Dancing in the street

Ah, the weekend – that quiet period where real work is cancelled in favour of household chores. Assuming that you get a break from doing the cooking, cleaning, and fixing that wonky shelf in your bathroom, then you’ll probably be investing it in front of your favourite PlayStation format. Here’s what we’re going to be up to over the next couple of days.

With mechanical Editor Sammy Barker taking a few days off, I'm hoping that this weekend doesn't prove to be a busy one, just so that I can knuckle down and sink myself deeper into the endless void that is Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Knowing my luck, though, Sony will probably go ahead and announce a pre-pre-TGS conference that's happening the second that this article is published. [So, er, a press release just came through, and... - Ed]

It's taken me entirely too long, but I'm finally playing the absolutely stellar The Last of Us: Left Behind. Indeed, I'm enjoying it so much that it's raising a few ethical questions. First, is it acceptable to like a title's DLC more than the game proper? Second, is it acceptable to award DLC game of the year?

Tales of Xillia 2 has quickly consumed all of my time – a rarity with the amount of titles I normally have on the go. Am I completing the game, though? No, I'm running around the world collecting cats instead. Gotta catch ‘em all!

After finally putting my review of Risen 3: Titan Lords to bed, I'm looking forward to getting to play a decent RPG this weekend in the shape of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition.

It's Madden Season! With the actual NFL season just around the corner, there is nothing like a friendly competition with my friends to see who is king of the Gridiron in Madden NFL 15. I will also do my best to take my beloved Steelers all the way to the Super Bowl.

I still haven't quite gotten my fill of Metro Redux yet, so I'm definitely going to be playing some of that. I've also neglected Battlefield 4 for a few months, so I think that I'm going to have to go back and play some of that again soon.

Unfortunately, the call to study is a necessity that I must fulfil this weekend, which will be hogging up the majority of my free time. But if I have a couple of hours to game, I'll be sure to continue my galaxy-spanning adventures as FemShep in Mass Effect and play a bit more of Metro Redux, which I purchased this past Tuesday.

After playing through inFAMOUS: Second Son and earning its Platinum when the game first came out, I will be flashing my neon powers around in inFAMOUS: First Light. It will certainly lighten my weekend.
