still amazed this hasn't had a sequel as it sold what, 7-8 million copies, so the demand is clearly there, regardless of how well this does

@UltimateOtaku91 I just don't see how people don't see this. nobody is selling their PS5 to buy an xbox, but me and countless others seem to be selling / shelving their series X to buy a PS5.

The next xbox will sell horribly.

I'm new to Sony, if it was clear, it was known, that they had 1 or 2 big shows a year that focus on first party, then 1 or 2 on third party games, you'd know what to expect and this could all be avoided!!

@Sakai I mean, headlines on this site like "Sony XDEV urges fans to tune in to state of play" etc will create some expectations. After that, I expected some exciting announcements. Lots of these multi platform games shown look good, but I expected more than I saw, based on the hype Sony themselves created...

with so much negative Sony press recently around years of wasted dev time on live service, lots of job losses, we then have an SOP announced, that feels like a positive reaction to all the negativity. Sony staff themselves URGING us to watch... then it's all so mid...

As a longtime, older gamer, but new to PS, I don't know what the purpose of the SOP is, so it's hard to set expectations accordingly. Both MS and Sony make decisions that baffle me, but regardless of the aim of the SOP, I just can't wrap my head around them not mentioning the FREE Astro Bot DLC that was about to drop the next day!

Xbox made a lot of mistakes, but their developer directs are now spot on, 3 or 4 games, proper deep dive and they're games coming out SOON!

Switch do third party directs, and that's what this SOP largely felt like to me.

SOP was a rather soulless slideshow of 3rd party games, all rather impersonal... I love how Yoshiaki Koizumi presents the Nintendo directs

just played through it, the same level that was shown recently on that competition. took a few mins to get back into the swing of Astro Bot! So these are time attack levels where you just have to finish to get the bot and the trophy.

@LogicStrikesAgain fair, though I'd rather 4 or 5 top titles than a load of whatever they can get their hands on, and most of those (17?) are multi plat are they not? I suppose Xbox excuse for 3rd party games is, they're relevant if coming to gamepass?

@ChrisDeku Not quite what Xbox do now, there most recent couple of developer directs were great, and highlighted games coming out in the next quarter, pretty much

Love the Lakes, and studied this disaster at uni, and love Fallout, so looking forward to this a lot!

PS4 digital version regularly goes on sale for £13.99, so £24 isn't too bad if you've never played the game before (assuming you can't buy a cheapo physical copy)

@nomither6 can't buy them for my ps5 though, and don't do the subscriptions, so not an option sadly. hopefully a collection comes out soon

@HonestHick a rare game that I immediately wanted to restart and play again, it's just fun personified

forza confirmed and gears / halo strongly rumoured. if those 3 come across, they will port anything and everything if they think it'll make them money

10/15, almost all guesswork though, as rift apart last month was my first ever game, but adored it, so have now picked up the 2016 game to play this month.

really, REALLY thought this wasn't for me. But after my friend got it yesterday, and screen shared the first few hours to my PS5 last night, I'm now getting very tempted to try it.

my mate picked it up and is playing it, and streaming it to my PS5 and I'm really enjoying watching him play it. still not sure it's for me, but it's clearly a very good game

I'm a little confused, I thought this was supposed to be quite a grounded game, that's what every preview I've read has said. Then you casually throw this into the review:

"Demons, ghosts, dragons, magical objects like the powerful Thunderstone or the mysterious bezoar, artefacts said to have had contact with Jesus Christ himself"

I have found countless sites that specifically say there are no dragons, etc. But you say there are dragons, ghosts, etc?

really wasn't a fan of the later gears games, but a polished up Marcus Fenix trilogy with a horde mode with maps from all 3 games with cross-play would be amazing. really hope this is true.

played FH2-5, inc DLC, to death on my XSX, and loved them. But will probably wait for FH6 before buying on my PS5 (but it'll be tempting!!). Would have bought it if it was FH4, which was my fave, UK bias obviously!

I have FH2, 3, 4 and 5 on XSX, this is my favourite MS franchise, and I'll 100% be double dipping for this on PS5

If you're remotely interested and haven't played it, you're really in for a treat. Uber polished game.

I wouldn't pay £70 for anything, purely as I have lots of games to play already, and everything goes on sale eventually...

But I don't buy the argument that games are getting more expensive, they have been incredibly resistant to inflation, sadly a pint of lager has not. Games (accounting for inflation) cost a lot more when my folks were getting me N64 games for birthday / Xmas!

@ThomasHL 100% this. Helldivers 2 was enough for a bunch of my friends to grab a PS5

I have been Xbox since the 360, over 100 digital games library accumulated. Yet I got a PS5 last year because of the exclusive games... I know reddit isn't the best barometer of the wider gaming community, but have seen so many posts and comments from other XSX owners who have jumped to PS5 because of the GAMES.

People WILL switch consoles / buy a second console for games. It doesn't matter how big a library they have built up. Exclusives sell consoles. I really think Xbox have got this very badly wrong.

@UK_ around 480h for me over two characters, I absolutely loved it, and once it comes across to PS5 and people actually give it a chance, I'm sure opinion will soften a little.

In the United Kingdom, Nintendo 64 games were priced £54.95 (equivalent to almost £130 in 2024) at release, so as an older gamer who had an N64, I have paid a lot more than $100 for games before...

I am still having so much fun with Helldivers 2, but agree with the sentiments above. As a long time gamer but recent switch from XSX to PS5, I have enough first party games on my Wishlist to last this out, for the rest of you, you'll be playing all those first party Microsoft games I've been enjoying the last few years!

Regardless of where the games come from, 2025 is looking crazy stacked with great releases, so I doubt anybody will be sat at home twiddling their thumbs.

As a lifelong Sega / Nintendo / Xbox player, and recent (PS5) Sony boy, you PS only players are in for a bloody treat if/when MCC / Gears / etc come across. Some truly incredible games

@DonkeyFantasy Day 5 on Gamepass Ultimate, as only 1 of the 3 Gamepass tiers has this function.

the clip above doesn't exactly sell it though, haha! Really fun, multi player melee game, bit like smash bros but all the characters are animals that control like they are on horse tranquillisers

Played this a fair bit on xbox at house parties. It is incredibly fun but stupid. But fun
