Instant purchase for me. The game is already feature complete and they have consistently updated it since launch. Always willing to support great games and Devs when they deserve it.
@11001100110zero My guy, there is a full-on war going on out here in the dark underworld of the gaming sphere. A war between good and evil that will shape the future of the medium. You've probably strayed too far as this is very serious stuff that normal, well-adjusted citizens with actual lives just can't handle 😅
In short, western game develop has been infiltrated by the same ideology that has made pretty much everything in media worse over the past decade, whereas eastern game development hasn't.
Let's just say Eve's character design and choice of outfits offend a cultural minority whose privilege has landed them in positions of influence... although those people are now losing their jobs because the audience are voting with their wallet. (We are winning, and Eve's glorious, jiggling bazzongas are a symbol of that glory).
There's something to be said for targeting the majority hetero male audience. But, ultimately, if the game wasn't good, it wouldn't be the success it is.
If the West wants to continue virtue-signalling to a non-existent audience, they can continue to go out of business while the East cleans up.
LLMs are a tool like anything else, but I do think Devs and publishers should be open about if, and how, they've implemented it, for transparency. If games are good, people won't care. Ubisoft has been pumping out slop for a while anyway so I doubt generative AI moves the needle for them.
They have stated they aren't marketing this as a console, but as a PC. It is equal to or better than 70% of steam users' PC's and that's the market they are chasing while hoping to tempt anybody flirting with getting a PC. They will be confident in Devs optimising for it like they have done with the comparitively weak Steam Deck for years to come, while offering the opportunity to manually upgrade it if you wish. This will be $899/£899 at the cheapest, but compare that with pre-built PC's and many will see the value.
BGS games have aged like milk, and most people have cottoned on to this after Starfield. I was already there after the disappointment of Fallout 4. Elder Scrolls 6 likely dictates the future of the studio now that Microsoft owns them, and if they release the same decades-old game design and tech, the game will fail and heads will roll.
An early October release is ideal. Plenty of breathing room until GTA6 literally brings the globe to a halt. Praying Rockstar and PlayStation can get 60fps, or at least 40fps/120hz for the PS5 Pro. Massive incentive for Sony to nail that as they'll sell ALL the consoles.
It's one of the few instances where I hope they take creative license with Aloy and give her a personality. Also, not sure there's much appetite for this but I can see a world where the trailer evokes a similar response to that of the first Transformers film, maybe.
I'm all for an actual remake rather than a remaster. Makes sense given they are coming to a new platform and I'm sure they'll follow Capcom's lead in remaking at least the first 3 games. Single-player FPS are sorely lacking this generation.
That marketing budget would likely have contributed to the inflated price Microsoft paid for Activision, too. Sony really does hold all the cards ATM, especially if the next Xbox is going to be a niche hardcore Xbox fan console. They keep saying the next console generation will be the last, but until consoles do die out, Sony will absolutely clean up ALL the money.
You'll hear a lot of talk about people should just abandon the PS6 for PC, but they forever ignore the obvious: not everyone can afford a gaming PC, nor do some people want a PC, which means the PS6 MUST be affordable, deliver value that a PC can't, and remain easy to use. Until streaming is perfect, there will always be a market for a console that can deliver your CoD's, GTA's etc. And most interestingly, MS will be relying on PS6 being very successful, as will all publishers.
Has there been a more influential game than Dark Souls 1? And, yes, I'm aware of Demon's Souls.
With regards to soulslikes, they must be very good for me to play. Lies of P is a banger, and though I enjoyed the demo to The First Berserker I didn't think it was anything innovative or worth sinking dozens of hours into. I'll give this demo a shot and hopefully it adds its own flavour to the genre.
It's just not possible to better the Norse saga games in another medium, especially TV. After the awful TLoU adaptation, I'd prefer they take the characters and world in an alternative direction rather than strictly following the source material. So long as they can emulate the feel of Kratos and the epic scale and brutality of that universe, it could be well worth it. Casting is crucial.
I was pleasantly surprised by the majority of good-natured humour in the comments, but not surprised at all by the minority of humourless, virtue-signalling bores.
I'm sorry but in 2025, the gameplay is awful. Fairplay to all enjoying it (nostalgia is OP) but I'm just further convinced BGS have been getting away with mediocrity for decades.
Had a look at it on GamePass but not for me. ES6 must play like a modern AAA game or I'm out. BGS have been getting away with mediocrity for decades at this point.
They couldn't help themselves with the cringe messaging which ruins immersion, the humour felt forced at times, and the episode meandered at times, but Dina was a standout. Ultimately, it is faithful to the game for better or worse albeit using wiser structure changes, and I'm interested to see how they deal with Joel. After that, just not sure...
There is an opportunity here for someone to fund this game and turn a profit, but it requires a realistic budget and sales expectations. I love these games but it's clearly not a huge seller, akin to Dishonored and Prey. Hopefully somebody bites because I'll be there day one if it's as good as the previous games.
There absolutely is a way to make it work, but like pretty much any film, execution in all areas must be near perfect: casting, writing, directing, marketing.
I think it needs to have an amazing trailer that awes the general movie-going public rather than relying on fans of the games. The aim must be to emulate that palpable public reaction to the first Transformers (2007) trailer all those years ago.
And revamp Aloy's character from the boring, invulnerable plank she is in the games. In fact, character work must be bettered across the board. It is an IP that would benefit from some changes.
Only tease the lore, less is more, show how dangerous this world is while making it feel like an exciting place you would want to exist in, and DON'T use this as a canvas to lecture the great unwashed.
I don't expect it to sell that well. BGS peaked with Skyrim and have been exposed ever since. I hope I'm wrong but I'm not expecting a return to form with ES6.
A lack of must-play exclusives is why Xbox struggled. The fact Sony delivered them while pushing graphics shows how lacking Xbox have been with software.
Eastern Devs are cooking right now. Japan has been on fire for time but now the influx of Korean and Chinese talent is great. Western gaming is in a lull right now but competition like this will bring it back someday. And Gwendolyn's design is fantastic.
We will look back on this generation as a disappointment, but also the one which had to exist in order for the industry to finally find out that mediocrity, arrogance, and sheer nonsense wont be rewarded. And mark my words: there are still some catastrophic failures coming down the pipeline...
The only way PlayStation comes back from this disaster is a BluePoint Bloodborne remake and Days Gone 2. The mismanagement of this generation is what will be remembered most. Maddening. Heads must roll.
The fact that the slander campaign committed by establishment journos coincided with Game Science not bending the knee to grifter weirdos says everything. Disgraceful. But the more they try, the more they expose themselves to the masses. Their days are numbered.
I just hope whatever campaign they make doesn't involve arrogant, authoritarian leaders provoking a dictator--who happens to lead a Nuclear superpower--via a proxy war directed by psycopaths that ends up with WW3 and the countless deaths of regular people whose tax money was appropriated for this mess in the first place.
Because, you know, I play games to escape from reality.
Never played a Silent Hill game before but I am absolutely loving this so far. Potential GOTY for me if the rest of the game holds up like the first 2 hours.
