Pokémon Dev's PS5 Game Beast of Reincarnation Looks Fantastic in New Video Preview 1

Action RPG Beast of Reincarnation is looking super solid in this new preview from IGN.

Due out on 4th August, this new game from Game Freak and publisher Fictions is shaping up rather nicely:

The above video has lots of new gameplay footage to enjoy while Tristan Ogilvie talks you through his hands-on time with the title's opening hours.

Set in a post-apocalyptic Japan, you play as Emma who, accompanied by a wolf companion named Koo, must fight through a landscape in which animals have fused together with plant life.

While most of the action is focused on Emma's swordplay, Koo will automatically attack as well — but even better is that you can slow time down to issue powerful commands to the canine ally.

These commands use a resource that can only be gained by parrying attacks, though it sounds like the effective window for doing so is fairly generous.

On top of the combat, which looks like a fun mix of typical action and strategic command attacks, the game features some neat traversal mechanics.

Emma is able to use her magical hair to help get around the environment; it can be used as a grappling hook, you can get a boosted secondary jump, and it can even form a long platform to let you cross large gaps.

There are quite a lot of Souls-adjacent action RPGs on the horizon, but Beast of Reincarnation is doing some unique and interesting things that mean it stands out from the pack. I reckon this could be a bit of a dark horse.
