Re: Many More PS5, PS4 Games from China on the Way

FATPC

During the recent State of Play, Ballad of Antara was one of a few games that caught my interest (Astro stole the show for me). But afterwards when it was announced it was F2P, that interest fizzled out…nope, hard out for me.

Re: The Last of Us 2's Story Could Take Three HBO Seasons to Complete

FATPC

I really enjoyed the two games. I wasn’t a fan of some of the storyline decisions in the sequel, but overall I think they’ve been great. I just don’t have any interest in the adaptation, though I’m not sure why. Casting choices? Rehashing a story I’m familiar with? I guess for me, my gameplay experience, my extensive time with those characters is the definitive one.

Re: Concord PS5, PC Will Reportedly Require a PSN Account to Play

FATPC

Somehow I spent over 100 hours playing Helldivers II, really surprising because I don’t enjoy multiplayer games. So Concord clearly isn’t for me, I had no interest from the start. But I am finding the narrative surrounding the game to be fascinating. The outcry over requiring a PSN account…pretty one-sided argument about the bland aesthetic or ‘Marvel’ dialogue…concern over the potential price point when the competition is F2P (though the narrative around F2P is generally very negative)…

It has been pretty interesting to watch play out. Will the beta convert the skeptics? Will a PlayStation fan base show up to support the game? Will it crash and burn? We’ll soon see…

Re: Outriders Is Going to Be a Commercial Crater on PS5, PS4

FATPC

This isn’t really my type of game, but decided to give it a try with the demo...ended up really enjoying it and leveled up the four classes to the demo cap. Then I placed the pre-order...which I just canceled earlier today.

Not a big deal, but I’m not purchasing it at full price when the publisher doesn’t even value it that much. Maybe I’ll buy it down the road...or forget about it. But like I said, not a big deal with the games on my backlog and the others that are coming.

Re: Hands On: Incredibly Rough Outriders Demo Kills Our Hope for This Looter Shooter's Launch

FATPC

I couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed the demo. Looter Shooter is not a genre I generally get into. But a trailer I saw looked interesting and according to the developer’s FAQ, this isn’t a GaaS...it is a 25-30hr campaign that can be played solo. So I watched a few minutes of the demo on YouTube and decided to try it out. Definitely technical issues (demo crashed twice, audio synch issues, etc), but I found myself enjoying the gameplay...Technomancer! Finished the demo and tried to pre-order from the ‘credits’ page, but that was broken too. But I did pre-order from the PS store...the demo worked.

Re: Bulletstorm, Outriders Dev Working on Second AAA Game for PS5

FATPC

@Dezzy70 I have a question for you. 3rd party publishers are going to do what they want. The focus on next gen or cross gen is coming from Sony and Microsoft respectively. Is the focus on cross gen truly for the fans or the result of the MSFT development cycle? Aside from Halo, what is expected (AAA) from 1st part in the first 1-2 years? Everything in the Xbox event seemed a ways out...and Halo probably started development as a current gen title. Microsoft is being lauded for their customer first approach, But I’m not so sure.

Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Will Probably Come to PS5, Eventually

FATPC

I will probably skip it honestly. With the backlog I have, buying only one system makes sense for me (the additional exclusives would just add more games I can’t get to). And PlayStation makes the type, and variety, of games that speak to me. So I’ll be getting PS5 on day one (assuming I can get it pre-ordered).

Any of the games that come later to PS5, especially a year later, I’m not going to pay full price for. So the wait is longer...and most likely would just end up on the aforementioned backlog.

The good news is I’m way more excited for Kena than any of the launch exclusives revealed for the Series X.

Re: Talking Point: What Free July 2018 PS Plus Games Do You Want?

FATPC

I hope for franchises that I love, with upcoming sequels, that more people should experience and hopefully enjoy and buy the sequels when they come out.

1. Dying Light - I enjoyed this so much! I seldom buy DLC, but I bought and 100% it...such a fun world to explore...and I use 'fun' loosely considering its setting. But traversal, combat, enemy variety, story - a nice package.

2. Nioh - It is so good! Fun/quirky moments breaking up the punishing combat. And I'm not good (I summoned help for the 2nd boss...but was role playing as a ninja, so it was allowed) but even I made it deep into the story. I need to get back and finish it before 2 comes out. I think people are hesitant, because of the difficulty but for free a lot more people could experience a special game.

Re: PS4 Exclusive Days Gone to Have Huge Story Focus

FATPC

This is my most anticipated exclusive title this year...I can't wait to see what Bend delivers. And there are a lot of games I'm looking forward to this year, including exclusives GoW, Spider-Man, and Detroit. If it wasn't for RDR2, it'd top the list of all games coming out this year.

Re: Feature: PlayStation VR - How's Sony's Virtual Reality Gamble Going One Year Later?

FATPC

Thank you for this article, because it got me thinking about PSVR and my favorite experiences so far. But also the games I missed out on - I wanted Farpoint at launch but I couldn't find the AIM controller anywhere. I've been looking for months with no luck...I just checked Amazon and there were like 8 in stock. So I pulled the trigger (see what I did there?) and apparently I had $20ish dollars in credit, so it was cheap too! And Farpoint is on sale on PSN too!

Re: Guide: October 2017 PS4 Game Release Dates

FATPC

Not a big FPS fan, but I really enjoyed the previous Wolfenstein...a fun story. So I'll be picking that up at some point. And I'm interested in Dogma...I've heard good things. But my must have this month is South Park. I loved the first one!

Re: Fortnite: Battle Royale Attracts Over One Million Players on Launch Day

FATPC

I've played a few more rounds...can't say I'm any better, but I did get my first couple of kills. The first was someone camping in a bathroom - luckily I had a shotgun. The second was 'Epic'...I landed in an alley between two buildings fenced in at both ends. What I didn't realize was that someone followed me down, so I started swinging my pick-axe. They picked up a sniper rifle, but in the close confines of the alley they ony got one shot off which missed. Pick-axe 1, Sniper Rifle 0.

Re: Fortnite: Battle Royale Attracts Over One Million Players on Launch Day

FATPC

Shooters in general and specifically PvP aren't really my thing, but I wanted to try it out...I've seen a few PUBG streams and it looks like fun. I played 3 matches and actually had a really good time - I was middle of the pack for two of them and placed 5th in one...but I had zero kills...I probably softened a few players up for the next player...does that count as an assist? I'll take it

But honestly I would recommend to anyone who's on the fence. I'm horrible and I had fun with it. Definitely something to jump into between marathon sessions...currently, Shadow Tactics.
