment models. I expect they'll make a new IP for the PlayStation 5, and then make The Last of Us 3.
I'm expecting the reveal of Sony Bend's game, Crash Bandicoot, and a small teaser for God of War, which will have its full reveal at E3. I expect we'll finally get a price and release date of PlayStation VR, seeing as there's not another conference between PlayStation Experience and E3 2016, and they said that they're launching in the first half of 2016.
@get2sammyb That's a very valid point. It's exciting to see this much enthusiasm for the PlayStation 4. I believe these high sales numbers are what's resulting in great games such as The Last Guardian, Shenmue III and the Final Fantasy VII Remake.
I'm glad it's getting a physical release in the UK. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. inFAMOUS: First Light also got a physical release over here but not in America. I wonder why, though.
@get2sammyb £9.99 was my sweet spot. I was honestly expecting it be around £15.99 per month, so it's nice to see it's not that high. I've been very optimistic for PlayStation Now from the outset. I honestly wouldn't have a problem with £12.99 a month once PS1/PS2/PSP/PS4 games begin making their way to the service. I think they need to stop adding games to the library if they're not going to be a part of the subscription plan. People will just get annoyed when they find out that some games they wanted to play aren't covered by the fee.
@kyleforrester87 Admittedly yeah, that's a bit weird. Tokyo Games Show is gonna focus on Japanese games. Paris Games Week is essentially their relocated Gamescom conference. We literally have a PlayStation press conference every month from next month until the end of the year
Japan's PlayStation 4 sales will go nuts when the likes of Final Fantasy XV, The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Dragon Quest XI and Shenmue III all launch on PlayStation 4 in 2016-2017. Persona 5 may also help a little bit, but it's also getting a PlayStation 3 version.
I got so excited when I saw this. I thought it was a genuine UI redesign. This UI looks utterly gorgeous. I would love it if this, or something similar, was released officially in an update for the PlayStation 4. Why don't they get graphic designers to make loads of different UIs, then take the best bits from the best ones and put it all together. The current UI is nice, but it's not really outstanding. I personally don't like it all that much.

@Arugula It doesn’t cost anything to implement this type of backwards compatibility. It’s not like PS2 being in the PS3.
Re: Resident Evil 3 Remake Skips The Game Awards, Fuelling State of Play Rumours
@OMG_Waffles Essentially it was Sony themselves that leaked it. The cover art was uploaded directly to their servers for the PlayStation Store.

Re: New Death Stranding Trailer Will Arrive Later This Week, Kojima Productions Confirms
@BearsEatBeets Considering how it wasn't vital for us to have our last State of Play when we did, they could have waited for this trailer.
I'm not expecting a definitive date but more of an "Early 2020" at the end of the trailer.
