Hitman 2: Silent Assassin. Back when games certainly did not hold your hand so it's a struggle but a very enjoyable first foray into the Hitman series.
Honing my skills to become the most feared and badass assassin in the world this weekend.....until my gf intimidates me into taking her out for a Valentine's meal 😕
@velio84 Because being nice on social media is so much easier than actually doing something to physically help people. People think you're awesome and all you had to do was press a few buttons on a keyboard.....win win.
@NEStalgia The thing is though I'm not totally sure that there are even that many gamers of that description in the group you have identified.
I honestly think that the heads of businesses and their marketing departments are so detached from the ground that they view the whole world through the Twitter sphere, and mistakenly presume that the tiny minority screaming for all this crap represent the majority.
This will be a dud. Expect it to get discontinued by Sony a year or so after release.
Also I think gaming is more of a medium for escapism. I can care for people in many ways in the real world, however, I can't go into Hell and slaughter endless demons or single handedly turn the tides of battles in Three Kingdoms China.
I think implementing the gang loyalty system from GTA2 would be a cool addition. Make the game that bit more dynamic and would add new missions depending on who you side with as well as different weapons and vehicles.
@jres01 I never said that GP wouldn't grow. With this acquisition I'm sure it will grow. It's not possible for them to make a profit on Activision products for years under their current GP model though, even if you doubled the subscription base. They're going to charge a lot more if they want this to become profitable. The MS board may be happy to shell out for now but they're eventually going to want to see a return on all that money they've been throwing around. They're not going to get that at the current price of GP whilst offering Day One access to multi million dollar titles.
@S1ayeR74 I doubt I could downplay the amount of money Xbox make enough as their business model relies on massive cash injections and subsidies from other divisions of the owner. In fact they make that little money and the products that lackluster they need to buy out the competition.
I know what you mean by over the shoulder games but it's selling, which is more than can be said for Xbox exclusives at the moment.
@OneWingedAngel Spot on. I wonder if the GP adherents will wake up if MS take a bigger market share, enough to then crank up the GP sub to £50. But then some will probably say "but I can play the new CoD day one with absolutely zero changes in the last 5 titles".
@S1ayeR74 MS wealth is much more to do with all their other products and services.
Sony may launch some form of GP but it will be more expensive than Xbox simply because they can't afford to subsidise it as much.
As for games, I don't know. Not sure what your point is since they are releasing more Triple A titles than Xbox in terms of exclusives and are being positively received. Also a story simulator is most games
@S1ayeR74 Do you really think MS are making a profit on games which cost tens of millions to make by allowing access to gamers for £1? Long term GP will try and strangle the industry, no more ownership of games, less need to innovate and experiment, just safe sub par cookie cutter games.
If you don't believe me look at the current offering on GP. A few good games certainly, the rest are filler.
@S1ayeR74 Games which are sold at £70 on initial launch available day one on GP for a subscription which can be bought for £1....yeah mate totally sustainable
@LiamCroft That's not saying much looking at the competition in 2021. Also Vanguard got awful user reviews which will do nothing to instill faith in the next entry.
Come on! CoD has been in decline for years. If this takeover hadn't happened people would continue to threaten "not to buy it anymore" and moan at leisure. As soon as the takeover leaks it's a massive loss for some reason.
@ThorsHammer CoD has been in decline for years due to multiple reasons which I don't expect to be fixed, especially under MS ownership. It looks big now but it will continue to decline in the years to come, it'll make the loss much easier for PS fans to swallow as time passes.
@get2sammyb But at the same time a lot of people can see that GP is not sustainable and what games are they actually putting on there? They can buy all the big publishers they want but at the same time you hear criticism after criticism on the way titles like CoD are headed. I used to hear the same about Elder Scrolls.
Yes this hurts Sony but if they continue to invest and bring out actual good games and experiences, they can make it through this. Let people continue to pay GP subs for sub par games if they want, but the Devs will break no new ground under that model as MS will just bail then out.
I remember that logo when I was playing Shadow of the Beast 3. Completing levels 1&2 then getting confused on the cauldron level.....no internet guides in those days
Very true, every Dev would want as broad a consumer base as possible. That being said for reasons I've outlined above, the PS exclusives are going to make a lot more money than the Xbox ones
@__jamiie In that case the Bethesda games won't be profitable, they'll survive based on Microsoft cash injections which is never a good thing for a company. If Bethesda was still selling to both PS and Xbox, where would it make more money? PS would sell it probably around £70 initially, if it went onto GP where people are paying £1 for membership and can play it Day One, do you not reckon Bethesda (had they not been bought out) or every other Dev would rather tap into the PS market?
@Sunzy98 Yep. I know it's anecdotal but the people I know who use GP are almost religious about how great it is. They seem to think they're getting one over on the Devs because they're not paying full price for a game yet at the same time complain about the lack of quality in games or lack of innovation. Whenever I link GP to this it's met with real hostility. Strange indeed.
@__jamiie If Sony ignore all of the drawbacks that myself and others here have listed then yeah I suppose GP is worth looking at.
If you think it's great, what other exclusive titles does Xbox have going for it apart from Halo and Forza? I'm sure indie Devs love GP as they get exposure through marketing and save a fortune. The medium to bigger third party Devs who's games are just put onto GP not so much.
@KayOL77 If they did that then it wouldn't be as good as the GP fans claim GP to be as Sony wouldn't put their first party titles as day one releases. PS Now can certainly be enhanced and adding things like the classic games with improved graphics, controls and trophy support would be a huge winner.
As I say though they shouldn't be following the GP model religiously, just look at the lack of Xbox first party titles if you need to ask why.
@get2sammyb I really hope they don't but I just can't shake image of some short term thinking Sony execs saying "look at the success of GP, let's just copy it exactly".
I was thinking they would offer some sort of retro service but wouldn't it make more sense just to put the PS classic games onto PSNow?
Maybe a more premium membership service as you say would be the way forward. Two monthly releases as usual for basic membership, access to an enhanced on demand service and further discounts of first party titles for those who want to pay more.
@PhhhCough Haha yeah I know I wasn't being serious with the term but couldn't think of another way to word it. Should have given it the old ".." marks.
@get2sammyb 100%. I'm not opposed to them updating it to remain competitive but I think it'll be a mistake if they try to make PS Now as important a factor to PS users as Gamepass is to Xbox.
@awp69 An independent 3rd party Dev runs a risk with going onto Gamepass on day of release. Obviously Microsoft must give them money as initial sales will be important for any game release in order to turn a profit. If they could have made more money by keeping it off Gamepass then it would arguably discourage Dev's going forward.
Also the likes of Forza and Halo will naturally be day one releases on Gamepass as they are owned or published directly by Microsoft/Xbox so it makes sense for them to do it.
If this is what they intend to do and potentially launch other services alongside Plus and Now then I hope it's tiered or at least give us the option of pick and mix.
I have no interest in the Now service personally and I think Sony would do well not to chase the "success" of the Xbox Gamepass.
The Gamepass method costs the Devs in lost revenue and will be less inclined to invest in their games. It's only viable as Microsoft have enough money to keep it solvent but I think the drawback shows in the lack of quality titles/series on the Xbox.
Sony should keep growing and encouraging their own series (Halo Killers and Bethesda clones) and not throw them onto the PS Now service at release. It's short term gratification at the cost of longevity.
@ThorsHammer No, funnily enough I've been searching the forums to see if someone wants to team up so I can get the trophies but no luck so far. I think I'm about half way through the game and it just feels like a big step back, as you say especially since playing the other two.
Go back to the roots, strong single player campaign with numerous variables depending on player choice, a rich lore and characters with depth and meaning.
Don't try to fix what isn't broken (looking at you DA2).
Also stay away from trying to make any political points, not saying Bioware have done this necessarily in their previous games but it'd be safer for them not to pander to that crowd.
@Rural-Bandit Fingers crossed on the development front for us both then.
I've personally never had an issue with the Sony controllers though what little experience I've had with Xbox, I did find their controller to have certain advantages on certain games.
Ah I'm sure you can buy such immersive and well made hunting and fishing titles for console to bring your outdoor hobbies indoors 😜.
I have nowhere near that amount to sink into a TV. I need to buy home insulation before I freeze but I'll check out the January PS sale refresh first.
Yeah I remember that about Killzone. Solid series, especially the 2nd game but not on Halo's level.
This is my current issue with Sony, I'd like to see them filling the gaps. As you say give us some FPS titles, develop some titles in the vein of the lost Bethesda series. There's still time of course and plenty of games we don't even know are in development but the PS needs these sort of titles to remain competitive.
Finally got my Hard to the Core trophy on Dead Space 2 so just cleaning up other trophies with the awesome hand cannon. Makes the Zealot difficulty a breeze! Happy New Year all also.
