The poll and all the comments above pretty much prove Sony right to continue pushing PC and shrinking that delay window as much as possible.
Even within a "hardcore" community like this majority are staying put no matter what and the casuals it would be way way higher.
Get the games to day one so that the PC guys are more interested and you will end up selling more copies without any significant loss on the other side.
The biggest reason some of these games haven't been a huge success on PC is because of the delay and as we've seen when there is no delay, the hype and fomo catches a ton of people and we see massive successes like helldivers 2.
The same can happen for their big SP releases and the sales gained would not for the most part just be sales lost on the console.
Because as we see players are pretty much set in where and why they game where they do.
The reality is PC gamers are fickle and they don't want your sloppy seconds 2 years later Especially at full price.
They will either need to drop their prices significantly or more realistic close the two between console and PC releases as the hype dies down quick and PC players just have too many other options to worry about some game that most played years ago.

Helldivers 2 shows what happens when you release a game to them at the exact same time as the console and when they hype is huge and they know they are getting the exact same treatment as their console counterparts...they show up and Sony is only losing money by not doing more to close this gap.
No you're not convincing PC players to buy a console to play the next game they simply won't play it as they've shown here.
Again the novelty has much more interested early on but those days are past and PC players expect more from Sony at this point and won't except being treated as 2nd class citizens.
If console players don't want to see the size and quality of 1st party games diminish Sony needs the investment from PC so start treating them like they should be treated and everyone wins!
@LordBakemono is it really "an update" of its already released and part of the actual download of the game come launch day?
I downloaded jedi survivor on day 1 and had ZERO "updates" of any size to grab whatever "patching" they had done was done BEFORE release day and the game as of launch and didn't have any updates to do.... It's not like my download for the game went from "game size" to "game size + 50gb update"
@Anthony_Daniels not me I've been paying on average about $80 a year for my GP ULTIMATE for nearly 3 years with almost 3 more bought and paid for moving forward.
GP is ALWAYS on sale somewhere and if you time your yearly buy to around black friday it's super cheap then.
@GamingFan4Lyf all it takes is playing 2 games and it's worth it and at 3 it's really becoming a "value" argue all you like but no one is ONLY playing the one game all year everyday all day and many would likley be glad to spend the same as befote but have access to tons of more games they can play with no real "risk" of wasting money.
I've played dozens of games I'd never have tried because of Gamepass some sucked some were good and some are now among my favorites ever.
@TheCollector316 the only thin Sony is waiting for is for Xbox to do all the work and get it "right" so they can then copy them like they do with so many other services.
@JJ2 sorry but the reason it got "swept under the rug" isn't some mystery or big injustice.
The game gave up much of what made it great for overly grindy gameplay introduced to push greedy micro transactions.
From not being able to sell used cars to the fact that cars that used to cost a max of maybe $5 bucks in the previous game were now going for $20+ each some even MUCH higher.
They made sure the grind would push many towards these overtly over priced mtx and made sure you'd get NOTHING in return if you picked the wrong one.
That's not to mention the fact that the presentation of racing itself (not all the OTHER stuff where you're not actually driving) was quite bland and sterile.
And no it wasn't a "realism" issue as games like assetto are even MORE realistic without that feeling of being completely bland and stiff.
I played it for a week or two but once I realized just how bad it was and how much the mtx system was absolute greed.... Back it went to Amazon.
Maybe forza will finally be the game that nails the super impressive graphics WITH great gameplay that dances that line of being somewhat Sim but with some style.
@KidBoruto of course Sony is pulling this stuff yet again! Making the ability to get "in" on the deal determined by if you've given them enough money ahead of time to deserve it.
The "tax" for being a Playstation player this generation is truly getting out of hand!
@Bluetrain7 this $10 dollars gets you a full game without ANY strings attached nor any other prior purchase required.
. There's a HUGE difference here between this optional full game purchase and Sony literally making you pay extra to play YOUR new game purchase using the FULL power of the console you ALSO just gave them $400-500+ for....
Please don't even try to make like these two things are even remotely the same.
@Robocod you joke but I honestly wouldn't put it past Sony and Rockstar to do something like this to make sure they only ones able to take advantage of the deal are those that ACTUALLY have a ps5 in hand now.... Sony this gen has yet to not let me down when it comes to pricing.
@Richnj full warranty is honored by Sony always and the day if purchase and it's "proof" was locked in the moment it was bought by the scalper. So long as they give you the receipt you essentially ARE the original purchaser and have all options including returning available to you.
Yea it sucks to buy from some scalper but don't act like the systems are somehow "inferior" in terms of protections.
@gamer_since_83 a LOT of the salt coming at this year's release was not there before a couple weeks ago while I'm fully aware some have truly been done with cod even before that the sales numbers tell the truth and many who act "done" definitely aren't or at least weren't until MS announcement.
@Thelegend159 and that's exactly why I'm pumped they are coming to game pass now I get to play a bunch of cool stories I skipped and not spend a penny more.
My gp subs paid in full for next 3 years (and I keep it pretty much at 3 years always) just blew up in terms of value.
@Deljo yea I'm always down to play the single player experiences especially from IW... I'll be sure to check it out once it's on game pass for sure along with all the others I've skipped over the years.
@klog60 hey while yes I'm aware the cable does in fact work as a ultra high speed cable (I have one myself) the labeling on the cable is the level it was certified at... Many cables offer performance above their actual labeled certification.
The labeling isn't "wrong" they just happen to know its enough.
Hate to be that guy but for over a 18 months been telling all the blind Sony loyalists here that what Microsoft was doing was truly game changing and I'll I heard back was how "Sony isn't too g to try and market upgrade system as some selling point like ms is with smart delivery.... But it will be just as good !" Then once they realized day 1 how exactly it wasn't "just as good" it became an argument of value meanwhile xbox continued over and over to prove the real "value" was in doing right by your customers heck many of the 3rs party games on Sony machine were even doing better for Sony customers than Sony.
Now here we are after a year of half a##ed upgrade systems with convuluted paths and constantly milking of extra costs while also doing their d@mndest to make sure you take no shortcuts on their ever winding difficult road to just playing your games in the best way possible with a $500 box you already bought off them. (if you were even so lucky)
Sony has truly proven that you can stay on top too long and lose sight of what got you there in the first place.
I really hope a lot of you Sony only fans are paying attention.
Me personally I learned long ago Sony isn't my friend and I should only ever invest into their ecosystem as little as I can whole still getting to to play their obviously great exclusives.
But I put my money where my mouth is and I'm fully paid up through 2024 with game pass ultimate and play any game I can on my Xbox or pc.
For Sony titles I buy them on disc and typically sell them off when I'm done. Which is smart because unlike with Xbox whose one game is good for the future of upgrades with Sony I'm likley going to be forced to buy it again in a couple years or forced into some convuluted upgrade system that still costs me money.
Sony has one thing going for them and and yet they think that gives them carte Blanche to do anything they want.
More people need to remind them that's not how you stay #1.
@The_Moose it may not be a "gun to the head" but as I WANT to speak with my wallet and not support the extra $10 upgrade and only buy the PS4 version of iki Island expansion yet NO where on my ps5 or from inside my ps4 version of the original game on my ps5 can I chose to get JUST the PS4 iki island expansion
The ONLY option anywhere on the console is the $29.99 version... So it may not be a "gun to the head" but it's close enough to say they pulling some very shady practices and I for one and NOT on with it.
@Neverwild bs... Sony (the hardware manufacturer and OWNER of this studio could EASILY off set the extra cost of the "work" done by these developers whose game (and this extra content they create is going to drive at least some to want to spend the $400-500 for the system to play it on.
Sony has already said how the systems already profitable and we KNOW they buy and create studios (and pay them to drive more growth of the buying of said hardware).
So there absolutely no reason to act like the devs would have to do this work for free. They would absolutely still get paid and the "cost" to Sony would only he a marginal increase to their "marketing" spend.
Don't try to act like this is some lowly independent development studio just trying to survive and could benefit from some extra funds.
NONE of the extra spend here is going to the actual devs who did the work it's straight going into Sonys piggy bank.
@The_New_Butler Sony has already burned me too much for me to support them fully... Like you I own all the consoles and even have a very high end pc ( 3080ti / 10900k 8tb of ssd / nvme and 24tb of hdd along with full custom water cooling).
Money ISN'T the issue. It's respecting me as a customer/fan.... And they just don't.
They haven't for a long time and it's why I ONLY play the must play 1st party games on their systems and NOTHING else.
I also started in the last year or so just buying them day 1 beating / platinuming them followed quickly buy selling them off at nearly what I paid for them.
I won't let Sony profit a penny more than I have to if they are going to continue to act like just because they DIDN'T screw up like MS last go round that they are in Infallible.
I pay for their overpriced hardware because I have to but I don't have to give them anything much beyond that and whenever I can I won't.... Not til they start seeing their fans as anything other than a cow to milk.
@FX102A when I a consumer who has the right to choose to support or not support this practice are FORCED to take the upgrade along with the expansion (when I bought the PS4 version and have the PS4 version installed and yet when I TRY to go buy the PS4 only expansion it's no where to be found on the store from my ps5 (only the $29.99 version and NOTHING else) then yes I have a right to complain.
I want to speak with my wallet and Sony will not let me!
@bpomber the "work" put into the iki island expansion is absolutely "worth" the asking cost of $20 but the "work" put into the barley anything upgrades of the "ps5 version is NOT worth 50% of the cost if the expansion itself. It's literally some haptics and instead of pre rendered cut scenes they let them run real time (and not even at a better frame rate like 60 but still locked to the pre rendered cut scenes 30 fps).
They also (the cut scenes) look worse in some regards.
There's no way the "value" is appropriate between the two.
Not to mention this is a SONY 1ST PARTY studio who GREATLY benefits from the people buying the new hardware (vs 3rd party studios making things like final fantasy 7 and metro exodus upgrades who literally make NOTHING from more people owning Sony hardware).
Yet THEY can go out of there way to reward their customers who just dropped a ton of money on new hardware and experience their games even better than before?
Lmao... anyone who see this as anything other than a cash grab from a company whose lost touch from being put in front too long is just billboarding their fanboy colors.
@The_Moose yea except for the fact that I WANT to NOT buy the extra ps5 version and yet I'm FORCED to if I try to buy just the PS4 version from my ps5 (which has the PS4 version already installed on).
Sony won't even let me speak with my wallet here its total bs!
Worse of all they don't even allow you to buy the PS4 only version on ps5 and try to force you to buy the 50% more expensive version only!
I'm TRYING to make a point to them that while I think the expansion is worth $20 I DO NOT think that I should be 59% more just for haptics and real-time cut scenes (vs pre rendered on ps4).
Heck in some ways the ps5 version cut scenes look WORSE (and they still lock them to 30fps so it's not line they run better or something).
Sony really is truly telling their fans that "we own you and there's nothing you can do about it".
@zekepliskin And when players compare spending 15 bucks to play through the latest halo or fallout doom or whatever without even needing to buy a console or anything more than a smart TV or firestick etc it becomes a no brainer.
There's a TON of gamers out in the world beyond the typical hardcore console / pc player and Microsoft plans to offer them something they can't get with their typical browser or mobile game.
Console will always be king for players like us but we aren't the biggest piece of the pie there is to earn.
Not to mention how many xbox fans don't even need to own their "box" to be fully in the ecosystem.
I sold my Xbox one in 2016 and I don't own a xbox now but that's because don't have to.... And that's a huge win in my and many others favor.
What I do have is game pass ultimate bought and paid for next 3 years and have had that for previous 3 years as well.
Meanwhile my ps5 hasn't seen a minute of play since the first weekend of ratchet and clank.. I got the platinum that Sunday and sold the game to a buyer in Craigslist on Monday.
I own a Playstation for one reason and one reason only their solid first party titles but that's maybe 1-3 a year and with most being one and done story games I usually by them on disc and sell them when I'm done.
Sony offers me nothing that makes me want to "stay" in the ecosystem (in fact I desperately want out) and what little money I have to put in I do my best to get it back.
No ps now sub, no ps + (normally), if I get it it'd only for a month sporadically when something requires it that I want to participate in.
Xbox meanwhile has my wallet saved and ready to go at all times (figuratively) I'm constantly trying new games or jumping back in to something I really enjoyed in the past and I don't have to fret about whether any of them are worth it (unlike the 70 USD I had to spend to play a weekend of ratchet and clank)
Sony is slowly winning me over on their support of pc and I've bought every exclusive they've moved over there day one (on steam with no intention / way to beat and refund / sell) but they are still to slow for my liking and I'll continue to give in and play their overpriced games on their inferior hardware (compared to my 3080ti / 10900k pc) but I'll do it for the absolute least amount of money out of my pocket by doing absolutely nothing with their console I can do elsewhere and playing the must haves on disc amd selling for most my money back as soon as I finish them.
@zekepliskin when are people going to stop quoting "ps5 has sold more hardware than xbox" as an excuse that that means they are doing better?
I think growth, revenue and recurring active users is much more important measure.
After all hardware was only ever sold (for little profit or even a loss) as a way to allow them to sell you games or services for significantly more profits.
Microsoft is playing the long game and have been for sometime their strategies are paying off. You only have to look so far as to how they live rent free in so many playstation "fans" thoughts.
Netflix was looking pretty foolish pushing towards a streaming only service and we see how that went and can look back even further when blockbuster and the typical rental market laughed at their idea of sending dvds in the mail on a subscription service.
"Lol they can't even charge late fees and or sell overpriced drinks and candy how do they think they'll ever succeed"
A blockbuster rep who had the chance to merge with them early on.
Microsofts plans are working exactly how they want them to they are building a building goodwill and a mindset of "why not" by making their software available however or where ever you want.
@Constable_What and see? A normal very rational explication of why POSSIBLY they may have found issues with gun combat... All of you rushing to be like "it's great ...go try making a decent game xbox!" really sound like a bunch of defensive little children.
There is OBVIOUSLY something left to be desired with GUN combat in naughty fog titles most of you are saying it's fine eo While also trying to explain away why it's not.
The game can be amazing in every regard and still have just ok gun combat that is a possibility.
And these people not" xbox" expressed their feelings on it.
Heck i have the platinum in the game and enjoyed it for the most part but I could easily see where they are coming from and agree.
After spending some time with titanfall 2 again this weekend I'm reminded of why truly satisfying gun combat is so important.
I also realized why I haven't really enjoyed any other shooter outside of destiny 2 since.
Nothing (not even cod) can come close to the perfection that is titanfall 2 gun play.
And again TLOU2 isn't titanfall 2 it doesn't even have to come close but the point is that theirs satisfying gun play and then there's just passable.
TLOU2s works but only just enough and it goes beyond "trying to be relatisic" to the characters involved.
@solocapers when the competition is offering the kind of value they are building its easy for those on the other side to start looking at their own dealt hand a little more closely.
@deathaxe meanwhile it won't touch any game from ps3 or before and now they are not only preventing you from playing those games on their current box but eliminating those stores and the ability to ever get those games ever again....
@Robocod Xboxs storage costs can always remain competitive with Sonys options too though (that's not without saying that Microsoft may enable even more partners in the future to make the drives) but I'm general even with only the one partner the tech used inside is cheaper overall and with stiff competition Microsoft I'm sure will be ready to adjust pricing down to match whatever options become cheaper with Playstation 5.
They have more headroom to play with is what I'm saying so staying competitive for additional storage should be easy for them if they so choose.
My reason for preferring their soltuon over ps5 is that if all things else remain roughly equal the Xbox solution is a faster more user friendly device installation and with hit swappable nature of it could be a huge benefit to those with massive game libraries.
@BansheeNorn we've always knowing games must be PLAYED from internal storage (including when they release models of nvme that you can add inside). The problem is they promised they would have SOME options by launch and they won't and they also mentioned STORING games externally (though again no way to play them from the external just store it) but we find now at launch we won't be able to do that either.
The facts are the Playstation storage overall has little benefit so far (it loses to Xbox in testing so far) and comes with many caveats that the Xbox simply doesn't have.
Xbox can store their games on externals doesn't matter the speed their games are just as big and they'll move to whatever usb 3.0 storage you attach (be it a hard drive or ssd) won't matter which you won't be playing the games from it and that's OK and the point.
It's there as a backup cold storage / archive purpose and a must have necessity when actual usable storage is even less than their competitor.
Heck even the Xbox series s storage solution is at this point better they may have less space but they have quick resume they also have up to 30% smaller Game files AND they can freely move any games not being played to an external for quick swapping back in later if needed.
@SJBUK echo chambers are how things like Trump becoming president happen.
If you want to live in a bubble go ahead but Dont try and stifle people who are passionate about a product being angry that it's failed them in numerous ways.
@vapidwolf still even if twice as fast it doesn't mean it will be anywhere near twice as short loading times.
The facts are no Sonys insanely fast ssd tech hasn't led to "no loading times" like so many had claimed it would. And as far as the Xbox from what we've seen it's design leads to loading that's for the most part equal in speed or faster the only place I don't see this being true is where comparisons can't even be made (ie Sony first party titles using every trick in the book to make sure they load as fast as possible).
Unless assassins creed dirt 5 watch dogs legion etc load twice as fast on ps5 than xbox I would say the "need" for it is basically proven false.
Overall it looks like Microsofts i/o game loading and booting / rebooting / quick resume is the overall better approach, unless Sonys hardware truly shows 2x loading speeds in these cross platform titles.
@BansheeNorn I don't have anymore sources than what rumors and others over the last year have said but many others have said or heard that the ps5 was originally designed and intended to release in late 2019 early 2020 and delayed when they found out Microsoft wasn't going to be launching til now.
Again supposedly that's why the disparity in power numbers and why it was originally a 9tflop box based on leaks but was then suddenly a 10.2tflop one.
When they found out ms would be later and more powerful they delayed and set about trying to recoup some more power from their system to get it closer to the Xbox.
That's what numerous people had said over the last year but I don't have any particular person who reported it (not that I can remember).
@Eran a weak excuse and even the 299 xbox series s with its 512gb ssd will be able to hold more both of the same speed but also (and more importantly) on. Cold storage medium (ie a external drive) for game parking out of the box and make its value a lot better looking than the 399 ps5 that cant be expanded in anyway at least for now.
@BansheeNorn really you known since the presentation back then even though just days ago this feature was actually working and in the hands of reviewers?
A feature that you're saying was flat confirmed as no happening all the way back then?

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Call of Duty: Vanguard?
The only multiplayer fps releasing this year worth playing is Halo Infinite.
Cod osninoy worth touching when infinity ward is making it and WW2 is just not fun anymore.
Bf2042 just looks like a big mess of bugs and changes most people don't want.
The portal mode could have been cool but hear it's much more limited than expected.
Re: Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut Is Superb, But Sony Shouldn't Be Charging Extra for PS5 Upgrade
Re: Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut Is Superb, But Sony Shouldn't Be Charging Extra for PS5 Upgrade
Re: Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut Is Superb, But Sony Shouldn't Be Charging Extra for PS5 Upgrade
Re: Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut Is Superb, But Sony Shouldn't Be Charging Extra for PS5 Upgrade
@Korgon please tell me how on earth from my ps5 do I go about "getting the $20 version"?
It no where to be found on the store from my ps5 Ive searched high and low and it's only the $29.99 version as the ONLY option.
Re: Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut Is Superb, But Sony Shouldn't Be Charging Extra for PS5 Upgrade
Re: Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut Is Superb, But Sony Shouldn't Be Charging Extra for PS5 Upgrade
Re: Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut Is Superb, But Sony Shouldn't Be Charging Extra for PS5 Upgrade
@The_Moose yea except for the fact that I WANT to NOT buy the extra ps5 version and yet I'm FORCED to if I try to buy just the PS4 version from my ps5 (which has the PS4 version already installed on).
Sony won't even let me speak with my wallet here its total bs!
Re: Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut Is Superb, But Sony Shouldn't Be Charging Extra for PS5 Upgrade
Re: Reaction: It's Time to Accept We Can't Predict PlayStation Anymore
@zekepliskin on ps5 its part of the motherboard I don't believe that's true on xbox series consoles.
Re: Reaction: It's Time to Accept We Can't Predict PlayStation Anymore
@Bicster75 the winds are changing comment sections on Playstation centric websites that mainly speak on what the competitors are doing proves that.
Xbox centric ones certainly aren't focused on what Sony is doing.
I'm just saying....
Re: Reaction: It's Time to Accept We Can't Predict PlayStation Anymore
Re: Reaction: It's Time to Accept We Can't Predict PlayStation Anymore
Microsofts plans are working exactly how they want them to they are building a building goodwill and a mindset of "why not" by making their software available however or where ever you want.
Re: Leaked Document Reveals Xbox's Opinion of The Last of Us 2
@IplayPCPSXBX too bad Sony has 0 answers to Microsofts fps boost.
They just added lime 74 more titles or something and many are not only going to 60 fps but to 120!
Re: Leaked Document Reveals Xbox's Opinion of The Last of Us 2
@Dodoo not even a close comparison I can tell you the gun play of gears 5 was a lot more satisfying than that if TLOU2.
Re: Leaked Document Reveals Xbox's Opinion of The Last of Us 2
@Constable_What and see? A normal very rational explication of why POSSIBLY they may have found issues with gun combat... All of you rushing to be like "it's great ...go try making a decent game xbox!" really sound like a bunch of defensive little children.
There is OBVIOUSLY something left to be desired with GUN combat in naughty fog titles most of you are saying it's fine eo
While also trying to explain away why it's not.
Re: PS Plus April 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Announced
@hoffa007 meanwhile game pass ultimate gets your everything in one and is now even offering backwards compatibility when streaming.
Re: PS Plus April 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Announced
@solocapers when the competition is offering the kind of value they are building its easy for those on the other side to start looking at their own dealt hand a little more closely.
Re: PS Plus April 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Announced
@deathaxe meanwhile it won't touch any game from ps3 or before and now they are not only preventing you from playing those games on their current box but eliminating those stores and the ability to ever get those games ever again....
GG Sony.
Re: Sadly, You Can't Store PS5 Games on an External HDD
Re: Sadly, You Can't Store PS5 Games on an External HDD
Re: PS5 Doesn't Have Quick Resume, But Loading Is Lightning Fast
@SJBUK echo chambers are how things like Trump becoming president happen.
If you want to live in a bubble go ahead but Dont try and stifle people who are passionate about a product being angry that it's failed them in numerous ways.
Re: PS5 Doesn't Have Quick Resume, But Loading Is Lightning Fast
We will know soon enough.
Re: PS5 Doesn't Have Quick Resume, But Loading Is Lightning Fast
Re: PS5 Has 667GB of Usable Storage Space on Its SSD
@GADG3Tx87 incorrect may want to re-read the article.
Re: PS5 Has 667GB of Usable Storage Space on Its SSD
@Medic_Alert pushing the tech that still has xbox out there beating them in loading the same games on both platforms. Lol
Re: Sadly, You Can't Store PS5 Games on an External HDD
@Eran a weak excuse and even the 299 xbox series s with its 512gb ssd will be able to hold more both of the same speed but also (and more importantly) on. Cold storage medium (ie a external drive) for game parking out of the box and make its value a lot better looking than the 399 ps5 that cant be expanded in anyway at least for now.
Re: Sadly, You Can't Store PS5 Games on an External HDD
@BansheeNorn really you known since the presentation back then even though just days ago this feature was actually working and in the hands of reviewers?
A feature that you're saying was flat confirmed as no happening all the way back then?
Re: Sadly, You Can't Store PS5 Games on an External HDD
@vapidwolf @Jayofmaya (Sony fanboy doing damage control as I see.
Suck it up not everyone is some blind loyal fanboy and are calling out Sony for obvious major missteps.
