Would you believe it, the original Deus Ex — the stone cold classic RPG from 2000 — is getting a full-blown remaster on PS5 next year.
Out on the 5th February 2025, the predictably named Deus Ex Remastered is the same cyberpunk adventure that's been influencing choice-driven design for decades, but it's been given a graphical upgrade and overhauled controls.
Well, we say graphical upgrade, but we can already tell that some fans of the original game are going to be severely disappointed in how this remaster looks. It's a pretty basic update, all things considered, but here's hoping that the gameplay tweaks are enough to carry the experience.

Indeed, Deus Ex can be a struggle to play through these days; its RPG elements remain incredibly strong, but its moment-to-moment gameplay has aged rather poorly — especially by today's standards.
But what do you make of Deus Ex Remastered? Hurry up and hack something in the comments section below.

This was a brilliant surprise, hope it's priced reasonably
I'm hoping it leads to a Human Revolution remaster in future.
There should be a rule that "You can't remaster games before 7th gen and only allow to remake them"
This is a touch, I have been wanting to play the OG as I didn’t get into it back in the day. I have it on my Steam Deck but without native controller support I have not really bothered with it. Looking forward to getting it on PS5, then!
On one hand, if this is a modern port of the PC version, great. It's one of the best games of all time.
On the other hand, I thought what they've done to the visuals is awful. It's not that I'm against changing the look but I just think it looks worse in some areas. I'd prefer just a straight-up port of the PC with how it looks on that but it could just be the trailer. I'll keep an eye on it.
I remember playing the original game years ago on Steam but never beat it.
Good opportunity to finally finish it now.
I love Human Revolution and Mankind Divided but i never played the 1st Deus Ex so i'm curious to try this remastered.
But iirc didn't they just released Deus Ex PS2 like a couple of months ago? I think i had it on my wishlist.
I hope this is a remastered version of the PC game and not the penurious PlayStation port.
If so, roll on May 2026 to cattle prod my way to Area 51 😂
This is probably the only alternative to playing this without playing the pc port I guess but I don't think most people would get used to the jankyness of this dated game, I would have preferred a remaster of Deus ex Human Revolution and Mankind Divided instead
OMG!!!!! i just gasped out loud
OMG
They should have done Invisible War, too. The only way to play that is on original Xbox.
the original was great, but this looks like a minimal effort, hack job of a port (barely a remaster) from aspyr. easy skip.
Is this a remaster of Deus Ex The Conspiracy or is this the game before it?
I'll take it for 30 bucks
Oh my god, JC, It’s a bomb bomb bomb bomb
I really would've prefered the ending to the human revolution trilogy. 🙁
@Ken_Kaniff I belive The Conspiracy was Deus Ex 1 port for PS2. But i think this remastered used the PC version.
Pretty sure that's supposed to be 5th of February 2026.
Would prefer Nightdive to handle this over Aspyr, hopefully they don't balls it up!
I'm curious to see how this turns out, but I wish Aspyr would stop getting every notable remaster.
@PuppetMaster Okay thanks for the info.
I hope you can play with the original visuals.
Wow!!
What a massive surprise, best news of the day!
Huge fan of Deus Ex back in the day (can still hear the theme music in my head now).
The PS2 port was poor though so hopefully this version will rule. Awesome!
Aspyr threatens to dump all over another classic game with a horrible remaster that should have been handled by a team that cares like Night Dive.
@AinsleyE the saving grace of Aspyr remasters is you can usually disable the "enhanced" graphics.
I've seen a lot of people focusing on the new graphics and saying it's awful looking now which is amusing because the original looks ugly as hell. (Even with the Revision mods)
Was happy with the soul reaver remasters Aspyr did so I think I'll be thrilled with this, as a massive Deus Ex fan, and hopefully it will lead to Invisible War being ported if it sells well enough.
I'll take everything Deus Ex
@AdamNovice same, I love that game
@stefan771 - Invisible War is playable on PC as well as Xbox.
@Faultandfracture Me too, I wasn't sure if it was going to click with me but I was completely sucked into it's world, story and gameplay.
It's a shame it's made by aspyr. They make their remasters look like Google play games, use unauthorised AI voices and promise deleted content from the original that they never follow up on.
