Xbox Looker Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 Runs at a Slick 60fps on PS5

I will absolutely be buying this absolutely loved this game

Tried it on Gamepass and it might be the worst game I've played this generation, it was certainly the worst I played last year

Beautiful as a pristine lake, but shallow as a puddle - the game

Nice to hear there’s a free upgrade for the original game. I think I bought that at $30 when it came out, so the next game is 67% more? From the reviews, I can’t see it being worth that much. I’ll play the original again and wait for a deep sale.

its a good walking simulator and a very good looking game. its not as good as the original

I would wait for a sale and get it at around the £15 mark

@get2sammyb it just felt like i wasn't doing anything a lot of the time, with the environments feeling really empty. I don't even mind a walking simulator, as I played Still Wakes The Deep straight after and loved it.

Ironically I felt Hellblade 2 was at its weakest when trying to be a game, the combat feels really scripted to me and the "puzzles" were largely stand in the right place to match up the lights

I might be in the minority here but I enjoyed it and the 1st one was amazing I understand why people dont like it though it's a bit expensive 50 is though for it it's only a very short game

Might pick this up when it drops to 10-15, but right now it's way over priced.

Glad to see the original is getting remastered, hopefully bringing the Series X optimizations over our way. 60fps for the second one is also nice. I don't hate walking simulators and really enjoy this series' world.

I'm curious to see how well this game does. It's a cheaper price so that might help it at least a little.

Sacrifice was a very good game, different, but still an experience, especially as I've struggled with similar issues myself. Although I'd kinda given up hope of the sequel coming to PlayStation, so I'm well up for this! I'm gonna assume no physical though, so I won't be rushing to get it.

@Reeneman the Series X is getting the same 60fps patch as well. It’s called small dev team and they didn’t take the time to optimize for 60fps at launch. Now they had the time to optimize the game for PS5 and Series X. No need to console war when both consoles can run the same games near identical.

Xbox will be getting these Enhancements too so I may well see if the 60fps 'Performance' mode sacrifices too much visual clarity for what may well be negligible benefits from the increased frame rate.

The game, well 'experience' as its not really much of 'Game', is a lot of wandering around at relatively 'slow' pace whilst 'listening' to the dialogue, whether from supporting characters or the voices in Senuas head. It's not a high paced action game that requires perfect timing etc, it would be more accurate to call this an interactive experience designed to convey what living with Psychosis, what living with voices (that dynamically change between Negativity and Positivity) is like as different challenges/obstacles (like Combat or Puzzles) get in the way. The focus is very much on the Audio with the Visual quality a close second to get that 'experience' across and why its recommended you play on a Headset. If you don't, then the major point of this is significantly reduced. Game-play has arguably been 'dumbed' down which I think is so that it doesn't get in the way or prevent gamers from the full 'experience' of living with Psychosis and its impact on Senua. If the puzzles or Combat are too hard/challenging, they prevent progress and frustrate and become the 'focus' to the player, not the voices which is the MAIN point.

If you go into this thinking that Game-play is the 'most' important part, then this will disappoint - the Game-play is 'functional' for interactivity purposes and gives the player some sense of being that 'character' more than just watching a movie would. But if you really enjoyed the Audio of the first and how those voices would 'change' depending on the situation Senua was in at that time, really began to understand how Psychosis impacts those living with it and want more, this is for you...

Ugh not this crap again , absolutely terrible game, I despise it, it gave me stomach ache its that bad , the true definition of a walking simulator , awful just awful.

I can't even call it beautiful when 80% of the screen is black colour.

@Reeneman the series X isn’t overhyped. It’s more powerful than the base PS5, with both series consoles having better CPUs. PS5 games run better as a result of PS5 having a huge base and the console being weaker than the series X. So console developers choose to optimize for PS5, then the series X just brute forces its way to being mostly similar to the PS5 version. Series s is just a matter of reducing graphics which means more work which is what developers are really complaining about. While MS suits have ruined the Xbox brand, engineers did a good job with the series X.

After all it’s so funny that this was one of Microsoft’s main titles over years to hype the capabilities of the series consoles.

Fell off the first gameplay. They do well from a graphic standpoint but if the game is an absolute bore and chore, it doesn’t really mean much. Most reviews have said it got much worse on the gameplay department with most of the 5 hours being cutscenes or just walking straight

@Reeneman it certainly didn’t help with expectations with xbox and their social parrots claiming this was the best thing since sliced bread. They were calling it the last of us for xbox and the studio was their naughty dog

@Vaako007 not really. Both consoles offering nearly the same capabilities, with their own unique strengths and weaknesses.
For the main point is that Ms did such a crazy advertising with these 12 TF and it turned out as such a disappointment. Series is a terrible gen of consoles.
Name one game that is really shining on the series consoles. Even Sony has its issues this gen but it isn’t as far as terrible as with the series consoles.

I'll play the enhanced version of the 1st game and wait for 2 to go under £25 as I've hear it's very short so £50 seems way too dear for me

@RagnarLothbrok exactly this is my point. And it’s just one example of the terrible marketing strategy and their terrible business decisions since the Xbox one.

Almost locked 60fps is a literal must for me, and many others, so its good that they are adding the performance mode - however I think I will be waiting for the guys at DF to do their thing before even thinking about buying this.

50 notes for this, first was good but all ive heard about this is 70%negative 30% good,.not sure if its worth for an "ok" game

@themightyant I will say that these days I'm more picky about what I play and don't have the time for many new games, so my worst of, is probably out of about 20 or so games, but for me it was the weakest out of those

i've played around two hours and it was a snorefest all the time.

But hey when someone speaks on here and uses a console war flame bait name they are the ones spitting truth right? Never mind your profile pic shows you own and play them all. I completely agree that MS could have done a lot better in early optimisation. For me personally though, I'm not too precious about games needing to be 60fps as a minimum. Hellblade 2 certainly isn't the kind of fast paced game that really benefits from it. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have. But it would never stop me from playing/buying a game I wanted to.

Some people get way too swept up crying about numbers that have nothing to do with art style, creativity and fun.

This one is nothing more than good movie bad game if ds is walking simulator this one is yawn simulator well if you have problem sleeping just buy this game dont need to buy meds

60fps is nice, but the real draw is the ability to legitimately own this. Full game on disc without any ‘internet download required’ BS? Sign me up.

@SMJ Yeah the irony of some people that are the biggest fanboy with names that are anti gamer are the ones saying the most about someone else liking a brand. Or in my case liking all 3 brands. School either failed him or he failed himself cause that is next level wasting you life and free time.

I agree to an extent that not everything has to be 60fps or more. But it is nice to have of course like you said. Shooters in 30fps is a no go for me. But most other games it’s fine until the tech comes around to improve it. Take my favorite single player game ever in Red Dead 2, it’s 30 and i have 100’s of hours in it. Do i come on here and beg for 60? Yes haha but at the time it came out there was no way the PS4 and Xbox One was running that higher than 30 now we have consoles that came and of course i want it. So your point is very well made and i agree, but the internet clings to buzzwords and material points and runs wild with it like the latest trend until something new is more popular to complain about.

This is the best looking game of all time right now and for that alone, you need to check it out particularly if you have 4k tv. It blew me away on the first boss battle.

The actual game isn't very gamey so don't expect much from there.
