Re: As PS6 Delay Rumours Swirl, Fans Debate Ray Tracing's Worth

@Scottyy agreed. what do we want from our GAMES? For me, well designed and fun experiences. This is why I have started playing more old games, as having grown up with spectrum games in the 80's, better ray tracing is utterly laughable to me. The emperors new clothes

@HRdepartment no idea why nobody else upvoted you. this is all un-necessary fluff. what matters is well designed, original, interesting games, not making a generic, dull game look marginally prettier. I feel like I'm losing my mind in this digital foundry led world.

could not care how well shadows reflect in a puddle in a game. have better art direction.

can count on one hand the ps5 games that look better than red dead 2 did on ps4

who really cares that much about graphics, to this extent. I've had more FUN playing Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild than most PS5 games... graphics are not the be all and end all. Channels like Digital Foundry are an absolute con. What matters is how fun the games are.

Re: 'Exclusives Are Absolutely Not Happening': Xbox Helix Will Share Library with PS6

Dimey

I was an xbox and nintendo gamer for several generations, but got a PS5 because of the (console) exclusive PS4 and 5 games I really wanted to play, and couldn't get elsewhere. I have never bought the line from Phil that people won't buy an Xbox if there are enough exclusive quality games on it. Also, you don't have to sell your PS5 to buy an Xbox, it's not one or the other...

Once MS started committing to putting everything on PS, I stopped buying games on the XSX.

If I still only had the XSX and Switch 2, no way would I want the hybrid PC thing they are peddling. I want a simple, under the TV console, no windows updates, don't care about PC store fronts. And the price, for something with NO exclusive games, is likely to be nuts.

Re: 'They're Not Going to Delay PS6': Hardware Leaker Says 2027 Still Likely After Xbox Helix Reveal

I'll buy one when Sony releases something epic that isn't also perfectly playable on PS5... like most of us I have a collection of unplayed games on my PS5 that will take me years to get through. Just started (finally!) Cyberpunk 2077 and graphically it is blowing me away, so I'm good.

Gaming isn't like it was when I was younger, when you picked up a new console because it had 10, 20 or more games that you could only play on that system. Game development is so long and costly now, you simply can't make a raft of shiny new games exclusive to your new system, as most of your install base is happily gaming away on older systems.

Those days will never come back. Whilst it was exciting getting an N64 for Super Mario 64, which blew SNES games out of the water, it wasn't fun being unable to play your old games without having multiple systems under the TV. Cross-gen gaming is here to stay. There are so many people happily gaming on PS4 still, I can see a lot of them bypassing PS5 entirely and getting a PS6, and not losing access to a single game by doing so.

Re: Here's Your First Look at the God of War TV Show

this looks like The BBC made it. which is about as big a criticism I can give. I mean that tellytubby of a kid is holding the damn arrow on the wrong side of the bow, and his dad has a beer gut. surely this isn't real???

Re: Rumour: PS Portal OLED Version Coming This Year

Dimey

couldn't get on with my portal, as the sort of games I want to play on a small screen, I play on my deck, and the sort of games I have on my PS5 are the games that I prefer on a big TV.

nothing wrong with the tech - just isn't for me. regret the purchase.

Re: Forza Horizon 6 Confirmed to Launch on PS5 in 2026, Gameplay Revealed

as somebody who played FH2-5 on XSX, I really like the fact you have more of a career mode this time, starting as Joe Public, and not immediately having loads of badly written NPC's calling you 'superstar' (looking at you, FH5!)... though I'm sure the awful dialogue remains!!

hoping the Fable team have helped a little with the dialogue though, haha! Looks good, but will wait for the inevitable sale, as 80h into my GT7 journey and still have a loooong way to go!

Re: Fable Announced for PS5, Releases in Autumn 2026

Dimey

looks good to me. the casting choices so far give me confidence that there are a lot of other British comedy icons to be revealed between now and release date.

and as somebody who hates souls like games, dodge parry, etc, the combat being a bit like Witcher 3 is not a negative for me

looking forward to this a lot.

Re: PS6 Could Be Delayed Due to RAM Price Chaos

Dimey

@4fold I genuinely think that the steam machine has really pi$$ed on Microsoft's chips here. I jumped from XSX to PS5 a couple of years back but if I hadn't, I'd be seriously considering steam machine over anything else...

Re: PS6 Could Be Delayed Due to RAM Price Chaos

Dimey

not read all the comments but agree with the first bunch that I read, for the first time since gaming on my spectrum in the early 80's, I have no interest in a newer console. it feels like tech has plateaued, to the point you need DF videos to identify differences between versions of games.

the only disappointment, if true, is it means a delay to a handheld that plays PS4 and 5 games natively... I'd love that, I have such a library and backlog, that and my ps5 would probably do me for the rest of my days, haha!!!
