@iamtylerdurden1 spoken like a short sighted Sony/console fanboy.
Microsoft is atleast trying to push the industry forward and into a world where experiences are much more equal between "console" and "pc". You may not care for whatever reason (maybe you're blind or maybe it's just blind fanboyism) but to the majority of the world fps matters and 60 is a good starting point anything higher is good and 120 should be the ultimate goal (there's a reason why hdmi 2.1 focus is making every future tv default to it).
Again your thoughts on who has one today are VERY shortsighted when this console is something designed to be around for a decade.
In 2013 how many of you had a 4k screen? But in 2020? Obviously a lot more of you care about that now or otherwise that entire argument for 4k gaming would be moot.
The same does apply and WILL matter in the future for 120hz gaming.
Yes Sony just like Microsoft would always prioritize fps over pure resolution but when Sony has been known to go for higher res before frame rate its a problem. Luckily here they SEEM to have picked up on the message and given the CHOICE (Like they always should) but the Sony fanboys have been programmed by Sony that resolution is the only thing that matters. So now there's in fighting between one group of Sony fanboys and another.
Microsoft pushing to make sure games have high resolution AND high fps is also a good thing and having that as a baseline from which games grow will be beat in the long run as taking shortcuts to improved visual quality while taking fps and resolution is what's led to an entire 2 generations of console players thinking 30 fps is ok.
It wasn't that way early in 60 fps was the standard and its only when we tried to push early 3d hardware more than it should that "settling" for 30 (or sometimes even lower) became the go to.
The biggest argument here is that where Microsoft may be able to deliver things like 4k and 60 fps with options for lower res 120fps gaming Sonya limited hardware has basically put them in a position for fps 'a resolution that we had last time. 4k/30 or 1440p/60 is an outdated model
We should be looking at mostly 4k/60 or 1440/120 gaming and that's what Microsoft has been pushing for.
@Netret0120 absolutely sites like PushSquare really prove that Sonys moves are perfectly reasonable to their most die hard fans who don't seem to understand the phrase "respecting the consumers investment."
@Arnna I'm not sure if this type of threat is classified as a "hate crime" those tend to need to be racial or sexual orientation etc related to be called one.. A threat of harm? sure. bad? yes! a hate crime? I don't think you can compare this to the type of terrible a real "hate crime" entails.
@Kidfried It's cool man I understand where you're coming from and am in no way calling you "some brain dead fanboy" I do absolutley still think those exists and that Sony had made them this way with a lot of double and back talk. (Like "Console generations matter and our games require new tech just to exist" meanwhile they release some of the "next gen must haves" on ps4 but only after having fans try and tell xbox fans how dumb it is to have cross gen titles).
My point may not apply to you but it does apply to "some" I didn't say it applies to all.
The only reason I'm so defensive is the last year of crap I've seen people spewing about the "superiority" of Sony and how in so many regards those "facts" have been twisted and ultimatley proven to not even be true.
I'm still going to buy a playstation 5 day 1 and I'm still excited to play these games that you mentioned (atleast most) but I also absolutley want to play the majority of the games coming from the zenimax studios. So I'm glad I am also a member of the Xbox ecosystem.
I never made this a "console war" I got dragged into one over the course of the year. I a 25 year PlayStation player am also a 19 year Xbox player. I've been around for both since day 1.
I simply stood up with a completely unbiased viewpoint and mentioned to these Sony "elitist'" types that Xbox offered the more compelling "value" and the higher performing hardware. I've heard for over a year how wrong I was and how the ps5 would end up faster and way better than Xbox without much more argument then.... "cuz"
They spoke against so many things that in the last year we've seen Sony take a completely reverse position on and suddenly now that's the actual "way it should be".
It's good that you're not one of them but a post here "to you" is more of a statement to the whole than just a back and forth private conversation between us alone.
So enjoy you games on PlayStation 5 I will too but I will also continue to enjoy these storied franchises on their new home in the Xbox ecosystem (and because Microsoft makes it so easy I wont even need to buy their console to do so) I'll be playing them on my even better PC.
@Kidfried Well if your against it in general and not just because its now against instead of for you then I apologize, I would prefer that we all could play whatever we want anywhere we want but Sony is adamant to not let that happen.
When I see the paying to exclude Xbox or any other (non Sony player) from having access to games, studios, or characters (especially in games they dont even make themselves like avengers or street fighter V as well as final fantasy.
It really rubs me the wrong way and even though I have a PlayStation I refuse to support moves like this and is why I never picked up my copy of Avengers.
I wish it didn't have to be this way and I think if Sony was more open and not always trying to make it "about the exclusives" we wouldn't be in the position we find ourselves in now.
But with every Sony fanboy yelling "Xbox got no games" Microsoft HAD to respond. Maybe one day everyone can just get along but Sony will really need to open up even more (so far they've basically had to have the "arms" pried open)
@Carl-G are you kidding me? Are you really THAT delusional? Microsoft only cares about money and is anti-consumer????
Have you not been paying attention?
Do you not realize Sony's biggest game for their launch is a 11 year old ps3 game witha new coat of paint and their 2nd is a ps4 DLC they lied to you saying it REQUIRED ps5 to run while now selling you the game in its 3rd form.
You say anti-consumer when Sony's entire model is about forcing you braindead fanboys into blowing all your money over and over on the same games and leaving anything you paid for in the past until they want to sell it to you AGAIN!
Meanwhile Xbox has every game running and looking better than ever all completley free and even going back MULTIPLE generations and adding in things like HDR that never even existed when the games came out originally.
Oh and they also for $15 bucks a month let you play EVERY SINGLE GAME they make including all the newly aquired Zenimax studio games on your XBOX or PC from Day 1
Heck if you want you can even play them all on your phone at anytime.....
The whole point of spending the 7 billion dollars wasnt about "making their money back" its about "making their service extremely hard to ignore".
The move is to entice new subscribers to gamepass not "make their money back". They are playing the long game and you dont get to "Netflix of Gaming" by worrying about risk.
Say good bye after Ghostwire and Deathloop ....you'll have ESO Minecraft and maybe fallout tactics as well as that Elder Scrolls Card game, the rest will be waiting for you on gamepass!
@David187 Whats baffling is that you sony fanboys are still holding on to hope that Xbox doesn't take all their (good) toys and leave yall hanging.
Sure "case by case" basis will mean you get the ES card game or Fallout tactics and Minecraft but dont expect Starfield or ES: VI or Next Fallout Nor Doom the Third to be anywhere near your console. I play them all on PC (the proper place for all of them) so I couldn't care less I dont own any of them on my xbox or playstation but watching the sony die hards have a melt down has been pretty enjoyable.
@carlos82 Seriously neither console has a very strong launch lineup Xbox really got screwed having to move halo but it was for the best. The PlayStation line up is pretty pathetic when the Astros playroom or some rocket league rip off is looked at as "must haves".
Demon souls is a nice option but a 11 year old remaster isnt anything to be like "OMG I've never seen anything like this before!!!" and Miles or literally a confirmed ps4 dlc being slightly improved and asking for even more money for something you've already had. Its weak whether you can admit it or not.
At least the medium is a full fledge new IP that is actually doing something interesting with the new hardware.
Ratchet would have been that for Sony but it isn't coming with launch.
So again I say both systems launch titles are weak and why I think the Xbox is the stronger option as they at least are making sure the 1000's of games from before all run and look there best and play like never before.
All while not requiring you to pay yet ANOTHER time for the same game you've payed for multiple times before.
I'll get them all because that's the type of player I am I can see the benefits to all platforms ( I even got my RTX 3090 delivered today) but speaking from a completely unbiased owner who shows no allegiance to anyone. Xbox is at least staying focused on the customer and giving him as much as they can from day 1 while waiting for true next gen games to arrive.
@Arnna Well whether you like those or not doenst make them bad I spent more time with xbox games like Forza Horizon 3 and 4 or gears 5 playing with friends over and over than I did with the 1 or 2 games a year I spent a weekend or 2 alone playing through what was basically a movie. I enjoy both and can see the postitives in each but to act like the 10 games or so that sony made that are 1 time through single player games makes them absolutley MUST HAVES then tell me why 120 million playstation 4 sales and YET only 16 million max sales of any one of those games? Less than 15% of ps4 owners even buy these games and yet somehow that makes them somehow better? Fact is 3rd party games are what consoles are used for majority of the time and with this next gen xbox will be the best place to play those along with now dominating in the world of Western RPG and FPS "must haves"
The fact that you can "play halo or forza on PC" IS BY DESIGN!!! They dont care if you buy some box they built or play on your pc or even your phone its about making you a member of their ecosystem and in anyway you slice it thats what those games will make happen.
@Kidfried and you say you don't like "these types of acquisition" but I bet you played Spiderman even though that game was born out of the work they did for Microsoft on sunset overdrive just a couple years ago (and before Sony just came and bought them out)
No more sunset overdrive for Xbox players but I'm sure you're totally not upset about that no way you skip miles morales to tske a stand.
Not to mention Spiderman who's been on every platform decades is not paid for by Sony to keep out of the hands of anyone who doesn't pay I to play in their world. I was super pumped to play avengers and was even going to play on ps4 pro (had my reservation and beta access ready to go) but with that announcement I never installed the beta and canceled my order. I'm not ever playing the game now and it's because Sony was making "exclusions" when they really shouldn't have been.
Same thing with street fighter V 30+ years of being everywhere and Sony makes it an exclusive and they Continuing with paying studios they had 0 to do with development to "exclude" xbox gamers as much as they can for as long as they can.
That's the real shady moves people shouldn't be supporting. Instead yall happy to go along til Microsoft starts to play a similar game then you throw your hands up in the air!
@Kidfried I'm a Sony user as much as anyone (in fact I ONLY own Sony consoles) but I ain't some brainwashed fanboy either and I can point out the obvious and accept that Sony may not be so consumer friendly as others. They milk us like cattle and so many of you are happy to just stand there and take it. Not me. I'm at the very least going to voice my opinion online in hope that enough others wake up and realize it as well and MAYBE...make some kind of difference to get Sony to do better.
@carlos82 Sonys go to move is to sell you the same content with a fresh paint job (and maybe a pallet swap for miles) for the umpteenth time.
The games are good sure but they were good the first time too and Sony constantly double dipping is getting very old when Microsoft is doing things like smart delivery and upgrading game like gears 5 is getting and absolutely for free.
I hate the idea that I'll probably ha e to ened up boy the last of us 2 again in a few months when they upres the game and make the frame rate more stable. They'll probably try to sell me "the last of us remastered" remastered soon enough as well. I was going to hold on to my games to play on ps5 but when I realized they'd just make me buy them again if I wanted any kind of new experience I put up GHOST, TLOU2, Spiderman, and whole bunch more on ebay.
Best to sell them now and get as much as I can back cause Sonys for sure going to force me to buy them again... Very soon in fact for Spiderman.
It all a just a little tiresome in 2020 when Microsoft is taking care of their customers so much better.
@jly1987 play anywhere means they have options for you to "play anywhere" as in they got you on mobile the got you in front of your TV in the living room and they got you at your desk and pc. . They have ways for your to play their games on all places ie "play anywhere" they don't necessarily mean "play ON anything".
Look at how they've been using "play anywhere" up til now.... Xbox or PC now the branding adds mobile streaming with Xcloud.
@Kidfried hurt the brand? A game being exclusive has little to do with "hurting the brand" the thing it does is "cause jealousy and spite" maybe but the k lu thing that "hurts the brand" is for the game not to be of a solid quality. The fact is that if the game is really good its exclusivity will make its brand even more valuable and desirable.
The fact that some won't just be able to buy it won't hurt anything but Sony users ego or wallets.
@MattBoothDev yet it's on that Sony pays money to make sure that Xbox players can't use Spiderman in avengers or pays to keep final fantasy xvi away from them too. Not to mention how they bought out street fighter V a series that's been multi on everything for like 30+ years. Yea what this is is Sony reaping what they sow.
Dont try and act like they better Microsofts has just finally decided to stoop to their level.
@NorrinRadd it's absolutely petty you people act like these companies are your own family business or something and that some how you team enjoying and benefiting from a good solid game is irrelevant if it means at the same time your competitor benefits even in the slightest.
@Valhalla91 and you realize that's the whole point Microsoft has made hardware irrelevant to them and their biggest profits come from those they don't have to subsidize hardware to get them in. Go play it on your phone Microsoft absolutely prefers that to giving you a more expensive piece of hardware for sleds than cost price.
@TheArt yea cause sunset overdrive wasn't one of the best Xbox exclusives of the last generation and street fighter hasn't been on everything for 30+ years.
Sony really likes making their fanboys look kinda dumb after a year of truo g to give xbox flak for havk g cross gen support while also assuming Playstation had an an answer for true BC. .
Yet Sony comes out and kicks their fanboys while they're down. Not the Sony fans having to walk back so much they spoke on before and your left with a CO sole with no exclusives at launch that are anything worth writing home about... I fully suspect the expanding platforms that they are rushing to support will soon even include pc at a much faster clip than HZD or even death stranding came in.
Now the claims of their game REQUIRING ps5 power and specs to run is also proven false and it shows why Sony is still so focused on 39 fps "cinematic" gaming (because they still planning to put their games on a console that can't do any better)
@RIGORR_MORTIS when 85% of Playstation owners don't buy the exclusives (check the math 120 million consoles sold highest selling exclusive is only 16 million units = roughly 14.8%) the need to have access to them is slim for a very big portion.
In fact of all the gamers I know personally between friends and family I'm the only one who cares about these types of game most only play the yearly titles or a specific game they're heavily invested in long term (think destiny or wow) not a single one of them (and its about 50 people total) not one of them has played any of the big Sony exclusives and some didn't even recognize the names when I asked.
My personal experience may not represent EVERYONE but you know what does? Facts
Facts are facts and they say that 85% of Playstation players don't care about the games the vocal minority of Sony fans online are always screaming about.
Most of my Playstation breathern went Sony cause it was more powerful and cheaper before that's the whole reason and up to now they've been impressed with the Xbox series x and its power with some even mentioning maybe switching sides.
I haven't talked to them since this announcement but I have a feeling many of them especially my younger cousins and such that are still in school are going to be really looking at the series s.
They don't care about 4k (they don't even have 1440p just 1080p)but faster gaming and next gen tech is still important to them and of they can get all that for 299 I'm thinking most will be Tryon to convince their parents to get them that this year for sure.
Sony exclusives are great but the cold shed facts are most Sony players don't care.
The market went from 50/50 cause xbox stumbled on power and price out the gate. All the videos and articles pointed out how everything ran better on ps4 vs xbox (remember 1080p vs 900p?) this was constant back then and it had an effect and now look where we ended up. And we know it wasn't cause of the exclusives mainly because only 14.8% of them actually cared to buy them.
Xbox is more powerful that's a given they also can be cheaper if that's more important if they end up cheaper either way then Sony is in for some real trouble they MUST match Microsoft at the veery least or we could be looking at a changing of the guard.
@Falkirk4life it'd not trying to pretend it's a 4k console mp one hated on ps4 pro because it did 1440 they hated on it cause they called it 4k.
Ms is not mincing words amd has said it's a 1440p at beat console that will offer the ability to upres to 4k but it's not the same they aren't claiming 4k gaming still its 1440p at best.
Upscaling is something almost anything can do the internal resolution (or rendering resolution) is the one that matters.
Sony tried to spin it that it was 4k Xbox series s is calling it what it is 1440 at best
@tameshiyaku 120 fps is absolutely no cash grab or bs. If you feel this way it tells me you don't have a 120 fps set nor have experienced it.
It's absolutely game changing and once you experience it and actually see your aiming improve you can never go back to 60 fps in that same game it fundamentally changes they way games feel and it's incredible especially for fps and other fast pace games.
You say this today but in a decade when you can actually get one you'll be singing a different tune.
All the passes given here for this like it's no big deal and expected with the situation on the world today meanwhile you all Blas hall infinite and then make fun when they do the right thing and push it back to make it as great as it should truly be.
You people take fanboys to a whole nother level
I guess it's OK to point then that the ps5 on launch is essentially a big expensive ps4 dlc player.
Atleast Xbox will give you tons and tons of games to go back and experience at incredible new levels like 120 fps or with HDR in game that came 15 years before that was a thing.
I'll be buying a ps5 and had no plans for an Xbox even though I've games on both forever (with my pc doing the Xbox work these days) but with the series s being so cheap and an awesome little box I figure I'll get one just to have a device that's compatible with the 15 years of xbox that came before the whole cross support with pc.
There's tons of games I own that are locked to actual Xbox hardware that will be nice to finally revisit and in awesome new modes and options.
@Matroska games have been shown on a because we're much closer to launch and they are ready to show now the demos of x type game play came long before now and before hardware was ready to show the game itself.
Things are obviously much closer to being ready to ship and I'm sure from this point further and new demonstration would be on actual hardware just the the series s was shown this week.
You people are digging so hard here and your in the completely wrong place.
Stop letting your fanboy show and use your brain. I mean we haven't seen a Playstation 5 ui beyond a 2 second clip does that mean Sony doesn't have a functional ui? Is it going to ship without the ability to menu??
@Matroska you guys are ignorant it's not like a PS2 vs ps3 or a pc from today and one from 5 years ago.
It's like a 2000 dollar pc from today with a 2080 ti and 16gb of ram and a 1200 dollar pc from today with a 2060s and 8gb of ram.
In no meaningful way is the 1200 dollar build "holding back" the 2000 dollar one.
Some settings are dialed back and you're definitely not running at 4k but you can still enjoy rtx and DLSS and all the other new technologies that make a system from today anything but something like a system from 5 years ago.
You kids are just ridiculous and the amount of salt your pumping through your veins is life threatening.
@KippDynamite your math skills are very weak and trying to use the Xbox live $1 upgrade that's soon to expire doesn't work or does any annual plan as they don't exist its 15 bucks x 24 which should be $27.50 roughly for the series s (and only charging $25) and $36.25 (which again they charge only $35 for).
You say this is impossible that no one would finance something for less than its actual cost but you miss the part where part of what's being financed is a service, a service whose actual costs to them are extremely low and the profit from the model would still be substantial while also enticing more buyers with less financial means.
It's an absolute win win and a game changer for sure.
I also predicted this 2 years ago and am waiting on the final piece to my prediction to happen.
The Xbox is going iPhone strategy
No more generations console "series" will occur much more frequently and the whole idea of generations will be gone. Games will keep being BC to a certain cutoff point (or line in the sand as another way to put it) and that line will constantly move forward with new hardware releases if your on the front side of that line you can still play anything without issue but once your hardware is on the back side you'll need to upgrade to use new stuff.
Everything that's happened since my prediction has fell in line with what I was thinking.
From the naming scheme "series" to the cross gen transition period even smart delivery as well as the Series S with the biggest and most expected evidence of it being the expansion of this program that when announced two years ago as a little test was the birth of my prediction that this was where MS was going.
All of it points to a future like the model of iPhone or any other electronic device that's update regularly.
Gaming on iPhone shows evolving hardware can easily be used to have a solid gaming platform and pc is the ultimate example that splitting the hardware base doesn't stifle development.
In fact a ever evolving hardware ecosystem allows games to get more impressive sooner as older models fall off quick and don't have to be supported for the the full 7-10 years a normal console may have been before. No one's using a iPhone 5s today but it's just as old as the original Xbox which is still fully supported and holding everyone else back.
Just watch and remember you heard it from some guy Ina comment section on a Playstation gaming website who called it first. Lol
@GamingFan4Lyf this most likely just comes down to timing most of the Xbox series x focused footage came much earlier before release when actual hardware wasn't really ready to show. Now that we are that much closer to launch and hardware is :wsicwllu done the ability to show games running on actual hardware is much more likely.
It's no conspiracy just hardware and software development time tables.
Most games over the years even at places like e3 would be running on a pc behind the scenes.
That's just how it goes.
You'll see marketing footage moving forward that's new and not focused on the series s itself will be running fine in series x hardware.
@Matroska Microsoft doesn't care about being the only place to play one thing they want to be the one Place to play everything at its best.
People keep pointing out that you can play everything in others places...duh!
That's on purpose!
They would have their services on Playstation if they could.
They're not competing with Sony in the same ways as before the consoles are just there and at two significantly different levels because they want to give those WITHOUT other places to play their games a place that can and does it with extreme value for what you're paying.
It's a genius strategy and like I said years ago best thing to happen to MS in a long time was losing the early battle of last gen.
They've been making nothing but great moves since.
I personally only planned to get a ps5 and play my Xbox titles on my 3090 equipped pc but now that I've seen the series s and the benefits it offers for the money I'm thinking about getting it just to have a second place for people to play as well as an entry point to 15 years of my Xbox gaming history / purchases that will never be cross support on PC.
It will be such a great back compat device giving me access to so many games I had just given up on amd now with huge improvements ( I mean HDR in a og xbox game? Sign me up!) the benefits of the console far out weigh the extra cost and already being a long term game pass user I can pick one up and only it and be set.
It's definitely on my radar now when a week ago it wasn't.
@Shepherd_Tallon like pc gaming fanboys today thing amd ryzen is a GOD send for their pc gaming even though it's still inferior for you know actual pc gaming.
So many have invested into the hype though that they've now convinced themselves that the amd ryzen chips high ability in non gaming areas is significantly more important that it would ever actually be for them.
Their effectively throwing away money and or performance just so they can claim they were right.
If you ACTUALLY looked at their usage over the course of ownership I guarantee 90% of them would find the majority of their use being gaming focused with very little to no measurable advantage to having it the other way.
Itll take a while but once amd keeps somehow coming up short the fanboys will slowly start to open their eyes and just accept what's already known.
Intel is faster in gaming.
It will also take the "influencers" and click bait article writers to grow a conscious and stop just feeding the troops exactly what they want to hear whole ignoring actual facts that would possibly make the mob seem less interested in making it rain views and support on you.
To me I only want the thoughts and opinions from the the type that are going to throw all market bias out the window and only report facts not feelings.
Personally the only one in the pc gaming review space who seems to still act like this is Steve from gamers nexus.
I begun to only trust his hencuw as at least I know they were done properly and without trying to hide things via bias.
@MaccaMUFC funny party too about the Sony 1st party exclusives needed for "system sellers" in fact only about 14.8%of ps4 console owners have actually bought (or gotten for free included with a bundle of their system itself.
120+ million consoles and only less than 15% even care about these so called system sellers.
What this tell me is in this next gen what's really going to be the driving factor is 1. Cost and 2. Performance 2a. Specifically the performance across the games people ACTUALLY buy consoles to play.
The fortnite The cod The fifa The NBA/madden/etc The other big cross platform massive games most people spend their time with these days.
Those are the games people will be looking to play (not the 16 million who buy Sony exclusives but the other 150 million players just wanting to play their favorite franchise at its best.
There's a reason Sony and Xbox we t from practically 50/50 at the end of last gen to a almost 3:1 lead.
It started with the price (Sony was $100 less) and then it was all about the performance leads Sony shied in EVERY SINGLE GAME across both platforms.
Every other video or story was -
Sony is 1080p while xbox struggle with 900p in...
Or
Sony crushes Xbox in latest (insert whatever game here) performance
For a year that was basically the only story in town.
Microsoft cost more and ran everything WORSE!
IT MATTERED
and the smaller lead Sony started with cost grew more and more with each and every new game that ran better on ps4.
Until we got to the mid cycle upgrades (which Sony go out first by a year) and by which there was little to no reason except for die xbox fans to switch at this point.
That mid cycle was never going to change anything just make sure we all got by a little longer.
But now here we are possibly looking at another xbox 360 / ps3 days.
Rumors say xbox will come in cheaper and it's already known they got the power lead.
So let's see how things go after a year or 2 of Sony always getting put in 2nd place with every game release except the ones that are exclusive to their platform.
We might have found the reason why they are still so determined to keep as many things exclusive to their platform as possible (the only things that will be "best" on ps5 will be the things exclusive to ps5! Lol
@Hityoazz83 maybe but they grew up and I thought most of the industry had to. The world of gaming today is about connecting with each other and sharing our experiences across multiple platforms.
Only Sony still seems interested in keeping people as separated as they can (due to a fear of people slipping through their fingers I guess?)
Ive always been a Sony owner going back to ps1 in 1997 but today I'm much less interested in "investing" in their world as they remind too much of apple and their crazy walled garden approach to users and That s**t don't fly with me. Just like epic is taking apple to task people need to do the same with Sony.
I'll still buy in and play the games I'm FORCED to play on their inferior hardware but it will never be my go to and anytime I can skip them I will.
They were my go to for a long time but their crappy practices have shown Me how much (or how little) I am actually worth to them.
Respect me my time and my money and I'll give it all to you try and rule any of it with an iron grip and you'll see me push you away.
@PhantomMenace84 they only own his rights on movie screens and no where else any other time you see him it's marvel comics licensing him out in a per case basis.
What happened with Spiderman PS4 was marvel actually approached insomniac with the idea of them doing a game based around any number of their heros the studio (being owned by Sony and Sony having a har* on for pushing their connection to him) they chose to do Spiderman.
It was a license for that game series and I'm sure multiple sequels are a given but there's been plenty of Spiderman in other pieces of material and even other games even during this generation. . Activision did lose their license years ago so that makes sense for them to have nothing to do with it now.
Sony may in fact be actively paying as much as they can to keep Spiderman out of others hands to drive home thier connection (and help keep him in the mcu or give them more leverage etc.
But the rights are still owned by marvel but they are plenty happy to take all Sonys money at least for the time.
@SirAngry sorry friend updates you MAY get for free I hardly think so. They had their chance to announce their response to smart delivery and they purposefully chose to ignore it and have nothing if the sort to announce.
Miles morales is just them dipping their toes and trying to avoid the backlash before launch but fully each and every ps5 version of a game (outside of live service type games that make money on micro-transactions) will most certainly be charging you the the privilege to set the details slider from medium to high.
@Weebleman yea see they COULD have done that and it WOULD be a big selling point they COULD have used .. Kinda like Microsoft DID and DOES and WILL.
It's called Smart Delivery
Sony has most certainly explained their feelings on it by not even having anything close to a response to the Xbox announcement.
They fully plan to "update" their games at which point they'll repackage them and rebrand them "remaster" and sell them to you again.... If you're lucky previous owners will get a discount (but don't hold your breath).
@L3GTRIGA the life of 4k/30 exclusives will continue I suspect for a lot of Sony games. Their priorities are all pita whack and even though Sony fanboys will never admit they also right articles like this singing the praises of technology and features they'll rarely see. HFW WILL be at 4k/30 even though it's arguably much better to do a lower dynamic resolution (with checkerboarding if needed or whatever) at 60 fps vs their obvious still go to plan of scream about "true 4k gaming" and ignore the fps (leaving it at 30 at best and dips even lower sometimes).
That's the world Sony wants to live in and what they think "next gen" means.
I'm much more excited about announcements from MS of halo mp going f2p and supporting 120fps. That to me is what next gen is really about. Never in the history of television gaming has high fps been an option now they will bring it everywhere they can.
That's next gen that's game changing.
And even the Sony fanboys reading this story and being amazed at how their awesome title is made even better by having a 60 fps frame rate proves that it's definitely a move worth making.
I can't see the little extra detail in the middle of frantic battle but I sure can feel the instant response of high fps controls and crystal clear on screen movement.

Re: PS5 Teardown Video Gets Up Close and Personal with the Console
@flummerfelt you mean like xbox 360 did 15 years ago? Lol
Re: Ghost of Tsushima Looks Insane at 60 Frames-Per-Second
@AJDarkstar it's easily added in post but love realtime translation is nearly impossible and the impact on input lag would be nearly as bad.
Sony should be focusing on 60 fps as a starting point not hoping for tricks to reach it.
Re: Ghost of Tsushima Looks Insane at 60 Frames-Per-Second
@Lee71 oh it will happen for sure! Along with a new title that ends in REMASTERED
Oh and a new price tag (only 49.99!)
You know since Sony has now made sure 60 =70 and 40 = 50
Re: Ghost of Tsushima Looks Insane at 60 Frames-Per-Second
Re: Ghost of Tsushima Looks Insane at 60 Frames-Per-Second
@Netret0120 absolutely sites like PushSquare really prove that Sonys moves are perfectly reasonable to their most die hard fans who don't seem to understand the phrase "respecting the consumers investment."
Re: Ghost of Tsushima Looks Insane at 60 Frames-Per-Second
@wiiware you really going to not out it past Sony? Knowing what they've pulled this entire generation and are still continuing to do with ps5?
You will absolutely get a remaster there is no such thing as smart delivery with Sony.
They'll do it and you'll buy and they and you both know it.
Re: Spider-Man Creative Director Calls for Respect as PS5 Remaster Criticism Crosses the Line
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
@Repo_Dog FYI you CAN buy anything you want on gamepass its not FORCING you to only "rent" anything.
The point is in the FREEDOM to choose and Microsoft is the only one willing to be flexible.
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
@David187 Whats baffling is that you sony fanboys are still holding on to hope that Xbox doesn't take all their (good) toys and leave yall hanging.
Sure "case by case" basis will mean you get the ES card game or Fallout tactics and Minecraft but dont expect Starfield or ES: VI or Next Fallout Nor Doom the Third to be anywhere near your console. I play them all on PC (the proper place for all of them) so I couldn't care less I dont own any of them on my xbox or playstation but watching the sony die hards have a melt down has been pretty enjoyable.
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
@Kidfried I'm a Sony user as much as anyone (in fact I ONLY own Sony consoles) but I ain't some brainwashed fanboy either and I can point out the obvious and accept that Sony may not be so consumer friendly as others. They milk us like cattle and so many of you are happy to just stand there and take it. Not me. I'm at the very least going to voice my opinion online in hope that enough others wake up and realize it as well and MAYBE...make some kind of difference to get Sony to do better.
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
@jly1987 play anywhere means they have options for you to "play anywhere" as in they got you on mobile the got you in front of your TV in the living room and they got you at your desk and pc.
. They have ways for your to play their games on all places ie "play anywhere" they don't necessarily mean "play ON anything".
Look at how they've been using "play anywhere" up til now.... Xbox or PC now the branding adds mobile streaming with Xcloud.
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
@Kidfried hurt the brand? A game being exclusive has little to do with "hurting the brand" the thing it does is "cause jealousy and spite" maybe but the k lu thing that "hurts the brand" is for the game not to be of a solid quality. The fact is that if the game is really good its exclusivity will make its brand even more valuable and desirable.
The fact that some won't just be able to buy it won't hurt anything but Sony users ego or wallets.
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
@MattBoothDev yet it's on that Sony pays money to make sure that Xbox players can't use Spiderman in avengers or pays to keep final fantasy xvi away from them too. Not to mention how they bought out street fighter V a series that's been multi on everything for like 30+ years. Yea what this is is Sony reaping what they sow.
Dont try and act like they better Microsofts has just finally decided to stoop to their level.
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
@carlos82 a 10+ year old ps3 game and a ps4 dlc... Yes great stuff for sure!
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
@Arnna yea so why can't I play street fighter V on Xbox again? 30+ years of on everything and yet I can't for SOME REASON... Play it on Xbox.
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
@NorrinRadd it's absolutely petty you people act like these companies are your own family business or something and that some how you team enjoying and benefiting from a good solid game is irrelevant if it means at the same time your competitor benefits even in the slightest.
Kind of pathetic.
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
@Valhalla91 and you realize that's the whole point Microsoft has made hardware irrelevant to them and their biggest profits come from those they don't have to subsidize hardware to get them in. Go play it on your phone Microsoft absolutely prefers that to giving you a more expensive piece of hardware for sleds than cost price.
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
@TheArt problem is they don't have Microsoft money to play with this was nothing but a drop in the bucket for Microsoft.
Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5
@TheArt yea cause sunset overdrive wasn't one of the best Xbox exclusives of the last generation and street fighter hasn't been on everything for 30+ years.
You reap what you sow.
Re: The Dream Is Dead: PS5 Will Not Play PS3, PS2, or PS1 Games
Re: Reaction: PS5 Price Under Scrutiny After Disruptive Xbox Series S Reveal
Re: Reaction: PS5 Price Under Scrutiny After Disruptive Xbox Series S Reveal
@Falkirk4life it'd not trying to pretend it's a 4k console mp one hated on ps4 pro because it did 1440 they hated on it cause they called it 4k.
Ms is not mincing words amd has said it's a 1440p at beat console that will offer the ability to upres to 4k but it's not the same they aren't claiming 4k gaming still its 1440p at best.
Upscaling is something almost anything can do the internal resolution (or rendering resolution) is the one that matters.
Sony tried to spin it that it was 4k
Xbox series s is calling it what it is 1440 at best
That's why the difference in opinion.
Re: Reaction: PS5 Price Under Scrutiny After Disruptive Xbox Series S Reveal
@Exlee300p wow you sound literally like a or release from Sony lol
Grow up and stop buying into every single word of a pr statement.
Re: Reaction: PS5 Price Under Scrutiny After Disruptive Xbox Series S Reveal
@tameshiyaku 120 fps is absolutely no cash grab or bs. If you feel this way it tells me you don't have a 120 fps set nor have experienced it.
It's absolutely game changing and once you experience it and actually see your aiming improve you can never go back to 60 fps in that same game it fundamentally changes they way games feel and it's incredible especially for fps and other fast pace games.
You say this today but in a decade when you can actually get one you'll be singing a different tune.
Re: Kena: Bridge of Spirits Delayed to Early 2021 on PS5, PS4
Re: PS5 Comes with Display Stand, Other Box Contents Confirmed
Come on grow up.
Re: PS5 Comes with Display Stand, Other Box Contents Confirmed
Re: PS5 Comes with Display Stand, Other Box Contents Confirmed
@SirAngry you say your a developer how about some actual proof your work? Do you have a profile or even a LinkedIn?
Re: PS5 Comes with Display Stand, Other Box Contents Confirmed
Lol
Re: PS5 Comes with Display Stand, Other Box Contents Confirmed
@__jamiie you mean with or without "the growth" lol
Re: PS5 Comes with Display Stand, Other Box Contents Confirmed
@GamingFan4Lyf this most likely just comes down to timing most of the Xbox series x focused footage came much earlier before release when actual hardware wasn't really ready to show. Now that we are that much closer to launch and hardware is :wsicwllu done the ability to show games running on actual hardware is much more likely.
It's no conspiracy just hardware and software development time tables.
Most games over the years even at places like e3 would be running on a pc behind the scenes.
That's just how it goes.
You'll see marketing footage moving forward that's new and not focused on the series s itself will be running fine in series x hardware.
Re: PS5 Comes with Display Stand, Other Box Contents Confirmed
Re: Marvel's Avengers Rubs Salt in the Wound with Spider-Man Sticker on PS4 Box
@Netret0120 if only you knew what you were talking about how much better off we all would be.
Re: Marvel's Avengers Rubs Salt in the Wound with Spider-Man Sticker on PS4 Box
Re: Marvel's Avengers Rubs Salt in the Wound with Spider-Man Sticker on PS4 Box
@MaccaMUFC funny party too about the Sony 1st party exclusives needed for "system sellers" in fact only about 14.8%of ps4 console owners have actually bought (or gotten for free included with a bundle of their system itself.
120+ million consoles and only less than 15% even care about these so called system sellers.
What this tell me is in this next gen what's really going to be the driving factor is 1. Cost and 2. Performance 2a. Specifically the performance across the games people ACTUALLY buy consoles to play.
The fortnite
The cod
The fifa
The NBA/madden/etc
The other big cross platform massive games most people spend their time with these days.
Lol
Re: Marvel's Avengers Rubs Salt in the Wound with Spider-Man Sticker on PS4 Box
Re: Marvel's Avengers Rubs Salt in the Wound with Spider-Man Sticker on PS4 Box
Re: Hands On: Horizon Zero Dawn PC Is a Staggering Port, And a Potential Taste of PS5
Re: Hands On: Horizon Zero Dawn PC Is a Staggering Port, And a Potential Taste of PS5
@wiiware it'll end up being cheaper to replay it on your pc vs a ps5 "update" I promise you that.
Re: Hands On: Horizon Zero Dawn PC Is a Staggering Port, And a Potential Taste of PS5
@Weebleman yea see they COULD have done that and it WOULD be a big selling point they COULD have used
Re: Hands On: Horizon Zero Dawn PC Is a Staggering Port, And a Potential Taste of PS5
@Weebleman yea for ghosts it's probably how the game looked in the first trailer they put out and then didn't deliver on.
Makes sense for them to hold something back for next gen "re-purchase" I mean "remaster".
Re: Hands On: Horizon Zero Dawn PC Is a Staggering Port, And a Potential Taste of PS5
@AJDarkstar update of most definitely!!
Free???.... Um
You realize this is Sony were talking about right?
Re: Hands On: Horizon Zero Dawn PC Is a Staggering Port, And a Potential Taste of PS5
