@Shepherd_Tallon Yh I’ve got Kingdom Hearts 3 & Nioh 2 as physical in my backlog, but I have a ton of PS4 games through Extra & Plus I want to at least check out before I move on.
Having said that if a new Uncharted came out I’d move on…👀

@Shepherd_Tallon It’s very much in line with the series drops & the JRPG drop from week 1->2. They’re extremely front loaded.

I imagine that there are plenty of people out there as well that would like to play it but just can’t.
I’m in that boat myself. Not buying a PS5 until I finish the PS4 backlog😅.

The second week drops for past mainline FF were:

•FF16- 88.76%
•FF7R- 89.95%
•FF15- 88.88%

The big qualifier here is though is that 7R & 15 were holiday releases, so they had much larger week 1 numbers.
FF16 is a summer release & going up against Zelda.
It will probably have a much longer tail than 15. That game was on sale within a month.

Would’ve been helpful a few years ago- you know in the lead up to RDR2.
Played through the game through PSNow instead. It was playable, but it sure was a chore.

Bully is already available as a PS2 classic with trophies, so probably GTA IV is the other game.

Yh I could not imagine playing Yakuza in anything but Japanese.

@Rob_230 I used to be a physical only guy, but I’ve shifted towards digital.
Don’t get me wrong I’d never trade in my P5 Day 1 steelbook edition, but the convenience has too much upside.

I don’t buy a lot of Day 1 games just the pre-load & knowing that the game is ready to go after work makes up the difference.

@OrtadragoonX I do enjoy a good COD campaign every now & then. My favourite is probably Infinite Warefare which everyone supposedly hates- even though it’s pretty damn good.

One of the better months for me. I almost bit the bullet on Alan Wake in the recent sales & COD Cold War is meant to have a good campaign. Can’t complain.

Finished the main story in DQ XI S so going to do some trophy clean up.
Apart from that Far Cry: New Dawn & Stray.

I’m surprised Sony hasn’t invested in some of these publishers like they did with Epic.

Buy a good chunk of shares. If they get sold off they’re in for a pay day, if not let them stay independent & make some money on the backend. Might even put Sony in a good position if SEGA were looking to be bought in the future.

The hope is of course that everything is going to stay the same, but that doesn’t seem likely. Eventually a lot of these publishers will just fall under a few umbrellas.

@Triumph741 Ratings don’t matter anymore in this day & age. It all streaming, on demand & catch up. Nobody watches live tv anymore unless it’s live sports.
WWE makes more money than ever & have nearly 100million YouTube subscribers.

@Triumph741 Very much so. AEW have got a show at Wembley in August & are expecting 60000+.
WWE just got bought by UFC parent company & are making more money than ever.
Less people might be tuning in each week live, but in many ways wrestling has never been bigger.
Also the current WWE champ is well over 1000 days as champ.

At least they got the move animations right, so that’s something to build on. Not interested in this iteration, but they might put out a good game in 3-4 years.

@freddquadros Yep I spent like 5 hours just in the casino to get the accolades for the trophy.
Funny thing was that I bet the max 2k on every number & the treasure on the roulette & after about an hour got 3 jackpot treasures In a row for a million coins each😂.

@freddquadros I’m also playing DQ XI S via extra so I absolutely get where you coming from. I’m 65+ hours in & pretty sure I started that game in April/early May.
I’m going for the platinum though so it’s going to take me like another 40 hours. Would’ve been crushed if that game was leaving next month.

Never got around to Alan Wake, so good month for me.

I’m not really a fan of this 3 week notice. Should be a month. I’ve got like 30+ games in my extra backlog. Seems like an inevitability when they’ll absolutely hammer me.

Luckily next month is alright for me. Just need to finish Stray before it leaves the service.

@Fiendish-Beaver I guess you’re right on the Starfield situation as the game was in development for PS, but then cancelled.
However with Elder Scrolls it’s been murky to say the least. There have been contradictory statements on that front.

@Tharsman You could very well be right. I just don’t think someone says we could outspent the competition without it having some sort resonance behind the scene. No one would put that out there in an internal correspondence.
Also I really don’t care for ABK. Don’t play CoD, never got into Crash & only dabble in Diablo, but I can certainly see why Sony would do everything in their power to drag their feet on this one.
Would be much more devastated if SEGA, Square or Capcom went.

@Tharsman His job is to retain & grow value for their shareholders. These big corps don’t really care about the individual.
Having CoD on Gamepass & it then being full price on PS would bite into Sony’s market share of CoD even if it stayed on PS.
Jim Ryan wants that guaranteed 30% from as many yearly CoD games as possible. It’s their yearly 3rd party cash cow. CoD has been built to be the home of PlayStation since the mid PS4-era, that wouldn’t be the case if it was available Day 1 on gamepass.

Also Phil offering CoD to be on PS+ isn’t what Sony wants. Day 1 games still sell on PS as shown by their own reluctance to not put 1st party titles up.

Phil or even Jim can’t be taken for their word that much is clear.
Elder Scrolls was meant to always come to all platforms due to legacy but Phil backtracked on that. He also said all existing contracts during acquisition would be honoured but backtracked on that with Starfield.
Jim said he believes in generations but backtracked on that.

Can’t take any of them by their word, but the way Phil has been trying to frame himself as this ‘good guy’ that just wants everyone to enjoy their games is just cringe.
At least Jim Ryan is a corporate suit that doesn’t really play video games & he owns it.

Imagine if Jim Ryan wrote an email to Herman Hulst giving him the ok to put Nintendo out of business via aggressive acquisitions. Wouldn’t happen.

2016 vs 2023 is a completely different world in how we consume things. Digital has gone way up since then & we had this little thing called COVID that changed our purchasing habits.

Also FFXVI is a PS5 exclusive with a much lower potential install base than PS4+Xbox during FFXV’s launch.

Also didn’t the demo come with a link to pre-order? I imagine that pushed even more into buying it digitally.
I’m sure the game will do great.

Just had the credits roll on Far Cry 5. It dragged on for way too long, but overall I had a good time with it. Really great ending. Guess I have to play New Dawn someday.

Going to start No Straight Roads before it leaves extra & carry on with DQXI S.

@AdamNovice PS mobile app is even worse…a pop up for every 3 games that are in your wish list.
One of the reasons I’ve stopped bothering adding games to the wish list.

@WallyWest @EVIL-C @KidRyan Not saying he shouldn’t be punished but 2.5 years is the max amount. They’ll be able to get it down to under 2 years at which point he’ll probably spent less than a year in prison with good behaviour or be out on probation (which is what I’d prefer to him).
Massive fine & probation I’d be fine with. The amount he’s being fined is already far greater than what he invested & is comparatively smaller what the other guys caught invested. Also the guy just tried to make some quick money, he didn’t hurt/kill anyone (apart from investors I guess).

Having said that the thought of Naka sharing a cell with someone that’s in for armed robbery is funny.

I think Keighley is starting to realise that he will soon find himself in a similar position as E3 unless he changes things up.

He’s been doing the rounds lately, which is a bit weird when it’s your platform & people should be flocking to you for a spot on the show.

I mean how many separate summer live streams are there at this point? Yakuza, Destiny, Guerilla Collective, … .

If he’s not careful SGF will turn into an indie showcase (nothing wrong with that) & that’s what the majority don’t want to see.
At least he’ll have TGA’s.

2.5+ years after PS5 release. I think that’s about the sweet spot given PS5 players are getting it as part of their extra subscription already.

They’re one of the few German publishers that are in the console space instead of PC. Don’t want anyone to lose their jobs, but there’s no recovering after that. Just the license itself must have cost them millions.

@practicein2021 That’s not really up for me anyone on message boards to decide. People way smarter make that decision. I platinumed Days Gone & thought it was good, but it wasn’t up to the standard of a Ghost, GOW,TLOUS2… .
If it was up to me we’d be on Gravity Rush 6 by now, but it isn’t.

Sony clearly has a quality bar. It reminds me back to the ‘Nintendo stamp of approval’ days.

It’s why Days gone 2 didn’t happen. It was good, but not great.

Bungie being in charge of approving live service/GAAS makes total sense. They have experience & know what does & won’t work.

It seems like Bungie is pretty much the PS Studios GAAS arbiters.
If you don’t hit the mark re-assess, scaled down or get shutdown.

ND is Sony’s golden goose. So if it’s not shaping up. Stop wasting time & move on.

As I’ve said before it makes total sense for Sony to not reveal any of the big hitters.
You don’t want to take any attention from Spider-Man 2 when it’s so close to release.

The funny thing is we know that these games are coming. Just because they haven’t been shown yet does not mean they’ve been cancelled. It’s just a smaller release window from reveal to release.

Having said that I wish we got a UC5 trailer. That absolutely happening & we’ll likely have to wait till the end of the year for another showcase.

Still need to make time for Disgaea 6 (I know it’s meant to be bad). Problem is these games demand so much time to be played ‘properly’- even if D5 was a much more streamlined experience.

I just finished do I might still be in hype land, but I thought it was very good.
The indies really brought it & it was interesting that we saw what the new 1st party teams are working on.

I guess they didn’t want any 1st party announcement to take the shine from Spidey 2- which by the way looks sooooo good. Ain’t nothing touching that trailer.

@TripleEyeGaming Live Service budget is predicted to go from 55% to 60%, but the overall investment has been raised meaning more money is going into both Live Service & Single player games which is great for both.
Also live service needs to be consistently sustained with updates whereas single player games are one & done.

I honestly loved it. Something for everyone. Indies carried the show for the most part, VR looked interesting & then we have the big hitters.

That Spider-Man 2 trailer was UC4 levels of epicness

@Vacuumator You know I thought the same thing until you find a game that gels with you.
For me it’s efootball23 which is F2P GAAS I play a couple of games pretty much every day for almost 4 months straight now. Probably have well over 1000hours into that by now.
I spent my first £5 on the game last week as there was a special sale on the in-game premium currency. Didn’t have to but wanted to as I’m above average & can just complete the weekly events to earn the currency.

There’s also Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Masters, but that game is just ok.

These games are just part of my rotation & go along with games like Far Cry 5, Dragon Quest XI S,…. .

Kimberley. I’ll have to find out to see. Personally think Juri fits my play style better.
