I just hate how so many modern reviewers just focus on the technical side of things. performance, how it looks. it's an obsession, and digital foundry obviously the worst. So little text given to the story, how the game plays, is it FUN or not.
Yeah, I love it and so excited to play it again. just hope the 7 doesn't put off people who have never played it, as it's a 9 all day long, I don't care what your 'expectations' are.
Just checked, it gets a 9/10 on purexbox too. If I expected anybody to mark it down it would be them, not push square, as it's not much different to the last time it was remastered!
Fallout S2 trailer was good to see, but not a game!
Unbeatable looked fun, I loved outer worlds so up for OW2, but it was a bad trailer...
that vertical rogue like thing that was like vampire survivors meets Ikari warriors looked good, but not much there for me.
oh, and lego batman, but the recent Star Wars lego was pretty unplayable for me, despite looking great, so not that excited. too old for that.
as somebody who has been Nintendo and Xbox only for a long time, but got a PS5 9 months ago for Helldivers 2 and other Sony exclusives, I'll be a bit miffed if all the rest of the exclusives are ported over, as I'll have bought a PS5 for no reason. But I don't see them all coming over. But it wouldn't surprise me. I had a BSB squarial... and a betamax video player... and a Neo geo pocket colour. I'm cursed haha
streaming has decimated and taken all value out of the music industry. I deplore it. in film it is killing the cinema, and the DVD market, and gaming is next...
@Amnesiac just replied the same to a comment. That's why I loved the save state on these games. I'd finish a level and save it, then if I died and lost my power ups on the next level, would restart from the save state.
Love gradius, and r-type, as managed to beat them on 1 life eventually, but bullet hell style SHMUPs I am hopeless at.
@Jrs1 agreed, most of these are on that collection and it's often 5 or 6 quid...
I love gradius. the replay function on the aforementioned collection was how I learnt the game, and managed to play through it and back to the first level again! Like R-type, if you lose a life and your power ups, on later levels, it's practical game over.
Great, if flawed, game. Loved my time with it. For some reason it draws so much derision online, and I bet half these people have never ever played it. I have little faith in Bethesda addressing the issues the game has. But if the second DLC is good, then I'll probably buy it again, on PS5. I just can't get my head around some of the comments in this thread, but will leave it at that.
just to counter a lot of the opinions that always sprout up when this game is mentioned, I absolutely loved this game. I think a lot of the disappointment was that it doesn't have the replay factor like Skyrim, for example, and you can't just explore the open world in the same way as that game... but if you just play the main story and the faction quests, it's a BIG game still, I really enjoyed it and certainly got my monies worth
nobody tends to mention the two Ori games... they were probably more of a fit for the switch, hence the port there, but they are both absolutely cracking games.
@thechetearly it has a metacritic score of 83? in the press, it was reviewed pretty well!
I loved my time with it, if it appeals, definitely go for it, it's seemingly trendy to hate on it online, but I really enjoyed playing through the story.
I used to really get excited by this sort of stuff, but am so over this now. Seen these game 20 times over the years, why does nobody ever release the arcade games from the 90s??
While I totally understand how this remake makes some folks angry, it's a 10/10 for me, as I only ever played THPS 1-3 originally so have no nostalgia for 4.
Happy for a new curated soundtrack, for me, that's part of the magic of THPS - introduce me to new bands, not the same ones I already know!
And not to be a pedant, but I disagree with "it may not be the greatest remake". You can make changes to something and it still qualifies as a remake... my dictionary has remake to mean "a new or different version of an old film or song". Making changes to the original games doesn't make this any less of a remake... but I've had a drink so sorry if I am coming off a bit *****.
Not played the 3 new levels yet, but I hope this is a sign that a genuine new game may come next, as they have the engine, and can clearly make new, interesting levels!
@Realist of course not, but they've obviously spent enough time with the game to write a guide, so why not review it, far more useful than a guide to a game that isn't out yet!
@ElectricWizard I own all 3 consoles so visit this site, and the XSX and Nintendo sister sites. There are so many people with the mindset of a kid on the playground, or people that will defend their favourite corporation no matter what, it's crazy. I've blocked so many accounts! I swear, even people defending Xbox this week. It's nuts.
Xbox console sales are beyond dead. People will get a PS and/or a Switch if they want a console.
If Sony ported all their other exclusives to Xbox, I would be surprised, as I just don't see it worth the effort. As others have said, not enough Xbox players would pay money for them. Why bother when there are so many bangers on gamepass, you don't need to buy anything anymore?
Of these, only picked up FH5 (and finished), as trying to work through my 'backlog' before buying more games! But this seems a fairly reasonable list.
Light-dark expedition 33 is something I'll certainly pick up eventually however, it looks great. For anybody who has played it, the Skill Up documentary is a very interesting watch! In fact, it's a good watch regardless. As a grown up myself, he is one of the few gaming content creators who puts out videos that are seemingly tailored for adults!
I genuinely think a lot of people spend more time and commit more energy to rumours, YouTube streams, etc etc than just playing games... I am guilty of this too, but am trying to just play games, and have fun, and not get dragged into this circus of gossip, outrage, and frustration...
this is obviously a hollow comment as I type this post pub on a Friday night, but there we are. I'm going to spend the weekend playing super Mario bros wonder, RDR2, vampire survivors and the new Mario Kart, and not looking at the internet, aside from checking the cricket score!
@HotGoomba thank you... I am playing this on my PS5 for the first time, and absolutely loving it. 30fps is fine. but thank you for your concern. I recently upgraded my tv to an OLED HDR screen, and RDR2 just looks mind blowing to me... I find it hilarious how people fein outrage at the performance of games like RDR2, or are waiting for a remaster before playing. Jeeez... just play the game!
I'm about 45h into my first ever play through, so if this is true hope it isn't months away, and lets me port my save across! But loving it on PS5 as it is, as for 30 fps I couldn't care less tbh.
@Propaperpusher whilst I generally agree, I don't want this to tank as Remedy make some of my favourite single player games, and struggle to make big profits on those as it is!

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Avoids Battlefield 6 by a Month, Out 14th November
awful - the death of the single player campaign in COD. forced PvP war zone in a single player campaign? give over.
Re: Sword of the Sea (PS5) - Stunning Journey-Like Is a PS Plus Extra Hall of Famer
I don't have PSP. This looks good but 3h.... how much does it cost, I can't find the price anywhere in your review?

@TrollOfWar ta, yeah aware of them, not buying until / without a COD MW3 remaster though, can't stand unfinished stories! My OCD wouldn't allow it
Re: Rumour: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's Campaign May Force You into Multiplayer
beyond done with this series... the only thing that would make me spend money on COD is a remastered collection of the original 3 MW games...

Re: Mini Review: Gradius Origins (PS5) - Impressive Collection Bundles Classics with Brand New Title

Re: Oblivion Remastered Patch 1.2 Out Today, Adds New Difficulty Options, Improves Performance, More
picked this up in the sale and will play it once I finish THPS3+4 / the patch drops...
bracing myself for poor performance and bugs, but hopefully I can still enjoy the game!

Re: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 Guide: A 100% Collectibles Walkthrough
@Realist which is why I said 'properly released'.
Re: 'We're Just Getting Started': Sony Marks 15 Years of PS Plus with Future Pledge
I'd like a cheaper tier that just gives online play and cloud saves, but they'll never do that as it would cost them money.

@Realist of course not, but they've obviously spent enough time with the game to write a guide, so why not review it, far more useful than a guide to a game that isn't out yet!

Re: Round Up: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 PS5 Reviews Say Shove-It to the Sceptics
@MFTWrecks to others, they expect a remake, i.e. made differently.
Re: Round Up: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 PS5 Reviews Say Shove-It to the Sceptics
I think some people are a little confused over what the word remake actually means!
"make (something) again or differently"
Re: Oblivion Remastered Patch 1.2 Detailed, Adds New Difficulty Options, Improves Performance, More
very much looking forward to playing this game, when it's properly working / finished

bit weird publishing this before the game is properly released, or reviewed?
