Re: Poll: Does the Steam Machine Pose a Threat to PS5?

morrisseymuse

Lol heck no! it's a Mini PC, running SteamOS, on a hardware level of a Series S, none of that says "threat"! 😁
Most PC gamers already have better rigs and prefer Windows and most console gamers don't want the faff of Proton layers AND also have better hardware already!

It's a niche product that may sell as much as the Steam Deck before it, and if it does sell 4 million I predict Valve will throw a party lol

Re: EA Sports FC 26 (PS5) - Flexible Football for Two Types of Players

morrisseymuse

I've been playing the EA Play trial of it so far. I hated FC25 with a passion, the FM rip off player roles were clunky to implement and otherwise the game felt very similiar to FC 24.
I have to say, the new Authentic mode does make the game feel and play much more realistically! Players are slower and animations appear more deliberate and realistic too. The biggest change in gameplay though has to be the AI! players are much more aggressive and competent now, especially on defence.

Career mode has a couple of QoL improvements (mainly more info about clubs on initial select screen) and a new addition in the form of challenges (which are frankly more irritating than fun), but otherwise remains identical to FC25. Overall I'd say it just may well be the best FIFA of the past decade, but that's not saying too much, granted! I'm probably going to get this on sale in December though as its not worth full price.

Re: Silent Hill F (PS5) - Brutal Survival Horror Walks a New Path

morrisseymuse

I admire the reviews that don't go with the mainstream of Metacritic and this is a good examples, thanks. I feared this game would have repetitive combat from viewing gameplay and trailers already, but I'm torn as the atmosphere looks top notch and I love both Silent Hill and J-Horror, so will probably give it a shot when it goes on sale.

Re: Borderlands 4 (PS5) - A Chaotic Return That Shoots Straight, Even if Its Performance Stutters

morrisseymuse

@Kierant202 I'm shocked at this after reading little but outrage on youtube comments! I don't generally notice fps drops unless they're massive though and I'm sure once the patches come out soon, it'll be ironed out to a level where I definitely won't notice or care and have alot of fun with it also.

Channels like DF have sadly ruined some of the gaming community and I long for the old days when gamers only cared about having fun and not pixel counting! That said, nothing prepared me for the fps drops in Mafia: The Old Country! lol

Re: Site News: Where's Our Borderlands 4 PS5 Review?

morrisseymuse

I'm encouraged by the pretty solid 60fps reports from gamers and early tech reviewers of the PS5 version so far, but most seem to be fairly early game still so far. I'm waiting for official reviews from the likes of you guys before deciding whether it's worth dropping my 70 squid! 😁

Re: Round Up: Borderlands 4 Reviews All on PC, No PS5 Verdicts Anywhere

morrisseymuse

I'm shocked it has an 84 on Metacritic, given the tsunami of tears from PC owners in every youtube comment section and on Steam! 😁
It's not great though to be fair, but I kind of expect most new releases to be awful at launch on PC these days, there's just been so many! I can only hope and pray that the fps drops are acceptable level at least on PS5!

Re: Mafia: The Old Country (PS5) - Historical Crime Story Runs Out of Ammo

morrisseymuse

It's a solid 7/10 game, way too many cutscenes of mostly uninteresting characters and alot of the gameplay sequences are recycled from old games in the series (not another car race..?!). I still managed to have fun with it though and it gave me that 'one more play' feel despite its shortcomings. I just wish there was more actual gameplay and what it get was more interesting, like Mafia 1 and 2 were.

Re: Gears of War: Reloaded (PS5) - Iconic Xbox Shooter Is the Perfect Intro for PlayStation Fans

morrisseymuse

@awp69 the original was 94% of 20 years ago but standards have moved on. It's still a great, fun game, but there's issues: clunky movement and camera, unreliable cover system, bullet sponge enemies, short campaign, boring online (IMO at least). It performs well and still looks fairly decent; I'm having fun playing it on Xbox via Gamepass currently, but I wouldn't double dip on PS5 for anything above £25.

MGS3 is another recent re-release of a masterpiece. It has aged much better and the fps drops a handful of reviews mention won't be noticed by 99% of gamers anyway.

I still would prefer not to pay full price for what is essentially a game I played decades ago however. I'd rather save the cash for Borderlands 4 next month.

Re: AEW: Fight Forever (PS5) - A Superkick Party Pooper Fit for Elite Fans Only

morrisseymuse

Despite not being a fan of most of the AEW product, I am a wrestling fan in general and initial previews looked promising. All I can say now is I agree completely with this review! the gameplay is nowhere near that in No Mercy, career mode is repetitive and even the various matches themselves all get dull after the first couple of attempts. It's a 5 max from me too alas and only conselation is I didn't buy the elite edition!

Re: Skyrim Anniversary Edition Detailed, Special Edition Owners Get Four Creation Club DLCs for Free

morrisseymuse

@Digit2021 that's about the jist of it I'm not supporting Bethesda after the dull disaster that was Fallout 76. Its a bit hypocritical for us to condemning a company for going the exclusive route when the PlayStation has thrived on them for generations now That said, of course, fluff Bethesda and their money making schemes in this case! A free PS5 update is all I'm (very!) interested in though anyway!

Re: Immortals Fenyx Rising (PS5) - Formulaic Open World in Ancient Greece

morrisseymuse

Just got this and it's great fun! combat is obviously borrowed from AC, but it feels more responsive and smoother, reminds me a bit of the epic Kingdoms of Amalur! There's been some criticism online (cough Digital Foundry cough), but it plays well and looks great to me! Too much pixel counting analysing going on these days!
I got bored of Valhalla after 2 days, so hoping this holds my interest longer, but combat alone is more fun than Valhalla I gotta say!

Re: Which SSD Drives Will Be Compatible With PS5?

morrisseymuse

@Stonecold you're almost right the exception being that ALL save data, be it PS5 or PS4, has to be contained on the internal drive. My cloud has got up to the rather hefty 13gb of save data total now, which I've xipued all over for convenience but that's basically a PS4 game I could have had on the PS5 drive!

Re: Sadly, You Can't Store PS5 Games on an External HDD

morrisseymuse

@Cybrshrk backup storage is only a "must have" if your internet is awful and you don't mind waiting staring at a transferring files screen for an hour to play your game.
Also, 1tb of storage for £220 does not equate Xbox storage being better to me! I'm waiting for SSD 2.0 pet to be available, much faster transfer speeds than the Series X external has and can go up to 2tb if I wanna spend big.

Re: Which SSD Drives Will Be Compatible With PS5?

morrisseymuse

I have 835 PS4 and PS5 games in my library apparently, but I may play the majority of them once a year if I'm lucky. I must've spent 20% of my time on my PS4 watching a file transfer screen as I copied games from my external HDD to my internal SSD and back again and I have no intention of doing that again next gen with my PS5 lol

I'm reaching the limits of the small SSD limit on mine now, but I've been deleting games and downloading new ones and redownloading old ones as and when I wanna play them. It's slightly longer than external drive would take but it means I can spend longer on the amazing PS5 patched Borderlands 3 or Godfall and not have to look at another file transferring screen! lol

Whenever Sony unlock the SSD internal port and we get a look at the super fast SSD, I may get one to add a bit of extra storage and hopefully there won't be much waiting around then between games!

Re: A PS5 Firmware Update Will Add VRR Support in the Future

morrisseymuse

@rjc-32 but theyre dropping frames in DMC5 when played in 120hz mode. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I would expect VRR to smooth out the fps to 120fps in such a situation and not the 100fps average we get on Series X? If therefore VRR can only do so much it seems and it's more a hardware issue, then surely VRR isn't going to be essential next gen?

Re: Planet Coaster: Console Edition (PS5) - A Thrilling Business Sim with Lots of Ways to Play

morrisseymuse

@andreoni79 lol! Modern 'FM' is definitely more a chore than earlier versions and is a HUGE time sink, even in the trimmed down version of the game! I'd recommend finding a copy of FM 2008 if you want depth but faster, more streamlined and ultimately much more fun gameplay. If you want rapid gameplay with less realism, try the FM Touch games on phone/tablet and/or the old Championship Manager game. There's a team that still does stat updates for it at www.champman0102.co.uk

Re: A PS5 Firmware Update Will Add VRR Support in the Future

morrisseymuse

@Toypop I can't see the vast majority of gamers spending over a grand on a TV either. Now that monitors finally are coming out with decent HDR and some amazing TV's are available on the cheap, paired with the amount of 4K/120fps games being counted on 1 hand over the next 7 years most likely, I just don't see many people seeing VRR as "essential" on console at least.
