On one hand, I like the way they do the open world stuff, with foxes or birds or fireflies organically leading you to points of interest as you explore.
On the other hand, I think the side quest design in Yotei is pretty terrible. They’re all a bunch of samey copy/paste “Go here & deal w the ambush that breaks out as soon as you arrive” quests w no variety.
It’s particularly glaring bc Tsushima had the best side quests I’ve ever seen, the way they were integrated into like allied NPC chains that progressed upon each other. The side quests in GoT felt like extensions of the main story, but Yotei is a step back.
About 36 hours in & Im really enjoying it. The combat is definitely improved. The game’s “presentation” is superb. At first, I thought the story was a bit of a downgrade, bit I hafta say Im digging it the more I play!
Maybe later on sale. I want to play it. But if Ive never played it in 28 years, Im not gonna drop everything to go out and spend $50 on it. I already bought Yotei this week, to play this weekend.
I’m surprised they’re charging $25 for the DLC. DLCs have gotten really expensive the last few years, with companies charging like $25-40 for an experience that’s often 25% (or less) the length of the main game. Glad I got this for free on the preorder bonus.
I've been getting fatigued on ACs lately (although Shadows was very good) and not in the moon to play any others, but I would probably jump back in for this, hope it's good.
Maybe instead of directing sour grapes at Team Cherry, this dev team could’ve made a better game, with more interesting combat, less grating sound design, etc. Then maybe the game would’ve sold better, too.
This game seems to move in a direction farther and farther away from my interest with each passing month; I'm glad I didn't fall for the hype. Oh well, no biggie, but it makes me wonder about the future of FromSoft for me.
Accessibility settings and allowing users to customize their difficulty/experience is one of the best trends in modern gaming, as far as I’m concerned. Never really been into NG, but this sounds great.
I’m not 100% sure what to think of this, but am patient to give the devs time to cook something new up. E33 was lightning in a freaking bottle. It will be hard to follow it up, but maybe they pull it off again. Would prob take a fair amount of time either way. A game as amazing as E33 (in all regards) doesn’t just plop itself out.
Paradox is like the most toxic publisher in the industry and is infamous for predatory DLC practices, so this whole debacle is no surprise. IDK if I had any interest here, but it’s zero now.
Hard for me to understand why PSPro users aren’t able to choose between a Prioritize Graphics vs. Prioritize Performance mode… (as is the case for base-model PS5 users)
@elvisfan1 Check other websites, but basically the same as the og. You’re probably looking at two playthrus, one for the collectibles and one for Big Boss or Foxhound rank (I forget what it’s called). If you are familiar with the game, you could possibly do it in one, but I prefer two for sanity / enjoyment. Not a long game anyway.
This is what I expected. I just played the og last month, so I’m not in a hurry to pay $70 to do it again. Might grab like a year from now on sale, but I got plenty else to keep me busy this fall.
I enjoyed it a lot (not as much as E33). Hoping next month’s DLC provides story continuation/closure because act 3 was pathetically weak/nonexistent. But the 85 hours I played prior to act 3 were great.
@KoopaTheGamer I can answer your question (to balaam) about why would it matter if demo trophies are unlocked? There are a lot of users who don’t like their platinum profile to include a bunch of 5% trophy progress games. Once you unlock the first trophy to a game, you can’t hide it from your profile any longer.
Is it just me or is the "rating" feature either completely missing or hidden somewhere on the mobile app storefront?
Let me give an example, there was a cheap knockoff Schedule I game that launched on PS5 last month with a 1.4/5 rating, which is prominently displayed on the game's webpage and probably enough to dissuade potential buyers from falling for the trap. But where is this on the mobile app? Hell, how do I even rate any of the games that I play on PS5? I'm not aware of how to do this easily on the app nor the PS5 console menu...
@James_42 If you ask me, the success of Nightreign is a bit mystifying given how they basically recycled all of the worst possible bosses from their back catalogue that no one wants to re-fight anyway.
“The structure can be frustrating because if you stray from your mission markers, you’ll often be told to return to the objective otherwise you’ll instantly fail.”
Oh god, I just played SW Outlaws and it was terrible about this! You’d get an objective to return to the planet and then the game would instantly fail you when you flew into the planet to land. So frustrating!
I mean we’ve also reached that point of the year (Q3) where it’s like why buy anything on release at full price? when all of these games will be like 25% off in three months for the holidays.

Re: Pay $150 for a Ghost of Yotei Jacket in Sony's 'Rewards' Scheme Update
Suppose this lasts about as long as Concord
Re: Shameless Clones of Viral Hit Games Like Megabonk Continue to Plague PS Store
Yeah there are multiple fake Schedule 1 games on the PS Store as well.
Re: PS Plus Essential Subscribers Bemoan 'Crap Selection' in Latest Update
Who cares, I don’t expect EVERY month to be a banger. Gives me a chance to focus on my backlog, etc.
Re: Poll: Vote for Your PS5 Game of the Month (October 2025)
Voted Ball X Pit b/c Yotei is gonna win anyway. Enjoyed both games a lot!
Also I’m surprised no Tormented Souls 2 as a choice in the poll.
Re: Think PS Plus Essential's Monthly Games Are Getting Worse? The Data Shows You're Wrong
I think I played at least one of the games in 10 of the last 12 months going backwards. No complaints here
Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for November 2025?
One of the only misses all year long honestly. We had a lot of strong months in 2025.

Already started it this morning before work! Been looking forward to this all year

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for October 2025?
I played AW2 already, but Cocoon is the perfect kinda game for PS Plus for me.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Silent Hill F?
Nope, watched a bit on twitch, but the game seemed dull and the combat repetitive.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Patch 1.011 Out Now, Adds New Quest, Level 100 Cap, Time Skip, and More
@graymamba Saw the new DLC trophy list go live earlier, and I didn’t see a new trophy for L100 (just the old one for L80 still) so maybe we’re spared.
Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Patch 1.1.1 Out Tomorrow, Adds New Quest, 100 Level Cap, Time Skip, and More
L100 oh god the trophy hunters are gonna be mad. People were already fuming that the difference btw L60 and L80 is like 20+ hours of XP grinding.
Re: Sorry Cyberpunk 2077 Fans, This Week's Announcement Isn't About DLC or Updates

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Metal Gear Solid Delta?
No interest in a $70 graphical remaster for a game I've already played/beaten on PS5.

Boy they're desperate to milk this cash grab for all it's worth.

I was once interested in this game, until I realized it’s like a 150-hour commitment. Good value for the money tho, I guess.
Re: Konami Wants to 'Consider Lots of Other Games' for Remake Treatment if MGS Delta Succeeds
Based on what I’ve seen of Delta so far, I don’t see any reason to shell out $70, and I don’t expect it to do particularly well.
