The hell is Sony doing? Is this some sort of tide recession before a huge tsunami? I hope so because budget 2018 e3 appearance, no e3 in 2019, badly received state of play, server shut downs, censorship, lack of news on updates like ID change, cutting back and giving out poor quality games for PS Plus etc does not cast a positive light on them at all. They will seriously need to come out swinging with PS5 announncement.
I'm happy for Sony and Nintendo to remain as the hardware company to be honest, while Microsoft and Google etc can focus on the cloud. I do get the feeling with PS5 Sony will have something up their sleeve that bring advances to cloud gaming during the announcement however. Sony hasn't exactly been dormant with PS Now, they've been slowly expanding their data centers despite being very quiet.
Hopefully Sony can come up with some nifty technology that will make PS5 gaming somehow portable without sacrificing the horsepower. Seeing the success of Switch, and what Xbox is doing with all the streaming/BC features it's going to be super interesting how Sony intends to respond in the coming generation.
Sony needs to secure more anime game deal imo. They own Funimation, one of the largest anime distribution platform and PlayStation. To gain a competitive advantage, Sony PlayStation should be looking into licensing deals with some of the hottest animes in Japan and make quality games out of them. It would give them a huge competitive edge against Western consoles, and would also allow them to gain some ground on Nintendo on the home market. Bandai Namco is a garbage company
@Constable_What Assuming that it does happen, I don't believe Sony would make Take-Two's IPs exclusive to their consoles, I think this move would be to keep those games away from competing streaming services.
Being a big budget Sony made zombie survival with the whole bikie theme, I think this is going to be one of those games that the internet find pretty average but the actual mainstream sales is going to do quite well. Personally I’m really looking forward to the game.
@Robinsad just keep in mind in order to use the DS4 on IOS device you need to create a new User on your PS under a new PSN ID, and register your device for remote play under said ID. That way the game will run on your main PS User account, while the DS4 will be connected to the newly created PS user account. Otherwise your DS4 won’t work
@Farmboy74 The older phones had poor network hardware built in I think hence the poor performance. I'm also finding the remote play performance to be much better on my iPad Pro 2017
@tomassi Vita was a little dodgy because it had a rather poor network card. Remote play generally works quite well on modern phone/tablet devices as long as you have a strong internet connection.
@InsertUsername I think the biggest reason why they would want to maintain relevant at home is because it is their biggest differentiator to the Xbox. If they lose the market a lot of Japanese developers will no longer support the console and that's not something Sony would want.
Sony is going to lose the whole Japanese market next coming generation if they don't think of ways to entice their home market. I have a feeling PS5 they are going to go to try much harder in order to corner and recapture the Japanese market.
Future PlayStation will need to include built in adjustable short throw laser projector at 8K resolution or foldable screen at 100+ inch, with virtual 360 audio or surround speakers all at the price of under 500 dollars. All Bravia image processing technology will need to be included. The form factor will also need to be sized similar to modern smart phones so it can be used as one, or as a portable console, along with the ability to transform into a VR or AR headset.
@Zombie9ers Microsoft under Nadella with Phil Spencer taking the helm of Xbox seems like almost a complete new company. Personally I think they will try to emulate the management style of Sony in order to compete with it.
Sony have already shown the TLOU2, Days Gone, Ghost, Dreams Stranding, GranBlue Fantasy etc. are still to come for the PS4, mix in with huge 3rd party blockbusters incoming we can still expect plenty of life for the dated console. Sony have done their job with the PS4, it's time to slowly wind down and prepare for the next generation. Sony can afford to skip 2019 E3 since the sales of PS4 are now on cruise control and everybody knows what to expect. Sure Sony can put on a fun little multiplat show like MS did, but there simply isn't much impact. It's not arrogance - it's a move that makes sense.
Bit of a bummer. The game itself is actually really fun but just hampered by the dated Move technology. I don’t think PSVR handles active athletic games where u have to move around a lot quickly like these very well.
@DLB3 That, and I think above all else is the world wide global reach of the PlayStation branding. Square, X, Triangle and Circle are now so iconic, and the marketing of their first party exclusive games have all been nothing short of amazing. Marvel would be wise to team up again with Sony.
Looks fantastic. If this is coming out for PS4 then I might wait for a PS5 version instead I'd be lieing though if I say I'm not a tiny disappointed haha because the media constantly hyped how next gen this game was having seen the behind the door demo. It had me expecting TLOU2 level animations and graphics in a massive open world larger than Witcher 3.
@Boxmonkey I'm not so sure about that. People always keep saying the game is dying but it is still topping the active players on Steam and doing very well. With the inflow of PlayStation players the game is bound to make some headlines again. Due to it's popularity I feel at some point they can make the game F2P as well and following similar finance model to Fortnite, though it'd be trickier due to the realistic art style.
For a bit more I'd probably grab the Scuf Vantage instead if I'm desperate for an expensive controller. Not only does it have paddles and the extra well placed buttons beside the bumper/triggers, but Razer's hardware quality control and customer service is well known to be absolute horrible. I've been burned a few times by their keyboard and mouses.
I feel they should do more to secure the Japanese home market. Japanese games are more important than most people think. Not only are they crucial to the success in Asia, but they are also the main differentiator which can make them stand out against American competition such as the Xbox.
Lol I personally never found the previous search function THAT bad, it was tolerable since the matching results were generally pretty accurate. With that said though this is definitely way better. Hopefully there are some other quality of life improvements as well in this update such as Username change, game gifting etc...
Does anybody know if that applies to Australia too? It would be a shame. Would love to play this game with my little nephews, though I guess I can still import it from Japan but still prefer the warranty from my local retail.
Seems interesting but I have my doubts. Thing is HZD animations are extremely well done and the physics are pretty advanced, much more so than titles like Wolfenstein or Skyrim.
Looks great. Am genuinely interested in this. Think by the time I purchase the PSVR with the release of Dreams Beta it's going to be quite a full on audio experience ride for me with Thumper, Tetris Effect, Beat Sabre, Deemo and now this.
@SoulsBourne128 It's not looking great. Their games lack some sort of identity crisis. I regularly read Manga on this Chinese comic app. Other than the Japanese mangas, there are also a lot of Chinese comics drawn by home grown artists. Technically they are very sound, but unfortunately they don't feel original at all because they are all drawn in Japanese anime style with very cliche cheesy stories. What I'm feeling with the Chinese games is exactly the same.
@get2sammyb Same here, it's been a while and looking forward to its progress. I am hoping Sony forms a team in this Hero Project that can make games based on Ancient Chinese Wuxia.
Congratz to Sony, really well done. Personally am really looking forward to PS5 because I am very interested in Dreams, a game where more power the better. It'd also be incredible if the PS5 will be backward compatible with both PS4 and PS3 titles.
@Th3solution God I hope this never happens to Media Molecule. They are quite a small reputable studio, I hope even if Dreams don't sell as well as expected Sony is willing to keep them afloat. I think all of us who are following this game deep down are very worried about this.
@OGGamer Personally I'm not sure if Iron Fist will be as fun. Though there are graphical updates but the number of enemies seemed lacking compared to the traditional titles. It's sort of like Monster Hunter World, where it lacked content compared to the originals.
@Derpie1 I am also talking about 'in the future'. Dreams, which yet to have a released date, is planned to have a 10 year support plan, and Sony will eventually release PSVR-2 with PS5. The Gyro control isn't going away anywhere anytime soon in the near future.
@Tasuki Yea stay away from Rise of Tomb Raider it was an incredibly boring game not worth the money. Horribly written, pretentious and filled with assumed empathy. Worst of all Lara Croft's personality has been reduced to nil. She's dull, over serious and over dramatic. All she was in game was being a psychopath mass murderer, going around crying and whinging over literal nothing which we are 'suppose' to be able to relate to. The first reboot was ok though, just not Rise.
@Derpie1 It's not going to be trashed. They have a whole first party exclusive that is controlled using Gyro in the form of Dreams by Media Molecule. Then you have PSVR.
This is something Sony should have pushed hard for developers to implement over the years. At the minimum they should have pushed their first party developers to allow for this feature in action aim shooting games like Unchartered or Horizon Zero Dawn. Playing Uncharted Golden Abyss was so much fun on Vita because of the gyro motion aiming. I absolutely love the idea. Unbelievably slack on Sony's part if it takes Switch to popularise the idea.
So from the description does it mean the combat is going to be like Tekken, Absolver or Soul Calibre but in easy auto mode where you just spam one button over and over and it will do all these fancy complicated looking moves?
@Sanquine So Evolution financially flopped with the ambitious DriveClub, Sony released them, they were given another chance to prove themselves outside of Sony's grip, yet they created another flop in the form of Onrush... Seems like a pretty good business decision to me by Sony to let them go and invest funds elsewhere.
