Looks like this particular politician wasn't completely fact-checking. "Postponed until next year"? Uh, the previously-targeted date was already slated for next year, it had been targeting May 2026 until the recent delay. The politician made it sound like the game was planned for this month or next prior to the most recent delay...
Imagine sending this minivan with a family loaded inside into the fray into a certain race at Le Mans...What would the odds be that we'd get an "Are we there yet?" before even completing the first lap?
(Yes, I'm aware the Le Mans race organizers would never let a minivan on track with more than just the driver aboard for safety reasons, but the allusion was just too good to pass up...)
@MrMajeeny Eh, I highly doubt there were too many people actually taking the "infinite" part real-world literally. Even if they had been able to fully stick to a ten-year plan, such a window would have to come to an end eventually...
If you're wondering what all the "condor" fuss is all about, it's four under par on a single hole (basically the result that's better than an albatross, which in turn is better than an eagle, and so on and so forth). The most realistic prospect for such a shot lies in getting a hole-in-one on a par-5 hole, and even in the case such a shot actually gets made you wouldn't see the term "condor" played up all that often...
Wait...wasn't this the game with a game-breaking bug so infamous there's a whole FAQ on GameFAQs dedicated to it? A bug that killed not only save files for the game itself, but could even kill the whole memory card in certain circumstances? And now they might be coming for PS4 hard drives and PS5 SSDs if nothing's been done to keep it in check, and we're not sure it'd be limited to just PS1 and PS2 save files...
Scummy Microsoft "game-key disc" practices strike again...Now, I'm no fan of the Switch 2's game-key cards (it'd take some extremely niche situation to get me to go for one), but to their credit at least those are entirely upfront about their nature, and even those clearly have higher costs than Blu-ray discs...
@Haruki_NLI I'd be careful with those words...What if Microsoft spiked the ball into Nintendo's court with this play rather than Sony's? (This coming from someone who balked at the Expansion Pass over the price difference compared to benefits...)
Interesting this comes shortly after I finish up the original (Switch version)...Wonder if the new content will expand on some of the mysteries surrounding the original's gifts (we know the owner of that memory notebook has a name beginning with "Ky" and also including a "ko" and an "oto")? And hopefully they address some of the more questionable localization bits, especially in that schmuck-bait "Guess the Killer Challenge" of chapter 1 (the Switch version of that literally left a PlayStation button prompt on one of the choices [the Circle on "Guess the Killer Challenge"; the other option was labelled for the Switch's A button], and if one were to compare the face clusters to focus on position rather than label, both choices were essentially on the same button!)...
Granted, if we need new material out of the two-toned bear, they'll need to run another recast, given how last year wasn't exactly kind as far as Monokuma's voice acting was concerned (first we lost the voice actor well-known as the lead in Chibi Maruko-chan, then we lost the 1979 Doraemon lead voice actor)...
@Lowdefal And neither of them were the top-selling game of its hardware generation, if the numbers I've seen are accurate. That honor went to Super Mario 64 (just short of 12 million), even though its corresponding hardware didn't move as many units as the PS1 did.
@JAMes-BroWWWn You do realize this site is not actually run by Sony Interactive Entertainment, right? The staff here had nothing to do with the problems with the PSN storefront...
Any word on what the buffalo taking a diarrhea dump in his ear will look like in 8-bit graphics? And what of the sequence where the Nerd eats out the rotten you-know-what of a roadkill skunk, then downs it with beer (and does he then eat the rotten you-know-what itself afterward)?
@belmont Not sure you'd want the Master System version of MK3, to be honest--that one's one of those "Brazilian backport of the Game Gear version" kind of deals (unlike MK1 and MK2, which did get proper Master System versions that saw European release), and those kind of products don't always have the best track record--if you see comparisons between the Game Gear and Master System versions of Sonic Blast, you'll see what kind of job I'm talking about...
@sanderson72 Genshin never made it to Switch 1. We're not sure when that decision got made given the long radio silence on that front, but technical reasons are the presumptive reason (given a certain Lego game killed the other likely excuse). Can't say Switch 2 chances got completely killed (we don't know exactly just how much more a base PS4 is holding things back than a PS4 Pro), but I'd estimate the shots just got longer...
@Hylian-Likely On how many floppy disks? We're talking a game on a platform that used CDs, and even a single-disc game, depending on how much of the CD was actually used, could require at least 450 1.44 MB floppy disks to cover the space of the single CD...
Wonder just how big the potential player base was in..."Unknown country code: AN"? ...Was the corresponding region even aware of where in the world they were?
@Oram77 Not sure whether it's more or less than what the average Nintendo Switch 2 game-key card actually holds--much less those things' total memory maps...and that's assuming they do bother with a disc...
Something tells me Yoshida didn't see the fine print concerning the Japanese price (namely, that particular price is for a model that only supports the Japanese language--of course, what if somebody who gets that model wants to play something like "Vagrus - The Riven Realms", a game whose Japanese-region release is English-only, on it?)...
Hmm...Premium fifth, standard ninth, deluxe still on page one (all as of this writing), and this coming from a region known to be very hostile to the Xbox brand...
Hmm...Even without a formal confirmation of such a version, I'm thinking there's already active betting as to just what a hypothetical Switch 2 version of the game would get in regards to this mini game (be it the apes, Bomberman, or even something Switch 2-exclusive; surely there's some odds in favor of the apes, even if they're longshot, given the "stranger things have happened" route the Switch has taken)...
Holy...11/15, "PS1 Expert - You're a true PlayStation veteran!"? Not bad for someone who never actually owned one of these things--had a brief Sega flirtation with the Genesis, but ended up returning to Nintendo afterward and stayed by their side ever since...
@WizzNL Wouldn't be the first time a bug slipped past for a sizable chunk of time before being detected. There's some games where bugs are still being newly detected despite having been around for decades. Games in this day and age, never too late to deploy a fix for said bugs. Won't be the last time a bug slips by undetected for significant time periods, either (and whatever the record is between game release and a bug being detected, that'll be broken at some point)...
