@SillyBoyJudas So I don’t have a PS5, but on my physical PS4 copy it says free PS4 to PS5 upgrade.
On the Bandai Namco page: Upgrade from PS4™ to PS5™ If you have already purchased the PS4™ version of "Dragon Ball Z: KAKAROT", you can upgrade for free. Upgrades are free for both the main game and DLC. Details on the upgrade procedure will be announced on the official website at a later date.
Just note that if you buy the PS4 version now, you will not be playing the PS5 version just yet. You have to wait for the PS5 patch to be released which is this Friday (13th).
@SillyBoyJudas DBZ: Kakarot is a free upgrade from PS4-PS5. Couldn’t you buy the PS4 version for dead cheap and upgrade or am I missing something?
It’s a pretty good game tbh. Ended up getting the platinum. Doesn’t re-invent the wheel, but would be fan servicyyy enough for any fan.
Seriously I’m hoping odyssey is good. I’ve just caught up with the manga & was almost tempted to buy Seeker during the January sale. I don’t get why Naruto & DBZ are the only ones getting great games (I know that Pirate Warriors 4 is meant to be good but too old at this point).
I voted Persona 3 Portable, the game that created modern Persona.
I actually really like the design. Also find it fun that it’s named project Leonardo as the controller kind of looks like a turtle shell & has blue lights.
@UltimateOtaku91 The man has been at PlayStation since the PSOne (20+ years) & was largely responsible for PlayStation’s dominance in Europe.
People are always looking for someone to blame, but when your top dog the buck stops with you. I don’t think he’s loosing any sleep over it, as PlayStation is as strong as ever (as a brand).
Early game the Axe, but by the end I found myself using the blades more. The Spear was more of a defensive option when I had to wait for cool-downs or had to grab life/rage.
@WallyWest Aren’t every single one of those games critically acclaimed? Were they not re-released in some form in 2022?
Didn’t even make the top 5 & both those games combined made up 6% of the votes.
Personally 2022 was a dry year. Delays after delays. It only made sense that people went back to the things they know. Out of the top 10 I only played 2 games GOW:R & Elden Ring & neither was my GOTY (Crisis Core), because the game that wins isn’t necessarily the best game, but the one you enjoyed the most.
@Mikey856 The game itself means a lot to me. So I’m being completely biased. It has a really rich & deep cast & has one of, if not the best story I’ve ever played.
Gameplay wise you have to remember that this is a handheld game from 2007 so it’s very limited. You pretty much just travel through fancy corridors from point A to B & kill everything you see. The missions of which there are 300 of them are pretty much the same they just get progressively harder (1*to10*). The combat is at first pretty much button mashy, but expands once you get better materia & equipment. There’s also a constant spinning slot machine (dmw) that depending on the results rolled will buff you, allow you to use other characters abilities, summon or level up.
Levelling up isn’t completely random, but your exp bar is hidden as is exp gained. When you get closer to levelling up or surpass it your chances get higher to roll 777, but there’s some luck involved. I levelled up twice against a single enemy for example without actually gaining any exp.
If you like final fantasy 7 this is a must play imo. The story itself is worth the price of admission & your time. Just remember this a 2007 PSP game with shinier graphics & new voice acting (everyone was replaced to line it up with FF7Remake).
If I remember correctly the reason Crisis Core wasn’t ported was due to licensing issues with the soundtrack in particular the track ‘Why’. The Japanese agency that worked with the artist did not want their work to be distributed digitally, which is still a problem in Japans game dev scene to this day (Judgement has only just been ‘fixed’).
Great interview, hope to see more of this type of content in 2023.
GOW:R’s cast in general is brilliant but Thrud definitely stands out. She’s really mature. She knows who she wants to be, her role in the family (no spoilers) & is open minded when she has to make choices unlike the rest of her family.
Also it’s interesting that she mentioned that the mocap work is a blend of theatre & film. I think production & writing/story telling are the next big changes we can expect in games (as seen by the writers room at ND). It’s much harder to have gameplay innovations when your stuck to developing to a console even more so when developing with the lowest common denominator in mind (last gen/switch).
This seems like maybe it’s about Factions like how live service games have seasons? I’m pretty sure ND said that factions would incorporate story.
Also there’s nothing wrong with having a writers room. It’s the natural progression imo. Some of the greatest skits you’d see in SNL or The Simpsons wouldn’t have been possible if it’s 1 or 2 guys writing the entire show.
Might be good for Neil to have other voices around.
@Milktastrophe Beat me to it by seconds. Games make way more money than movies or TV shows at this point. It’s only natural that games are going to push story telling forward in the future.
It’s nowhere near the longest acceptance speech tough. Hall of fame acceptance speeches can take like an hour for 1 individual.
I’ll never forget Mr T’s WWE HoF speech. He spoke for 22mins, had multiple ‘time to go moments’, mentioned wrestling once & the entire thing was about thanking his mother. I’m not even joking. Love your mother not only on Mother’s Day folks!
OT: Didn’t care for his speech much either, but I guess he was making up for losing out in 2018😬
Slipstream has my interest. I miss these types of games, so definitely will be picking up that soon. I’ll get to Moss Book 2 when I get around to PSVR2. I know it’s out on PSVR now, but my unit has long been retired.
@somnambulance I’ve seen stories like this on here before over the years & have wondered how that can happen. Just a serious of unfortunate events I guess.
It might be difficult as the game has been downloaded but it might be worth getting in touch with PlayStation customer service. A lot of people have been given refunds before due to accidental purchases even if the game has been downloaded as a ‘one time only refund’ if you explain the situation & get a sympathetic Sony CS person.
@somnambulance I have to ask, but how does that even happen?
You one had to have somehow put the game into your basket, then go through like 3-4 screens before actually purchasing the item from PSN & have had auto download on (which I don’t know is even a thing because after a purchase I have to manually hit the download button from the store page). All this occurred by dropping a controller? Genuinely curious.
@TheArt @LN78 I wouldn’t be so sure about that this year. It’s based on the staff’s GOTY lists. We’ve already had a few & I’d bet GOW: R based on their placement will rank 2nd or 3rd. Elden Ring will take it.
It looks good. I’ve recently picked up the manga again & I’m pretty much at the end of the Wano arc so need something for my one piece fix.
Brook really should’ve been in this game though. I’m not exactly sure where this takes place in the timeline, but given the bounty’s that were shown (Sanji 300mil+) he should’ve been there at this point.
@locoism25 Never going to happen though. Heavenly Sword didn’t sell anywhere well enough or be critically acclaimed enough for Sony to consider to fund a remake. This isn’t Shadow of the Colossus. Your more likely to got a Parappa the rapper remake.
8th isn’t great for Crisis Core, given that the other releases are months if not years old at this point.
However 82% on PS is good to see. I wonder what the XBox % was, 3-5%?
I think I’ll just wait for the collection to drop down into the £10 range in a couple of years from now. I already own all these, but FF6 is very tempting as maybe a one-off purchase as I wait on the collection.
Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. I have some issues with it, but for the most part really enjoying it. Will probably pop in for some FIFA at some point with the WC final coming up.
Reckon Sony need to have another state of play to showcase the launch line up. It feels like it’s tripled since the announcement. This is a huge get & it’s a free update!
@mollock He would’ve looked the part & has had 20+ years of being on TV experience. I’m sure they could’ve coached him into it. Also The Chaperone was decent.
Just a thought but Christopher Judge has stated in the past that he would like to play Kratos in the TV series. He’d be covered up in ash...I imagine that would cause some controversy.
Jason Mamoa would be a great fit as Kratos does have ‘olive skin’ underneath the layer of ash. Doubt he’d get rid of his hair though & a bald cap would probably just look wrong.
Not too bad I guess. I bet PS support internally has like a list of 50 FAQ’s. If someone in their assessment can get like 90%+ they would be a valuable asset to them & relieve PS support to deal with more pressing concerns. See nothing wrong with this.

Re: Round Up: The Last of Us TV Reviews Praise a Great Adaptation
Didn’t have any doubt!
Also with 9 episodes I’m just going to wait for them all to air & just binge them with the 1 week free trial.
Unless something mad happens like Joel gets killed in episode 1 & the rest are flashbacks I can wait.

Reckon Robert deserves a full point for that.

Did not expect that! Late GOW:R sweep from staff votes?
Personally it’s my 3rd favourite game of the year.
Crisis Core Reunion
GOW:R
Elden Ring
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - New Year 2023 Edition

Not really. I’ve long stopped trying, but will finish the game today.

Jokes aside with CD Project Red being on the podium but no Square Enix???
They’ve absolutely killed it this year & next year will be even better.

Re: Game of the Year: #5 - Cult of the Lamb
@somnambulance I reckon it’s Horizon 4th, Neon White, GOW:R & Elden Ring in that order.
It sucks but racers unfortunately have always been an overlooked category in the industry.

@get2sammyb Poll is wrong. It’s the 9th game of the year, not the 6th.
OT. I probably wouldn’t count it a GOTY list in a regular year, but given that not many big games released this year it’s probably about right.

The original is one of my favourite games of all time. Got this sitting under the tree, so will have to wait before I get stuck in.

HHH would’ve been perfect as Kratos 5-6 years ago.
They need to start with the Greek saga even IF they condense the whole trilogy into 1 season.

See nothing wrong with this.
Re: Hogwarts Legacy Delayed to April on PS4 While PS5 Version Goes Gold
I’ll be playing on PS4Pro & I actually wish the delay was a little longer.
How much bug squashing can you really do in 7 weeks, when the majority of the team will be busy with the next-gen versions?
Wish it was May instead.
That Switch version is definitely getting cancelled unless they turn off all particle effects & add a loading screen after every corridor😬

Re: Rumour: The Last of Us 3 Is In Development at Naughty Dog
I wanted something new first, but I guess it makes sense?
TLOU tv show will probably be into it’s 3rd season, by the time we get TLOU3 & they’re going to need new material.
Kind of reminds me of the Naruto Storm games where the games were super popular, but by the time they got to the 3rd game they had to go with an alternate ending as they out-sped the source material (anime).
I really wanted that space game though.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 456
Still making use of my 1 month of EA Play so some of those games. I’m pretty close to beating NFS Hot Pursuit which is surprisingly decent (even with the rubber banding). Might hop into FIFA during the quarter finals & if I have some time I’ll try out Jedi Fallen order.
