It's been said a few times now that the Marvel's Spider-Man series, developed by Insomniac Games, has had some impact on the movies.
Now, Tom Holland, who plays Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Marvel films, has spoken more about his thoughts on how they have influenced Brand New Day, the latest big screen adventure.
On the red carpet at the movie's premiere, IGN asked if there was something from the games that he really wanted to bring into the superhero flick.
"A lot of the finishing moves," responds Holland.
"I was actually playing the game last night. Couldn't sleep last night, I was so excited about today. Just trying to figure out what I was going to do, and I was like, I'm just gonna throw the game on and have some fun. And yeah, for me, a lot of those finishing moves... A lot of our stuff was influenced by that stuff."
This echoes what has been said previously by the film's director, Destin Daniel Cretton, who told Polygon that the games were a "great influence" on Brand New Day.
Apparently, people in the stunt team would take screenshots of certain moves in the games and bring them in to see if they could pull them off.
It seems like fans of the Spidey games should keep their eyes peeled for finishers popping up in the film.
The character's new suit in Brand New Day was recently added to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (in addition to the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls rendition), so a bit of the film is in the games as well.

Been pretty off Marvel, but Spider-Man: Brand New Day looks great, will try and catch it at the cinema before holidays.

Marvel fatigue hit me hard. Havent watched much of Hollands spiderman movies so I'll skip this one. I'll also be skipping wolverine. While I love Wolverine I'm just burnt out of Marvel stuff. Maybe at a later date I'll give it a go.
It’s a brilliant game 2 how it flows, just wrapped it up last night. Absolutely cram-packed action expensive production of course but then apparently GTA is a couple of bil 😮💨
Fatigue can most certainly cause people to skip out on great things. Watching Marvel in the theatre used to be a major event for my friend group. Now, we go when we can and talk about it over WhatsApp.
Fatigue has caused me to not like stuff vampires and stuff about aliens. I feel like right now I’m getting “cowboy fatigue” with all the cowboy stuff that’s out there that I’ve been watching.
Spiderman moves and fights like spiderman how insightful where would we be without this gem of information?

Super hero fatigue is real.
Insomniac have really come up with a definitive version of Spiderman in terms of movement etc imo. Of course, they will have had their influences, and I have no doubt they have in turn taken some influences from the recent films (for the more recent games of course).
Watching some previous Marvel releases to get me up to date for Doomsday. In 2022 or 2023, I had previously checked out after the two piece garbage combo of Love & Thunder and Quantumania. Missed Wakanda Forever, Guardians 3 (apparently amazing), Daredevil Born Again (love the Netflix seasons 1-3), The Marvels, Echo, Loki S2 (S1 was amazing).
I did get sucked back in with Brave New World, Thunderbolts and F4. The latter two were actually very good.
I don't believe in fatigue. If it is good, it is good. Marvel was releasing what one can only categorise as slop, maybe even AI slop for a good 2-3 years. That has damaged them beyond repair I fear. Multiverse of Madness hit almost $1bil and it was very very flawed. F4 should have hit that yet it couldn't.
Brand New Day will obviously hit $1bil, it is Spider-Man after all. But I worry for Doomsday, without much setup, inflated egos, questionable recent CGI, fragmented plots and too many characters. Infinity War was the perfect Marvel movie, Endgame was a lot worse but still good. I fear Doomsday will be more of an Endgame.
As an aside, why did they not just feature Doom in F4 apart from the credits scene. Would have at least meant there was a bit of a setup. Also if Secret Wars does follow through with a reboot, that means RDJ as Doom continues, which I don't love. Doom showing up or appearing when unexpected is so cool in the comics, Marvel's issue in the last few years is that it feels so segmented. I can't see them convincing RDJ to show up in random movies unless it is a big item.
Can’t wait to catch it come Friday. Super Hero/Marvel fatigue be damn. Nothing but a mindset.
Looking forward to picking up the blu ray. I’m an avid Marvel/comic fan and I feel like the MCU is hitting the sweet compromise so I am still pretty keen on the movies and shows. I guess this is my nudge to finish spiderman 2.
Just got out from the theatre and for me this is possibly Tom Holland best spidey movie. It reminds me of Tobey Spidey 2 which is my favorite Spidey movie.
