I think it's all about momentum and Microsoft's confusing messaging. Towards the end of last gen, when the PS3 became an affordable piece of kit, problably around the Uncharted 3 release, people jumped ship or atleast owned both. Then you have the PS+ factor. Some may criticise PS+ now but at the end of last gen it was all the rage equalling in a lot of hype. Then there is the power and price difference, which, though not huge makes a difference.
