Re: Sony: Our Exclusives Are Big on Character and Story

FATPC

@ztpayne7 I don't know if I've ever played 5 hours online in multiplayer for any game. I did the bare minimum for Far Cry 4 for the Platinum and I got online co-op help for a particularly difficult boss in Nioh (I was a Ninja, so the tactic is OK).

Re: Sony: Our Exclusives Are Big on Character and Story

FATPC

@Number09 I understand online games are here to stay. There is a strong fanbase for those games obviously and I'm glad they exist for those gamers. They're just not for me.

And no, I don't buy popcorn and drinks at the movies...BTW I'm going to see Guardians today!

Re: Sony: Our Exclusives Are Big on Character and Story

FATPC

I do love the variety of games Sony offers - something for everyone. That's why I prefer the PS ecosystem. For me, single-player experiences - 3rd person action, 1st person narrative, platformers, RPGs, etc... With large AAA exclusives - Infamous, Uncharted, TLOU, Bloodborne, GoW, Days Gone, Spider-Man, Ratchet & Clank... Not to mention strong 3rd party support. I love my PS4!!

Re: Farpoint's Cryo Pack DLC Pack Is Looking Pretty Cool

FATPC

I'd like to buy Farpoint, but I can't find the aim controller anywhere. Poor game launch...even if they misinterpreted the demand (expensive VR game requiring a special controller for the optimal experience) their communication about new supply has been nonexistent. Too bad, because this was an opportunity to support VR.

Re: Feature: E3 2017 Game of the Show - Spider-Man

FATPC

I really liked the looks of Anthem and Skull & Bones, but they're not for me (online multiplayer). If either of these were single player with campaigns, they'd make my top-5 choices more difficult...I'd have to create ties to include them all!

5. Ace Combat
4. Hot Shots
3. God of War
2. Spider-Man
1. Days Gone

Re: Feature: All the E3 2017 Press Conferences Rated and Reviewed

FATPC

@BAMozzy Thanks, I figured they did, I'm just not tuned into their ecosystem as closely. I do watch Unlocked regularly for the general game info and I like their cast.

I also try to keep the information feed limited, unless I'm on the fence (Need for Speed...I'm really not a racing game fan, but it looks fun), there's nothing to spoil (I just want to fly around in an A10 and blow stuff up in Ace Combat and play golf in Hot Shots) or if there's something specific I want to learn about (traversal options and scope of Skyrim VR).

Re: Feature: All the E3 2017 Press Conferences Rated and Reviewed

FATPC

@Wesker that's fair...I just think it's the best of both worlds by doing a blast of great game announcements in quick succession and then deeper dives into the games with Dev commentary on the show floor. For Ace Combat the developer talked about (and showed) how rain would build up on the canopy of the plane as it went through clouds and it could turn to ice at high altitude. And the Skyrim VR demo included how the wands could be used to handle a weapon or magic in each, but movement would be teleportation...but you could use DS4 too...a lot of options! I can't wait to be sick in Skyrim!! 😒

Re: Feature: All the E3 2017 Press Conferences Rated and Reviewed

FATPC

@BAMozzy I saw Phil on his yearly PR circuit, Gamespot, Giant Bomb, etc. But I don't really know about Microsoft's participation at E3 aside from the conference. Does MS do something similar to Sony's demos/interviews? My favorite part of the event are the showcases (get the most media coverage too), but I love the developer interviews Sony does too. Just wondering if MS does that too or do they rely on the media outlets - IGN, Gamespot, etc.

Re: E3 2017: Ubisoft Announces Multiplayer Pirate Game, Skull & Bones

FATPC

Sadly aside from Far Cry, the Rabids game appealed to me the most and I don't plan on getting a switch. BGE2 seems like it's in the concept stage and like many I was HUGELY excited when Skull & Bones was first shown...until it was revealed to be a multiplayer blah...so crushing! I'm just not in Ubis demographic

Re: E3 2017: BioWare's ANTHEM Due Spring 2018, Not Exclusive to Xbox

FATPC

I was excited when I first heard about Bioware's new IP, but the Destiny comparisons are disappointing for sure. I was hoping for a new RPG - a sci-fi Dragon Age - oh well, the rumors are it is an online shooter. There's certainly a market (Destiny, Overwatch, Wildlands, Division, etc.), just not a game for me.

Re: Dragon Quest XI Promises at Least 50 Hours of Adventure on PS4

FATPC

I used to play a lot of JRPGs as a kid - probably my favorite genre. I have fond memories of Dragon Warrior in particular. But I play them very little these days...I Am Setsuna was the only one in a few years and I really loved it!

The wait (12 months+) for it to come west put me off the genre. I'm not paying $60 for an old game. It's the same reason I didn't buy the latest Tomb Raider. Oh well, I hope it's great, because I know A LOT of others are looking forward to it.

Re: March 2017 NPD: Two PS4 Exclusives in Top Five Spots

FATPC

Yeah, I was wrong on this one. I assumed Wildlands would come out on top as a multiplat with fun sandbox co-op play. But I thought Horizon would come in 2nd. I thought Zelda would do well with a high attach rate (though not 100%+), but that it would be limited by platform install base. And I thought both would beat Andromeda even though it's multiplat, because of the tepid reviews and horrible word of mouth (bugs, animations, etc.).

Oh well, back to Horizon!

Re: PS4's Run Halted by Nintendo Switch Launch in March NPD

FATPC

@mookysam I agree, I wouldn't write-off Horizon just yet. Zelda's imressive attach rate is still limited by the new user install base. My guess is that Horizon takes the crown for March (for exclusives)...Wildlands will probably take the overall crown, considering the even larger install base [Xbox users have little else to buy ] and people's questionable taste in games

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn Hunts Down 2 New Gameplay Trailers

FATPC

My most anticipated game since I first saw it so long ago. I pre-ordered the collector's edition with the Aloy statue...and I very rarely buy physical games anymore. I saw the preview videos from Kinda Funny and EZA. Everything I've seen sounds awesome and now I'm on blackout with my head down in Nioh!

Re: Nioh Stock Is Already a Little Light on the Ground

FATPC

@GBMatthew They provide options for the players...high frame rate with lower resolution for players more interested in fast action...high resolution with lower frame rate for those more interested in graphics...and a middle ground...I think Nioh is great and I applaud the Devs for catering to different preferences.
