Re: PS4's Record-Setting US Sales Pace Is Being Comfortably Beaten by Switch 2

@nomither6
I still view Nintendo as being in the console bucket, as opposed to PC or mobile. The pure handheld market dried up after Vita and 3DS. The other handhelds such as Asus and Lenovo are still PCs, basically small laptops with controllers instead of keyboards. If MS goes 3rd party and Switch 2 does a Wii U, I don’t think Sony can be a lone champion in a shrinking pool. So I think it’s good for Switch 2 to be commercially viable, for the type of games that I enjoy.

Re: Mega Publisher EA Agrees to $55 Billion Buyout by Saudi Arabia, Silver Lake, Affinity Partners

@WhoderMan
I got a feeling as well that some of visceral reaction against this has subtle racist undertones. Like there may be an anti-Arab prejudice that they should not be allowed to own a Western company. I saw something like this last year when the Nippon Steel wanted to purchase US Steel. The Japanese were cited as being evil.*
Don’t get me wrong. I have no love lost for the Saudi royalty or the Kushners, but when I see such intense responses, I suspect there an element of bias, and it is less about being rational.

Re: Poll: How Would You Rate State of Play for September 2025?

kmtrain83

I thought it was very good in terms of the pace and flow. As far as the games themselves, I’ll only get the Wolverine. Saros creeped me out the same way as Returnal. No thank you. FF Tactics is better suited to Switch. I never bothered getting the remake of TLOU2, so I’m glad that is coming to the subscription service. One that flew under the radar is the one with a forgettable name that looks like a Disco Elysium sequel?

Re: Rumour: PS6 Handheld Device Can Be Docked Like Nintendo Switch 2

kmtrain83

I'm not sure if they can put the genie back in the bottle, since Xbox and PS gamers have been conditioned to want more power, to rival PC -> a handheld version of these same games would feel gimped. Nintendo get away with it because their first party games don't strive for photorealism, and they seem to get a pass with visual cutbacks from the 3rd party ports.

Re: Highly Rated Square Enix RPG Triangle Strategy Out Now on PS5

kmtrain83

I had this on my Switch wish list forever. I finally got it used, beat it once, and sold it. I give about 7.5 score. I had my time with it, but did not feel like I would do another playthrough. Maybe years down the line, I could revisit this on PC if it was like $10-15. It certainly has some neat unique map designs, but I found aspects of the combat frustrating, and the characters didn't do much for me.

Re: A Quote from a Sony Exec Is Causing a Hubbub Among PS5 Fans Again

I assumed by all these comments, although no one stated as such, that eventually, Sony will make televisions which include the PlayStation platform built-in without a separate box? Without that I cannot see console being entirely replaced by PC or mobile because those do not connect as well to an 85 inch TV with seven speakers and a comfy couch. I guess it’s possible that you could cast from my PC or phone to the TV but the technology would have to be seamless..

I see this playing out with my three teenagers. Most of their time is Roblox Minecraft Valorant Fortnite on PC, which they also use for schoolwork. You really can’t be a student nowadays and not have a PC. You don’t need to have a console though. A generation ago these needs would’ve been satisfied by consoles. I think that’s why we see globally PC gaming is ramping up, console is flat, but both are overshadowed by casual mobile, which I don’t think is the same audience as the people on this website..

Re: EA Still Resisting $80 PS5 Games, Not Raising Prices 'at This Stage'

kmtrain83

@QwarktasticLombax
GTA 6 base price announcement could be a watershed moment.
I’m still not sure why Nintendo chose Mario Kart World as their first $80 base game when they were perfectly willing to “discount“ it to $50 in the launch day console bundle.
Tears of the Kingdom is also $80 but again the Switch 1 edition was already $70 and for the Nintendo online members the upgrade is free.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 591

kmtrain83

I will try to finish Fire Emblem (GBA), and try out Romancing SaGa 2 on Switch. On PS5, I may try to make progress on Tales of Arise, or go back to Ghost of Tsushima, which I started but dropped fairly early on. Xbox Series S... just turn on and admire the UI, but unlikely to play anything of substance.

Re: Street Fighter 6 Community Rocked by AI Art Controversy

@ZeroSum
I think it is fair to criticize the submission that broke the rules by using AI, without judging or even knowing the person's intentions or level of innate talent. We all see what is happening around us with computers replacing humans, and we have a right to voice our concerns when we see it manifest in such a brazen manner. The more I read about it, the more I see "scraping" as theft of intellectual property on an industrial scale. Unfortunately, since "the Chinese will do it anyway," then we all have to follow. So goes humanity.

Re: Star Wars Outlaws Sequel Reportedly Cancelled, Will Stay in a Galaxy Far, Far Away

@RoomWithaMoose
As a Gen X-er, I assumed it was over after ROTS in 2005. I did watch some Clone Wars, but a cartoon cannot sustain an IP. I was happy when I heard they were making a sequel triology. Since then, it has been decent, with some great output including Mandarlorian season 1/2 and Andor, along with a lot of filler. The SW Jedi games were pretty good, compared to other titles that came out those years. In the end, nothing is perfect, so judge for yourself. Personally, I didn't jive with the SW Outlaws demo on PS5, but I may give it another look it it runs well on Switch 2.
