Re: Round Up: What Was Announced During Sony's PS5 Deep Dive Reveal?

Cybrshrk

@Futureshark is they're won't be Sony is sticking to their exact same model as before they want to continue in the console ways of old Microsoft on the other hand is changing the game completely and I can almost guarantee we see ever evolving consoles and much more frequent updates.

There's a reason they are calling it SERIES to then the "generation" is dead.

Re: Rumour: PS5 More Powerful Than Xbox Series X, Says Old Leak Given New Life

Cybrshrk

@Arnna today I agree completely but I'm talking early days of 2013 when things were much closer and most hadn't moved their higher power of ps4 along with the lower priced made many people's choice easy. The it wasn't about exclusives really then most were just worried where they could play call of duty or whatever at its best.

The whole 1080p vs 900p thing was burned into my brain in every review or video put out back then.

Yes by the time the pro and one x came about everyone had settled in and no one was switching at that point just for power.

But from a clean start and before anything has been really put to its pases many lean towards performance in the games they already play and the cost.

If Sony is still somehow cheaper they'll probably lose very little ground if they are the same price and Xbox shows better performance in every cross platform I suspect many won't have a problem jumping ship. Especially those that were originally on Xbox all the way up to ps4.
. They've got a whole library of old titles from Xbox and 360 just waiting to be played at higher res and better performance than they ever saw back then.

Heck they've added HDR to original Xbox games at this point.

Re: Rumour: PS5 More Powerful Than Xbox Series X, Says Old Leak Given New Life

Cybrshrk

@Nakatomi_Uk people only say this when they expect to have the weaker hardware.

Games are #1 to alot of us but to many its where can I play such and such game at its best.

In early ps4 and Xbox one days every video or story was about how this game runs at 1080p on ps4 and only 900p on Xbox one or the best place to play call of duty, madden, battlefield, etc, is on Playstation.

This stuff mattered amd to many it affected their decision on what to buy.

Trust me it was launch titles like knack or ryse son of Rome.

Re: Rumour: PS5 More Powerful Than Xbox Series X, Says Old Leak Given New Life

Cybrshrk

@Nakatomi_Uk ps4 was always the more powerful console and Microsoft shot themselves in the foot by having lesser powered hardware along with requiring a 100 dollar add on device from the get go (not to mention the used game fiasco).

It was all of this and then the stories every week about how such and such game runs best on Playstation and the whole 1080p (ps4) 900p or less (xbox one) situation was thrown up in every reviewers video.

Re: Rumour: PS5 More Powerful Than Xbox Series X, Says Old Leak Given New Life

Cybrshrk

@ReyLeija yes the Playstation 4 looks so strong now but back at launch it was only xbox's pounders and lack of power that got them so far behind.

Every other story was how such and such game runs best on ps4 and the whole full 1080p vs 900p comparisons we saw with each and every big release...

Like I've said this stuff does matter and has shown to have an effect.

Games do matter most hut when ps4 and Xbox one launched I never played or cared about anything Sony would have coming and only got a ps4 after last of us remastered came out and I wanted to try it.

Re: Xbox Series X Detailed as Sony Remains Completely Silent on PS5

Cybrshrk

@Robocod is you find those problems because you want to have a reason to stick with console that's fine we all gotta accept our lot in life.

I personally have next no issues and an experience that blows away powering up my ps4 pro and trying to get a game (and it's insane hours long updates) going and then when I see destiny 2 at 30 fps and that super terrible FOV I usually quit soon after and go back to the superior experience on my pc.

I unlike yourself believe in GOOD gaming wherever that may be.

That's why I have a ps4 pro for its good exclusives
I have a pc for its superior experience
I have switch for travel and Nintendo exclusives

And I don't have an Xbox cause my much better pc does everything for me that it could do but better (though I aka paying member of game pass ultimate all the way through 2022)

They give me that freedom and I love them for it and I'm still supporting them as much as I would else wise.

I only want the best experience however I game and I adore the CHOICE to do it in whatever game I play (which is again the good ones)

Sony seems to be learning that there's money on opening up and even if people like you want to kick and scream when they do they are going to do what's best for their bottom line.

I applaud them for trying and let's hope they keep moving in the right direction.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn Listed for PC on Amazon France

Cybrshrk

I don't know why all of your are getting upset that Sony might sell your "exclusives" to a pc player.

1. It's still no on the other consoles

2. Sony gets to make more money and possibly be financially stronger than ever before. The (God knows they need it)

3. You have more options of how and where you play your games (that is if they ever match Microsoft in "play anywhere" the functionality)

4 Hopefully this is just the first sign of a changing in the guard and they fully embrace pc as extension of their platform it should be.

One day I'll be able to play my copy of God of War 3 or whatever day 1 with the rest of you or jump on some mp game amd be playing right next to you all while enjoying the game on the hardware I prefer.
.
Again trust me I think this "console war" is turning more and more into a "ecosystem war".

Re: Xbox Series X Detailed as Sony Remains Completely Silent on PS5

Cybrshrk

@Futureshark you have pro patches just like Xbox has one x patches but that's NOT the same as what micorosft is talking about doing with smart delivery... Let's take the last of us on ps3 you buy it play and then 1 hear later you get a ps4.
. You're not playing that game no matter what and even if you had some form of backwards compatibility you'd just be playing to exact same game locked to the same 30 fps and same resolution.
. Now you have the option to get the remaster but that's ANOTHER full game purchase and now you have 2 copies of the game essentially forever locked behind their own walled garden.

With Microsoft let's say you buy that same game on Xbox one then a year later you get a series x and now you want to play not on the new system.

Well when you go to play it there's nothing to buy and nothing to have to choose you just install the game and when you boot it up your playing what would have been on Playstation the remastered version with all its benefits.

Now say you never played that game when it first comes out so you buy it now that you have a xbox series x well when you decide to go to basement and let the wife use the main living room setup for her movie with friends..
You bolt up your old Xbox one and look right there waiting for you is that same game now on its original version fully ready to go with all your progress and settings / achievements etc.

This is a tremendous win for the gamer and brings playing games on console very close to how b it works on pc where your game scales to whatever hardware you can throw at it (within a minimum).

Re: Xbox Series X Detailed as Sony Remains Completely Silent on PS5

Cybrshrk

@Robocod does PC gaming not already offer the superior gaming experiences to what we have on console? Don't those same games on pc also scale to run (sometimes even worse than what's possible with the current consoles)?

The ability to scale even the best gaming experiences (even down to where they may not be considered the best experiences) has always been a feature of pc gaming.

Microsoft is just trying to take the benefits of a system like pc gaming and apply it to console gaming.

They are truly changing "the game" and when it comes to consoles and how we treat "generations".

Microsoft is taking console gaming to something closer to Apple and their iPhone and app store.

You can have an iPhone from today last year or 3 years ago and each one will run the game but at different levels of performance. At the same time the iPhone 5s bring that it's past the "cut off point" and may not run it at all.

This is what Microsoft is building to I expect them to have and ever evolving lineup of systems at multiple performance levels and with time passing they'll update on a semi-regular basis with older models just stepping down quality til the point they reach the end of support and can no longer run the newer software.

It's a very smart way of always keeping yourself relevant and it's nothing but a pro consumer move.

Trust me 10 years from now this will 100% be the way things are for Microsoft at least.

Let's hope Sony doesn't drag tail like they do with everything else to the point it's almost a joke that they don't support what everyone else already knows is the way forward.

Re: Xbox Series X Detailed as Sony Remains Completely Silent on PS5

Cybrshrk

@rjeje

"but we still have to let Sony make some money on the PS5 by remastering everything into native 4k for people who missed it"

That's the whole point of what smart delivery is solving and you don't see this as a problem?

You think it's OK to release a game and then turn right around a year later and sale them the same game with the originally designed higher res textures that they down scaled to make it work on the base ps4?

And you're fine with when you buy cyberpunk 2077 on your ps5 that you can't go in your basement and play it on the PS4 when the living room tv is in use? Nope gotta buy it for ps4 too.

That's OK with you?

This is what smart delivery is designed to solve things like resident evil 3 remake vs the original resident evil 3 is not.

When he game is so old and the update so complex then yes make a new version and sell it to me again.

But when all you're literally doing is releasing the game with access to the original higher res textures and slapping the "remaster" label on it NO that crap needs to end.

Microsoft is putting an end to it will Sony follow?

Re: PlayStation Fans' Patience Running Thin As PS5 Remains a No-Show

Cybrshrk

@Carl-G Sony has released as much as Microsoft? Lmao

All they've shown is a logo and the fact it has a new gimmick in its Controller and ray traced /3d audio (which if you didn't catch Microsoft quietly announced they could do too, it was kinda small because it's not that important but Sony needs SOMETHING).

Microsoft is out ahead because they were behind yes but they are making Sony definitely look bad when Microsoft shows their model in all its glory and they premiere the... Logo?

I'm not saying Sony won't have lots of good stuff to talk about but they also know they are going to be weaker and they need to do their best to make that difference "seem" as small as possible.

Re: PlayStation Fans' Patience Running Thin As PS5 Remains a No-Show

Cybrshrk

@Grimwood

What you're willing to accept as "fine" isn't the end all be all of experiences and much better experiences are and have been occurring on the pc side for a long time.

Microsoft is just trying it best to bring that "experience" to those who prefer consoles simplicity (without getting screwed with things like remaster releases during early new Gen).

I can tell yih as someone who has a 2080ti equipped pc going back to my ps4 pro to play God of War has gotten harder and harder as the low unstable fps just ends up making me feel sick.

There is a measurable / important benefit in moving even those like yourself forward you may not appreciate what you don't have now but you'll wonder how you ever accepted less once you have it.

Re: PlayStation Fans' Patience Running Thin As PS5 Remains a No-Show

Cybrshrk

@HungryWolf have you never heard of a remaster say the last of us remaster in ps4 early on?

Did they give you cross buy there?

No and that's what Microsoft is trying to put an end to.

Titles aren't "remastered" they are just like pc game and scale to whatever level of power your system has at no cost to you (no remaster repackage).

This is all in preparation of xbox ending the "console generation" and and taking the pc approach where games always are supported by older hardware (up to a ever moving cut off) and as new hard is released the software runs at its "best" on that hardware.

Think how the Android or Apple ecosystem works where if you buy a game it runs and scales to play on a number of models but obviously today's titles don't run on an iPhone 3G.

People worried about Microsofts lack of the "exclusives" in the first year or 2 are missing the big picture here... Microsoft is changing how the console "game" is works entirely and if 30+ years of pc gaming have proven anything games can and so scale across multiple levels of hardware (and even when supporting super low end hardware) pc games still are the superior experiences when the settings are dialed up.

And the Xbox series x is planning to offer that same experience to console buyers now and in the future.

Re: Guide: What Are Teraflops, and How Many Do PS4 and PS5 Have?

Cybrshrk

I registered just to post but I also saw the name of this website while doing so and I realized why this article spoke nothing of the rumored PS5 specs (and the fact that the same "leaker" reported the PS5 at around 9 TFLOPS.

Nothing against anyone here but the website obviously has a bias. The difference in performance here isn't NOT significant and during the early days of ps4 vs Xbox one the story was always about how much better ps4 ran x game or the fact that ps4 was at true 1080p while xbox one had to "settle" for 900p or even less.

The point I'm making is the difference in power at that time was even less than what we have here and though you may tell yourself "oh I don't care I'll always be just as happy with 1080p".

Well you may feel this way but those early reports and differences in performance are a bias that moves a lot of non "fanboy" types to wherever their games play best.

360 lost tons of users during the transition because of this. And all it takes its a friend's groups early adopter making this decision before long the rest of that group follows him.

I know the response it's about the games, games games, but this is only now because the tables are turned when it was the other way around it was all about how much better games were on ps4.

Now those exclusives absolutely do matter but no one is taking into account the fact that Microsoft hasn't even began to show their hand in this regard and even if the PS4 had all the games you "had" to play it can easily change.

I felt the same way about ps4 exclusives and still own a ps4 pro (and 0 Xbox) but go back a generation and I couldn't care less about Sony's exclusives and everything I wanted to play was on 360.

Just keep all this in mind the Xbox being more powerful out the gate matters (it isn't insignificant its almost 33% more power) and though you say you don't care about high fidelity gaming that may be true today but 5 years from now you may not be so much.

1080p is fine when all you know is 1080p but wait til you can't get a 1080p screen (1080p on a 4k screen leaves a lot to be desired).

Every system has its exclusives and those maybe all some gamers care about but the casual "COD or NBA guys" could care less about them and they'll just go where everyone else is and those people will go where their early adopter friends go and if those early adopters go with the most powerful console (like they've done before).

It all will matter.
