Like it, wanted to try Fallout 76 for some time, Jedi should be good too.
Axiom may have been my thing in the 90s
I love this site, but just if you could check the links when you publish these articles please. Jedi link goes to PS5 overview, yet the review is within the PS4 url, so i had to change it by hand. I think this has happened a few times, so i thought i would mention it.
So Sony have a 5 year window to produce a viable alternative to COD, that they can afford to make free to play and release on all platforms.
Or they can keep crying.
I know it's not as simple as that, but they have the option to try, personally i'm not a huge COD fan, i still play off-line split screen with my friend on Modern Warfare Remastered. The newer ones actually suck with Bots.
The sense of entitlement drives me nuts. Why should free upgrades be the norm? People have to work on these and need to get paid.
Apple have £202 billion in the bank, when they bring out a new phone do they just give them away? they can afford to.
When i bought music on vinyl, did i expect a free CD when they came out? When i bought films on VHS, did i expect a free dvd when they came out? Then Blu-ray then UHD? If i go online and buy a movie, i can choose between SD, HD and UHD. I don't just buy the SD version and expect the UHD version free. When they remastered Star Wars did they send me a new version.
The answer to all the above is no. If you don't like it don't spend your money, it's a PS5 version you don't need it......ever...
@get2sammyb Nice looking video, any chance you could update the article to tell us layfolk what ASMR is please, you have assumed we all know. Thanks...
'Sony is marrying PS Plus with PS Now, reducing the price for members who subscribe to both'
£49.99 + £49.99 = £99.98 PS Plus Premium £99.99
Hmmm, yes with more content, but certainly not at a reduced price, also there will be people out there (not many likely) that only subscribe to Now not Plus, so to get the same content their price has doubled.
Also i fear that with Sony adding higher calibre games to the higher tiers, PS Plus essential could just be trash every month, i hope i am not right.
Yep this was mentioned by some in the comments in an article last week. Is this Sony not wanting a glut of extra sales? As i assume that they are financing this somehow as GTA online is part of Plus for those with a PS5. I guess we will never know,
I'm not familiar with the PS5 UI, but there is a fixed PS Plus icon on the PS4, it's been like that for ages. This is Sony just equalizing, nothing more, nothing less.
@ShogunRok Howdy, i was surprised that you haven't mentioned like others that we have already had Tiny Tina's on Plus, albeit as part of the Handsome collection. Poor move from Sony giving the same game again only 2.5 years after. Very poor month in my opinion.
I counted 12 games that i'm interested in, which is good value. Although i can't play a bunch yet until i get a PS5. It would have been great if overcooked had been PS4 too, but i had to go out and buy it. My favourite game from last year was actually subnautica, which they gave away free to everyone, ha.
@B-I-G-DEVIL Good theory and a good pointer to how many people actually finish games. With Days Gone though, they handed it out with Plus, so pontentially millions of people may have dipped their toes into a game that wouldn't normally appeal to them, thus lowering the complettion rate.
@mrmartinrohr to some extent i agrree, however i don't believe for a second that Sony wants this game, what Sony wants are games for Plus that fit their price model. Now whether that is a fixed fee or per licence they will likely put the feelers out to publishers to see what the will give.
Clearly whichever model is being used is problematic as publishers will demand more for the large member base. They have to offset potential future sales against revenue and with almost 50 million potential installs going to plus members future sales are harmed.
Yes Sony could have offerd more money, but neither you or i have absolutely any knowledge on the process that lead to this decision.
I absolutely want games that i like from Plus, and was hyped about Godfall until the announcement, i will still probably give it a go sometime if friends want to play.
PS Plus is a paid subscription service from PlayStation which gives members two PS4 games to download every month, as well as access to online multiplayer gaming, exclusive discounts from PlayStation Store, 100 GB of cloud storage for game saves and bonus content such as skins and in-game items for free-to-play games like Fortnite.
I love how so many people are assuming that this is Sonys fault, last time i checked they are not the publisher of this game and the devs are entitled to make which ever version they like available for Plus. It may well of been that version or nothing, but yes blame Sony.
The same goes for Godfall.
Also if any of you even bother to see what you get for your PS Plus subscription, monthly PS5 games are not included they are extras.
I really enjoy getting trophies, and if i can go for that plat i will. However i will usually play through a game my way first then clean up if necessary. What i don't like is rediculous trophies that require grind or lots of online play, it spoils the attempt and stops me chasing the others.
Well nothing really for me, the multiplayer games hold no interest. We got Amalur already on PS Plus, for those who haven't played this i really enjoyed it, enough to get the plat give it a go.
I don't own PSVR, so a zero month for me, nevermind there's always that ray of light that something i like will appear in the near future.
@johncalmc likewise, already got my plat from PS3 PS plus, whether or not i dip back in depends on what level i have to be to play the DLC.
I did love the game......
The rest, unlikely unless friends want to play, so just looks like some DLC for me this month.
'A killer lineup' it is not...........
@Otherbarry I worked this out roughly in August, PS Plus is my main source of games, i have actually only purchased 2 games in the last 12 months and have a big Plus backlog.
Plus over the last 9 years has given me around 150 games that i have played, which i worked out to be around £2.40 a game. This doesn't include all the ones i still have that want to play.
The only silver lining for me is that Sony are giving us a 6 year old game, which is in itself unusual. Gives me hope that some older games that have passed me by might make it onto Plus.
Yes there should be an upgrade path, but probably not at the price point that makes both versions the same price, more like £12 - £15 maybe as PS4 games currently tend to get higher discounts earlier and used prices drop quicker.
So a few months after release it would still be cheaper just to buy the PS4 version and upgrade.
At the end of the day, personally i think £70 is too much anyway at this time.
100% totally gutted, was about to buy overcooked 2 before the leak so hung on in the hope that it would be for PS4 too.
Poor decision from Sony
Nope stitched up, will add it to my library anyway, however i now have to go out and buy it or find a PS5 to buy.
Will buy a physical copy as it's cheaper even with Ovecooked 2 on sale.(i want all the DLC)
Will give HItman a bash, not played much of the first yet.
Zero interest in multiplayer predator.
EDIT: After some digging around, i found the Pushsquare referal link for amazon and used it.
A suggestion would be for games that are released on both consoles, that when you do the PS5 review you slap both referal links on the end of the review not just the one for the PS5.
@NEStalgia I agree, keeping people interested is the hard part, so some level of engagement from Sony would go a long way.
You made me curious so i did a quick count, i have 229 games on my trophy list, i have purchased at least 61 of these, also there are a few that i haven't really played and possible a few without trophies early on. So i would suggest that Plus over the last 9 years has given me around 150 games that i have played, i'm not sure if i've ever paid full price, so i just did 9 * £40. So £360 for 150 games is £2.40 per game played and enjoyed. There is no way they would have been that cheap in sales. I also have a good 20+ games in my backlog that i consider worth playing, such as MSG V, Days Gone, FFVII, Shadow of War, Shadow of the Tombraider. All the ones with PS5 updates i am saving until i get one.
So you've conviced me that despite the bad times, overall its good value, Thanks
Just better games, but that's down to the individual. I would like Sony to maybe actually do some research and ask us now and again what we might like, give us a list of potentials maybe to vote on. Fund some new indies that go straight to Plus. Or even let us continue playing them after our subscription lapses.
FYI the PS5 games are not part of the subscription. Sony sees them as a bonus, presumably in case they have nothing to offer some months.
@ddsutt Sure i 100% agree with you there, overall i am happy with the games i get form Plus, otherwise i wouldn't be a member.
I have an impressive backlog to prove it and games i would never have considered without it, i just wonder sometimes who makes these descisions. but obviously you can't please everyone all of the time, they do have 40 million people to satisfy
@naruball Maybe the average gamer does not care, but i do. Which ever way you look at it the games are a part of the subscription. If they are either 'free' or 'at no additoional cost' Sony could just not give us any and say that we are just paying for online.
It is exactly the same as saying the online is 'at no additional cost' or the cloud storage 'is at no additional cost' We pay for them all whether you agree or not.
If they are at no 'additional cost' please tell me what i am paying for?
@ddsutt Hmm so they gave A plague tale as part of Plus, great when i get a PS5 i'm sure i will play it.
As for PS Plus being for online and the games being free, please explain to me what i was paying back in 2012 for before Plus was needed for online? Sony added the online element, the games did not suddenly become an extra bonus. Plus was for monthly games before and in my eye still is as that is what i pay for. The games are not and never have been a free bonus, they are part of the subscription. If they were free you would be able to keep them afterwards.
I am hoping they did this by 'accident' to gauge the response before actually releasing them. Unlikely i know.
Hopefully September will be better, i mean it can't get any worse (for me) than this and last month. There are loads of decent indie games out there, put your hand in your pocket Sony.
None of the first set of answers applied, from a purely selfish point of view i don't want any directors cuts as it delays the chance of these games appearing on PS Plus.
@Dezzy70 funnily i've just been to Argos site, sold out. I looked the other week when the Ratchett & Clank bundle came out, all sold out everywhere when i looked, yet loads on ebay straight away. personally i'm not in a rush, i was thinking of the masses.
Maybe i was a bit over the top, yes i like to see whats coming up in the future, but maybe get a bit more on top of the supply issues and have a massive christmas bonanza with previews and releases.
Glad you got a couple through retailers, hopefully it won't be that long before they are more readily available.
Until people around the world can actually go out and buy a PS5 i don't see any point. Dangling a carrot in front of the donkey that it can't eat isn't fun. It's fine for all those that have one and i can understand them wanting more, however there are plenty who can't get one yet and until supply catches up with demand maybe they don't want Sony rubbing salt into the wound.
@Bleachedsmiles Cool, if you decided that Plus should be an option as it is then i'm all good with that.
Maybe if you are a member of one you should get the other half price. That would entice more people to try both and reduce any complaints about games being on both services. Though i suspect that the vast majority of people who have Now are also on Plus, so Sony would have to gain an extra 3 million subscribers to break even. So around £75 million (if everyone bought through store) big money, but they could try it.
@Bleachedsmiles I totally get your point of view and maybe yes there should be a service which combines the 2, but under no circumstances should that lead to the removal of Plus. Firstly as only 19 countries worldwide have access to Now, so do you just stop the rest of the world having access to Plus? Secondly i'm sure many people like myself have zero interest in Now. As for Sony double dipping, subscribers know that this is highly likely, do you think Sony should stop it and say to the 40 million plus members that don't have Now that any games on the service will never come to Plus?
Also Sony increasing prices has pretty much Zero effect on me, i am a steady gamer and don't need the latest releases, in the PS3 and 4 era i have bought 4 games i think for full price on release. (i have bought many games).
So sure i think there should be a tiered service, but you and others just seem to want to get rid of Plus and have a single option with Plus and Now merged. Why not just a buy 2 services get a discount as an option?

PS5 - nothing, because they don't have to
PS4 - PC building simulator, so we can pretend we are building one for previous exclusives.
PS4 - I am bread
Though i may actually enjoy I am Bread.
Really, something like Overcooked 2 and Nier Automata. Would be nice.
Re: Talking Point: How Would You Improve PS Plus?
@NEStalgia I agree, keeping people interested is the hard part, so some level of engagement from Sony would go a long way.

I've been a Plus member since either 2012 or 2013, just in it for the games.
i accept i am likely a minority, but we do exist.

Very poor for me, i'm sure some will be happy though, can't please everybody every month.
First poor month this year for me.
Re: Talking Point: What Free July 2021 PS Plus Games Would You Like?
@Bleachedsmiles Cool, if you decided that Plus should be an option as it is then i'm all good with that.
Maybe if you are a member of one you should get the other half price. That would entice more people to try both and reduce any complaints about games being on both services.
Though i suspect that the vast majority of people who have Now are also on Plus, so Sony would have to gain an extra 3 million subscribers to break even.
So around £75 million (if everyone bought through store) big money, but they could try it.
Re: Talking Point: What Free July 2021 PS Plus Games Would You Like?
