Cyberpunk 2077 September Tease

Update []:

Earlier this week, Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red teased an announcement on social media.

The rather cryptic post sparked a tidal wave of speculation from fans, with many immediately getting their hopes up for some kind of new content reveal — be it through DLC or updates.

However, upon seeing the hysteria, the company has clarified that the tease is not directly related to the game. Instead, it's got something to do with the anniversary of Phantom Liberty's release.

We told you not to let your imagination run wild!

Still, this just goes to show how rabid the Cyberpunk 2077 fanbase can be. There's still a serious demand for more content, and the open world RPG is still being played by tens of thousands of people a day, according to Steam's player tracking data.

We've come a long way since the game's abysmal launch back in 2020.

Original Story: CD Projekt Red has a history of cryptic social media teases related to Cyberpunk 2077, and much to the dismay of level-headed fans everywhere, the developer's at it again.

Over on X (more commonly known as Twitter), the game's official account has posted a kind of recruitment ad for the NUSA (New United States of America), signed by president Rosalind Myers.

Myers featured in Phantom Liberty as a central character, and this in-universe message states that her government is "seeking brave netrunners to join our efforts and overcome this grave threat".

Except it's not related to any in-game event, as the post specifically mentions the 4th September 2025. So, basically, CD Projekt Red is going to do... something later this week, on that date. We assume.

Now, this post has only been up for a couple of hours at the time of writing, but we're already seeing some wild theories being thrown about online.

Is it a tease for a new DLC? Is it another update? Is it to do with an upcoming competition (which we know the developer loves hosting for fans)? Or is it just a hype-inducing way to say that you're hiring programmers for the next Cyberpunk game?

Honestly, we don't know. This could be anything, and so we'd advise against getting your hopes up for some sort of big announcement. At least we only need to wait a few days for the truth...
