Re: Tifa's Eternal Appeal Down to More than Just Appearance, Says Tetsuya Nomura

Coffeeglitch

@RagnarLothbrok a lot of people these days seem to really be afraid of saying a woman is attractive, beautiful etc. They use all these other words because they don’t want to be offensive, but come on, what woman is offended at being called beautiful? If you’re leering and being creepy while saying it, sure, she’ll be bothered. But sheesh, I’ve never been told by a woman “I’m not beautiful I’m strong!” or “Don’t call me pretty or hot”.

Also, Tifa is pixels on a screen. It’s fine to say she’s attractive but if you’re comparing her to real people a therapist visit is in order.

Re: Tifa's Eternal Appeal Down to More than Just Appearance, Says Tetsuya Nomura

Coffeeglitch

@DennisReynolds this is exactly my stance. Yeah she’s a kind hearted and strong character that snaps Cloud of some sulking moments. But to act like it’s not her looks, cutesy expressions and jiggly movements is just an insult to the creator. He designed a character people find attractive AND likeable after thirty years! Be proud of that! It’s nothing to be ashamed of.

Re: Ubisoft Will Reportedly Fight for Assassin's Creed Shadows, Anti-Harassment Plan in Place

Coffeeglitch

While there’s always a concern over them pursuing litigation over bad reviews, the sheer amount of death threats issued by deranged basement dwellers is really out of control. You can dislike a game, person, etc but be an adult. I usually would be excessively vulgar when it comes to this kind of topic but I’d rather not get banned here!

Behave, be nice to people while still voicing your opinions. Not challenging.

Re: Saints Row Team Thrown Under the Bus: 'They Didn't Know What They Were Building'

Coffeeglitch

I honestly understand what this guys saying, though his choice of words is poor. Saber split from embracer who were just throwing everything at the wall and killing whatever didn’t stick. My issue with saints row is that it felt like a mish mash of many games like GTA, but not in a good way. I was reminded of the horrible smartphone copycats of GTA, but this was full price.

I get it, but there is no way I’m defending his words here. He’s talking like someone who generally hasn’t had much human interaction.

Re: PS5 Console Exclusive Star Wars Game Is Still Alive Allegedly

Coffeeglitch

Long have I lost any hope for this one to see the light of the day. It was bad enough that the one writer was having a meltdown on social media and seemingly slandering the studio, but the sheer amount of time that has passed and the fact that Saber is getting really big, really fast (space marine 3 announced when space marine 2 is still lacking some major features) just makes me think it may be biting off more than it can chew. Would like it to be released but man, talk about developmental hell. Still, Dead Island 2 finally made it out and was amazing so who knows?

Re: The Last of Us-Themed PS5 Controller Available to Pre-Order Now

Coffeeglitch

If it didn’t have all the branding and wasn’t 110 bucks in Canada (even the anniversary controller was 100) Id get one. Love the color scheme but I do not and never have cared for the Last of Us franchise. I know that’s what a lot of people say to just be contrarian, but I genuinely don’t have interest even though I absolutely respect its popularity, quality and story. It’s a great franchise, just not for me.

Re: No Rest for the Wicked Remains Stunning in Extended Gameplay Update

Coffeeglitch

@Clytorial_Impact I think it’s generally a matter of implementation. The first path of exile also came to PlayStation the same day as poe2, so presumably there was a degree of “may as well have both.” Early access is also not often liked, as while this announcement was certainly pretty great and the response has positive, the game has been in a pretty rough spot for the last year. The last update added very little and wasn’t generally well received, and there are plenty of issues with optimization as well.

That being said, I’d love to see more early access titles on PlayStation as some of them are so amazing that I want to support but feel they’d better suit a format from the couch. Kristala is a great example, if you haven’t checked that out on steam I highly recommend it.

Re: Ubisoft Shareholder Irate Over French Firm's Failure to Disclose IP Acquisition Discussions with Microsoft, EA, and Others

Coffeeglitch

Couple things here. One, I completely understand the anger from shareholders at the diminished value of the company. Two, this particular shareholder sounds a bit unhinged. I don’t know too much about laws for this kind of thing, but Ubisoft doesn’t have to disclose talks with potential buyers do they? I know they do have a tendency to lie to their shareholders, but in this instance I feel like they aren’t wrong to not disclose this. Can someone enlighten me here?

Re: Rise of the Ronin Would Not Have Been Made Without Sony

Coffeeglitch

@UltimateOtaku91 having less staying power (people playing after release window) apparently amounts to failure according to some people. A failure would be concord, this game was wildly successful. It was released as is, complete. It was mean to played through once or twice, enjoyed, platinumed by huge fans (I didn’t platinum this one but enjoyed it greatly) and moved on from. That’s not a failure, that’s a studio understanding their purpose in making a video game: it’s a form of entertainment to be enjoyed and then graduated from. Games that are mostly single player and have major staying power, like Skyrim or Elden ring, despite being well known are an anomaly. They weren’t designed to accomplish that, they were just so good that they accomplished more than their developers anticipated.

Re: Rise of the Ronin Would Not Have Been Made Without Sony

Coffeeglitch

As rough around the edges as the game was, it was the first Team Ninja title that I legitimately noticed major improvements in controls, physics and fluidity in. I’ve been critical of their engine for many years but this game was genuinely a major leap forward. While it’s difficult to go back to due to the leaps since in other games, it absolutely deserves a playthrough.

Re: Intergalactic PS5 Game All About Faith, Religion, and 'Being Lonely'

Coffeeglitch

@themightyant this is the general dialogue when someone doesn’t like someone or something. They don’t like it, but given that’s just their opinion they try and come up with a bigger reason that their views are valid. They must be a fascist, must be racist, must be a Zionist (that term is just annoying and I’m tired of hearing it).

Don’t engage, honestly. It’s an argument made by people who have no argument to make. Enjoy the game. If you don’t like it, there are other games to play.

Re: Intergalactic PS5 Game All About Faith, Religion, and 'Being Lonely'

Coffeeglitch

I’ll be honest, the reveal looked really good and interesting. But somehow, in some bizarre way, hearing Druckmann talk about it makes me less excited. It just constantly feels like he’s smoking a joint made of his own excrement. I’m tired of this guy being such a pretentious and cocky rep for the studio. I know he’s the director, but man, it makes me want to avoid his games.

Re: PS5 Pro Hands Assassin's Creed Shadows 3 Exclusive Graphics Modes

Coffeeglitch

I’m very very happy to see this. While I’m sure it’s not a simple thing to implement, the 2160 mode with 40 fps and RT on Monster Hunter is exceptional and frequently hangs above or slightly below 60 uncapped. This needs to be standard, except for Fromsoft who get a special needs exemption with respect to optimization.

Re: Prepare 107GB of Space for Assassin's Creed Shadows on PS5

Coffeeglitch

@DennisReynolds agreed with you. They’ve released less than stellar entries for sure, Valhalla had way too much bloat but I still sunk a good 300 hours or so. It was a good “relax and just wander around and bonk people” game. Most of my issues, again, stem from leadership and mishandling of PR coupled with witnessing a lot of the misogyny within Ubisoft firsthand. So I’m not a fan of leadership but their devs do work hard and don’t deserve the harassment they often get.

Re: Prepare 107GB of Space for Assassin's Creed Shadows on PS5

Coffeeglitch

@UltimateOtaku91 I’ve actually been really, genuinely surprised by the recent showings. Im a big skeptic after the last few years of this company, but the game looks really good. I love monster hunter, love Elden ring, all that jazz. But sometimes I just want a chill game with a passable narrative to explore, kill enemies and get cool stuff. This looks like it’ll scratch that itch super well, so I’ve put my preorder in with my buddy. I’m down.

Re: Prepare 107GB of Space for Assassin's Creed Shadows on PS5

Coffeeglitch

@heavyartillery56 by that metric fromsoft should have been closed after demons souls. Make no mistake it was a very niche game with a small following but enough to get the green light for Dark Souls. Financial success isn’t the only factor.

While I often view specific individuals as toxic to a developer and advocate for their removal, closing an entire studio is scorched earth and done far too lightly these days. I’d support any initiative that sees the Guilemott family dumped from their positions but that’s because ubisofts biggest problem stems from leadership. Investors are a great window into how and why a company is successful or not, as they care very little for simply getting their moneys worth and more for the consistency of that money.

Re: Poll: So, Is Monster Hunter Wilds 'Too Easy'?

Coffeeglitch

@ATaco I see people cart quite a bit on tempered Rey dau, but usually because they just aren’t very good or not buffed properly. I’ve only failed two hunts or so in HR after 60 hours, so definitely easier. But not enough to really complain, we still don’t have arch tempered or elder dragons. Keep in mind outside of fatalis or alatreon, a lot of the carts in World were related to status effects. Vaal hazaak was super fun to solo because I knew I had full control.

Re: Poll: So, Is Monster Hunter Wilds 'Too Easy'?

Coffeeglitch

@ATaco oh I have that one 24/7, called shockproof oddly. But brace level 3 somehow doesn’t stop knockbacks at all which tend to make combos very difficult at times depending on the monsters choice of movement. Either it’s broken or they changed the way it works and I just need to adapt. Either way it’s a nitpick. Loving the game!

Re: Poll: So, Is Monster Hunter Wilds 'Too Easy'?

Coffeeglitch

Currently HR 117 and while combat feels a bit easier (largely due to the new targeting system), my biggest issue is honestly just some minor kinks in how abilities work now. I could swear the flinch free skill is not working, and some of the skills just don’t seem to trigger as they should. Either way, loving every moment and excited for the future.

Re: PlayStation Struck by More Layoffs in the Aftermath of Multiple Cancelled PS5 Games

Coffeeglitch

@wiiware at risk of getting political, the reason for this is that Asian cultures prioritize function over feelings or sentiment. There’s a reason work ethic amongst Asian communities is so dang good, they simply don’t care about whether something is going to disrupt social norms but rather care about the efficiency of their duties and quality of their work. The west has become overly sensitive and sentimental, and that’s why there’s so much social commentary in games these days.

It’s not a bad thing, but I want to enjoy games as an aside to real life. Not to somehow fall prey to talk no jutsu. A good developer produces good results, which means happy consumers who will buy their product, resulting in a better developer by way of profits. Rinse and repeat.

Asian markets understand this. The west seems to have forgotten that. If your product doesn’t sell well, it’s not because people hate you personally. It’s because your product wasn’t good enough. So do better.

Re: PlayStation Struck by More Layoffs in the Aftermath of Multiple Cancelled PS5 Games

Coffeeglitch

@wiiware that’s also largely the fault of western devs. The rise in social media megaphones being provided to unhinged developers (that Starfield guy comes to mind), the surge in live service garbage that gets canned before a year, etc all led to a void in the market that used to be filled by those same studios. Of course China, Korea, etc will see it as a golden opportunity. I’ve no love for AI, granted, and china has no issue abusing that but these games are looking really good.

Re: PlayStation Struck by More Layoffs in the Aftermath of Multiple Cancelled PS5 Games

Coffeeglitch

@RoomWithaMoose I agree with all of your points. That being said, Jimmy legitimately loves being a sociopath that walks over people while acting like his life is a burden. There’s no drive to retire because even his complaints are veiled mockeries of people who aren’t as successful as him. He’s a jerk, and people who idolize him remind me of Jonestown. Not that Jimmy is crazy enough to do that.

Re: Tencent Increases Stake in FromSoftware Parent, Closing the Gap on Sony

Coffeeglitch

@breakneck ended up being a waste of money too, since the live service initiative is well and dead despite what they may say. The only one worth it was arrowhead and hilariously HD2 wasn’t even part of that push, it just happened to be a great game that people enjoy. That’s how it should be done.

I was amused when they announced the share increase relative to the buyout price, because had they not bought Bungie, Firewalk, Haven etc they could have bought Kadokawa several times over.
