"High-Fidelity Asset Creation: Generating photorealistic 3D models, complex animations, and advanced environmental physics for modern engines requires thousands of labor hours from highly specialized artists. And this is where AAA could cut costs. As tech get even more advanced, the cost and dev times, of those, will just increase more and more. It's insane to compare, that we got an entire trilogy of Uncharted and a Last of us game, within the PS3 gen, and now we haven't even gotten one new game (not counting remakes/remasters), during this gen. Wouldn't surprise me, if Intergalactic, will become a PS6 release title.
If they would just stop focusing on über realism, they could maybe have made four-five games, with that Intergalactic budget, and release them two years apart again.
I don't know how much longer AAA studios can keep increasing the cost and dev times, before it all comes crashing down on them. Oh well.
Yes, please.
Tried to play the PS3 originals, a while back, but the horrible framerate, made it so damn hard to aim, due to the added control lag.
I really hope, if this will only become a remaster, that they remove the ugly bloom filter, that plagued that generation.
Did it through emulation on PC, which made it look much better.
The PS3/360 generation, is one of the harder ones, to go back to, due to the (often) insanely bad framerate's, and the ugly piss filters, used back then. This and Resistance (especially 2 and 3) would benefit greatly, just by getting a locked 60fps, or more.
And this is why I don't use social media and share any information.
Don't understand why people are so willing to share everything online.
I keep everything on private, in profiles.
And I only buy digital, through Paypal.
I gave the game a chance. I prefer the gameplay in Saros, but after two days, I got bored, and haven't touch it again. I love that you can jump directly to the new area, but so little of it changes, that it becomes too repetitive to go through them, over an over again.
I like the first game, but even season 1 was painful to go through. Never bothered with season 2, as I didn't like the direction part 2 took. And from what I heard, it was a wise choice, to skip it.
I'm overall bored of all these shows based on videogames.
I wish I would never read or hear about AI ever again, but sadly no matter where you go, you just can't seem to escape it. Overall the entire tech industry is depressing right now, with so much focus on AI.
Only time I buy physical, is if it's a console game I'm not sure about, and wanna try first. Especially since Sony don't offer refunds for digital games, like Steam does.
And at 50, I rather have convenience, as I got tired of all the physical clutter. 20-30 years from now, I doubt I would care, if the servers would be shut down. As I would already gotten my moneys worth of gameplay from them, or I play them on a modded console, or emulated on PC. There are more to life, than hoarding physical video games.
I'm mostly a PC gamer anyways, so I've been used to digital, for about 20 years now.
Sony sounds a bit desperate.
The ones who haven't upgraded yet, probably won't.
Not everyone on the planet, cares about GTA VI.
If they sold a $299 edition, then they probably would have upgraded now.
Paying the current price, for a console that came out, back in 2020, is pure insanity, as it is filled with outdated tech now.
And the updated Pro won't be on their buying list either, as people who still enjoy their PS4, probably don't care about raytracing, 60+fps and PSSR2.
The PS3 didn't become a huge success, until they released the $299 Slim.
But that was back in the good old days, when consoles got cheaper with age.
AI should be used to search and fix bugs, so we don't need all those damn patches, and often half broken games at launch. But I don't want AI used for visuals, and other stuff that need that human touch.
Didn't enjoy this one at all, as it felt so damn dated and dull. Haven't enjoyed a RPG from them, since the original release of Skyrim. Not sure what to expect from the next Elder Scrolls.
Keeping expectations in check. After all these years, I doubt it will live up to the hype that people have built up. I at least hope that it keeps the old school dark humor and satire, and that they haven't sanitised it for modern audiences.
Pragmata of course 😁👍
I bought Saros as well, been playing for 6 hours.
Think I like it more than Returnal, but still, not totally hooked yet. Was hoping for the same random maps, as it gets boring to run through, basically the same ones.
I hope it's better than Spider-Man 2, which was bloody terrible. And yeah, I wouldn't shed a tear, if the Superhero genre, just died for the next decade or two. It's like with Westerns, back in the 40:s-60:s, where the fatigue, basically killed the genre, for the next two decades. But people love consuming the same stuff, on TV, Movies and Videogames, over and over again...
Yes! Can't wait for the story DLC. Both this and Pragmata, are definitely on top of my GOTY list. It's great that Capcom can deliver so many excellent AAA games, within one year, when some developers only releases one game per generation, these days. And with Onimusha coming up, it starting to feel like the good old days. 😁👍
@MFTWrecks
Read again, I said lose a LIFE, not game over.
But still, I get what you mean.
Though an Arcade game lasted maybe 5 to 10 minutes (unless you are a pro), before you had to give it another try, compared to replay an entire stage, that takes about an hour.
@MFTWrecks Sure, but when you lose a life in Pac-Man, you don't have to redo the entire board again, and the destroyed enemies in Galaga, stay dead. If everything respawned, when you died, just like in rogue-likes, then people would have smashed the cabinets, even worse than getting a game over 😂
I have a Pro, but got it for PC instead. That Pathtracing, and ultrawide support, is just to beautiful to ignore. If it wasn't for that, then I would probably have gotten the PS5 version.
It's just hilarious, to see the bickering between OG and Pro owners, just like those silly PC Master Race vs Console fights.
Yes, the Pro is clearly better, but it not like the OG version is totally unplayable, as the framerate mode seems fine to me, even with the graphical downgrades. Just let people enjoy the game, on whatever system they got, instead of this endless back and forth.
@AnginaPectoris Yeah, there is so much stuff I missed on my first playthrough, that I wanna find. And the amount of secrets in the game, is mindblowing.
@DogPark Why does the development time have anything to do with the lenght of the campaign? It have more to do with Capcom not being satisfied with the gamplay and balance, which made them delay the game, and also take a break during 2023. It's another example, of actually caring about the results, instead of rushing it to the market, and fix later.
Rather have 12 fun hours, compared to 50-80, with slow sections that just drags on forever, just to pad out the running time.
Wouldn't be a proper Bethesda open world rpg, if it didn't crash and vomited bugs everywhere. Can't wait for the mess, that awaits us all, when Elder Scrolls 6, finally releases...in 2076.
Kinda hard to care about what happens to these multi billion dollar companies (who couldn't care any less about us), when there are real problems happening around the world right now, compared to game spoilers...
It's kind of hilarious how bad UI:s have become , on basically everything.
I wish the XMB on PS3, was used for PS5 as well. Everytime I boot my PS3, and have to find something, it's still incredible, how fast and easy you can find everything, in comparison.
The graphics are nice, but sadly it's yet another roguelite, that loses its appeal, after an hour or two. But it's so cheap, that it's at least worth to give it a try.
Graphically it looks great.
But I wasn't a fan of Returnal, so I'm not sure about this one, even if it seems to fix some of the issues I had with the last game.
And it costs equal to $85-$90, here in Sweden...
Maybe if I find a cheaper used copy, in a couple of months, I might at least give it a try. A demo would be nice.
In a more sane gaming world, the Slim would be a 199-249:- console by now, especially THIS late into the generation. I seriously doubt that parts for the outdated hardware, are still as expensive today. Sony needs to be humbled again. And with sales starting to crash now, this might actually do it.
Castlevania have changed its artstyle MANY times, during the last decades. And the Anime look, started with Rondo of Blood, on PC Engine. The look reminds me of the Nintendo DS trilogy, with its colorful style. If I want that old-school look, I'll just play Super Castlevania IV again.
I could never get into this series. I'm not really a fan of Disney, except for the short films, from the 40-50:s. The characters lacks the personality of the cartoons. The mix just don't work for me...
Here in Sweden, the Slim model, now cost equal to $750 to $850...
Remember when slim consoles cost around $199?
As if this gen, couldn't get any worse...
Played it on PC a while back, but quickly got bored with it. It felt very dated and janky, and not in a charming way. Could have changed the title to "Generic AAA Open World: The Game". But I know the game has its fans, and it's good that more fans of that kind of game, gets to play it now.
I'm just a bit worried about Elder Scrolls VI, as the last RPG from them, that I liked, was Skyrim. And that was 15 years ago...
