I know port begging is broadly frowned upon and for good reason, but when it comes to game preservation perhaps we should make an exception?
Oh, who am I kidding – I just want to rant about The Path of the Warrior: Art of Fighting 3 R which is the latest addition to SNK’s NEO GEO Premium Selection.
Like the other games in this line, it’ll be available exclusively on the PC, alongside World Heroes Perfect and Ninja Master’s – the latter of which is available today.
Honestly, this resurrected version of 1996’s Art of Fighting 3 looks like the Japanese publisher’s best effort yet, as it’s hacking in two characters: King from Art of Fighting and Yuri from Art of Fighting 2.
Like all the other games in this series, it’ll also come with rollback netcode, balance adjustments, an expanded training mode, and more.
But inexplicably, it’ll only be available for the PC.
Now you can buy a version of Art of Fighting 3 on the PS Store via Hamster’s Arcade Archives line, but it obviously lacks the rollback netcode and balance adjustments, as well as the new characters.
I just don’t understand why these ports aren’t being made more widely available across more platforms – surely there’d be an appetite for them on the PS5 and other consoles.
I’ve reached out to SNK to ask if it has any plans to bring the NEO GEO Premium Selection to more systems, and I’ll update if and when I get word back.
