@Max_the_German Yet Skyrim has sold more, is played more and is also considered one of the best games of all time. Dark Souls being the best of the decade is just an opinion a vaild one but nothing more especially when said decade also has The Witcher 3, Bloodborne, Breath of the Wild, Red Dead 2, Nier Automata and so on.

@Judal27 Its not Skyrim type combat its way more complicated and harder then that and the biggest wall many new players face with the games. You can't just grab the best sword and start hacking away as you will die fast to the lowest peasant in the game and if you dare to decide to face multiple enemies at once well the odds won't favour you 😅. In fact sucking at combat is even woven into the story as Henry the lead character is just a humble blacksmith's son and doesn't know how to fight at all in the first game. His skill and your skill at combat kinda grow together.

Atomfall isn't even an open world.

@Judal27 Deep well written stories and characters and side quests that could easily pass as main quests. Plus its pretty great living a pretty mundane simple medieval life when you're not doing the story stuff. Helps the games are extremely immersive and suck you in.

Its 2nd on my list. Way too low on the list.

@somnambulance For me Metroid Dread and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown are the best of the genre of the past 10 or so years though i do agree the Ori games are high up there.

@somnambulance We're see but frankly imo Silksong is just more Hollow Knight with nothing new added and nothing improved or fixed its just HK under a new skin and HK has been bettered many times since. Silksong in a lot of ways is actually worse then HK imo because it gets off being more tedious and wasting your time more. God knows how it took them this long to make the game.

@somnambulance The game isn't hard its just really tedious and monotonous. Its easily one of the most metrovanies out there and has learnt nothing in the years since Hollow Knight. It was originally an expansion to HK and those origins are painfully obvious. Its not a bad game far from it but if it was something new from a new indie dev and wasn't connected to HK no one would give a damn about it. Give it 2 years i expect "let's face it Silksong was kinda mediocre and overhyped" will be a popular way to farm likes.

Silksong really is overrated and is carried by hype. I'm willing to bet the upcoming years won't be kind to it.

Ball X Pitt is my Indie of the year. Its utter perfection and addictive as crack.

Still in shock to be honest. Was never expecting to hear he died and just before Xmas. Really feel for his family.

Really need to start this, i got on sale but never started it.

I feel like this is going to be a weekly/daily thing where new X game faces accusations of AI. As i said before like it or not its here to stay so better get used to it.

I know Clair Obscur, Kingdom Come 2, Ball X Pitt and Ghost of Yotei are my top 4 but i'm still trying to place my 5th game. Its been a stacked year for sure and there's at least 5-6 games i could put as my 5th.

@Flaming_Kaiser Fun thing i was watching a video on Soul Caliber 3 this morning and on the PS2 there exists two game breaking bugs. One completely kills the competitive side of the game and another will just straight up corrupt and kill your save, both of these are dead easy to trigger.

See here's the thing that people like you forget patches did exist in the PS2 era its just you had to buy a new version of the game to get it. This happened often where later prints of games would have updated and fixed files. You also got to remember PS2 games were far easier to make then PS5 games shocker i know.

I will now wait until next year before i get a reply to this after i've long forgotten about it again 🙄

@HotGoomba We knew about the AI usage not long after launch. They lied to the Indie award thing not the playerbase.

@GloriosaDaisy What heavy lifting? Place holder textures got accidently left in and were then quickly patched out with the intended textures. I agree they shouldn't win this due to lying and breaking the rules but to call this "AI generated garbage" is just insanely hyperbolic as well as being completely and utterly wrong.

@GloriosaDaisy Nothing in the game is AI generated except a couple of place holder textures that were very quickly patched out for real handmade ones soon after launch.

Playing devils advocate i wouldn't be shocked if Sandfall thought because no gen AI was in the final release (except what they quickly patched out) it allowed them to considered but not understanding the rules are no gen AI full stop even if the final release is free of it.

The higher you climb the harder you fall and people do love when god bleeds.

My opinion is well is what it is and AI like it or not is not going any where. The working conditions is what i'm more interested in giving how Larian loves boasting about how saintly they are and calling out others who aren't.

Divinity 2 as its now on PS5 and was offer for £12.50. Always been meaning to play it especially after BG3 so now its on PS5 and going for such a cheap price i decided to jump on it and so far so great. Can't comment too much as i haven't played much but yeah its what i expected from Larian.

Its really cool that Todd and Bethesda are heavily involved with the show and treat it as something vital in Fallout canon.

@LazyDaisy Where have you been for the last 10 years? This has been pretty common for years now. I mean Jedi Fallen Order, Death Stranding, The Callisto Protcool, both Ghost games and hell even Nathan Drake himself is based on Nolan North's face.

@Balaam_ Yeah how dare they play to the popular trope of space fairing women being bald or the fact her actress is bald. Did you take issue with Ripley in Aliens haven't short boyish hair? Or Ripley being bald in Alien 3?

Its cringe at times and does feel more like an ad show then award show but honestly i enjoy watching it, its the closest we get to E3 and it does feel like passion and work goes into it. Geoff doesn't get enough credit for keeping things like this still going.

Its a good game but very much carried by the IP. Still its nice to see a single player game with zero MTX or even DLC do insanely well.

Self publishing is the thing that should make it an Indie but at the same time its quite that simple nowadays. Personally i wouldn't have picked E33 for best indie because of the fact it had a publisher.

It is what it is but if anyone will be ethical with it its Larian.

I'm more interested in the game then trophies to be honest.

With Arc Raiders killing it i can't see this doing well at all.

@captainsandman I will also say the game is in a fairly good state right now. Its still buggy but not game breaking and the bugs are more minor then major and performance is really good through does drop in the more busy settlement places.

So far they're doing everything right. Amazon are clearly going all in with Tomb Raider and i'm all for it.

@captainsandman The big engine upgrade isn't until next year.

Here's what i can see from official sources and the trailers. The return of older more experienced Lara, a return of a snarky cocky Lara, a return of Duel Pistols, a return of more typical Lara clothing (the Underworld Wetsuit is even free if you link an Amazon account) and finally a return of actual tomb raiding and exploring lost kingdoms. So yeah its pretty clear they are going back to classic TR.

@LifeGirl The Switch 2 had the biggest console launch ever despite many of its games being ports and having Switch 1 versions. "Normies" don't pay attention to this stuff like us.
