Re: Hands On: Horizon Zero Dawn PC Is a Staggering Port, And a Potential Taste of PS5

Cybrshrk

@Dan_ozzzy189 because it is the game was Finn but from a pc perspective this pc port is not up to snuff. It's very flawed compared to others and a world where we have death stranding on pc using the same engine and the benefits it comes with.

There's nothing to say hit the port is disappointing.

To a bunch of ps4 only users it may seem game changing but I'm reality it's still quite flawed.

Re: Poll: Would You Still Pay for PS Plus if Online Multiplayer Was Free Elsewhere?

Cybrshrk

I played maybe 10 games on ps4 this gen worth it and I would say the same or close to it on Xbox.

The Xbox ones may not have all been massive blockbuster story driven stuff like God of War or horizon zero dawn but all in all I would say I had more fun and definitely played many of the Xbox exclusives for longer than 1 and done story games on my Playstation. I got to spend real quality time gaming with friends some games we put 100s of hours into and then there were some pretty solid story based games like gears of War 5 that even there I got to play the whole game through with my best friend right there beside me.

Do you know how many Playstation story driven games I got to play with my best friend? 0 the best we could do was talk to each other the next day about what we did the night before.

Both platforms and games have their benefits but overall I would say the Xbox games gave me just as much enjoyment (more in some ways) and definitely had a much better "value" proposition. Some of the games we got to play for just a buck and then spent a month having a blast playing together.

Never got anything like that out of Playstation for sure.

Re: PS5 Fans Are Pondering the Future of PS Plus

Cybrshrk

@Netbean like I said in above reply to another the best thing to ever happen to the gaming industry was Microsoft losing the last gen war. Ever since they fell behind they've been doing nothing but making positive changes to the industry as a whole and dragging Sony kicking and screaming into a fresh new and more open world.

I wouldn't be playing death stranding on my pc this month and horizon zero dawn in the next or being able to play war zone on my ps4 with my buddies on Xbox and the one guy who just has to have kb/m so plays on pc.
.
They may be behind in console sales but I truly believe they aren't even fighting in the same war anymore as Sony they truly transformed into a service platform and have slowly but surely dragged the rest of them forward as well.

I don't own an Xbox but I'm Xbox services fan!

Re: PS5 Fans Are Pondering the Future of PS Plus

Cybrshrk

@roe people don't get Netflix because it's the fastest place to see the newest blockbusters at home. They get it cause of the abundance of good content both of old and some newer stuff. The ever evolving library keeps things fresh and you just always know you'll find SOMETHING you're interested in. Not to mention how it opens you up to new stuff you normally wouldn't rent / buy.

This is what can and does make gamepass successful.

Re: PS5 Fans Are Pondering the Future of PS Plus

Cybrshrk

@BrainHacker read my previous replies above but this isn't about forcing people to spend more they are eliminating the cost of mp completely because in a gamepass and xcloud world it just doesn't make sense anymore. Gold will be a value service about discounts and freebies. MP will just work however you access your game. Remember they want a seamless world and a play anywhere mentality doesn't work well with additional pay walls

Re: PS5 Fans Are Pondering the Future of PS Plus

Cybrshrk

@solocapers oh you mean they should just do what Microsoft done been doing? Lol

Of course these services should be coming together they all work together and mp like Microsoft is about to show should just be a given seeing how so many of the other services intrinsically have less value if you make mp an additional cost.

No one's going to sign up for xcloud if they got to go out and buy gold on top just so they can play with their friend who stuck with Xbox.
. The whole point of something g like xcloud is to tear down barriers not add to them.

Sony will follow suit just like they did with charging for mp after Xbox.

Re: PS5 Fans Are Pondering the Future of PS Plus

Cybrshrk

@hoffa007 the problem here is you as well as the writers are assuming what you want it to be than what is more likely in that they aren't going to be forcing anything instead gold will be refocused on a discount program game pass a subscription service and xcloud a streaming program (all available together under ultimate) while MP will do live Netflix streaming once did and slide from the gold level down to silver and just be a given.

Kinda hard to sell people on a service like xcloud so they can play games on a console they don't own with their friends who do if in addition to that service you asking them to pay for another.

Re: PS5 Fans Are Pondering the Future of PS Plus

Cybrshrk

@leucocyte your mention of such program isn't just some "talk" it's absolutely real and has been around now for some time it's called Xbox all access and yes as of now it's been limited in scope but I have for a long while now since first hearing about the program along with their changes to what they call "generations" and combined with the naming scheme they chose for the system with "series". (another place where naming schemes like that is used very commonly? Mobiles)

I've basically said that they have a long term plan to evolve their platform beyond a console and much more into something akin to what Apple has done with the iPhone. Games that work up and down the stack of new and old models (with eventual cutoff points) and hardware that's upgraded on a much more regular basis something like 18-24 months all packaged with a single monthly payments and no out of pocket up front cost.

Now maybe they won't be here fully for that day 1 with the new system and we see it launch pretty much the standard way but they've laid the ground work for those initial buyers or late upgraders to be offered a choice when they buy in next time, 500 now and 15 a month or 35 a month and nothing out of pocket. With that you get the hardware you get the service you get the games and you get access from your mobile or other device via streaming. Oh you'll also get a hardware refresh and your current games will look even better 2 years from now. If you're done paying monthly no sweat keep the current hardware and it's yours to play all games until they eventually stop being supported at which point we will have a brand new even better system ready to for the same old 35 a month you've always been accustomed to.

Now come on if that doesn't sound line a deal almost any gamer could get behind.

I suspect within the next 4 years we will know for sure if this is their plan but mark it down in the history books I called it here.

Re: PS5 Fans Are Pondering the Future of PS Plus

Cybrshrk

@jays1255 I don't think most get what these move is about removing the pay wall from MP is about strengthening their goal of play anywhere. They want people to look at gold and gamepass and xcloud as values in and of themselves without it being tied to having to choose them for MP access.

It's game changing like they literally invented paying for MP access and they are about to kill it (or atleast make any service still charging for it looks kinda bad)

The other stuff will be positioned for what the value adds are for each and mp will just become a given so that they guy who gets xcloud is suddenly running into an ADDITIONAL pay wall to play the 1 game they signed up for xcloud to play with their friend.

Something along those lines.

Just like when they moved Netflix streaming from gold access only to silver (aka free) it will be something along those lines and designed to make "gold" more about its value proposition for free or discounted games.

Re: PS5 Fans Are Pondering the Future of PS Plus

Cybrshrk

@MedaXbot these guys struggle daily to find anything of substance to talk about with ps5 so they try and spin what will be a game changing move from Xbox into a possible negative (unless Sony does it too then its totally a positive!)

The best thing to happen to gaming in the last decade was Microsoft losing the Xbox one / PS4 gen ever since they fell so far behind they've been doing nothing but changing this industry for the better (dragging Sony kicking and screaming eight along with them).

I don't know if I ever want to see a day Microsoft is out front because it might be the day the industry stops improving we know Sony could be years behind and they ain't going to make the kind of revolutionary moves Microsoft has.

Re: Sony on PS5 Exclusives: We Can't Take Everyone with Us from Previous Gens

Cybrshrk

@Stocksy so why does my death stranding look and play a heck of a lot better than your version on ps4? Not to mention even way better than the guy with a pc that was just middle of the road in 2013.

The point is games have can and always will run based on the hardware they have access to and it's not TOO much more work to tune games to work on multiple spec levels.

Say what you want but my pc today can and would run circles even around your "next gen" console.

Seeing how microsoft will have not only the most powerful of the consoles but also the weakest (through support of original Xbox) and it will just go to show the ability of devs to down scale their games which they've been doing for pc now for years.

Re: PS5 Fans Thought They Were Getting a Price and Release Date Yesterday

Cybrshrk

@OscarHTX yes if you just use common knowledge that future games of big successes in the past are coming and just keep guessing dates that make logical sense of course someone's going to guess right but that just makes them really lucky and not a "source".

These people who report on their "sources" are just feeding these trolls and making me less interested in reading their "leaks". Maybe vet your "sources" a little better and only report on things from people who have been CONFIRMED industry insiders who've made solid predictions (and been RIGHT!) several times before you start spreading fud all over the internet.

Cause the minute one of you do it the rest of the lazy game sites quote you like it's fact and before you know it the ENTIRE internet KNOWS the day pre orders go live.

Re: Which SSD Drives Will Be Compatible With PS5?

Cybrshrk

@TooBarFoo yes as I said above to another fellow wanting to upgrade. The cost to do so will be prohibitively expensive for some time and not just any old nvme will be usable.

You'll need to get used to "parking" and "unparking" games quite often. But if you used a decent sized (say 2tb) external ssd with another even larger external hdd for "cold storage" it would be too terrible.

You could easily get by for several years this way and never run out of space by keeping the least played stuff on "cold storage" with ps4 titles and your other more played titles on the ssd while a few of your favorites as well as currently playing title reside on the internal.

It won't be too painful moving games in and out of "swap" and since most of your actually played titles are there you'll have quick transfer times and only need to go to the old (and much slower "cold storage" when you're really digging into your back catalog).

It would be excellent if they came up with a file system that did most of this automatically for you but I highly doubt Sony will go that far.

If I could see anyone it would be Microsoft since they already have similar technology baked into windows 10 with "storage spaces". Obviously it's not the same nor is it used in this exact manner but the idea of a central storage "pool" that's handled in the background from multiple sources is something they already do.

Re: Which SSD Drives Will Be Compatible With PS5?

Cybrshrk

@FoePlay to be clear a 970 Evo (which is what I actually use today) is "about" the speed of the Xbox series x and its "inferior" storage.

The storage required to meet the needs of the Playstation platform is going to be significantly more expensive (even in 5 months it won't reduce nearly enough to make it justified) and people will quickly learn for some time that "parking" and "unparking" games is the only viable solution.

The best anyone realistically will be able to afford to add will be an additional 1tb as I can promise you a 2 tb of that speed will be way higher than than most would want to pay (like almost as much as the system itself).

Remember Sonys tech is very "next gen" when it comes to storage and to allow drives of much lower cost (and therefore lower speeds) would instantly prove that the NEED for all that fancy "next gen" storage is really for nothing and a "regular old nvme" like the 970 Evo would have been good enough.

I'd that were true then it would prove that Microsoft storage solution makes more sense and would invalidate all the hype Sony been putting into their only leading spec.

So therefore... It ain't happening chief!

Re: PS5 Digital Edition vs Standard PS5: What's the Difference?

Cybrshrk

@SuperMarino I'm telling you friend Microsoft has been trying to change up the game for a long time and unfortunately they have usually been too far forward thinking.

If only fanboys could open their eyes and use their brains we'd all already be living in a world that today we keep begging for.

The proof is in the pudding with things like Xbox SAD and the ps5 (normal shape) lol

Kidding but still the best thing to happen in gaming this last generation is microsoft losing only because it's really made them push into radical ideas that back then they gave up on due to fear.

Today they don't fear new innovation (because they have less to lose now) and it's slowly pulled Sony kicking and screaming forward with them.

Look at what we have today because of their initiatives -

Cross play

Play anywhere

Cross gen

Smart delivery

Game pass (Xbox)

Game pass for pc

Out of their hands directly but definitely made viable by their progress and success -

Typical Playstation "exclusive" companies releasing on pc (Detroit : BH / Heavy Rain / death stranding / final fantasy vii remake / etc)

Actual Playstation first party titles (horizon zd) releasing on pc

Sony first party titles releasing on Xbox (MLB the show)

We only have all the above because Microsoft was forced to pivot after they fell behind so hard.

And it's been a great thing for the industry as a whole Woth their push towards things like cloud we already know that Sony is following them closely as they re actually partnering with Microsoft to use their technology that they been developing for years with azure and project xcloud.

I own a ps4 pro plan to buy a ps5 but I ultimately think Microsoft is the ones really pushing the industry forward and even though I don't own their hardware thanks to their great strides to open gaming up I don't have to yet I'm still fully invested in ecosystem.

Re: PS5 and 4K UHD Blu-rays: Can PlayStation 5 Play Them?

Cybrshrk

@4KKO with Sony ignoring all the money people have invested in something like atmos home theaters for sound (to save a few bucks on licensing) I highly doubt they'll be pony-ing up for the same "extras" on their blu-ray software.

We will have to see but I don't expect it at the beginning but an uodate later on down the road after people have road them long and hard for cheapening out compared to what Microsoft offers (as in full dolby atmos support for games and movies)

Re: PS5 and 4K UHD Blu-rays: Can PlayStation 5 Play Them?

Cybrshrk

@Crowley22g too be clear if you're receiver is that old it most likely doesn't support eARC and would only have access to regular ARC (locked to pcm 2.0 or bit stream standard Def dolby digital / dts)

Ask me how I know?

(hint: I'm already dealing with this stuff with my hdmi 2.1 LG OLED and my 2080ti pc)

A new receiver is likely to still be in the cards for both of us but I would still recommend going with a direct connection to your TV from your 120hz stuff as it will keep input lag and processing to a minimum and ensure all your TV's functions are properly leveraged. Then you can still connect less frame rate focused stuff through the receiver and use that connection between the two of them to do all the audio (via ACTUAL eARC on the new receiver) and delivering you full pcm 7.1 or dolby trueHD / atmos /dts-x from all devices connect to either the TV or the receiver.

Re: PS5 and 4K UHD Blu-rays: Can PlayStation 5 Play Them?

Cybrshrk

@Sidhartha if Microsoft could just have the games like Sony does they'd be absolutely killing it. Everything about their initiatives is better and more consumer focused while their hardware and software implementation is miles ahead in the ways that ACTUALLY matter to end users (like being able to use your stuff with industry standards).

Hopefully they're game output takes a better road this gen because from a platform perspective I'm all in on what they are doing but without the games I'll still be buying a ps5 over an Xbox.

At the end of the day that's what really matters most.

Re: PS5 Digital Edition vs Standard PS5: What's the Difference?

Cybrshrk

@TheAuthenticEnd

LMFAO literally what u pure asking for is what every Sony fanboy was losing their mind over Microsoft implementing in 2013 (and why the backtracked and removed it). Like for real Microsoft done tried this and yall roasted them so hard for it. Now here you are asking for it? Smh

Hey remember.... "this is how you share games on ps4" (hands physical game over) "no digital licensing here! Get outta here with that crap!!!"

Heck they were even going to allow you to "trade in" your license (basically like selling used games) but nope the internet fanboys wasn't hearing it!

We were also going to have the ability to share our games library with friends and not just "cheat" to do it with home system vs signing in. We could pick like up to 10 other people to share all our digital stuff with. We would have had it pretty good from a digital perspective. But sadly fanboys just weren't going to let it happen.

Re: Which SSD Drives Will Be Compatible With PS5?

Cybrshrk

@FoePlay

You're looking at doubling the cots of the system at minimum to have that much space. Most people will find they have to settle for adding 1tb for quite some time and it will still be 1/3 to 1/2 the systems costs (depending on what it ends up selling for) this stuff isn't like adding an ssd. Linus from LTT just added 8TB of the same similar speed stuff to his pc and it was $15,000 USD

Keep your expectations in check a system + 1 TB of PS5 storage (plus an additional drive for older ps4 games as well as a place to "park" ps5 games (say another 1tb external ssd) is about the most optimum and cost effective solution and even then.

Were talking probably close to doubling the systems price if not close to 2/3 of it.

Re: Which SSD Drives Will Be Compatible With PS5?

Cybrshrk

@dbunny slow news days and they still want clicks.

@Rmxqout you realize you're talking a lot more money for that much storage in ps5. Linus from LTT just installed similar 8tb of nvme in his pc and it was like 15,000 USD.

Keep your expectations in check is all I'm saying you'll be lucky if you can add an additional 1TB to the 825MB Included and it WILL cost probably a third or more of the systems selling price, if not closer to half, to do so.

Re: Unravel Horizon Zero Dawn's Mysteries from 7th August on PC

Cybrshrk

And not to be a jerk about it but I could see them bringing this version to ps5 (though with many of the settings removed or turned down) but don't expect them to provide or to you as just some free "patch" like Microsoft is doing they most certainly will be selling it as Horizon Zero Dawn :"the definitive (console) version"

The best you can hope for is a discount for previous owners.

Re: Unravel Horizon Zero Dawn's Mysteries from 7th August on PC

Cybrshrk

@H4ilHydra yea man I mean before last week HZD was the only game I ever platinumed and the minute I saw it on steam I ordered it again (I never got to play the frozen wilds so it will even be some new stuff for me). It's going to amazing to get to play it in its full glory on my ultra high end pc. 120fps is game changing!

Sony users are coming across as entitled little brats and are literally whining because they are scared the pc is going to show off their games better than they can (duh!).

It's literally like they feel an actual emotional connection to their consoles in an unhealthy way and they really need to remember these companies aren't they dad uncle or their best friend. They are a business whose sole purpose is to be as successful as they can be. Trust me that selling your games on 2 platforms is almost always guaranteed to sell more copies than of stuck to 1.

Re: Unravel Horizon Zero Dawn's Mysteries from 7th August on PC

Cybrshrk

@keihtg I've spent more money and time with Xbox gaming since they opened up then I had in the last 7 years before they hadn't.

I'm fully invested in Xbox with over 3 years of game pass ultimate bought and paid for through 2022. The fact that I don't need to own their box (which to be honest with new ones would be a negative income for them) is even better because they still get me spending money on the parts that's most profitable (services).

It's a win win for them and they get to route massive users numbers as well.

Trust that in 10 years both Sony and Microsoft will be doing much more business like this and we will all look back and say how weird it was when you couldn't play games so easily wherever you wanted.

Microsoft did this for us and changed the game just like Netflix people won't even realize it until we're already knee deep in it.

Re: Unravel Horizon Zero Dawn's Mysteries from 7th August on PC

Cybrshrk

@TheDude89 lol all you Sony fanboys losing it over your precious "exclusives" coming to pc are just really looking quite shallow and envious. As a long time gamer an all 4 platforms I'm always excited to see games available in more places and don't do the "fanboi" over reacting when I hear a game ive already played (which I did in ps4 pro in 2017) is getting re-released and dressed up to be an even better experience elsewhere. I'm pumped for it and probably will even re-buy the title to enjoy it in its full glory at 4k/120 fps (yes I'll be very close if not at this type nof playback my pc is currently a 10900k and waiting on whatever the next tier top gpu will be). Even with all that power and freedom it doesn't make me hate on a title when it's not immediately available for pc day 1 (but thanks Microsoft for being the awesome company you are and doing so) and if I REALLY want to play it now I'll buy it even if it's on a weaker console.

Great thing is Microsoft's moves are finally catching sonys attention and they're wising up which will hopefully mean more and more titles start to come to pc and that the exclusivity window gets smaller and smaller (it will).

Death stranding was only months and HZD maybe 3 years but I expect the next one may end up closer to 2 and eventually within 1 (when regular pc is well beyond ps5) and by the end of the generation I full expect Sony to embrace the pc as the sister platform that it is.

Meanwhile I'll still be supporting everyone whether that's through consoles services or games.

In the end of the day everything but games is just a path for them to get said games in front of you. Its always been and always will be about the game revenue.

Glad Sony is finally realizing there's plenty of money to be made over here as well.

Re: Ratchet & Clank PS5 Surpasses 2016 Movie, Runs in Native 4K with Ray Tracing

Cybrshrk

You would think if push square is going to brag about the system FINALLY being able to do 4k (the real kind) and using digital foundry as a source as to why this is good. You could at least mention the other part of their comments about how it's unfortunately still running at 30 fps (and even less at times) even though the same game series was at 60 fps previously and was absolutely adored in its time.

Re: Ratchet & Clank PS5 Surpasses 2016 Movie, Runs in Native 4K with Ray Tracing

Cybrshrk

@Facelord you call them Nvidia shills and then immediately prove your just a upset amd fanboy.

Your little Navi cards are EOL already not being able to even support the features of dx12 ultimate. Argue all you want but just like how my 7700k wold 3 weeks ago for $300 (and originally only coating $350 back 3 years ago) the Nvidia cards will maintain their value much better and future support of newer features little Navi will NEVER support. My buddy thought things like yih when he built his pc 3 years ago with a 1800x instead of my choice of Intel 7700k and yet he spent 3 years with weaker gaming performance that (unlike his original thought) never got better and stayed behind the whole time. He too wants to upgrade now but where he laid $500 for his chip at the same time I bought mine he can't even get someone to give him $150 now for his (while again my original $350 chip just sold for $300 less than a month ago).

The baby Navi chips are going to be the least desirable "recent" gpu on the used market when everyone is expecting all the tech that those chips can and never will support.

Re: Ratchet & Clank PS5 Surpasses 2016 Movie, Runs in Native 4K with Ray Tracing

Cybrshrk

@Carl-G you'd be better off with a LG OLED instead Sony isn't even supporting full hdmi 2.1 support on their models this year. Only LG and their oleds can offer you ever feature of the next generation of television today. All the other brands and making you choose to have and lose certain features. 4k/120 fps with variable refresh rate and and Auto low latency mode along with eARC and on all 4 ports.

Re: Sony on PS5 Fan Noise: 'A Great Deal of Effort' Has Gone into Making PS5 Quieter than PS4

Cybrshrk

@pip_muzz the space underneath is just an Aesthetics compromise made because Sony had to rethink their design to get a disc drive attached (it's pretty obvious the digital only was the core design language and the disc drive was added to it).

It will have little to no benefit when it comes to cooling that side of the system is still solid plastic and has no venting power whatsoever it will even perform worse in this position as the system was physically designed to be stood up as it's hoping to use convection cooling (aka heat rises) as a way to increase its cooling capacity.

Laying down it will have little to no convection cooling and the heat will still rise and get stuck up against the left side panel and roll across the tip over to the right to hopefully eventually get pushed out of what's a very thin and very 90° exit.

Re: Sony on PS5 Fan Noise: 'A Great Deal of Effort' Has Gone into Making PS5 Quieter than PS4

Cybrshrk

@Abdessgal no what amd smart shift really does it have a set power limit between the cpu and gpu and when one isn't being pushed it can share its power for more performance with the other.

What we will end up with if they keep the system quiet is one that's being limited by thermals and therefor runs at the lower clocked speeds of its specs when it could be running higher and faster but isn't for the sake of audible "performance".

The design absolutely guarantees they are making a sacrifice SOMEWHERE to keep things working in q design that Steve with gamers nexus would absolutely rip to shreds for expecting air to flow well through what is obviously highly constrained ventilation.

Air does NOT like to flow around 90° corners it will obviously but will require more pressure (ie fan speed and noise) to move the same volume of air as if it would were straight and open.

Re: PS5's First Batch of Titles Appear to Deliver the Native 4K Dream

Cybrshrk

Obviously 4k/60 SHOULD be where they are targeting but I understand with some limitations on their power even with optimizing on the low level stuff they just can't push that in high demanding games. But what should have been sacrificed is resolution (via dynamic res and or checkerboarding) not frame rate. 30 fps just isn't acceptable in 2020 especially at full 4k, if you have the power to do 4k just don't do that and direct that power to getting the fps up to where it should be. If your console can't do this then maybe you need to rethink your priorities in your design.

The last Gen was already seeking full 4k (on Xbox one x) or at the least "fake 4k" on ps4 pro) the only thing that was missing was the cpu power to push the fps beyond the (it was always said to be the cpu that was holding us back from 60fps).

Well we have that power now and to not use it in this way is foolish and really makes the leap to the next gen feel kinda pointless the graphics aren't REALLY going to improve too much between the two and a bump is res is the hardest thing to really see whereas the moment you switch everything to 60 fps or beyond people instantly "get it".

I'm currently playing through last of us "remastered" on my pro and I keep playing with the display settings and though I have a hard time seeing the difference between a lot of it the moment I go to the settings that lock the fps to 30 fps (even at 2160p) it feels absolutely miserable.

I'd take 1080p/60 over 4k/30 and I find the 1800p/60-ish mode to be the best choice.

Things like this MUST be an option if you're going to still be stubborn and push for 4k/30fps gaming.

If a game ONLY does 30 fps there's a good chance I'll just skip it. I get physically ill when I have to use it and I don't think I should have to go through that discomfort in 2020.

Re: PS5's First Batch of Titles Appear to Deliver the Native 4K Dream

Cybrshrk

@NotSmartEnough true but they also pointed many negatives as well including sub 30 fps frame rates multiple times.

Also the ssd though impressive I do not think the effects shown wouldn't be possible with a standard ssd but definitely not with a hdd.

The demo where they were flying through multiple worlds seems more like "on rails" cinematic vs actual gameplay and in the gameplay portion when they "teleported" it was more like a super fast travel vs literally going to a separate world. Like in the on rails part. I am glad to see that it still shied signs of actual loading (with the slight hitching between transitions) but I don't think it wouldnt be something a dev designing a game from the ground up with a 2.5-3.5gbps level device wouldn't be able to do.

Time will tell but I have a strong feeling we will see similar "tricks" commonplace on Xbox within a short time. The difference between a hard drive and a ssd is massive and once devs can't always rely on having at least that they will be able to ndo things they've never done before. The difference through between the 2 ssd's (say pci-e 3.0 3000gb/s vs pci-e 4.0 5000gb/s drives) is marginal at best as once you get to these speeds what took 30 seconds on hard drive is now 2 and the extra fast drive will only bring that down to maybe 1.

Yes its faster but it doesn't mean its doing anything that the other won't be able to do rather closely to the same (maybe the slight hitching seen in the demo is slightly longer) that kind of thing.

Re: Yes, the PS5 Can Be Placed On Its Side

Cybrshrk

@Vix yes I'd give them props if only they could hear me screaming over the ps4 pro they built for me in 2017.

But sure "props" least of they thing starts to melt you won't really notice. With its already "curved" design.

Re: Talking Point: Did the PS5 Games Reveal Event Meet Your Expectations?

Cybrshrk

I found it to all be rather disappointing and the only game that "looked" like it would REQUIRE next gen (instead of cross gen) was ratchet with all that quick teleporting but it felt kinda "canned" so even then it might not be as impressive as it looked.

Gran turismo 7 still shows LOD pop in and makes the idea of a "next gen ssd" seem a bit like marketing fluff.

Most of what was showed looks very much at home in ps4 or Xbox one x.

And that's the problem with Sony's plans the 2 years that Microsoft will support cross gen the games that will be "exclusive" on ps5 won't be any better than what can be done on the previous gen.

This presentation just pretty much confirmed it.

I also highly doubt most of these titles will be at 60fps they went with 30 fps for more than streaming reasons.

As for the console itself. Well it looks like no other console before it but I don't know if that's a good thing.

As far as thermals I see why Sony went with variable specs because this thing will not be able to run at max the majority of the time. Or it will be screaming like a banshee.

Steve at gamers nexus could tear the air flow design apart and point out why it's so inferior to the open air flow design of the Xbox series x.

Ill still buy one (I buy all of them) but to me this presentation just confirmed many of the thoughts I was already beginning to worry about.

The only thing left that Sony really has going for me is their first party AAA titles and even then I'm not interested in ratchet or demon souls.

Really only Horizon and resident evil 8 spoke to me and one of those ill be playing on my much more powerful gaming PC.

I just feel so bad for the Sony fanboys who are staying in full denial that Sony is up selling them on snake water.

Xbox series x and and Xbox one x will prove that this NEED for a next gen hard line in the sand is unnecessary as well not to mention they are just making sure they can resale you the same games over and over and not offering you any kind of "smart delivery" type system.

Then they go and copy Microsoft on an all digital system and though before Sony famys were tearing Microsoft up for making a "SAD" system and ur they are now eating it up acting like nits the best thing since sliced bread.

The system is ugly at full function and the digital edition just proves they really needed a bigger box and they have squeezed it in which with their closed off nature of the design cooling will be stressed.

Microsoft design points to an ability to keep its performance at max (and why they went with fixed clocks) and Sony's design screams a need to down throttle.

@tatsumi we definitely need the digital foundry analysis I don't think people will truly understand the lower performance of the Consoles with all their "next gen" promises.

I still don't see them coming close to setups like mine that are already doing 4k/60 across the board and in many titles up to 120 fps and that's before I upgrade my gpu (2080ti) that I have had for 2 years.

The 3080 ti or whatever the next big boy will be called makes the "insane" consoles looks a little more in their lane.

A small jump and maybe a few more 60fps games bit except many to stick to the pseudo 4k "cinematic" (aka 30 fps) modes we've become accustomed to this gen. Just a little prettier.

Overall nothing amazing and will be 4 or more years before the titles really start blowing people away. And that proves again why Microsofts plans make much more sense for the consumer.

I'm going to buy one but I hate how much Sony really takes advantage of their fan base.

I wish they were smarter and would honestly take Sony to task over these shortfalls.

@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L when it comes to power comparison there is only one measurement that matters.

Where can I play this particular game that on both systems at its best?

Exclusives really don't have anything to do with power. You either want to play their games and will accept them as they are or you don't.

The only place comparison is really allowed in power is the cross platforms.

I have a hard time thinking we won't see a reversal of the early days of pw4/Xbox one when it comes to this.

Xbox - "play (3rd party game) at its best only with Xbox" "the only place to play (x) at true 4k/60" etc etc.
