I get when leadership leaves after a release, but this far before? Something is really wrong here. Either Sony insisted on changes she wasn’t ecstatic about or the game was not in a good state when shown to them and they held her accountable.
Either way it’s a bad look. In other news, hey! Bungie stealing art again! Whee!
Good, stop shoveling stuff out. Also let’s just, yknow, kill the live service pipeline. I get that Ubisoft wants a hit but unlike other companies they haven’t had ANY live service hits. Division 2 was close but Ubisoft themselves said it didn’t meet expectations. Skull and Bones is…well, its title is apt.
@Nakatomi_Uk South Park did this dance two decades ago! The answer is no, doubtful. There aren’t many people who want to manufacture these things and there aren’t enough factories to keep up with demand as it is. There would need to be new buildings, new laws, etc to accommodate that kind of surge in domestic manufacturing. It’s not feasible in the short term. Long term, perhaps, but you’ll have a lot of pushback from people who don’t want huge factories popping up near them.
@Porco the sad thing is Canada got a price increase and even so the US still escaped it. A price increase on the US will spike our prices even more, so it’s frustrating how when the US gets into hot water everyone else suffers.
@Dudditz09 same here. Bought a game on ps5 in a drunken stupor last night and went “well that was dumb, I should have done that on PC”. I want to love the ps5, I’ve been a fan since the ps3. But I’m not able to just ignore the issues with the ecosystem and the decisions making it problematic. I’ve got other responsibilities now and I don’t even have kids or a wife! Can’t imagine how little I’ll care when that happens!
@heavyartillery56 as an American, this is a very unreasonable take. The US is making horrendous decisions and if other countries don’t want to negotiate and just avoid business with them then that’s 100% their fault. Lack of accountability is annoying as all get out, whether from individuals or countries.
I was a little intrigued by this one when it was first revealed but I have a one Gacha rule, and I won’t break away from Wuthering Waves for this one. Kuro has earned my respect for being insanely free to play friendly, and I’m happy to throw some money at them here and there. For a gacha game it’s both user friendly and very well designed. The studio behind this one just doesn’t have a great track record.
While it sounds great, it’s unfortunately not a major improvement as the issue currently stems from developers unable to optimize games to the extent that I question whether they know what toilet paper is. My support for studios has waned considerably this generation, even if the general consensus is publisher deadlines being the crux of the issue.
@yazzika she doesn’t look cool at all. She doesn’t have hair long enough hair to pull and clearly doesn’t have massive triple E knockers in a low cut top. /s
But seriously, that’s basically the gist of most of the dislikes. Until the game actually shows gameplay (not the whole “it’s gameplay” claim when it’s first revealed, that’s baloney) I’ll reserve my judgment. In the meantime, if Tati wants to stay out of the social media landscape then maybe stay out of it. Can’t say you’re staying out of it when you’re, y’know, giving public commentary.
I purchased early access at launch then refunded due to the instability, especially given the game doesn’t require internet. Every major patch they remove QoL features, change the game entirely save for the art style and story, or just add something that makes it even less fun. The recent update (made things very clunky and sludgy, not methodical like it was) and the insistence that they’ll change leveling up because people don’t get it (we do get it, you’re just not good at balancing) makes it seem like bad leadership. If it makes it to full release I’ll give it a whirl again, but until then I’m staying back.
As for his little tantrum here, that’s pretty much all it is. You’re the CEO of a developer, you of all people should know that bad reviews don’t kill a studio. Bad decisions and reactions do.
@PlatinumMikey with these hikes and the state of games on release I can’t even guarantee I’ll still have my ps5 by the time this one comes out. I genuinely am getting too old for this cancer carousel. Got bills to pay.
To put it into perspective, an 80 dollar release in the US is 110 in Canada before tax. Our taxes are pretty high so it’s 125 roughly for the base edition.
I feel like this is going to result in far more complaints from publishers about games performing below expectations.
@KundaliniRising333 glad to see I’m not the only one with this mindset. To be clear how bad it is, Sony refunded me after 66 hours played AND after the 14 day period. I’m sorry but the game is in bad shape, and it kills me due to how much I loved Oblivion back in the day. Also, despite the insane number of sales check out the trophy list and how many people had actually gotten to the later quests. Very few have, presumably due to the memory leak.
Legitimately just playing WoW. I honestly have been bored with PlayStation since the reality of Monster Hunter’s content drought has set in, and I’m just waiting for Nightreign. I’m one of those people that has been less and less enthusiastic about gaming as time goes on as I don’t see it as beneficial to buy a hundred dollar game for 30 hours of content, much of which is just minigames or random “walk from a to b while npc delivers exposition “. As prices increase, the value of games has diminished for me. But all the power to those who just keep going, just feeling the effects of age.
Also waiting for Clair obscur but the shortage of physical copies has kind of killed my interest. Local store are being camped by resellers so I’m just kinda done.
@GabrielBacakPS the difference is that for all their mistakes over the years, Square knows how to take it on the chin. Their mistakes are owned up to and addressed more or less.
Nintendo just throws legal temper tantrums, which have gotten worse over the last couple of years.
@GabrielBacakPS Microsoft: buy out companies because we can’t compete but we’ll struggle with our gaming division anyway
Sony: let’s chase trends and waste money buying a messily run studio (bungie) and then act like we were victims of gamers being more picky
Nintendo: Let’s prevent competition by patenting everything we can while we make sure the franchise that the patents revolve around is spiraling downhill.
It just shows how idiotic some of the leadership decisions are. Out of touch entirely, and amusingly makes even EA look relatively good in the current landscape.
This combined with the switch 2 pricing and overall business model has me second guessing my interest and passion for anything Nintendo. Somehow in the last two years all public good will has been thrown in an incinerator with them and I don’t see how they believe it’s good for business at all. Especially since, as a lifelong Pokemon fan, the franchise is in the crapper. It’s BAD, getting rid of Ash, releasing broken games and just not caring about quality to any extent.
@Grumblevolcano agreed, and this is surely a calculated decision. There’s larger profit margins for digital sales because it cuts out the middle man e.g. the supplier.
It’s important to note that much of the drop off is seemingly deliberate, as many games releasing have large consumer base that wants physical but a lack of actual supply of said copies. I’m one of them. Not having a lot of physical copies produced (dynasty warriors origins, shadows, etc) will of course lead to less physical sales.
Haven’t ever gotten into GTA but this piqued my interest. That said it definitely is not a day one buy for me, the sole reason being the apparent stutter in the trailer. If it’s captured on PS5 and not active gameplay (cutscenes) that stutter is a big red flag for me. Hopefully just a kink in the process, they probably had to put this trailer together quickly given the timeframe of the delay announcement. But I’m still wary.
@Keyblade-Dan I said this when Elden ring came out due to some of the design choices. Still love it but I saw this coming a mile away, and people thought I was crazy. Happens to us all, at some point we become jaded and just sort of shuffle along with the rest. Still, for a beloved developer to do it seems to sting more.
I got 66 hours in before the crashing became so frequent that I had to chance it and to my surprise Sony refunded it. That is not normal, so I’m sure there are a lot of people struggling here. It breaks my heart because I love oblivion, and have always said Skyrim was a major step backwards and will still die on that hill.
But holy moly, this is OG Skyrim levels of instability. It really is not reasonable at all, and I’m patiently waiting for a patch to fix it so I can jump back in.
Still haven’t played it because I’m waiting for a physical copy. If that never happens then, well, no buy. It’s a shortage obviously due to them not expecting the reception but still a frustration. Glad the game is succeeding.
The beta saw me having more fun than in Elden Ring itself. Keep in mind I’m clocking in at about 1000 hours now in that one. Movement is better, and it fits the combat of Elden ring much nicer.
Elden ring had balancing issues from day one but this seems to be the nice match with enemy and player movement I’ve been wanting. As to whether or not it maintains relevance, that’s a hard one to answer since it more or less requires multiplayer for the best experience.
The crashes when I’m streaming it are frustrating all get out, doesn’t help that ps5 forces the broadcast to end when a game closes. But in all likelihood this is down to Sonys annoyingly stringent vetting process, highly unlikely they didn’t bother to submit it to them.
Three months is a long time when you’re within 30 days of launch. At that point suppliers have already started to confirm stock expectations, so this is now a pass and wait for a sale. This isn’t a good look.
Well this was my tipping point. If anyone in the gta wants a ps5 pro bundle I’m on kijiji. I’m done with this console, time to kit out my PC and call it a day.
Saying it’ll be full price (not 70 doesn’t make a difference when your statement is so vague), have a battle pass and three maps at launch is not a good impression. Not full price could mean 40 sure, but then a battle pass requires purchase separately presumably. For what it’s worth, three maps (four if it is indeed added to shortly after launch) isn’t a bad thing as some games have even less. But bungie also has a controversial reputation to contend with, and good will from some players may not be wise to rely on. I hope it succeeds because I enjoyed Destiny before it went off the rails, but dang this looks rough.
Good! It’s my favorite genre, and frankly if the Switch 2 situation remains silent with respect to the pre order and pricing I’ll be viewing PlayStation as my major rpg station. Gone are the days of brand loyalty, give me a reason to invest and I’ll go for it. Claire Obsur looks gorgeous!
@Nalim which studios do you know of that actually get paid a portion of sales? Royalties, I know what they are, but if publishers are setting targets that are simply unattainable and regularly declare they didn’t meet them, then do the developers make anything off sales? They’re paid to develop by their employer, but royalties are if they exceed targets. If they aren’t exceeding targets then how is piracy impacting them at all? I’m very apathetic to the state of the industry but I also want to have a clear picture of possible impacts piracy has as I still haven’t dabbled in over a decade. No intention to in the short term either, but one can’t really argue that it directly hurts developers if they aren’t meeting their parent company’s targets anyway. Not talking about small studios, by the way. I won’t even pirate their games come hell or high water, they’re also the only ones making quality stuff most of the time.
@KingPev it really is, I’m aware. It’s just a matter of matching equally ridiculous reasoning and practices from the publishers and platform holders. The whole “it failed because of not being alive service”, “it failed because gamers expect too much”, etc. maybe it failed because it wasn’t a good game and people don’t trust your studio from past experiences which results in less sales. There are many factors, but if you can’t stop telling your customers they’re wrong for not wanting to keep giving you money, showing them time and again that you understand nothing then at what point does a customer just say “forget it” and stop caring? I’m not paying your wages, I’m buying a product that may not be perfect but I expect to get what I was sold.
That’s the saddest part of it, developers are hurt because of decisions out of their hands and no one wants to defend them anymore because the knock on effect taints the consumers opinion of a brand so badly that they become apathetic to it.
I still play it regularly but have no hope for an expansion. If there is, depending on the market conditions when it releases I may wind up skipping it. Games are too expensive to grab three or four releases in a month, and if the increase to 110 CAD becomes a reality I’ll very seriously consider ditching console forever and just sailin the high seas drinking whisky. If you catch my drift.
I’ll be honest, I was prepared to fork over for a preorder (713 CAD after tax) but with the delay my interest is waning. If it becomes available at the same price point, great, but 700 pre tax is where I give up and just move on. .
It’s very much worth playing and frankly the 45 CAD price tag easily gets you your moneys worth. That being said, I definitely don’t recommend it if you aren’t into very grindy games and dont like to number crunch. It’s not for everyone, think of it like a more complex Diablo. For better or worse.
@Damage99 oh I know haha. Had to scroll up to find the post you were replying to but couldn’t resist giving my two cents.
FFIX remake was rumoured to be a switch 2 launch title but, well, that came and went. I think there’s going to be more shadow drops in the future, the marketing hype just kind of winds up being offputting for some. This month I’m very eager to play Expedition 33, though.
@Damage99 I mean it’s Bethesda. I know Virtuos is developing it, but can you really not expects base game to be 59 and complete with all the dlc and horse armor for 99?
People forget this game was the one that started it all. Patient Zero. But hey, I’ll be happy to use Shadowmere as my personal storage container again.
@Sensechat PlayStation games run me 102 after tax at their current height, Canadian of course. Switch 2 will obviously compete with PlayStation purchases, I’m not going to be investing equally. Gaming was always a cheap hobby, nowadays not so much. Frankly it’s just catching up to other hobbies.
@ATaco agreed. It’s also marvel rivals that resulted in overwatch getting much needed changes. Not my usual cup of tea but I’ve enjoyed a few matches in rivals when I’m just bored and don’t really want to invest in a big session.
@MaelysSedisia thanks for clarifying. While I much prefer my own custom character I can understand this and have a bit more interest, as I am genuinely fine with picking an archetype more or less and building off of it.

Re: Oblivion PS5 Remake Rumours Are Relentless, Claims of April Shadow Drop
@Damage99 oh I know haha. Had to scroll up to find the post you were replying to but couldn’t resist giving my two cents.
FFIX remake was rumoured to be a switch 2 launch title but, well, that came and went. I think there’s going to be more shadow drops in the future, the marketing hype just kind of winds up being offputting for some. This month I’m very eager to play Expedition 33, though.
Re: Oblivion PS5 Remake Rumours Are Relentless, Claims of April Shadow Drop
@Damage99 I mean it’s Bethesda. I know Virtuos is developing it, but can you really not expects base game to be 59 and complete with all the dlc and horse armor for 99?
People forget this game was the one that started it all. Patient Zero. But hey, I’ll be happy to use Shadowmere as my personal storage container again.
Re: Almost All PS5 Fans Are Against $80 Games
@Sensechat PlayStation games run me 102 after tax at their current height, Canadian of course. Switch 2 will obviously compete with PlayStation purchases, I’m not going to be investing equally. Gaming was always a cheap hobby, nowadays not so much. Frankly it’s just catching up to other hobbies.
Re: Almost All PS5 Fans Are Against $80 Games
Price increases are inevitable at this point. I’ve just had to adjust to it, honestly. I do buy less now, and that’s been healthy anyway.
Re: Bungie's Marathon PS5 Game Taking Over PlayStation Social Media Pages
@ATaco agreed. It’s also marvel rivals that resulted in overwatch getting much needed changes. Not my usual cup of tea but I’ve enjoyed a few matches in rivals when I’m just bored and don’t really want to invest in a big session.
Re: Bungie's Marathon PS5 Game Taking Over PlayStation Social Media Pages
@MaelysSedisia thanks for clarifying. While I much prefer my own custom character I can understand this and have a bit more interest, as I am genuinely fine with picking an archetype more or less and building off of it.
