Elden Ring Nightreign PS5 PS4

On top of its base difficulty and the Everdark Sovereign fights, Elden Ring Nightreign will become an even tougher game next month with the introduction of a new hard mode.

Available from 11th September 2025 in a free update, Deep of Night will be "a high-difficulty challenge mode designed for seasoned players who have navigated through the Night many times". The enemies you encounter will be stronger and you can't choose which final Nightlord boss you'll face.

It sounds like the mode will have you descending through a series of Depths, with each one getting harder as you go down. Depth 3 appears to be the main conclusion of the Deep of Night mode, but there'll be a Depth 4 and a Depth 5 featuring "endless battles".

Along the way, you'll find new items called Depth Relics and new weapons packing new effects, but also negative ones.

Deep of Night will be available for free on PS5, PS4 from 11th September, expanding the run-based title even more. The base game came with eight Nightlord bosses to fight at the end of a run, the Everdark Sovereigns offer harder versions of those encounters, and now Deep of Night makes the entire game tougher.

The blog post added: "Furthermore, the difficulty increases the deeper you descend. The ratings will fluctuate based on wins and losses, affecting the 'depth.'"
